Pushing management agent from a Solaris machine to a Linux Machine?

Hi There,
Currently, the enterprise manager OMS resides on a solaris system, however, we have new hardware on a LINUX. From the enterprise manager can I push an agent to a target on a LINUX machine?
Thanks,
J

I hope this link is helpful its for 11g. it might work for even 10.2.0.5 and above. First you will need to download the agent script for Linux based on the platform either 32 or 64 bit. And after you download the script( I usually use wget) make it executable using
wget http://host1.servers.com:4889/agent_download/11.1.0.0.0/linux/agentDownload.linux (32-bit)
*$ chmod 744 agentDownload.linux*
*./agentDownload.linux -b /u01/OracleHome -m host1.servers.com -r 4889*
and you can follow this link.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your help,

  • What is SCVMM DHCP Server (x64) ? after pushing the agent from scvmm 2012 r2 console

    Hello Guys,
I have installed the agent from scvmm 2012 R2 console & notice that in add remove Program its shows two things one is " Microsoft System center Virtual machine Manager Agent (x64) other is Microsoft System center Virtual machine Manager DHCP server
    (x64)"
Need to know what is the role of this "Microsoft System center Virtual machine Manager DHCP server (x64)" on the server & why it get installed with scvmm agent.
    Thanks
    NM-BG
    NM-BG

This is a good question, and I am happy to explain why you are seeing this agent.
Windows Server 2012 introduced us for Network Virtualization using the GRE protocol (NVGRE).
In order to leverage NVGRE, you would have to manage your hosts entirely with powershell, if you didn't have VMM in place.
When VMM is in place (and really should be in place, when using NVGRE), VMM act as the complete management layer, also for the NVGRE part. Since NVGRE basically is a
policy driven technology, VMM need to keep track of every IP address used with NVGRE. During deployment of virtual machines connected to a VM Network with NVGRE (often referred to as Customer Addresses), VMM is able to configure static IP addresses
on to these VMs, using the agent you are mentioning. This was introduced in VMM 2012 SP1, and is also present in the R2 Release.
So to summarize, it is a Hyper-V Switch Extension that is required on all Windows Server with Hyper-V to have DHCP to work correctly.

  • How to delete a management agent from grid control completely?

I have installed oem grid control 10.2.0.4.0 on single host(oemlinux.oracle.com), and I removed agent10g, and reinstall a new management agent into a new location, but when I wanted to add a weblogic server to monitor, I got error as below:
More than one Enterprise Manager Agent was found for the host.oemlinux.oracle.com
I found there were 2 agents in em console, how to delete the old agent from em console, anybody can help me?

Click on the All targets tab, delete the agent.
Then confirm that the delete is in fact happening.
Click Setup, Management & Services Repository tab.
    Deleted Targets link.
Time Deleted Completed must have a date in there...
If all that fails - do a quick search - I posted the sql you can run against the repository to wipe it clean of an agent :-)
Not too that if you are removing the O/S software - you need to use the runinstaller to remove the Oracle Home from the inventory.
If you don't do this - future auto installs using the agentDownload script of the agent will fail.

  • Populate archive logs from production (Solaris) to new production(Linux) db

I want to migrate my production database(Solaris) to different environment(Linux)
After production database migration my production database(Solaris) will be up and running for 2 days.
We are going to check applications for 2 days on temporary production(Linux) database.
For 2 days my primary database(Solaris) will be up and running and generating archive logs. After that i want to populate those 2 days archives to temporary database(Linux).
Question 1: How would i populate 2 days archive logs from primary database(Solaris) to new production environment(Linux)
Is there any way/utility do apply generated archives to different database?\
I would be thankful for any expert suggestion.
    Thanks,

Is there any way/utility do apply generated archives to different database?\They have to be applied to the same database (identified by DBID).
As soon as you OPEN the Linux database (and do any transactions therein), it diverges from your Solaris database. You cannot apply archivelogs of the Solaris database to the Linux database.

  • How to send a Keepalive from a solaris machine???

    Hi,
Do we have any Java API or way to send a Keep Alive from a client before the server sends a RST.
I have done the following kernel level settings in the Solaris box -:
    ndd -set /dev/tcp tcp_keepalive_interval 14000
The reason we wanted to use keep alive was because we are seeing increasing number of IDLE connection in the Solaris box which is resulting in "too many open files error" and degrading the performance of the application.
netstat -an | grep IDLE | wc -l
    65000
Do we have any other way to flush these IDLE connections?

In your servlet that controls the AJAX requests, set the session's timeout interval to 2 minutes less than its current interval. That way, the timeout gets shorter every 2 minutes with every AJAX call (which occurs every 2 minutes). In your servlet that controls your non AJAX requests, set the session's timeout to 1 hour.
    //In the AJAX controlling servlet:
    int twoMinutes = 2 * 60;
    int inactiveInterval = session.getMaxInactiveInterval() - twoMinutes;
    session.setMaxInactiveInterval(inactiveInterval);
//in the normal request controlling servlet:
    int oneHour = 60 * 60;
    session.setMaxInactiveInterval(oneHour);
Another way around it would be to store current request time in the session. For your AJAX requests, compare the current request time with the last request time and subtract that from the MaxInactiveInterval, which would give you more accuracy and less cross-dependence on the interval of your AJAX requests.
    Ok,
I got the answer by this way...
    Thanks to ALL.

  • Streams from 9i Solaris to 9i Suse Linux

I am looking at replacing a materialized view log replication scheme from an Oracle 9.2.0.6 Apps 11i database running on Solaris to a 9.2.0.6 database running on Suse Linux with Streams. I haven't seen any info indicating that the hardware and o/s must be homogeneous only that the compatibility parameter must be 9.2.0 or greater.
Does anyone know if this is/is not possible?
    Thank you!

    This setup should be possible.

  • Update agent from SCoM 2007 to SCOM 2012

we installed another single SCOM 2012 r2 on another server.
when i push the agent from the SCOM 2012 to machine still monitored by SCOM 2007, the machine appear in pending management under device management under  setting
    tab
but when i remove the SCOM 2007 manualy, there is no problem and the installing of SCOM 2012 agent done successfully
any way to make SCOM 2012 agent automatically without remove SCOM 2007 agent ?
Ahmad Samir | MCSE 2003 | MCTS: Exchange 2010, MCTS: Lync 2010. MCTS: SCOM 2007

    Hi,
If SCOM 2012 and SCOM 2007 R2 belong to the same management group, then you are trying to make your agents multi-homing, and if so, just discovery them and push agent to them should work.
Here is a similar thread, please go through it:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/c6d15d7f-1779-47ea-a437-bc6ab00e2f64/upgrading-scom-2007-r2-to-scom-2012?forum=operationsmanagergeneral
And we may need to logon to one agent and check its event viwer for operation manager log for more details.

  • How do I add a management agent - mixed environment

I'm running a mixed bag of 8.1, 9.2, and now 10.1 databases; mostly on Solaris 8.
I've installed OEM 10.1 on WinNT, and it does a fine job of monitoring itself, but I'd like to add a management agent on one of our Solaris boxes.
Our Solaris boxes have several Oracle Applications instances, and therefore, several ORACLE_HOME's.
How can I install a management agent into it's own $ORACLE_HOME (so it will not interfere with cloning other $ORACLE_HOMEs)?
I think this should be simple enough... Just install it as a fresh install into a new $OH. However, I don't think I can use the agentDownload script to farm a management agent from an NT box to Solaris, and the OTN download page doesn't seem to have an agent download for Solaris.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
I opted for 341412's solution because it seemed simpler, and also because my NT box lacks oomph, and is physically a great distance from the target servers (This configuration is only for testing/evaluation purposes).
I installed the agent successfully. However, I can't seem to discover any of the services from the UNIX node. During the installation, the Agent Configuration Assistant hung, so I cancelled it.
    The log file states:
Error:*** Alert: One or more configuration assistants have not completed successfully. However these are optional, so they are not required for the correct configuration of your system.
It appears that the agent is running:
    ps -fu oracle
UID PID PPID C STIME TTY TIME CMD
    oracle 22103 1 0 12:07:37 ? 0:02 /d01/oracle/product/10.1.0/OEMagent/perl/bin/perl /d01/oracle/product/10.1.0/OE
I'm going to muck around with it some more, but if anyone can give me some tips, it would be appreciated.
Should I try running the configuration assistant despite the fact that the log file says I don't have to? Any other ideas?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

  • Powershell - Need to push a file to a remote machine (not in domain or workgroup)

    Scenario
    HomeComputer
    MyCloudServer
No WorkGroup or Domains between the 2
All I need to do is push a file from my local machine 'HomeComputer' to 'MyCloudServer'.  What is the best way to do this?
If I use Invoke and -ConnectUri my session is on the remote so Copy-Item only works for items already on 'MyCloudServer'.  I want to push the file from my desktop to this server.  I have all the rigts necessary to the box.
I tried start-BitsTransfer but can't seem to get that working
    Start--BitsTransfer D:\Testfile.txt
    https://MyCloudServer.net:5986/testFolder/testFile1.txt -transferType Upload -Authentication "" -Credential ""
I get the requested URL does not exist on the server.  Which makes sense since testfile1.txt doesnt exist yet.  I'm trying to upload it right??
What is the best method for transferring a file with powershell to remote computer not in a workgroup or domain?  Preferrably through IP I would think.

It's Azure  and they have specific ports on the VM's called endpoints for allowing remote connections.  By default the endpoint for powershell is setup out of box on Windows Servers.  I believe the port is 5986.  I've been able to connect
using this port with powershell and have been able to manage resources remotely through powershell. I'm looking for help pushing a file through some kind of copy process in Powershell to the remote server.  Is this not possible??

  • How do I install a management agent

How do I install a management agent?
I have OMS installed on Server A.
I have server B that I need to manage with OMS, how do I install an agent on that?
There seems to be no clear way of installing an agent, and pointing it to Server A for registration.
    I have tried:
    1. Downloading the management agent from http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oem/htdocs/agentsoft.html
    a. Running the ./runInstaller
    b. It fails with missing .rsp files, I've touched .rsp files in order to get the installer to run
    c. But it does not give me an option to install an agent, only an 'additional service'
    2. The mass installer
    a. I unzipped the agent .zip file into the appropriate directory on Server A
    b. Modified the agentDownload.linux_x64 file
    c. Copied the agentDownload.linux_x64 file to Server B
    d. Run the agentDownload script, with -b option
    i. The script downloaded some files from Server A
    ii. The script quit
I can't seem to find any real documentation on how to do this that actually makes sense and works.
I only need to install the agent on a few servers, so I don't need any mass install, surely, how hard can it be?

    Hi,
Eventually in a few months I'll be upgrading our current student server at
the High School I work at from Netware 6 and Zenworks 4.01 ir6 to Netware
    6.5 and Zenworks 6.5.
Each of the computers connected to the student server have a Zen partition
installed for imaging purposes and all the up to date desktop management

If I update from Zenworks 4 to Zenworks 6.5 without updating the Desktop
Management Agent to Zenworks 6.5, will the imaging, remote control, policy
packages, NDPS printing not work anyomre or will it all still work even
though the Zenworks version is 6.5 but all the computers have Desktop
Management Agents 4.01 ir6? I would like to update to Zenworks 6.5 and
slowly update the Desktop Management Agents(from Zen 4 Desktop Management
Agents to Zen 6.5 Desktop Management Agents) in each computer lab over
time, but if it's going to effect the imaging server policy, user policy
packages, remote control, NDPS printing etc... I'll have to plan the
    upgrade over the summer time.

1 - Methods for mass deployment
2 - Using Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) to install agent
    3 - silent installation
4 - NFS Mounted agent installation
I am running the runInstaller method (2) from the list above
Like i say i basically downloaded the following file from Oracle Downloads:
    AIX_Grid_Control_agent_download_10_2_0_3_0.zip
I FTP'd the file from my PC to the server i wish to be the agent.
I then ran the runInstaller from AIX_Grid_Control_agent_download_10_2_0_3_0/aix/agent/install.
However at no point was i asked to insert the OMS server or any other details.
I have read a couple of different readme files and followed what i believe to be the installation instructions. Could you or anyone else possibly throw any light on what i am doing wrong.
    again any assitance greatly appreciated

  • Management Agent service not created with 10gR2 RAC DB install on Win2003?

Our 10gR2 RAC installation on Win2003 platform didn't create management agent service. After installing and setting up current release of OEM with Grid Control (10.1) and installing Management Agent from 10.1 OEM distribution (install additional management agents option), agent service is up and running. However, there is one small problem:
All target configuration xml files are created under 10.2 Oracle home, and agent running from 10.1 home does not see them - which means database, listener, etc are not registered in OEM.
Is this a known problem, and is there solution for it?
    thanks,

GlobalBank.ESB application will be created only when you run DynamicResolution
    Setup.
run \Source\Samples\DynamicResolution\Install\Scripts\setup_bin.cmd to install GlobalBank.ESB application
    on BizTalk Server.
