PXE Errors - new install of CUCM on UCS C series servers
Hi All
I'm in a middle of production install of CUCM , CUWL and IM and Presence on Cisco UCS Servers C220 and C240.
Until last friday I borught the CUCM cluster along with CUWL server online and lastly just completed the install of IM and Presence PUB left home.
Then tried logging on Sunday from home via vSphere client unable to connect to these boxes and the webURL's either of apps didn't work.
I presumed something and then tried to gain access via CIMC port and after launching KVM console I see the attached PXE errors.?
I'm not sure why this happend all of a sudden nothing changed in the boot order nor in the network.
Please send me into right direction....this structure I had up and running from last one week and phones registered too.
Thanks
Mohammed
Never mind I figured it out myself and you'll surpised how fragile the UCS C series servers are as I was running them on single power supply and the inside hardware was acting weird for this purpose and once I connected the second power supply and rebooted the server the vmware loads and everything is back online.
How strange this issue was ...
Thanks
Mohammed

LXDE xsession errors - new install
Today I tried LXDE for the first time.
Every logout from the desktop puts nine entries into .xsession-errors:

ie two relating to ConsoleKit, two to UPower, four to Hal, and the last one - which would appear to be the most serious - I have no understanding of.
I can make both UPower entries and two of the Hal entries disappear by simply installing the "upower" package.
Can anyone tell me what may be causing the ConsoleKit, Gtk, and remaining Hal entries?
I should say I'm using LXDM and don't have xorg-init package installed. I can see nothing in the LXDE documents to suggest xinitscripts are necessary. Is this ok?
Thanks for any advice.

Does the UCS C-Series Servers supports PCI/e card digium T1/E1
Hello,
Does the UCS C-Series Servers supports/compatible with PCI/e card digium TE407P/TE420 T1/E1.?
The server will be used as Asterisk server.
Thanks
PhilipHi Philip,
Compatibility will depend on the server model that you have and whether the digium card is a full length, low profile, or half length pcie card. Take a look at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps10493/prod_models_comparison.html#~tab-a for details. If there are any issues with the card itself once it is installed it will have to go through the 3rd party manufacturer. -

Migration of CUCM on UCS C series to UCS B series.
Planning a move from UCS rack servers to newer blades. I was wondering what the Cisco recommended method would be. I see allot of people saying that you should vMotion things over but also that there are allot of caveats with it. I have also heard some people recommend Cisco Prime Collaboration Deployment but I can't quite figure out how that would work. So I thought I would ask the community for it's opinion on the subject.
CUCM is on version 10.5, nothing will be patched or upgraded in the move just the guest OS will be moved over. Also, these platforms do not share storage, the C series have the guest stored local and the B series will have a SAN.Yup, there it is in black and white, thanks.
By chance you wouldn't have a link to the proper method for moving a cluster do you? I know you move the pub first then the subs but I can't find a page that details the process. -
Can B-series sever ping each other within the UCS chassis without ethernet uplink? Please advice.
ThanksHi Kaivon,
1) The chassis has to be connected to a FI,
2) In the service profile you will have to make sure the traffic is send to the same fabric / FI
3) In the default behaviour it won't, however you can change the Network Control policy to make this work.
LAN Tab -> Network Control policy -> Create a new policy -> Action on uplink fail -> change it to Warning -> in the service profile on the vnic specify this new policy.
However for a production environment we recommen not to change the link policy to warning and leave it at link down to avoid any failover issues etc.

Nexus 5548 to UCS-C series network connectivity.
Hi There,
I am new to nexus world, mainly telecom side. I have a situation where a vendor like to deploy two Cisco UCS-C series servers for voice deployment.
Each UCS C240 M3 server has 4 NICs, 2 nics bonded 802.1q will connect to primary nexus 5k switch and other two bonded will connect to secondary nexus switch. we have a vPC domain and no FEXes so we have to connect these two servers directly to Nexus 5ks.
My question is it possible with teamed nics to coonect to 2 different nexus switches?
Can anyone guide me how can I achieve this design? see attached.
Thanks MuchIt will also depend on the Server network settings such as OS, software switch flavor and NIC teaming option on the server.
x- if you run ESXi, then you may check out the following KB article.
http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1004088
x- if you use N1Kv, then you can use LACP or static port-channeling, but be sure to make it consistent on the upstream switches.
hope it helps.

CUCM 9.1.1 Critical Error on Install
Hi All,
I'm trying to install CUCM 9.1.1 on UCS Blade (UCS B200 M2, PID: N20-B6625-1).
I keep getting Critical Error as soon as the install startes the Database installation. It is a new install and i'm using OVA template from Cisco website
Your help will be much appreciated.
Thanks
MohammedHi Mohammed,
that's a common problem of CUCM 9.1.1.20000-5 setup on Vmware: it doesn't seem to be related to some hardware incompatibility (I tried the installation on three different infrastructures, with the same error), but just a problem of this release.
The only solution I found was to install 9.1.1.10000-11 (or a previous version) and then apply the 9.1.1.20000 patch during the setup: probably you will still get a critical error, but the installation process seems to complete correctly...at least in my case.
I'm still waiting for an official answer from Cisco TAC.

Hello,
I ran a new install of Team Foundation Server and let it install the built in SharePoint pieces on a single server setup. After the install i'm able to access the
http://teamfoundation:8080/tfs/ address without issue but am unable to create a project. When I attempt to create a project I get the following error:
TF30172: You do not have permission to create a new team project (when checking security i'm a member of the project collection administrators and Team Foundation Administrators)
This led me to look at the sharepoint central administration site where I receive the following error:
Error 503 Service Unavailable
I've gone through and validated the identity is set correctly in IIS for the following services:
SharePoint Central Admin v4
SharePoint15AppPool
The SharePoint Web Services Root is set as LocalService instead of the domain user.
The identity domain user is setup as local administrator on the Team Foundation Server. They are all set to use .net v4.0.30319 with integrated Pipeline mode.
Any help would be great!
Thanks!
EricHi Eric,
Thanks for your post.
Please share your detailed team project creation log here.
In your TFS Admin Console>>Extensions for SharePoint Products tab, ensure SharePoint Web Application shows correctly in the right panel. And go to TFS Admin Console>>Application Tier>>SharePoint Web Applications tab, ensure your SharePoint
web application displays in the right panel, then select your SharePoint web application and click Repair Connection, ensure can repair successfully.
In your IIS Manager, select your SharePoint Central Administration V4 site and click Browser:17012(http) in the right panel, check if your SharePoint Central site can be opened successfully or not. If your SharePoint Central site cannot be accessed, I think
this issue relate to your SharePoint site, you should contact SharePoint experts to resolve this issue first. After you resolved this issue and your SharePoint Central Admin site can be accessed correctly, then try to create your team project(within SharePoint
site) again, if there still has issue when creating team project, please share the detailed error message here, we will try to resolve it.

You can try to repair the install. Also as this is a new install you can directly go for re-installing the software.
PS: Try to re-download the software from the service market place rather than copying the installer from existing one. -

Almost the same problem with the Adobe Media Player, which cannot play even the files advertised in its own browser, : adobe trainings from adobe related sites, and cannot update itself. It's almost brutal. How does this happen? -

Just a guess, but since everything is new, perhaps you have some sort of permissions problem.

[Solved] Grub Error 15 at boot on new install.
So I was trying to avoid asking for help, but I honestly can't see what's wrong with my new install of arch. I followed the beginner's guide all the way up to the part where you reboot and remove the liveCD. It all went swimmingly until I rebooted and got:
GRUB Loading stage1.5.
GRUB Loading, please wait...
Error 15
I don't know what's going on. Error 15 is supposedly "file not found," but I don't know what file it's looking for since I have a grub.cfg that I created from the steps posted on the guide. Any help is greatly appreciated.

EDIT:
Just to be clear I followed the BIOS motherboard steps for GRUB.

Wat your disk en partition lay-out?
-One or more harddisks?
-Partitions? Everything on / or separate /home /boot (/var)?
I'm following the beginner's guide instructions for a BIOS install. After chroot I used the following:
# pacman -S grub-bios
# grub-install --target=i386-pc --recheck --force --debug /dev/sdb
# cp /usr/share/locale/en\@quot/LC_MESSAGES/grub.mo /boot/grub/locale/en.mo
# grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
Aside from the warnings (that I think most people ignored) of a few files not existing during the installation of grub-bios, it all went fine. The harddrive is definitely sdb (fdisk -l shows sda as my windows drive, not to mention I just formatted and partitioned sdb). My partitions are laid out exactly as the guide tells me to (/ on /dev/sdb1 and /home on /dev/sdb2). They are the only partitions on sdb.

I don't appreciate your condescension. These forums have (up to this point) always been really helpful and friendly to me; just because I'm posting in the newbie corner doesn't mean I'm not familiar with linux, and even if I were unfamiliar with linux I would hope that you could show more respect and compassion for someone who needs help than to ostracize them and laugh about their problem. I posted here because I figured I didn't need to waste the time of the mods and users who offer help in the installation subforum with something that I assumed would be a trivial fix. I expected courteous, thoughtful responses. I was apparently wrong to assume.
I reinstalled because I didn't know what else to do, and figured that there might have been a chance that I made a mistake. Since your previous advice was literally getting me nowhere I figured the 10 minutes of my time reinstalling took up would be worth the potential of fixing my problem.
To answer your questions that are actually helpful:
I don't have grub installed on another drive and my drive and partition layout is detailed above. As for boot priority, it hasn't changed since I first installed linux in 2006 and it's worked ever since; I'm performing this operation to clear what was once a drive cluttered with a few other distros that I've abandoned since 2007 when I found Arch (yes I am actually that lazy).
Is it possible that my old installation of grub might have stayed on the drive even after I rid it of the old partitions (since it's stored in MBR)? If so does the installation of grub2 I'm performing not get rid of it?
Hope this helps,

I just want to clarify one thing. I am having issues with the presence install, I have added the presence server to CUCM 10.5 Presence is 10.5,
The book is a little confusing but really at the end of the day the versions must match and all you need to do to get CUPS installed is add it to CUCM as a CUCM I&M Presence server under the server tab on CUCM. I have been trying to get this installed for hours now. Network is fine I get the error message that says {You must add this to the CUCM Database"
Am I missing something?Hello.
I am installing a new cucm server and a new imp server. I have installed the cucm but when I try to install the imp I always get the same error (see the attached image). I have added the new IMP server in the CUCM configuration (system -> server). I have tried using the fqdn, the hostname and the ip address of the new IMP server with the same result.
And I have checked that dns resolution of the fqdn of the imp and the cucm is working.
Both of the servers are in the same lan segment.
CUCM version: 10.5.2.11900-3
IMP version: 10.5.2.20000-1
Any idea of why it does not work? The error I am getting is not very helpfull...
