PXI-5102 LV 2012?

Can I use a PXI-5102 with LV2012 on W7, that has DAQmx running on it?  Can I use the NISCOPE driver concurrently with other hardware running DAQmx?

  • I can't access to my ni pxi-5102 from max

    Hello.
My system is a ni pxi 8106 RT with labview real time software embedded in a chassis pxi 1042.
I have put into 2 cards:
    1) ni pxi-5102 digitizer
    2) ni pxi-7831R FPGA
When I open Max everything looks ok, I have the system in my subnet and I see it and the cards installed.
I have also installed all the RT software on the target.
    The problems are 2:
1)From max if I double click on the pxi5102 I can see only the information but I don't see channels(that should be 2). I tryed from data neighborhood to set an analog input but it says no supported device found.
2)When I try to open the visa test panel test says that the access to the remote machine is denied because of insufficient privilege.
    Do I have incompatibility problems?
    Did I missing some settings?
    thanks a lot!!

  • Trigger position is invalid??? pxi-5102 digitizer

Im currently trying to set up 2 channels to read at 8MS/s a peice for 1 second. Im getting the error " Trigger position is invalid." altho.. I dont even see a trigger position option from where I am gettin the error. Im getting the error at the Scope Horz Config VI. I have a picture of the setup Im useing, please le me know if im doing somthing wrong, thank you veyr much, im very puzzled over this.

The 5102 cannot have more pretrigger points than it has onboard buffer memory - 663,000 bytes. By default, the trigger position is 50%, or halfway through the buffer. Taking 8 million points/channel on both channels allows you 331,500 points/channel or a maximum trigger position of about 4%.
Set the trigger position using the reference position input of niScope Configure Horizontal Timing.vi. If you want to always be safe, use zero.

  • Why should I restart my PC after every switch OF+ON of PXI-1033+5102

Hi. I have NI  PXI-1033 chassis + PXI-5102 digitizer PXI-8430 (RS232). When I start the PC (Win XP) everything works perfectly. However, when I switch OFF+ON the chassis - nothing works (see img below) till I restart the computer.
The question is how to do everythin work without restarting the PC?
    Thanks a lot.

    Dear Westves,
You need to reboot your computer each time you want to re-establish connection between your PXI chassis/controller with your PC.
I'm afraid there is no work around for this issue.
    With Regards,
    Sammy Z.

  • Why are my PXI cards not recognized by Windows or MAX?

I have a PXI-1045 chassis connected to a PC through MXI-4.  When I turn the chassis and PC on with a PXI card in slot 2, the message "Windows could not load the installer for DAQDevice.  Contact your hardware vendor for assistance." appears, and the PXI card is not recognized (it is scene by Windows as an unidentifiable PCI Devices, though I have a DAQmx installed).
    More details:
    Windows XP
    LabVIEW 8.0 installed
    TestStand 4.0 installed
    Latest DAQmx 8.XX installed
    NI Scope installed
    NI CAN installed
MXI-4 PCI card installed in PC and recognized by Windows (as PCI-PCI bridge, and MXI-4 Device)
I identified PXI chassis 1045 in MAX and on subsequent boot up saw that MAX complained about pxisys or some other ini file (in the chassis status area of the screen) so I configured it as 'other' then put in the PXI-resorce CD and selected the ini file for PXI-1045, MAX no longer complains about pxisys and instead says the chassis is configured properly
If I have nothing but the PXI MXI-4 card installed in the PXI system and boot up the chassis then the PC, I get no errors
If I have a card in slot two (I've tried PXI-6509 Industrial Digital IO, PXI-2569 Relay Module, and PXI-5102 Digital Oscilliscope) and boot the chassis then PC, the message "Windows could not load the installer for DAQDevice.  Contact your hardware vendor for assistance." shows up when Windows boots and Windows sees a PCI Device but can't identify any drivers for it.

    Hello,
Can you post a screenshot of the problem? Are you switching on the chassis first or the PC? Please make sure that you switch ON chassis and then boot the PC. This typically happens when you have a corrupted installation.  I would suggest downloading the latest version of driver from here and re-installing it.
Please uninstall all the driver software from computer before installing the new software.

  • PXI bus mastering?

I honostly dont know what PXI bus mastering is, but I belive I need to find out pretty soon. I have a project in which I will be needing to take in 16 million samples, 8 million on 2 channels from a PXI-5102 digitizer, and then analyze. The board itself i know can not handle this, but what it can do is "16 million samples to host RAM via PXI bus mastering " This is great, I need 16 million samples, now... how do I do this? Anyhting to get me in the right direction would eb greatly appreciated, thank you very much.

""I honostly dont know what PXI bus mastering is, but I belive I need to find out pretty soon."
I do not think you have to worry about what it is unless you plan on dropping this device in a non-NI chassis or do not plan on using NI-drivers.
    PXI bus mastering
is a method interfaces can use to control the PXI bus in order to transfer dat from on-board buffers into system memory (or other devcies).
"Back in the Old days" (i.e. 30MHz CPU's) bus mastering was not available on all PCI busses. THen latter on it was available in some PCI slot on some computers but but not all (i.e. 400 Mhz CPU's).
I have never heard of an issues re: bus mastering in PXI chassis.
    So...
Drop that board in a PXI chassis and load up NI-DAQ, configure it, and you should be
good to go. NI did all of the hardwork for you!
If want to be certain before purchasing the board just tell ask the sales person to have someone send you an e-mail indicating that the devices will do "X". I have done this anytime I was less than certain re: the fine print in a device spec.

  • Calibration executive and PXI connection

1)I buy a calibration executive sofware. I need to calibrated a PXI 5102. I try to calibrated it but the program not see the module.
    How it calibrated it?
    2) I have a PCI-4060 multimeter how i connect it for calibrate?
    Call: Jose Medina 787-658-3535 ext.2086

    Hi Jose,
Any device you are calibrating in Calibration Executive should show up in MAX (Measurement and Automation Explorer) which should have an icon on your desktop when you install Calibration Executive. In the configuration window on the left look under Devices and Interfaces>>Traditional (or Legacy) DAQ. You should see your 5102. If it doesn't (I'm assuming you're using Windows here) check if it shows up in the Windows Device Manager, accessed by going to Control Panel>>System>>Hardware>>Device Manager. If it doesn't show there, then let me know. Oftentimes going through those above steps will bring up either a Windows or NI troubleshooter that you can use.
Once you have the 5102 located you can use the following document to calibrate it:
    http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/371338a.pdf
Additionally, you can find all the connections to be made to the 4060 in the following document:

    Hope this helps!

  • Number of elements in the FP affecting the performance of my application ?

I developed a simple application which consists of aquiring a signal through a channel of a PXI 5102 module and commanding some relays of a SCXI 1161 module.
This application has the following features :
-The user can, at any time, change the configuration of the PXI 5102 module.
-The signal acquired can be saved to a file whenever the user wants.
-Instead of showing the signal acquired through the PXI 5102 channel, the user can load a given file which contains a saved signal.
-The user can increase or decrease the pressure on a line through a VI that commands SCXI 1161 relays.
As you can see, it is a fairly simple application but the problem is that it have been running for a time the fron
t panel crashes. Is it because the high number of elements I have in the front panel ?
To give you more information I tell you that the processes of saving, loading, decreasing and increasing the pressure on the line are event cases of an event structure.
The front panel consists of a tab structure, 20 controls and indicators and a cluster consisting of 9 controls.

No error take place. By crashing I mean that after a period of time the frontpanel control´s response to inputs of the user become so slow that after a short time there´s no response at all.
The problem is that I´ve been dealing with this problem in this aplication for quite a while and although I´ve optimized, I think, its execution time and the way it deals with memory usage this problem persists.
Since most of the operations performed by it depends on inputs by the user I´ve decided to use an event structure to manage them and decided to load the VIs related to them dynamically into memory to somewoh optimize memory usage.
In order to make things more clear to you I´m sending you a zipped file containing pics that completely describe the frontpane
l ad the block diagram of the appliction.
Any help you can give will be deeply appreciated.
PS : I´ve tried to sent the zipped file but awindow appeared notifying me that Developer Exchange is down for maintenance. If you need any more information to clarify what I mean please let me know.

  • Digitizer Selection

    Hi all,
I'm looking for a digitizer that has capability of measuring up to 300Vp-p and up to 1.5MHz sinusoidal waveform, and can be installed on a 3U PXI chassis. Anyone has any recommmedation on which vendor to use.
    Thanks
    Dan

    Hey Dan!
One way to go about measuring your signal would be to use a 100:1 attenuator probe (They are quite easy to find). Once you have the voltage down to 3V range we could use one of our digitzers.
I do not know what kind of resolution you are looking for but the PXI 5922 has excellent resolution. It is able to adjust the resolution (between 16 and 24 bits!) based on the acquisition rate to give you the best possible resolution for the speed at which you are acquiring the signal. It is one of our more popular digitizers.
If you are looking for a low cost digitizers (that get the job done) you could try the PXI 5102. It has a 15 MHz bandwidth and has 8 bits of resolution.
If you are looking for good resolution at high speeds, the PXI 5122 can sample up to 100 MS/s and has upto 14 bits of resolution!
These digitzers come with soft front panels that get you up and running quickly AND they were seamlessly with LabVIEW to give you complete control over your data.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

  • Trigger delay in NI-Scope 1.6

I am using NI-Scope 1.6 with PXI 5102. I can't seem to set the trigger delay
parameter of niScope_ConfigureTriggerSource() to any value other than 0.0.
My code looks something like this:
    niScope_ConfigureVertical( vi, "1", m_VertRange, m_VertOffset,
    NIVerticalCoupling, m_ProbeAttenuation, VI_TRUE );
    niScope_ConfigureHorizontal( vi, m_RecordTime, RecordLength, 0.0 );
    niScope_ConfigureTriggerSource( vi, "1",
    NISCOPE_VAL_EDGE,
    0.0,
    0.0 );
The call to ConfigureTriggerSource will fail if the trigger delay parameter
is anything other than 0.0. (At least it fails with the handful of values I
    have for a 10ms delay: 0.01, 10, 1, -0.01, -10 )
The failure reason given is: "BFFA0010 Invalid Value...Elaboration: Tri
    gger
    Delay is invalid."
How do I use the trigger delay with NI-Scope 1.6 and a 5102?
    Thanks,
    Chris Lincoln
    ULTRAX, Inc.

    Mr. Lincoln,
Thanks for using NI Developer Exchange! Unfortunately, the NI 5102 is not able to perform delayed triggering. Delayed triggering is supported by the NI 5112 for PXI, so this functionality appears in the NI-SCOPE instrument driver. The NI 5102 and NI 5911 also use this driver, but cannot support this feature in hardware. The NI-SCOPE driver call "ConfigureTriggerSource" is only meant to have a non-zero delay for the NI 5112 for PXI. One alternative (without changing hardware) is to start sampling immediately, then calculate how many points to delete in software to reach the desired starting point. Hopefully this answers your question.

  • Where can I find an oscilloscope VI better than those provided in the solution daq gallery ?

I plan to use the NI PXI-5102 Oscilloscope instrument. Is there any oscilloscope VI provided with this board.

The 5102 comes with NI-Scope which you can download here and you can also use the IVI Scope class driver.

  • Does the Modulation Toolkit support digitizers NI-PXI-5124 and NI-PCMCIA-5102?

I am using a demonstration NI-PXI unit to determine if it will support the application I am trying to develop. I need to demodulate a signal and determine the Quasi-peak value of the demodulated signal. The Modulation Toolkit states that it works with the 100MHz class of digitizers. Does it also support the 20 MHz and the 200 Mhz class of digitizers (NI-PXI-5124 and NI-PCMCIA-5102)?

    Kent,
The Modulation Toolkit is fairly robust. I believe that it will work fine with the 20 and 200 MS/s boards. However, these obviously have to stay towards the lower frequency end of the spectrum. The Modulation Toolkit is most powerful with NI's RF products and is designed to do so. However, as I said, I believe that since the MT stays mostly on the software side and does not care too much about hardware it will not care about where the signals are coming from and will work for you.

  • Driver NI PXIe 5641r for Labview 2012

hi. i have module NI PXIe 5641r and labview 2012, i installed driver NI PXIe 5641r; however this driver did not support labview 2012 softwave. help me please!

    Hello!
You should be able to download the PXIe-5640R 1.7 to work with your PXIe-5641R. Here is a link to that driver:

  • Windows "Blue screen of Death" when booting computer attached to LabVIEW PXI realtime system

Good Morning (at least in the western hemisphere)!
I'm having a problem on two test systems where intermittently, at least on one machine, I get a Windows "Blue Screen of Death" error message when booting the machine connected to a PXI RT system. I reloaded the RT systems software yesterday (LV RT 7.1.1, NI-VISA 3.3.1) and am having this problem on two different setups, two laptops, two PXI chassis. Our short term work around has been to boot with the network cable removed at one end or the other, but these are the baseline models for a larger test system in the design/construction stage that will not be used by knowledgeable engineers but by (probably more knowledgeable!) technicians.  Any ideas would be a help

Blue screens are almost always caused by drivers and not by applications, so chances are there's a problem on the driver level.  The crash log file will be instrumental to diagnosing this problem.
Turn on the crash event logging as described in this Microsoft KB:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314084/EN-US/
...and then post the details from the crash found in the Windows Event Viewer here. That will help us narrow the problem down.
