Qosmio X300-p8700 and IrDA problem

Hello,
I have a question about the built in IrDA of this laptop.
I play left 4 dead 2 and fallout 3 a lot, but I'm not able to open my console in these games. I looked a bit on the internet and I find that IrDA is the problem. I enabled the console in both games and did what I found on the internet, nothing worked.
Could someone explain how to disable it on Vista?
Or is there something else that could cause this problem?

I dont play these games and therefore I cannot say anything about the issue with the console in such games
But if you want to disable the infrared port then you can do this in BIOS.
The second tab in BIOS contains the option called Internal CIR.
Disable this and save the changes in BIOS.
Then reboot the unit
This will disable the internal infrared port

Qosmio X300-13W GPU Driver PROBLEMS

Hi all,
I'v just brought my new "Qosmio X300-13W" and the Tempro Alerts say that I need to update my GPU drivers.
I go to the link provided by Toshiba that directs me to Nvidea driver downloads. The driver is "179.28_notebook_winvista_32bit_beta" yet when I try and instal the driver I am told-
(The Nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatable with your current hardware. Setup will now exit).
I have even tried Uninstalling the drivers first before updating and still no Success, BIOS has also been updated.
Is it possible the GPU firmware needs to be updated ??
I'm not a NOOB with PCs and build and repair on a professional level but am still stuck.

You misunderstood something.
The Tempro doesnt say you have to update the driver but it has notified you that a new version has been uploaded to the driver page!
But this does not mean that you have to update it!!!
Furthermore I visited the Toshiba European driver page and have chosen this driver posted in the Qosmio X300 PQX31E and found this info:
+You are leaving the Toshiba Website to get the generic beta driver from nVidia.+
+This driver has not been officially approved by Toshiba and is out of Toshiba warranty.+
If you want to install such driver then you can do this only at your own risk and you could install it in device manger;
There you have to choose advanced installation and finally have to point to the place where the driver has been stored on the HDD

Qosmio X300 -130 and Vista 64-bit - On screen Display doesn't work

Hi there,
I recently bought a Qosmio X300-130 notebook which shipped with Vista Home Premium.
The problem was that I could not get onto our domain at the office. So installed Vista Business 64-bit. I found all of the drivers online and everything works perfect except for my onscreen display (When changing the volume, contrast,etc). Can anyone please tell me what software or driver did I forget and where can I find it?

Qosmio X300-12H and Universal adaptor

I ordered the laptop Qosmio X300-12H UK version but im living in Belgium so the adaptor could be a problem. But i saw this: AC adaptor input voltage : autosensing AC adapter (100/240 V) for worldwide usage. Does that mean i can use the laptop ANYWHERE without buying a new *** expensive adaptor?
How can I know the tension, frequency of the computer?

In my opinion you should wait to see if the problem is there or not. If you don't want to use original adapter the best thing you can do is to order original one and you can buy it in Belgium.
Ok maybe is more expensive as some cheaper universal but maybe you should use original parts with this nice and not so cheap notebook. in my opinion it is better to be on the safe side.
On Toshiba support page I found info that Qosmio X300 needs PA3546E-1AC3 AC adapter.
It is AC Adaptor - 19V DC, 9.5A, 180W.

Qosmio X300-14X and 120 Hz display

What kind of exit HDMI in Qosmio X300-14X v1.2 or v1.3 ?
Can i connect 120 Hz display on this notebook ?

- HDMI is NOT DVI (adapter is needed)
- Hz (frequency) have nothing to do with your resolution (at first glance)
- and the max. troughput is theoretical means that you almost never reach it (except you alter ALL of the shown pixels at a time)
let have a look on your problem:
- look what frequencies your graficcard can provide, i am sure more than 120hz
- the max resolution is above the 1080p of full hd
to the problem +released in 2006 year+ - sure every technology needs time to establish and you will pay for it
even more as earlier you want it - how much have you paid for your machine...?
you can use a 120hz monitor with your machine
and if you exeed the max. throughput there will be shown so called artefacts (pixelblocks)
i am sure this will not happen during a normal game/movie...
and if it fails you can give it back... - so dont worry

Qosmio x300-14Y and Windows 7 - only 2 reproductors

I have problems with my Qosmio notebook after upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 64 bit.
The problem is that I can configure and only can hear 2 reproductors (Qosmio x300 14 Y has 4 + subwoofer which functioned well under Vista)
I tried to install drivers for soundcard from Toshiba website but with no success.
When I try to configure reproductors - then i can see only front left and right one.
I have additional 5+1 set witch I used back with Vista and now also listed only as 2 reproductors

i have made clean win 7 installation with c drive formatt, then windows 7 64 downloaded drivers - only drivers from nvidia have i downloaded manualy and off course sound drivers after problems.
the thing is that my 4+1 sound notebook is just 2 (stereo)

Not yet :D im that much smart to check PQX32E on but thats why im asking there is no solution on win7 drivers for PQX32E
now on i findout x300 series r similar to x305.. and i find drivers for them.. now im wondering if all the x305 drivers r same on models cos if u check the site (i checked all x305 series on http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=2261847& rpn=PQX32U&modelFilter=X305-SP6828A&selCategory=3&selFamily=804517 and they all look same) but im not sure if the all drivers r same kind mybe im wrong.. any idea ?

Qosmio X870-J11 and 3D problem

I'm having problems with the 3D vision by nvidia. What I see is a blurred image and not a 3D picture and the setup utility always comes down to failing the hardware test as the glasses just dim in sync about three times a second. It was working just fine in the beginning of November.
What didn't help: rebooting, updating nvidia drivers, removing the new driver and installing the recommended one.
Any ideas how to solve the problem?
The laptop is as it came, take the updated wireless drivers and bios (recommended by Toshiba Tempro app)

I did a couple of things e.g. bios and nvidia driver updates, but what i belive solved the problem was leting the 3D glasses on for a while to drain the battery. Another charging later and it worked. Why I did this? I somehow noticed that the glases worked in irregular intervals by looking through a single lens for quite a while.
So, yeah, no more problems with 3D for me

Qosmio X300-01U Graphic card problem

Hi
I had for some time problem with my computer constantly closing without reason. (for me at that time at least) And i learned later that it was due to the graphic card "failsafe" who turn the computer off to prevent overheat. As my computer was all clean and used on a normal hard surface i find it strange at start but i dealt with it.
Now i got a bigger problem, since a month my graphic card is just bugging without reason (Black screen and buggy sound without the possibility of doing anything except force a restart) on different games when i'm doing specific action in them. (Like opening the cellphone in GTA 4 or saving my game in Borderlands) I tried to solve this problem by doing a lot of things like updating bios and drivers, doing defrag, HDD scan, registry scan, using different drivers (those from Nvidia web site) I even tried to restore my computer to factory settings but the problem still.
The only possible option left for me is an hardware problem coming from the video card. As my one year warranty is over since nearly 3 months i want to know if it is possible to find a new graphic card for my laptop (just that part) and maybe even to know if it is compatible with other cards like a 9800M instead of my 9700M. (I'm located in Canada)
Or if ever you have a miracle solution i will be glad to ear it too.
If ever you want more information on my computer situation, just ask for it i will answer as best as i can.

I dont know if another graphic card would be compatible with your notebook. I think you should ask this an authorized service provider to get more informations about this upgrade.
By the way: Are you sure that the graphic card is causing this problem? If you can notice this problem with factory settings, its a hardware problem Thats fact in my opinion. But to exchange the faulty part the notebook should be checked from an authorized service provider.
Thats all what I can say but I think an ASP can help you more in this case as the user forum here. ;)

Qosmio X300 -123, Win7 and FN keys

I come to you with some problems due to my new installation of Windows Seven (Win7).
I Have a qosmio X300-123 and since I have installed Windows7 my FN keys aren't working.
I've tried reinstall the Value Added Package pack and my problem is not fixed.
Do you have any drivers pack for windows 7?

Is there a release date for windows 7 specific toshiba drivers and the Qosmio 123 ?
I still have seen no information on the news.

Qosmio x300-15u: device manager shows 1x 9800M GTS and 1x 9400M

Hi.
I have a Qosmio x300-15u and i have noticed in device manager it only shows 1x 9800m gts and 1x 9400m!!!
Is it right that i should have 2x 9800gts cards showing?
The spec for this machine should have 2x 9800 cards sli (whatever that means) So a total of 1GB video ram.
I'm sure im not getting the full performance of my laptop.
When i go into nvidia control panel it does not say anything about sli.
Btw; I am not running vista anymore.....
i now run windows 7 ultimate 64.

Are you using the Display Drivers supplied by Toshiba on the Toshiba Website? Or are you using the nVidia supplied ones?

Qosmio X300 - CORSAIR RAM is not working

I own a Toshiba Qosmio x300-130 and in users manuall it is said it support max 2 x 4gb ddr 3 =8gb
So today my CORSAIR RAM ARRIVED !!! AND i was suprised they didnt work !!!!
Ima out of tricks what do u think the pr is ?

Yup...... here is my story and how it went :)
it looks like modules with 1066 mhz are rare these days and apparently....... the newe ones which are 1600 will not work under any circumstance.....
So today the shop refunded my money and i decide to go by car and search for modules which are DDR3 and 1066 mhz and after 1-2 hours driving i found a small repair shop where, when i entered and asked they said they have.. and apparently this shop is collecting all these old modules and reselling them for good profit since these modules are more expensive than newer ones...
Anyway we tried Kingston, Samsung, Adata and many other companies all of them worked i wanted to buy 2x4GB=8Gb the which according to manuall the laptop supports max 8GB RAM !!! but i was shocked after we loaded the modules 2x8GB = 16Gb again 1066mhz ola !!!!
The laptop botted up and in phoenix Bios it showed 16GB !!! i was shocked ....... So i ended up buying the 16GB and went home happilly ever after ;)

Qosmio X300-13L - Drivers for Windows 7 32bit

Ihave several problems with my Qosmio X300-13I. Yesterday I installed a new Windows 7 home edition 32bit on it! The Installation runs without any problems!
After several driver installations and updates, I have in the Device Manager one Unknown Device and my Remote Control and the "Shortcut Buttons" to start Media Center and Dolby doesn't work! On the Driver Hompage from Toshiba I didn't find a driver for Windows 7! I had tried the Windows Vista drivers also but it doesn't work! Only the light is now on, but no button works!
Anybody has an idea or had the same problem?

I have Qosmio X300 too and have tried with clean Win7 installation but I didn't had enough time to bring it to the end but I can say that most important things were working well.
Important is Installations order. Here is installations order for Vista but you can use it foe Win7 installation. Follow this list and if there is some missing Win7 driver or Toshiba tool install the same but designed for Vista. I hope this will work well.

Qosmio X300-12H - Additional HDD Bracket

I own a Qosmio X300-12h and recently bought a second hard drive after finding out that it would hold a second one. After buying the hard drive I then found out that the seccond bracket was not placed in the laptop. Thus not able to install it.
Now the hard drive that I bought does fit into the area without a bracket but there is the possibility of it coming loose and causing more harm than good.
I have been all over Toshiba's web site including the page with my spec laptop and there is no sign of a bracket fitting to hold my second hard drive in place securely. And yes I have even gone to ebay but no luck there either.
If anyone has this spec laptop or simular to the X300 series could you please tell me if you laptop came with a second bracket or if you could like a web site that sells them this would be awsome.

Ok, good news to all the people who have had the same problem as me and couldn't find the part online because its almost impossible due to having such a bad description of the item and no pics to go a long side it.
I spoke to the Toshiba Parts department on and spoke to two lovely ladies who were very helpfull and made sure that the part I needed was the one that would correctly fit my laptop.
For you all to make this one billion times easy here is the part number for the X300-12h with any luck it should be the same for the most of X300 series "k000061060"
as to make sure that this is 100% compatible with your specific laptop as it might differ.

Qosmio X300-14P - System crashes

Hello,
my Qosmio X300-14P has an problem...My system crashes at least 3-4 times a day and the reason is not the operating system or any other program...I don't know what it could be...Sometimes Windows (I use Windows 7) says the graphic card driver does not work correct. But I've tried all the drivers and none worked right...I hope you can help me.

I think I got the same problem as you got. I used Vista 32-bit with 4MB Ram - but as we all know, we only can
use more RAM by using a 64-bit operating system. So I installed a Vista 64-Bit version and my problems started.
First, I had to install the new display driver - I used the new one from nvidia, but i did not work. Second, I used the
driver from toshiba and it did no work, too.
The problem was that my computer started as normal but after 2-3 minutes, the lights of the screen was switched
out, but you still can see all opened windows on the screen...... - and some minutes later, everything is perfect.....
for the next 20 minutes.......- i thought it is a hardware problem, but it seems to be a driver problem - i am still
waiting for an answer of Toshiba services....
Hopefully they got an answer. If I got one, I will let you know it - perhaps it works....
