Publishing full vs. Publishing updates

As I understand, iWeb 1.1 has a new feature where now you can only have it publish updates (instead of the full site) so that when you FTP to your webserver, it doesn't have to re-download the whole site again (which takes a long time).
However, I don't know how to accomplish this. All I see in the file menu is "Publish to Folder" or "Publish to .Mac". How do I tell iWeb to publish updates only? And I don't have a .Mac account so I always have to publish to folder and then have an FTP program upload files to my webserver.
Thanks!

Mwong had written an article on how to selective upload your published materials.
And if you don't mind to play around and do some initial manual setups, I have a script and outlined in thread:

  • Manage SCUP published updates under WSUS and SCCM.

After completion of SCUP environment, I published Adobe Flash player update successfully.
Some where in blogs it was mentioned that published updates are under 'software library' but under SCCM2007 SP2 I am able to see 'software update' and there are no entry of published updates. Under 'software update' there is only Microsoft vendor and no updates
    under same.
Also, there is no entry about Adobe updates in WSUS, only Micosoft specific updates are present as per sync.

  • Problems installing digital publishing update for Indesign CS6

    Hello,
I am having some problems installing update I need for Indesign CS6. I'm working on an interactive pdf and need to update my version of cs6 to use the digital publishing suite. Upon attempts to use the 'folio builder' I am asked to update and go to 'help' 'updates'. The Adobe Patch installer begins to load then immediately crashes. I have tried installing the publishing update from adobe licensing but the same problem happens when I attempt to install the file using the patch installer.
I'm using CS6 version 8.0, can anyone help?
    Thanks

JulianLister I would recommend reviewing your installation logs to determine the cause of your current difficulties.  You can find information on how to locate and interpret your installation log files at Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html.
Please feel free to post any specific error messages you are receiving to this discussion thread if you have any questions.

  • Site won't publish updates to FTP host after initial successful publish

    Hi,
I am having trouble publishing updates to my site.  The site is live through an FTP Host and worked successfully the first time. However, when I go in to make changes to the site and click 'Publish to FTP Host' 'All Files', those changes don't take affect on the live site.  I have also cleared my cache and am still having the issue.

What do you have in Host directory? Keep it blank and re-publish. The Host directory (folder) on the host server is where your site files will be uploaded. Some hosting providers require you to upload your site to a specific folder on their server and others advise you to leave this field blank.
If the above doesn't help either, please reach out to Muse chat support - http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?product=muse&topic=signing-in-to-my-account.
    Thanks,

  • I have a need to update my OS. Should I go slowly and move to Lion (10.7) or go full blast and update to Yosemite (10.10)?

I have a need to update my OS from 10.6.8. Should I go slowly and move to Lion (10.7) or go full blast and update to Yosemite (10.10)?

Before embarking on a major OS upgrade, it would be wise, advisable and very prudent if you backup your current system to an external connected and Mac formatted Flash drive OR externally connected USB, Thunderbolt or FireWire 800, Mac formatted hard drive. Then, use either OS X Time Machine app to backup your entire system to the external drive OR purchase, install and use a data cloning app, like CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper, to make an exact and bootable copy (clone) of your entire Mac's internal hard drive. This step is really needed in case something goes wrong with the install of the new OS or you simply do not like the new OS, you have a very easy way/procedure to return your Mac to its former working state.
Then, determine if your Mac meets ALL minimum system install requirements.
OS X 10.7 Lion system requirements
    Purchased emailed download code here.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6106Z/A/os-x-lion
To use OS X 10.7 Lion, make sure your computer has the following:
An Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
Mac OS X v10.6.6 or later to install via the Mac App Store (v10.6.8 recommended)
7 GB of available disk space
    2 GB of RAM
To install OS X  10.8 Mountain Lion, 10.9 Mavericks (free upgrade, but currently unavailable) or OS X 10.10 Yosemite (currently available free upgrade) you need one of these Macs:
OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion purchased emailed download code here.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6377Z/A/os-x-mountain-lion
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later),
    MacBook Pro (15-inch or 17-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    Your Mac also needs:
OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed
2 GB or more of memory (I strongly advise, at least, 4 GBs of RAM or more)
8 GB or more of available space
    Next,
If you run any older Mac software from the earlier PowerPC Macs, then none of this software will work with the newer OS X versions (10.7 and onward). OS X Snow Leopard had a magical and invisible PowerPC emulation application, called Rosetta, that worked seamlessly in the background that still allowed older PowerPC coded software to still operate in a Intel CPU Mac.
The use of Rosetta ended with OS X Snow Leopard as the Rosetta application was licensed to Apple, from a software company called Transitive, which got bought out, I believe, by IBM and Appe  could no longer secure their rights to continue to use Rosetta in later versions of OS X.
So, you would need to check to see if you have software on your Mac that maybe older than, say, 2006 or older.
Also, check for app compatibilty  here.
    http://roaringapps.com/
If you have any commercial antivirus installed and/or hard drive cleaning apps installed on your Mac, like MacKeeper, CleanMyMac, TuneUpMyMac, MacCleanse, etc. now would be a good time to completely uninstall this apps by doing a Google search to learn how to properly uninstall these types of apps.
These types of apps will only cause your Mac issues later after the install of the new OS X version and you will have to completely uninstall these types of apps later.
Once you have determined all of this, you should be able to find the latest versions of OS X by clicking on the Mac App Store icon in the OS X Dock and then login to the Mac App Store using your Apple ID and password and if you purchased a download code, input that code.
You can then begin the download and installation process of installing the newer versions of OS X from the Mac App Store.

  • My phone is full and cannot update software. What to do

my phone is full and cannot update software. What to do? What software can I get rid of? Can I delete Contacts I only use on my computer?
Since pictures fill up a lot of space and I have them on my computer should I delete most of them from my phone?

    Stronglady77 wrote:
what difference does it make if I update my iphone via my computer or through the iphone itself? How does that effect the available space problem?
When you update over the air, the file is downloaded, then expanded on your phone...you need free space to do that. When you update using iTunes, the file is downloaded/expanded on your computer, then applied to your phone. That's the difference.
Either start deleting stuff...or update on your computer.

make sure and backup contacts and needed files this will put your phone back  like new from Verizon this does not root your phone nor do you have to be rooted this is the official Full 2.2. update from Google
    1.  Download the update.zip file from . (DIRECT FROM GOOGLE.)
    2.  Drop the file on the root of your SD card.  (Meaning, don’t put it in any folder.)
    *MAKE SURE IT’S NAMED UPDATE.ZIP!
    3.  Turn your phone off.
    4.  Press and hold the Volume Down and Power at the same time to boot into HBOOT.
    5.  When the white HBOOT screen appears, use the volume button to move down to “RECOVERY.”
    6.  Press the Power button to select “RECOVERY.”
    7.  When the triangle and exclamation appears, hold the Volume Up and Power button at the same time.
    8.  Using the volume button, scroll down to “apply sdcard:update.zip” and select it.
    9.  Your phone will now update!
    10.  It could take some time, so be patient.  When it reboots, you are on official 2.2.
    Note
If you don't see the extention .zip  just name it update some computers hide the file extention
either way it should only be named update.zip    == not update.zip.zip

  • IWeb publishes updates but does not upload in the FTP

    HELP!
I have a 'tried-tested-true' website that's been on the internet for 10 years. It's been updated over the years but needed much more as of today.
The updates perfectly publish within iWeb [3.0.4]. The FTP uploads the site, but when I check it on the internet [Safari 6.2.3], the former version appears.
I proceeded to troubleshoot by renaming the website and re-mounting the pages. Also, renaming the pages, but after several attempts of uploading each newer version, all efforts were to no avail. It has taken me a full day without results. That is, the original website remains on the internet, which is very outdated.
I have run out of troubleshooting ideas. All of my other websites have not had this problem. There was an issue this week with the ISP Domain Host services not connecting my site. I contacted them, but have had no response. However, I thought I would try connecting again today in case they sorted out their connectivity issues. I am able to connect to their server. I have good reason to believe the FTP is uploading the updated directory files, but for some reason when it comes to viewing the site on the internet, au contraire.
Not sure if this is an iWeb problem or my ISP domain hosting services having issues with connectivity. Whatever, it is very perplexing to me as to what to do next after the extensive amount of time I have taken troubleshooting.
I repeat myself when I say, 'HELP!'

Okay, I understand what you are referencing. I am publishing my websites to the path of 'Users'-Documents-Website Documents.
Below is a screen shot of the folder my Websites are located. Is this what you are referencing? It is Site 2 that is having issues with uploading to the domain host server of my ISP. All the other sites have been uploaded successively.
I use FileZilla as my FTP server and it has been excellent. I have tried CyberDuck, et al. FZ works perfectly well indicating all that one needs to know while uploading. If my other websites were causing the same issues, then it would mean FTP issues.
However, I believe I am on the same track you are referencing with regards to my published website is in the appropriate location on my HD. I stand to be corrected.
I believe by my contacting the Forum and reading your information that I am following protocol as I have always done with my 4 websites that upload properly. As I continue the discussion, it is becoming evident the issue is with the Domain Host server, which is not a problem to post on this Forum.
However, I posted my issue just in case it was an iWeb issue or my not following protocol correctly to publish a website. From what I am gleaning with your information, I am following protocol. Repeating myself when I say it appears to be the aforementioned server. I have contacted them again about their Domain Host server but no response as yet.
If what I am presenting to you is the correct protocol I have in place at my end, I thank you for taking the time to assist me. By doing so, I believe I will be able to determine it is not an iWeb publishing issue [mostly because all my websites are not experiencing this problem], nor is it the FTP server,FileZilla, but the Domain Host Server.
As mentioned above, here is the folder where my websites are located.
    I so appreciate your assistance.

  • SCUP 2011 publishing updates with incorrect source path

I'm encountering an issue where scup is publishing the incorrect Source Path for updates it publishes to CM/WSUS.  When I import an update the Source Path will be a location on one of the 5 CM site server's Wsus instances (ie
http://{siteserver}:8530/12/{longguid}.cab) Which server is chosen of the 5 seems to be random.  If I get lucky and it picks the #2 server I will be able to download the package.  If it
picks one of the other site servers the download fails.  I'm verifying the source path by right clicking on an update --> properties --> Content Information --> source path.
I have some workarounds for now but am looking for a permanent fix.
Here's some details regarding our environment:
Server 1:  Primary, hosts the CM db and WSUS db, has WSUS management components installed
Server 2:  CM Site server running the DP, MP, and SUP roles.  Full WSUS install, this server is the main wsus server acting as the upstream source for the other 4 site servers.  Has rights/access to the internet.
Servers 3-6:  CM Site server running the DP, MP, and SUP roles.  Full WSUS install.  No access to the internet.
All servers run Server 2012 R2
    CM version:  2012 R2
    SCUP version: 2011

  • Saved and published updated website, changes not saved in iweb.  Have lost all work in iweb but correct site is on the internet.  Can I retrieve site from internet and replace to iweb so can continue updating?

Just finished updating web site, saved and published.  Showed up on the internet finr, went back to do a few tweeks and all my days work is gone!  Fine on the net gone in iweb!  I don't want to loose the days work.  Is there any way to get the website from the internet and stuffit back into iweb, without redoing all the work?  Why didn't it save?  Wjat can I do to prevent this happening again?  Where did I go wrong?

Publish you site to a folder on your hard drive and open it locally with your browser.  Check to see if the site is all there.  If not
    Try the following:
delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
launch iWeb and publish to the folder again.
If that doesn't help continue with:
move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • IWeb wont publish updated pages to site using Mobileme

Tried to publish 2 updated pages to my current iWeb site published on Mobileme. Am directed through a Facebook username and password login. (Don't remember this step from prior publishing.) Then nothing happens. No site update. No option to publish site available within iWeb. And no way I see to save my changes made in iWeb before I exit the program to try to figure out. I have lost work twice. What is happening and how do I correct the trouble?

You must have checked the box next to "Update my Facebook profile when I publish this site."
Click the site name at the top of the left column in iWeb to get to the Publishing Settings page to change this.

  • Publishing cancels with "access denied" error when publishing updates to desktop layout

    Hello, all,
Wondering if anyone else has run into this issue: we update and republish our help projects frequently. We're currently using a layout based on the desktop layout (colors, fonts, and some other screen elements have changed). The project generates successfully. We publish via file transfer and have the "republish all" setting selected. Sometimes when we publish our multiscreen HTML5 layout, it cancels about halfway through the estimated time with a "publishing cancelled - access denied" error. If we delete the layout folder ("desktop" in this case) from the publishing location and retry publishing, it succeeds.
Has anyone else encountered this issue? If so, what fixes (other than deleting content and republishing) have you found?
FYI, we also publish the same projects to the WebHelp Pro layout without any issues.
Thanks in advance for your help.

This problem used to occur with Publishing from Rh but I have not seen it for a long time, either myself or in posts.

  • IWeb not publishing update- just asking to log into facebook and freezing... Help, please!

When I "Publish site changes" on iweb, a facebook login pops up, and regardless of whether I sign in or not, nothing happens and iWeb freezes.  the updates never publish, and I don't have the option to try it again. If I quit (sometimes have to force quit) iweb, it says "quitting while your site is publishing can cause problems", but I have left it open for hours, and nothing ever happens.
    Please help!

    Heidi,
Go ahead and force-quite iWeb, it shouldn't hurt the website file. However, just to be safe, open ~User/Library/Application Support/iWeb, and copy (not move) the Domain.sites2 file in there to your home folder before force-quitting.
For some reason, the "Update my Facebook" feature in iWeb causes it to freeze. To fix this, simply untic the Facebook box in the website publishing settings page. Then it will publish correctly.

If I add something to one of them, maybe a single picture, and I want to publish the change, I hit "Publish", but it ends up re-publishing all my sites, I can tell because it says what it is publishing and it goes through all my sites. A small update can take minutes to publish because of this.
Also, then when I "announce" web-site through email, ALL my sites are listed. I can delete the others from the email message, but still...
Is there some way that I can make these two annoying things go away?

    Hi everybody,
If you have multiple websites that are completely independent from each other and publish to the same .Mac account and use iLife '06 you might have a look at iWebSites
    http://mistergregg.com/cocoadrillosoftware/iWebSites/
If you publish to folder have a look at the following page instead
    http://multiplewebsites.iwebfaq.org (Chapter 4)
However, just to be sure, no matter what you do you should always make a backup before. Here's how:

PS: I hope I could help you at least a little bit...

  • Only publishing updated pages.

In iweb '08 v2.0.4 is it possible to only publish the changes u have made? Or do i have to publish the entire site every time?

Melanie ~ It depends where you're publishing to and the FTP app you're using...
If you're publishing to MobileMe, just hitting the Publish button should upload only updated pages.
If you're publishing to another host, the FTP app you use needs to have a "synchronization" feature: Cyberduck is often recommended and Easy iWeb Publisher is an alternative — see this article and video. (Both Cyberduck and +Easy iWeb Publisher+ are free.)
