Query related to Max of Data

Question

I'm working with Database 10g.Scenario as foll. Table T1 - Id,Action,actiondt.data as follows
ID,action,actiondt
1,A,11-jan-09
1,B,12-jan-09
1,C,13-jan-09
Query should give me result as foll.
ID,Action,Max(action)
1, A, 13-jan-09
1, B, 13-jan-09
1, C, 13-jan-09
How do I achive this in Single query?For each record I want to show max value of actiondt.
I dont want to use inline query .I want to know whether there is any function which can return this value.
I can not use GREATEST here.
I want to use this with Discoverer 3.1
