QM in Descreate mfg process

hi QM expert,
could any explain in brief QM in production process for the below  scenario,
one production order created in a day but inspection of in process martial every hour and production confirmation every shift,
plz suggest the setting to be done for above scenario  and where the default splits for operations to maintained,
thanks in advance,
mohan.m ;

Hi,
QM inspection in production process can be carried out at different levels -
1. Inprocess inspection is carried out during the manufacturing process if all master data maintained , system creates inspection lot of inspection type 03 at the time of production order release. Inspection type 03 is not stock relevant so no stock is inventory stock can be posted to QI stock
2. Inspection for good receipt is carried when you post the goods receipt for production order, system creates the inspection lot of inspection type 04 for goods receipt and also post inventory to QI stock ( If post to inspection stock for inspection type is active in material master). One or multiple inspection lot can be create and inventory can be posted to QI stock for goods receipt.

  • Scrap Valuation Report by Production Version.

    Dear All.,
Need the suggetions & help to me on the below mentioned scenario.
    Scenario
My Client into MFG sector. What ever the material produced by my client is have different production versions. Moreover, we have multiple plant in which few are Repetitive Mfg with Product Cost Collectors & few are Discreat MFG Process.
As we will get the scrap values after each confirmation by Qty & Value.
So, the user is asking the report on SCRAP for all the stages of Product (Structure in CS11) by Production Version Wise.
    Current Availability
We have standard Reports like KKFB, KOBB, KRM, S_ALR_87012151 - 52, S_ALR_87013148-49 & even in the cost estimate (CK11N) which are giving the Scrap details by Quatity & Value as well. But those value are limited to only one Prodcution Version.
    Requirement
I want the details on HOW CAN WE GET the SCRAP detailed analysis at Product Hierarchy with reference to all Production Versions.
Pls Give some inputs on this.
    Thanks in Advance.....

    Thanks for your reply.
could you please forward documents to anusha.r3 at gmail

I have some questions also..please help me.
    1. What is the flow in MTO process? Could you please explain me step by step process?
    2. Do we run standard cost estimate for MTO costing?
    3. What are step involved in month -end process like WIP or RA calculation, Variance and Settlement for MTO?.
    4. For MTS process we have material master setup with standard price(S) indicator for materials, what about materials master in MTO process?
    5. For RA calculation in project systems we plan cost and revenue on WBS and how and where we plan cost and revenue in MTO process?
    6. What is the difference between valuated stock and non valuated stock?
    Thanks,

  • Change in FG/SFG valuation system from STD cost MAP

As of now we use Std cost for valuation of FG/SFG and we would like to switchover to MAP for following reasons:
1.We donu2019t see any significant benefit  from present costing system. Std costing updation, monthly CO closing, periodical revision of STD cost is not really justifying any benefits compared to the overall efforts put in for above activities.
2.KE 30 reports fail to give correct productwise  contribution status as system loads all variance to quantity sold during the PERIOD( e.g If production is 1000 qty, sales 200 qty- , then system  will load the variance of entire 1000 qty to sales qty of 200). This is misleading. It is not possible to sale all produced qty in same period in our case.
3.SFGs being produced in one plant trfd to another for FG production. To produce final product X, SFG A is needed, to produce A, SFG B required, to produce B, SFG C required.  This is discrete mfg process and and SFG are produced in different plants under same co code. So, we are not able get contribution report of product X  as component SFG A it self contains OH/activity cost.( We want to calculate contribution company as a whole i.e Selling price minus material cost( actually bought out materials and not SFG).
We donu2019t want to go for material ledger, considering the manufacturing complexity. Now, we want to change price control of all FG/SFGs fromu201DSu201D to u201CVu201D on cut-off date after making stock NIL
Kindly  give us your expert advise on this approach. What are the challenges we will face by doing so.? Is there any company done this type of changes?
    MBS

    Hi MBS
    1. ML is the right and only solution for your expectations
    2. Whether you adopt V or S - CO CLosing is what you cant avoid... You will still need to do the whole CO cycle whether you have V or S
    3. Having price control V for In House Mfd materials will damage the inventory valuation forever... Refer Note 81682 - Pr.contr.V for semi-finished and finished, which explains this in detail
What you want is Actual Costing, which can only be delivered by ML
What you want to avoid is monthly CO Closing - Which you really cant avoid
If you still go with V - May be in future you would realise that S was better as suggested by SAP in the above note...
You can take up an enhancement with your ABAP team to develop the kind of reports you want... however, thats not going to be easy... Its gonna take very long to stabilize, even if achieved

  • Change over time setup between operations

    Hi,
    1) In the Discrete MFG process, there 2 operations. In between there is a change over time or cleaning up time.
Where do we capture these change over or cleaning timings?
    2) If i have 2 simultaneous operations, how do we handle them in routing?
    Thanks,

  • MTO with Forecast question

Please share your ideas with the below business process and suggest me..
We are going with forecast for FG so that we can procure ROH materials in subcontract mfg process, So I would like to go with PS 50 so that we will be able to enter PIRs and which generates planned orders which can not be converted to production orders, at same time requirement is passed to ROH and later will convert ROH purchase requisitions to POs. Here do I need to use any planning strategy for HALB to pass on demand to ROH from FG or keep blank for HALB and ROH, also ROH materials should be consumed by sales order quantity.
Also if possible could someone provide some general guidelines or best practices for subcontract mfg companies..

    Thanks for you reply...
Yes, we have FG, HALB, ROH structure...just need to procure ROH based on FG forecast..also HALB will be supplied by customer which will have batches and used in making FG..you said HALB as sales order, what is that mean...in our scenario we are cretaing SO for FG which has to consume ROh materials...HALB consumton does not matter since it will be supplied by them when tehy raises subcontract PO..in this case do i need to maintain any strategy at HALB or at ROH or can i keep blank for both?
    Hi,
In that case, you do not need to maintain any stratergy to HALB. Since it will be supplied by Customer and it will be consumed as any other material. you are not producing this halb in your plant, so do not need a stratergy for HALB.
Yes, Use batch managment, from FG to ROH, to trace and track you consumptions. so, maintain all FG, HALB and ROH in batches and FG is manufactured based on Sales order.

  • Rough material master record assignment to PC

    Hi,
I have some doubts with assignment of PC in Rough materials master.
I have created following PC groups:
    - Production ADM (with 3 Production Profit centers)
    - Products (with many Product PC for Finished Goods)
    - Services (with some Service PC for Services)
    - Commodities (with some Commodity PC for Commodities)
I have problems with assignment of Rough materials. Don't know where to attach them. Do I need to create Technical PC's for Rough materials or should I attach them somewhere else?
What will happen if a Rough material is normally used for further manufacturing, but sometimes it is sold as a product? What should I do in such a situation?
Do I have to use substitution to assign proper PC in the SD order line item? (for example to change Technical PC of rough material into PC for selling rough material)
    Best wishes,
    karol

    Hi,
You need not assign Raw(Rough) Material to a profit center. Materials are assigned to Plants, Plants to Purchase Org. and Purchase Orgs. to CC.  PC's are assigned to CC(Company Code).
Cost Centers are assigned to Profit Centers. Manufacturing process are defied through BOM & Routings, hence the cost centers to be hit by the mfg. process are defined there.
With the cost center determination in Routing the respective entries are passed in the Profit Center.
If you are selling a rawmaterial you need to maintain the sales org. views for the material. And the price in the Accounting 2 View of the Material master.  These are the pre-requisites for the sale.
Profit Center needs to given manually at the time of Sale, i suppose.
    Hope this clarifies your query

  • MFBF -Production confirmation through post with correction

    Hi Gurus,
I am working on the Repeditive MFg Process. Actually our process is converting 25kg bult material into 7g sachet. so we are keeping this 25kg bulk materil as a raw material in 7g FG Bom and doing MD11, MF60 , and then MFBF using Assembly Backflush -post with correction.
    ISSUE is:
System not considering consumed quantity entered in production confirmation. It is rounding up.
For Exp: While doing production confirmation, even though consumed quantity entered as 73 kg, but system rounding up to 75 kg (nearest multiples of 25 kg).
Note : (Alternate Uom conversion is 1 Bag =25Kg in material master)
How to get the exact consumed qty (UOM Kg) conversion to BAG .Like Consumed is 73 KG and the Bag conversion should be 73/25KG =2.92 Bag instead of rounding 73/25=3 Bag what we are getting now.
    Thanks,
    Manikandan.P

    Dear Manikandan,
If my understanding is correct, then there is no meaning in maintaining the stocks of unit of measurement like bag, barrel, drums
in decimal places. For eg a stock can be as 3 bag or 10 drum etc.
Allowing decimal places through CUNI for these UOM is not recommanded.
Check and revert back.(Also I guess there are similar issues that have been posted earlier, search and find the suggestions in
    those threads).

  • Viewing components of BOMs that are components of a top level BOM

    Hi All,
Can anyone help with the following issue; in EAM I have an Asset BOM, which has a list of components. One of the components is itself a BOM (a sub assembly) but I can work out how or even if it is possible to see the components of the sub assembly in any reports for work orders usiing the Asset BOM rather than just the name of the sub assembly component. This is in version 12.1.1.
Many Thanks for any help or suggestions,
    Paul

If you are on the BOM screen , you can simply go to tools > define subassembly to open the subassembly bom.
If you want similar screen on the Work order scren, you will have to write a quick personalization that opens up the Subassembly bom.
If you want it on a report, you will have to customize it.
The other option is that on your Parent BOM, you can make supply type of the subassembly = Phantom. This will make the subassembly components show up on the Parent's work order as well as on all WIP reports. But it also means, you will not get a demand for the subassembly at all. Instead, WIP/ MRP will explode the demand to the components of the subassembly. Make sure that your mfg. process supports this change.

  • Capacity Planning Formule

    Dear Expert
What is the purpose of maintain the Formula in Work Center Creation, if it is for scheduling purpose of order then how scheduling carried out by using these formula, plz be clear me by any example.
and what factor system consider during scheduling n how these factors are in connection with formulas maintain in work center.
During maintaining the formulas i come to know some formulas which seem same to me plz make it clear what is difference n them n when we should maintain individual formula formulas are followings
    SAP001:Prod:Setup time
    SAP002:Prod:Machine time
    SAP003:Prod:Labor Time
    SAP005:Prod:Setup Requirement
    SAP006:Prod:Machine Requirement

    hai,
in sheduling  system caluclates the time reqired to mfg(process) the materials based on the time required to perform certain activities in the shop floor , on work centers. The general activitys are setup of m/c , fixtures, jigs etc, machining time , labour time etc per unit of component need to be produced.
these activities are incorported in work center with a standard value key.
in Routing you will be confirming the planned timings of each avitivity.
so for this you need to define the activities like sap_01 setup , sap_02 machine etc in OP7B,
THEN create a standar value key like SAP1 ans encapsulate all the activites here.
you can create formule using OP21.
    for sap001
her if you are giving only sap_01 means you are capturing the time need for setup.
if your formul is for capture the m/c cost then: define formula sap002
    wherin you will be giving  sap_02 * sap_09 / sap _08
here sap_09, sap_08 is operation qty and base qty defined in OP7B.
the formule need to given in the workcenter.

  • EAM Asset BOM

    1. Can you please provide clarity on the EAM Asset BOM as per the manual it states that the items on the BOM is standard inventory components, so does this mean these items cannot be assets.
    2. When we procure the asset to you only procure the complete product i.e. one line on PO or can you receipt all the items as part of the asset?
    3. We in the process of investigating EAM solution for maintaining our assets, we have network towers and procure cabinet that is made up of a few items with high value, currently we receipt all those items as assets as we sometime move them out and also maintain and replace them, How do you treat these items in EAM

If you are on the BOM screen , you can simply go to tools > define subassembly to open the subassembly bom.
If you want similar screen on the Work order scren, you will have to write a quick personalization that opens up the Subassembly bom.
If you want it on a report, you will have to customize it.

  • KANBAN in house replenishment

Hi, I got some tricky requirement from my client, could you guys help me with this.
i two work centers namely W1, W2 with storage locations s1, s2 respectively. normally i do stock transfer to W1 kanban supply area K1 from main warehouse W. component C1 needed to make a finished material in W1 will be manufactured in W2 with name C2 which has components D1 and D2 with stock in S2. requirement is they just want to backflush d1 and d2 from s2 whenever kanban bin (for C1) in K1 is empty because they does not care any mfg process of C2 and consider only stocks of D1 and d2 for inventory purpose. iam thinking of creating production order whenever bin is empty and performing confirmation without printing any shopfloor papers so that i can backflush d1 and d2 and can do auto G/R of C2 to s1.
is there any other way to do this scenario without kanban because main purpose is to back flush components from s2.
    thanks in advance.

    Hello,
Your question is not clear to give correct feedback. Do you want to wprk with multiple KANBANS with production orders?
I am not understanding about the sentence "reduce the amount of production orders"
If you want to work work minimum production orders then you can automate the KANBAN replinishment through MRP.

  • 250MHz/400MHz Ti4200

    Quote
    250MHz core/400MHz memory
Are these the default clock speeds for the MSI Ti4200 DT 128MB 4x? Becuase the default clock settings are always 250 and 400, and i always thought it was suppoesed to be 250/500. Why are all the overclocking utilities telling me i'm clocked at these values?
Or more to the point why is my card's default settings, 250/400????
    Ginster ?(

    Ginster,
The original 128MB Ti4200 cards (any Mfg.) used lower speed rated memory chips (to keep costs down), hence, the memory clock speed was anywhere between 400MHz-450MHz.  Some Mfgs. (like Asus) opted for the higher speed rated memory chips on some of their boards and were able to offer the 128MB cards at a higher memory clock speed (and higher cost).
The 64MB cards, however, used faster memory chips - they were cheaper by comparison due to mfg. process and size (8MB each chip for 64MB vs. 16MB each for 128MB) and therefore the memory was clocked at 500MHz or higher (my MSI G4Ti4200 64MB has it's memory at 513MHz by default).
Since then, memory ic prices have dropped, so the newer boards (AGP 8x) are likely fitted with the faster chips - hence, the faster memory clock is applied again.

  • MII Screens versus ME SDK

Weu2019re looking at extending the ME assembly build screen that is more tailored to do bulk barcode scanning per our particular mfg process, weu2019ve done some mock up screens already in MII using pretty simple html entry screens and issuing the material to a shop order in ME, what is the optimal method for doing this, taking skill set and time out of the equation?
We believe that if we can do it through the SDK and have the screen installed as a client similar to the rich pod, then that would be the most efficient soln, as having the entry screen sitting on a MII portal would not be as robust.
We want to evaluate both, but would like to know if SAP have certain recommendations over one or the other? Any other folks have experiences when they evaluated doing one over the other?
    Thanks

    Hello Sean,
ME SDK is used to develop extensions that are not available in base ME release. For this purposes ME provides API to trigger base functions/processes/validations etc. Activities that are developed using SDK will be run within ME and use its security model. If you just want to create some external app that will be able to retrieve/manage data in ME database without any validations from ME side - I would assume that it can be done in MII. But it's not secure in terms of data integrity.

  • In-Process Quality Inspection in Rep Mfg

    Hi..
We have Rep Mfg scenario , and we want to chk the material while in-process.
In the Mtl Mastr we have maintained Insptn type as 13 .
In Rate Routing we have maintained a operation with  control key which requires Insptn characteristics n MIC is assigned in routing.
We have created a Planned order .
Now , requirement is dat system should not allow backflush activity until in-process inspetion rresult is recorded.
Whether Inspetion Lot gets created in Rep Mfg as soon as Planned Order is created..?
How to make the system to accomodate in - process inspection before backflush..?
    Please guide me with soln

    Hi
Try by selecting reporting point in the rem profile.
suppose u have 10 operations ok
first 3 operations are production operation then 4th u want to go for inprocess inspection then for the 3rd operation select the control key as milestone key and 4th is quality control key with milestone confirmation.
Then when ever u go for backflush(MFBF)  first u have to confirm the up to 3rd operation then 4th operation confirmation.
by this u can do the inprocess inspection scenario for REM

  • Process loss in Discrete mfg.

    Hi experts,
My Input material (raw material) for a product is 40g and the out put (Finished product) weight is 20g. where we will show the material loss in discrete mfg. MTO Or MTS manufacturing scenario.

    Hi,
There are two parts in scrap posting:
    1) Inventory
    2) Costing
If there is no physical scrap generation or no inventory recording of scrap is required as well as there is no cost credit of scrap material is involved then you can simply maintain BOM data as 4 kg of SFG for 2 kg of FG. So, if backflush is activated then during confirmation of 2 kg FG as yield system will issue 4 kg of SFG.
If inventory of scrap material needs to be recorded or cost credit of scrap material to FG production is required then you need to:
Step 1) Apart from SFG maintain material master data for scrap material (not sure backflush require or not)
Step 2) Along with SFG component maintain scrap material as component for FG BOM  but with -ve quantity (i.e. - 2 kg of scrap material for 2 kg of FG)
As scrap material is maintained as component in FG BOM, system will add one row for scrap material receipt in Goods Movement list during confirmation. And system will also credit cost of scrap material to production/process order (debit SFG component cost).
Try this and if require get back with your query.
    Bye for now,
    Devang
