Queries about networks

hi can someone help me out really quickly, im wanting to order a new phone of the nokia website but i dont know if it will work with my network, im on o2 and can see no way of selecting a network, and if it is already unblocked, does the internet and picture messages still work on it??
Solved!
Go to Solution.

All of the phones for sale on the nokia website are unlocked and sim free (possibly except for those sold with a contract). This means you can use them on any network and the phone won't be branded by the network.
Depending on the model the phone may be able to set up MMS and internet automatically for you. If not the settings are available on the link below.

  • Question Because I Know Nothing About Networking

Okay, so, my dad and I know next to nothing about networking. So we have a question for you "learned" folks. Is there a way to connect the wireless router to a normal router? We're asking because we have three Macs, my PowerBook G4, my dad's G5 iMac, and my mother's G4. We're looking into the wireless for mine and possibly my dad's, but my mother's computer is sitting right next to the regular router, so wireless isn't completely necessary. Meanwhile my dad's is across the room, so we have a cord running across it.
Please, help the needy, not-too-knowledgeable as we attempt to get wirelessified.

Is there a way to connect the wireless router
    to a normal router?
Yes, connect the wireless router to the normal router by an ethernet cable.
Configure the wireless router to NOT distribute IP addresess (this turns it into a wireless access point, which allows the "normal" router to do this job.

    Hi,
As far as I know, there isn’t such a log. Since only administrator account can make change on it. You should give the right permission to proper people.
In addition, you can export NPS settings and compare with the modified version.

  • Queries about PS module and subsequent integration with MM, SD and PP

    Hello Experts,
Am posting the query for the first time so hope you all will excuse if something is not correct. Here is a scenario that I am working on:
    - The customer is a project engineering company wanting to use PS (but without networks - ONLY WBS)
    - We copy the neutral material BOM to create a project BOM
    - We create a multi-item sales order with a/c assignment to different assembly groups from the project structure for deliveries and billing
    - Project COST planning (V002 and V000) is carried out
    - Material stock must be valuated
Following are the scenarios for commitment and actual costs:
    1. Direct procurement:
Process: Material purchased with a PR generated from SO item --> PO --> GR --> IR
Query: I am guessing that commitment will be generated through PO creation for WBS. What about actual? What type of cost element should be assigned to the G/L being affected during GR so that I can get some actual against the WBS?
    2. Procure to produce:
    Process:
Common Purchase: Material purchased through a normal PO (without a/c assignment to WBS) for common unrestricted stock.
Project purchase: Material purchased through project PO (with a/c assignment to WBS - resulting in commitment generation) and special project stock at the time of GR
Both materials (from common and project PO) shall be used for production of an assembly which is being produced using a production order which is assigned to the WBS element.
    Query:
How and when would I be getting the commitment / actual effects here?
    - Is any commitment generated when I create a production order?
    - Is any actual cost posted when I issue raw material to this production order?
    - What if the raw material being issued to production order was not purchased using this WBS? Is the actual cost still loaded on this WBS?
    - What happens when I confirm the production order to generate FG stock?
What should I be careful about when defining this scenario and what type of cost elements should I be using?
    3. Procure - Produce - Sale
Process: In certain cases, material procured  for common stock is issued for project production,
Material produced for one WBS/Project gets issued for another.
Query: How does SAP react in this case about the entire commitments and actual cost postings?
I know there are too many queries but I hope you all understand that it is a project-engineering-manufacturing company so on one side the commitment-actual costs are important to be assigned to right project-WBS. At the same time, they also want to have the flexibility in their production activities.
Awaiting eagerly for all possible help.

Link farming is not allowed on this forum. Hence, i would not be able to post any links here. Just to get you started type "SAP Help" in Google. Open the 1st link and under Frequently used click on "ERP Central Components". Then under SAP ERP Central Component 6.0 click on "English". This will take you to a new window. Here, again click on "SAP ERP Central Component". Then click on Logistics - Project System.

  • A few queries about SAP B1

    Hi,
I am sorry if this is not the right forum to put thes queries to.
I am in the process of evaluating an ERPs for our organization and would much, much appreciate your help/guidance for the following. Unfortunately I couldn't get to this specific infomration on net.
1- How many maximum level we can go to map organization hierarchy, country, regional, zonal, offices, departments, etc.
2- How many maximum levels in COA can we go for
3- Assuming we have 3 levels in organizaion hierarchy and 4 levels in accounts, the records in COA table will be 3 x 4 x (active accounts), or would it be 3 x 4 x (all accounts) or would it be that application will map them at the time of entering a voucher.
The numbers of users we have are around 90, out of which about 60-70 would be accessing the application over the net
4- The current licensing policy for B1 8.8, the one that I could get to on the site was updated in 2004
5- B1 being C/S application, what is the best (performance, cost effective, secure) method of accessing it over the net
6- Some of the users (Top management and Executives) are generall on travelling, can they access the application on mobiles
7- In B1, the procurement cycle starts from Purchase Order. Do we have and Add-on for Pre-PO processes starting from Purchase Request
We want to do our homework before contacting a partner / representative.
    TIA!
    Aleem

    Hi Aleem,
With respect to your quries,I would like to evaluate all your  points in the following manner.
1- How many maximum level we can go to map organization hierarchy, country, regional, zonal, offices, departments, etc.
Ans:As far as the mapping of organization concern it is not at all problem in SAP B1.You can map your organization hierarchy as much as you required with the help of the different features available in SAP B1.Now it is further depend on you how you want to map ur organization hiererchy i.e. either at Account level or at costing level only.
2- How many maximum levels in COA can we go for
    Ans:Upto 10th level.
3- Assuming we have 3 levels in organizaion hierarchy and 4 levels in accounts, the records in COA table will be 3 x 4 x (active accounts), or would it be 3 x 4 x (all accounts) or would it be that application will map them at the time of entering a voucher.
Ans:In SAP B1 feature is provided with the help of which whenever you will create any account automatically it will put itself in predefined hiererchy of your organization.
The numbers of users we have are around 90, out of which about 60-70 would be accessing the application over the net
4- The current licensing policy for B1 8.8, the one that I could get to on the site was updated in 2004
Ans:SAP B1 introduce the new Current B1 8.8 license policy for the professional user and limited license user.
5- B1 being C/S application, what is the best (performance, cost effective, secure) method of accessing it over the net.
Ans:There are lots of alternative available. Most of our client are using 2x Virtualization,Citrix,Virtual Private network or even terminal server for accesing the SAP B1 server through internet.
6- Some of the users (Top management and Executives) are generall on travelling, can they access the application on mobiles
Ans:Mobile supporting windows operatng software will eneble them also to access the SAP b1 using the same concept of the web technology used for the other users.
7- In B1, the procurement cycle starts from Purchase Order. Do we have and Add-on for Pre-PO processes starting from Purchase Request
Ans:Yes.We have already developed the procurement addon and installed successfully on many of our client.
In case you need any further details we are glad to share our experiences with you.

  • Questions about networking a desktop app

So the background first: I'm working on a hobby program, and wanted to try my hand at networking it. It's a desktop app (a simple game) that two or more users can play at the same time. There's no centralized server to connect to, it will be an ad hoc connection. One user hosts a game (starts a server) and then others join the game (start their clients). I've done a lot of research, but still have some unanswered questions. I plan on using ssl encrypted socket connections. I used this tutorial to learn about trust managers and such.
    My questions are:
    1) What's the best way to give the users the info they need to connect to each other? I haven't looked into it yet, but I'm assuming it's not to hard to display the server's ip address, which they can give to the clients to connect to the server. PC games used to do this years ago before companies began hosting matchmaking services. Is there more required than that?
    2) What's the best way to pick a port number that all user's have access to? I know I need to pick a port that isn't registered by another app, and that the port number will need to be given to the clients along with the server's ip. If the server is able to open that port, is there a situation where clients wouldn't be able to access that port?
    3) Since this is basically a toy, I don't want to to the trouble of something like Verisign for security. Will a self-signed certificate authority be adequate? My concerns are not opening user's computers to attack, and protecting the data in transit. I know ssl will protect the data, but I'm not knowledgable with security to be sure if a shared trust manager will be enough to only let the app access the connection. What are the risks of someone bypassing the security and gaining access to our systems?
I've never written an application that had to deal with network security, so please pardon my paranoia, and thanks very much for any help.

If you are getting the week or intermittent wireless connection then, try the following settings on the router...Under the Wireless tab,Change the Channel Width to 20MHz and Channel to 11..Provide unique SSID.Under the Advanced Wireless Settings..Change the Beacon Interval to 50,Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 and Click on Save Settings...Power Cycle the network and check the connection.
WPA2 is very secured Secured type,so it is advisable to use it.However,it is not necessary to use WPA2.
If you are using "N"Router then,to get the full advantage of N Speed, you should "N" Adapter.
If you want to set the static DNS on the computer or any other wireless device then, you can set any DNS numbers.
To repeat the wireless signal of the N Router,I would suggest you to go for an Access Point like WAP610N.

  • Question about networking

So I've gotten placed into the role of UCS manager having only a basic understanding of upkeep (currently taking training).  I've noticed some things that I'm curious about but don't know where I should look for more information.
For one.  We were orinigally using port channels to do networking when we had a 1g connection to the core from the FI, now that we're 10g my network team told me that we wouldn't do port channel anymore and what I've got currently setup is 3 connections marked network and 1 connection marked unified uplink 2 Network in FI B and 1 Unified Uplink and 1 network in FI A.
This seems very incorrect to me but I also can't seem to set the unified uplink port back to a network port (I don't see that as a configure choice).
If anyone has some good info on what I really need to be looking at that'll be great but if you've run into a similar issue that would be awesome.
    Thanks

    Sean,
Doing a deeper research in our data base I found that  this has  no problems and actually is saying that it works as uplink port  for  FCoE and Ethernet at the same time and it should show up under the  LAN  and SAN tab as uplink ports.
We set the role of the port to either "Network",  "FCoEUplink" or "UnifiedUplink" based on whehter the port is used as an  ethernet uplink, fcoe uplink or both.
If you go to the LAN/SAN tab and check the interface you should be able  to see the interface as uplink for both as these are Unified Ports that  can be FC or Eth ports.
Can you try to unconfigure the port from the  "Equipment"  tab? the LAN/SAN tabs will only let you delete/disable the  interface, and then just configure it as LAN OR SAN uplink?
    Let me know what happens.

  • Basic questions about Network Licence

    Hi,
Before buying, I have some basics questions about the network licence of Acrobat
As an example, if I buy 5 network licence for 20 users.
If the 5 licence are used or if one user is outside and can't access the licence serveur, is there still some basic features available? I mean, is there a "acrobat reader" part that still allow users to read pdf?
In the same kind of problem, if 10 users are using Acrobat just for reading pdf file and that a user now want to use acrobat to create a pdf, is there still available licence  or the 5 firsts that are just reading have take the 5 licences available?
    Thank you for your answers

  • RFC: Queries about Arch culture and community

    Good day everyone,
This is a request for opinions from the Arch community, especially the Arch developers, Trusted Users, and long time users. I am writing a review about Arch Linux which I hope to publish within the next month or so. Unlike most distro reviews, which are actually distro installation reviews, I have devoted a lot of space to The Arch Way, unique technical qualities of Arch, day to day use and maintenance of Arch, and the Arch community. In my view, the community of a distro is much more important than its installation process.
If I may, I would like to pose some questions about the Arch community. FWIW, I have been quietly participating in the Arch community myself for some months now, contributing material to the wiki. Anyway, please take a look at the queries below, and comment on any as you see fit.
    Thank you,
    Luke Seubert
    1. Despite its modest size, Arch has a very enthusiastic community, as evidenced by its internationalization projects, derivative distros, 3rd party repositories, Arch schwag, active forums and wiki, etc. Is this statement true or false, and if Arch does have an especially enthusiastic community, why?
    2. Arch is deeply conservative, refusing to deviate from core principles. Still, within these bounds, Arch permits a wide array of innovation. Are these statements true or false, and why? If true, what are the pros and cons of such conservatism? If false, in what way has Arch deviated from its core principles or resisted innovation?
    3. The Arch community is fairly harmonious, with little bickering, flamewars, forks or threats to fork, etc. Is this statement true or false, and why? (I have my own theory on the why of this one, and the answer in brief is... dogfood.)
    4. How good or bad a job is Arch doing in cultivating new Trusted Users and Arch developers? Does it have a formal mentoring process? It seems the most direct path to TU status is to put together packages in AUR, and eventually have them voted into Community based upon quality and popularity. However, at some point, virtually all of the popular packages will already be in Community or Extra. How does an AUR uploader become a Trusted User then?
    5. Hypothetical Scenario:
The Chakra Project successfully completes in alpha, beta, and release candidate Live CD testing, and releases its Live CD - version 1.0 - with the GUI easy Tribe installer, to wide acclaim - DistroWatch even raves about it. Suddenly, there are lots of new Arch users, who never went through the traditional Arch install process, who never "paid their Arch dues", and who are not nearly as clueful because they never RTFW. They are flooding IRC and webforums with really, uh, "basic" questions, and suggesting/demanding new features. How does the Arch community handle this abrupt change in its culture? Has it dealt with such culture shocks before?
    6. If only you too could lift cars over your head, would you be more cool, less cool, or as cool as Phrakture, and why? What if you could only lift cars over your head after eating a can of spinach and slamming a six pack of Red Bull? Then how cool/not cool would you be by comparison?

    Allan wrote:
Here are my opinions on these questions and do not necessarily reflect other Arch devs...
    1. True.  I believe part of the enthusiastic community comes from the fact that Arch requires you to set up your system for yourself.  So people become very proud of their achievement of getting their system setup exactly as they like it.
This is an excellent point. There is a nice sense of pride that comes from tweaking your Arch install to just the way you like it. And it is an involved process requiring some modicum of skill.
Also, people have always been encouraged to contribute fixes or start projects to fulfill areas they see lacking.  Seeing your work become used by many others is always a good feeling.
Yeah, I have noted this in my rough draft. Arch has amazingly low barriers to entry. Sign up for an AUR account, which is quick and automatic, and get to work. Your status and authority is derived from a roughly consensual meritocracy, as opposed to a hierarchical, bureaucratic process full of gatekeepers, aka potential gateclosers, like most distros.
This simplicity extends to our package manager, which I believe is a major factor in making the AUR as popular as it is.  (Note that while pacman is developed primarily by Arch users, it aims not to be tied to any distro).
Allan, could you clarify this comment? How does pacman make AUR popular? While I use pacman to access binaries from core, extra, and community; I use yaourt to handle PKGBUILDs from AUR. I don't quite follow you on this one.
But as always, the principles guiding Arch do get bent when it is sensible to do so.  It was always said we don't split packages like many other distros, but we do some splitting these days (e.g. gcc-libs, KDE).  We now include info pages and other docs.
Both of which are good moves. A system should have documentation built in, for those occasions when internet access is down. And I might actually take a look at KDE 4 once again, now that I wouldn't have to download a pile of unwanted packages.
    3. There are flame-wars every so often...  The last one that was probably quite obvious to many was changing rules governing the community repo (requiring votes or 1% usage as defined by pkgstats) and the move to using the official db-scripts (which may be seen as making the TUs less independent).
That is a flamewar that I missed. How does Arch resolve difficult issues? There is no Constitution that I could find, nor any formal governing structure. Is it as simple as lengthy debate, and then Dred Overlord Phrakture decrees?
I have never heard of a treat to fork the distro or components of it.  I guess that is because of the attitude of show us a working implementation of a good idea and it will possibly become official.
Well, there aren't forks, but there are a lot of derivative distros, some of them with very different goals. And there are a lot of 3rd party repositories out there, outside of AUR. I wouldn't call that forking, but it is, I guess, extending. I think such experimentation is a good thing - really good ideas might be developed outside of even AUR, and eventually brought back into the Arch ecosystem. I believe some of Xyne's packages got started that way, yes?
Here is an interesting factoid I came up with in my research:
Packages Per Maintainer Ratio - how many packages on average does a maintainer support?
For Debian, the P/M Ratio is 28
When you add up all the Arch Devs and TUs, and divide out the packages in core, extra, and community, the Arch P/M Ratio is 67.
Arch devs seem quite impressive, until you recall that they mostly maintain one version of each package and for only two architectures, whereas Debian devs support 11 architectures for 5 versions - experimental, unstable, testing, current stable, and old stable. (Ugh - is that brutal or what?)
Seen in that light, one has to admire the very hardworking Debian devs, and wonder a bit about those Arch dev slackers. Yet another T-shirt idea! Change the first idea so it now reads, "I'm a slacker Arch developer, and I eat my own dogfood!"

  • Question about Network In/Out in the Monitor of the Cloud Service

    Hi there
My question is that what kind of data is the monitor monitoring? The monitor is in the cloud service.
And what are network in/out  in the monitor stand for? The network in/out are in the monitor.
The monitor had monitored a huge amount of data in my cloud, but I have no ides what are they.
    Thanks a lot!

    hi Tianchi,
    Thanks for your posting!
    >>what kind of data is the monitor monitoring? The monitor is in the cloud service
From the concepts side, By default, minimal monitoring is provided for a new cloud service using performance counters gathered from the host operating system for the roles instances (virtual machines). The minimal metrics are limited to
CPU Percentage, Data In, Data Out, Disk Read Throughput, and Disk Write Throughput.
If you want to monitor other metrics, you could use the azure Diagnostic to custom
performance counter in your cloud service or set
Verbose setting on the azure portal. For this issue, I suggest you could refer to the concepts part of this page (http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/cloud-services-how-to-monitor/
    >>And what are network in/out  in the monitor stand for? The network in/out are in the monitor.
Base on my understanding, Network in/out include the
performance counter "Bytes receive" and "Bytes send". Maybe it seems that your data size of network in/out is huge amount. But only your outbound data
can be charged. Of course, if you have some doubt about data or data billing, you could contact Azure Billing support for more details.
