Quarter-inch female to a 3.55mm male to connect guitar to my Ipod Touch 4th gen. It still records from mic and not from wire.

Hey everyone, I recently bought a quarter-inch female to a 3.55mm male to connect my acoustic electric guitar to my Ipod Touch 4th gen. Now when I connect it, it doesn't actually take the sound from the wire, it still keeps the mic open. Any suggestions?

You can try putting the iPod into Recovery Mode and restoring it:

If that doesn't work, then sorry but the jailbreak may have permanently corrupted your iPod. Since we cannot help with jailbroken devices in these forums, you'll need to look elsewhere for additional suggestions and advice.

Two days ago my ipod started doing strange things, so I switched it off. Now the right hand side of the touchscreen doesn't respond. It is a strip about a quarter inch wide running from top to bottom. I can't switch on apps or do anything on that side of the screen when any app is switched on. If I rotate the ipod when an app is on, that portion of the machine still doesn't respond, but the right hand side of the app does (if that makes sense!)

Try the standard fixes to rule out a software problem:
- Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod
if still problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Quarter inch issue

So, when I use a quarter inch to connect my keyboard to my firebox, it works perfect, but when I use a quarter inch to hook up my guitar it doesnt pick up much of a signal at all....the signal is tiny no matter what. (yes my guitar volume is up). Here's the kicker...when I connect my guitar with a mic cord (straight from the guitar into the firebox) it works great. so i've just been using a mic cord. problem is, some of my guitars don't have that particular input....they only have a quarter inch plug in. any ideas?

You keyboard 1/4" is a line out your guitar is not. Plug you guitar into one of the two 1/4" on the front panel. These have preamps.

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
If that doesn't help I suspect there is a hardware problem with the iPad. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

I tried last week. The best I could get was a discount on the repair, but the damage to my logic board by the GPU caused it to no longer boot. The program ended in December last year, but it has been extended in the past.
If you have no other damage you might be able to get a flat rate tier 1 repair if you are in the USA.

Following up on this thread,
I have a new iMac on the way and my current is from 2008, never had a problem but I am sure there are internal issues that I would prefer not to transfer.
I have no issues other then the slowness in certain programs and that is the main reason to buy a new one.
Programs like numbers and pages seem to take a longer time to open after I update to Yosemite.
I only use 272GB of 500 GB, my memory is 4GB and I am upgrading to 8Gb and bought the 4.0 processor.
Question:
Is there a way to manually transfer items or would that be a waste of time in that if there are issues they could be anywhere and would transfer anyway?

hi, how can i connect my guitar to the garageband if i want to record sounds? i am using 13 inch macbook pro which only has one audio port ( well, 15 inch has 2 ports ).. or do i need some interface devices?

If the audio port is only a headphone port and not a combined line-in/line-out port, then you need a mac-compatible interface. See the FAQ for a list of some commonly used interfaces:

8GB iPod Touch has developed blueish bar 1 inch wide starting at the bottom

I have an 8GB iPod touch I purchased in August of last year. Until yesterday the iPod was working well. While online last night a blue block stretching from the bottom of the screen up about one inch appeared covering the bottom task bar and the complete lower set of letters when in portrait mode. I turned off the ipod, let it set overnight. Restarted, then completely wiped and restored and the bar persisted. I can touch the lower part of the screen and it selects fine, I just can't see what I'm selecting. I use my ipod touch for all of my calender syncing and it is very important that I can get this fixed soon. Again, I have gone through all the restore features and even before I restore the ipod the line still persists. Do 4th gen shuffle's play through car's aux port with male-to-male cable?

I have a 4th gen shuffle and male on both ends cable to plug into shuffle and aux port in car. I cannot, however, seem to get it to play any songs. I was able to play a first gen. nano through same aux port, but not the shuffle. Are shuffle's even able to play through car's aux.?

Thanks for the feedback JfromPtbo. I finally figured it out, and the solution was pretty simple. You have to turn the volume ALL the way up on the shuffle (not just a few clicks, but really hold down that volume-up bottom), while it's plugged into the aux port. Then, once you hear the songs, you can adjust the volume through the normal stereo volume controls. Sounds good for a $50 ipod and $5 cable.

Ever since last night my macbook pro 13 inch has been doing weird and not so wonderful things. It will only power up with the power pack attached as soon as the battery pack is removed my lappy goes dead. The charge icon shows when its connected. Also if the lid is shut while it is still operating and not been shut down it completely shuts down, whether or not it has been shut down properly it takes 4-5 attempts of opening and closing the lid to get it to start up. It only seems to restart with the lid closed and only reason I know it has is because the apple icon lights up. When I finally get it started up the clock has reset itself back to 2008, requests for internet access pops up, outlook is not allowing me to delete emails, etc. Help!!!

yea man you need to take it to the Apple store ASAP. This is why I bought the Apple Care warranty when I bought my Macbook pro. At the Apple store they will trouble shot your problem and if it cant be fixed you may end up with a new lappy toppy good luck my friend, hope everything goes good, and your partner isn't to badly damaged
