  • Critical update won't load for office 2011 released 2.10.15

    A critical update appears  for Office 2011   released 2.10.2015   14.4.8  113.6 MB
    This update fixes critical issues.
As soon as it goes through all the install process, it says it was successful, Then it immediatlely shows up as a critical update needed AGAIN.
I can't figure why it will load.
    Thanks

Does the ext directory have the php_oci8.dll? In the original steps the PHP dir is renamed. In the given php.in the extension_dir looks like it has been updated correctly. Since PHP distributes php_oci8.dll by default I reckon there would be a very good chance that the problem was somewhere else. Since this is an old thread I don't think we'll get much value from speculation.

  • When will the ACROBAT PDF function work again for Office 2011 for MAC and PC?

    HELP!!!!
Adobe Tech support suggested I submit my comment to this post in hopes  that this will help resolve the issues.  I feel for them having to field  these calls.
I can no longer convert Excel, Word and Powerpoints to PDF.  If our company converts one Office doc to PDF a day, we do at least 50 conversions to PDF.  Since the 9.4.2 update, the PDF feature does not work on MAC...and since the 9.4.4 update it no longer works on a WIN system.
We have Acrobat 9 on all the MACs and PCs in the office.  We downloaded Acrobat X to test it out when it first launched.  Other than some nice bells and whistles with the convenient interface and new enhancements to the Portfolio feature, Acrobat X still does not do the basic function Acrobat was designed to do....convert to a PDF.
We began converting PDF's on the WIN systems because the file size and object data handling on MAC had become difficulty over the past year (lost fonts, file size bloated, etc).  Now, nothing works on either system.
Last year Adobe and Microsoft Office suggested we upgrade to CS5 and the new OFFICE to fix the problems.  MAC remains closed box which is why the system is so clean, but poses a real challenge when running non MAC software.  Now Adobe advises that Acrobat only works on the previous version of Office (?), but not 2007 and that they are not compatible with the new office even thought it worked just a few weeks or so ago. Unfortunately, we have used some of the new features in the new Office and now are being asked to go back a step.
OFFICE automatically turns on your 90 day free tech support now when you call in to tell them PDF doesn't work.  They feel they are giving YOU tech support.   Last year, the Microsoft Office group advised that once they hand off to the PDF processor, that function is all Adobe.  And it seems that Apple has their own Quark processor running scripts in between the two functions which is why the PDF file sizes are bloating on MACs.
The Adobe Acrobat engineers at AdobeMAX suggested to run Paralells or VMware on MAC in order to convert files to PDF properly/small size  (which is what they say they do to get around the object data and bloating issues internally on their own MACs).
I know so many colleagues now who just run dual systems (WIN/MAC) so they can realize the full function of the Adobe software.  It is not convenient when traveling or cost efficient for small businesses, but that is what we had to do to get our jobs done.  I "HAD" a couple of the most incredible PDFing maching in my office until about a week ago...a $4k mega WIN System raided, 2 SDDs, 2 1TB HDDs, major video card, etc....and they are sitting lonely because PDF doesn't work anymore.  But goodness, how fast it converted things to PDF.
Is there another patch coming imminenty to fix this issue?
I don't really care if there is a 32 bit or 64 bit issue.  Customers pay premium price for the software which boasted 64 bit, etc and it should work as advertised. I ponder, are all my macs 64bit now???  They still don't work either.  Customers depend on the software to do even the most basic functions in daily business and should not have to spend hours on the phone trying to figure out a problem that has nothing to do with them or a workaround because their investment did not work as advertised (and has genereally worked for years)....
One click of the button should be all that is necessary to make a PDF and make people everywhere happy when they need to send a secure output of their huge powerpoint to a customer to get business or their child's project for school that morning.
Is there a software war going on between the companies?
Are they rushing to market too quickly?
Do the companies thoroughly test the patches before running the updates?
Are there not enough API's or "hooks" allowing companies to make their products work with the different hardware, firmware, etc?
I don't really care what the internal issues are. Just fix it!  The software should work as it is marketed (including the platform) and these companies need to get together and make it work (if that is the case) so their loyal customers can get their jobs done enabling them to purchase the next version of software that is suppose to be better than the last for their work.
Posted Respectfully and with hope this issue will be resolved promptly!

    Mr. Jones,
    You are a real lifesaver!!!
It worked on the Mac.  Will have to do some searches to find the same on the PC since the same is happening.
Do you happen to know why Adobe is saying they are not compatible with Office 2011 now?  I found a link on the Adobe webite along those lines yesterday, but was not able to find it this morning to insert into this post.
Our CEO had a real meltdown at about 2am the other morning when trying to pdf something for a meeting the next day.  Was not very pretty.
    THANK YOU!!!

  • Is 2gb of ram enough for office 2011

I just received a MacBook air with 2gb of ram. Is this enough to run Microsoft 2011? I'm wondering if I should upgrade to 4gb

Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac works great. I have it running on my OSX partition with no problems. I normally run several large PDF's, documents and presentations at the same time. I haven't tried crunching my large spreadsheets yet. I am sure I will try that in the next couple weeks.
One other thing, Office 2011 installs the Microsoft Document connection which will let you save your docs directly to the skydrive, which is very nice. It's a good way to save the space on the laptop and store the docs so you can access anywhere, anytime on any device.

  • Microsoft SAM: Used software to get compliant or other option for Office 2010

I wouldn't buy used Office. Chances are someone's still using the software and figured they could make a quick few bucks. Also, while once you hold the product key and media you technically own that license, who's to say they didn't max the activation count prior to sale.
If you're intent on Office 2010, perhaps you could find some unopened Product Key Cards for purchase.

We are still kicking the can down the road with Exchange/Outlook 2010 utilizing Public Folders and a custom application that runs against them. Got hit with a SAM audit and short a few licences of Office Home and Business 2010 (Retail/FPP). As far as I am aware my only options are Volume Licensing Office 2013 and use the downgrade rights or buy used licenses of Office 2010 (Retail/FPP). My research has noted that they no longer offer Office 2010 through Office 365. Any thoughts or concerns?

  • OWA 2013 - No download option for office documents

Using Chrome, Firefox and IE browsers I do have a "download" option right next to the attachment as long as the attachment is NOT an office document (.doc,xls,ppt,etc). If the attachment is an image, a download link is right next to the attachment
    as expected.
But if the attachment is for example a .docx file I only have a preview option available and no download. Also right-click to Save-As only shows an HTML download.

  • Mac for office 2011 will not load

  • Low-cost OS X purchase option for obsolete iBooks?

I have some obsolete iBook G3 500 mhz / 10 gig / 128 meg / CD and iBook G3 700 mhz / 20 gig / 128 meg / Combo. I have been thinking about just throwing them in the trash. Someone tells me, no no don't do that, you can sell them on ebay for ... $50 each or so. Woo.
(Oh, and yes a bunch of them do have that powerful sweaty "iBook Stink" keyboard problem. I am not sure what the official Apple solution is. Anyone tried applying Old Spice to a keyboard?)
Well the only way they are going to be useful is to run at least a newer OS than the 9.2.2 / 10.2 they have. And If I have to pay $120 per license for 10.4, there's really no point starting this exercise and I should go back to the original plan, electronics waste disposal. Preferably with a sledgehammer.
Microsoft has a way to deal with this. They practically give away Windows XP and now Windows 7 for low-cost rebuilt PCs through their refurbisher program, and the licenses cost something like $5-10 per computer.
    Microsoft Refurbisher Program
    http://www.microsoft.com/refurbishedpcs/programs.aspx
Is there a refurbisher licensing program for cheap old licenses of OS X, from Apple? I am not finding anything.
But I went through this previously. I'm mainly just looking for an update.
I wrote to Steve directly a few years ago asking about free or low-cost OS X licenses for these obsolete Macs, and Apple responded with the name of an electronics recycler near me. (Really!) Once support ends in about 3-4 years, who cares? Apple sure doesn't. And besides, you should be buying "the next one", to stay all hip and cool and "with it", anyway.
Still looks like trashing them is the best option, as trying to sell them for $20 per machine with 9.2.2 / 10.2 is not worth my time to pack and ship them..

    txformer wrote:
    Apple sure doesn't.
    Precisely.

I have no idea what Apple has to lose by making say 10.4 available cheaply, certainly no sales loses
No? Through forced obsolescence you are removing older computers from the market and obliging people to buy newer, so faster turnover and sales of newer (unless they decide that they give up on Macs).  Fast forward 5 years. Scenario where Apple sticks with their pattern of no longer selling old versions, nor will they be available on disc because it's all download.  How will you get hold of Lion 5 years from now to make a 2008 Mac functional in 2017?  I suspect the used Mac market will really be hit hard because our current means of updating older Macs by finding old discs on the used market will be gone.  Right now I can buy a 6 year old OS (Leopard) to make my 10 year old Quicksilver still pretty functional in 2012.  I am not sure we will be able to do the equivalent in a few years from now becuse we won't have a means of getting hold of the new system versions unless you buy one now and stick it on the shelf "just in case".
Only thing I can think of is maybe a Family Pack install Disc.
Technically those are for family use, not selling 5 computers to anybody on e-bay.  In that regard you'd be no better off with a family pack than a single installer.

  • Bluetooth option for a 2011 Honda Pilot and a 2011 Honda CRV.

I saw on Ebay a kit made by Isimple for the Honda Pilot and Honda CRV.  Does best buy sell this kit and install it?  its called:
iSimple iSHD571 iPod, iPhone, Bluetooth, HD/Sirius Radio Interface for Select 2004-11 Honda/Acura
    Product ID: iSHD571
It works thru the Radio/Stereo of a a XM equiped Honda.
    Thanks

We do not seem to carry the ISHD571, but I took a look at the contents of it and it seems that the ISIM73 that we do carry comes with all the same parts.
    The contents of the ISHD571:
    1. PXAMG (the actual module itself)
    2. PGHHD1 (harness that connects the PXAMG to your factory stereo)
    3. AUX cable
    4. Ipod specific cable
    The contents of the ISIM73:
    1. PXAMG
    2. PGHHD1 (plus a few more harnesses for other makes)
    3. AUX cable
    4. Ipod specific cable
From what I can tell, they are the exact same thing and the only difference is that the ISIM73 come with more harnesses to use on other vehicles.  The application guide on the box only shows those vehicles to 2010, but if the 2011 uses the PGHHD1 harness...it is in there.

  • Blackberry sync with office for mac 2011

I just received this reply from Mac Topia forum:   "For Office 2011 we’re using Apple’s standard sync protocol, Sync Services, to enable synchronization with a variety of devices and applications, and third-party vendors provide plug-ins to enable Sync Services for devices like the Blackberry"
Is there a plug in as they suggest above?

You may need to rebuild permissions on your user account. To do this, boot to your Recovery partition (holding down the Command and R keys while booting) and open Terminal from the Utilities menu. In Terminal, type:  ‘resetpassword’ (without the ’s), hit return, and select the admin user. You are not going to reset your password. Click on the icon for your Macs hard drive at the top. From the drop down below it select the user account which is having issues. At the bottom of the window, you'll see an area labeled Restore Home Directory Permissions and ACLs. Click the reset button there. The process takes a few minutes. When complete, restart.

You also need to update it to version 14.1.4, if you move the applications from that subfolder, the update process will probably fail.

  • Office for Mac 2011 - Visual Basic

I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for a good place to get Visual Basic tutorials for Office 2011. I have zero experience in Visual Basic, and limited experience with formulas, tables, lists, and Pivot Tables, so the tutorials should be beginner-friendly.
What I'm looking to use it for is automatically generating spreadsheets with four or five tabs using one outside data feed (.csv uploading) and five or six formulas of my own design.
I've been using lynda.com to learn some technologies and their tutorials are very easy to understand and thorough. Unfortunately, they don't have anything specific about Visual Basic.
Any guidance from the extremely helpful Apple community would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I was aware of both the help menu and the help forums. I had gone through the tutorial you linked to previously (got there from Excel help) but it had a Word table generation tutorial, so it wasn't exactly what I was looking for.
I recognize the increased effectiveness and decreased clutter of putting questions in the right place, but I wasn't exactly asking a help menu type question. I mentioned a location of tutorials that I'd found helpful for other topics and that many people are familiar with, hoping to find a similarly structured tutorial for this topic.
In my opinion, it's at least equally irrelevant to suggest a location that is not directly related to the question as it is to ask a question about a software made by another company. And way more condescending.
@Dimaxum: I, too, am familiar with this up and coming technology of internet perusal called google.

  • Issues with Office 2011 on my OSX 10.5.8 Air

I recently purchased and installed Office 2011 on my first generation macbook air.  The operating system is OSX 10.5.8 and I re-installed that recently as well.
The issue I'm having revolves mostly around outlook, and that is that it STALLS like nobody's business.  Mostly when I am composing emails, but at other  times as well.  The spinning color wheel is all I see. I've noticed some stalling in word, too, but not nearly as bad.
I recently ordered snow leopard and am hoping that upgrade might help.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I use outlook for work and it's super frustrating to take 15 min to write an email....
PS, ran disk warrior and my computer doesn't seem to have any issues. I have 14.16 GB available.   Thanks for any suggestions!
