Query to create reports

Hi,
I need to create a simple query and I would like to know if anyone has a summarized material with the steps on how to create reports since I only got too complex material. Please post the link here or send to roger_brasil @ yahoo.com

Hai these are the steps involved in creating a Report:
1.     Processing the selection screen
After starting a report, the selection screen allows the user to enter limits or control values for further report processing. The report can contain several processing blocks for events during selection screen processing, for example, for checking the input values.
2.     Reading the database
After selection screen processing come the events for reading the database. Either the report reads data from relational databases it using the corresponding ABAP/4 statements (open SQL) or leaves this task to a logical database. In the latter case, the logical database creates a sequence of events to allow the report to copy the data.
3.     Evaluating data and creating lists
During or after reading the database the report creates the output list. During list creation, several events allow you to layout the output list (for example, layout the page header).
4.     Outputting a list
The last part of the processing sequence controlled by the ABAP/4 processor is the list output on the screen or printer. When displaying the list on the screen, user can trigger other reports, that are interactive and are event driven. For example, by clicking the mouse. By programming processing blocks for these events, you change a normal report to a so-called Interactive report. If a report does not contain event keywords, the entire coding of the report belongs to a single processing block, which is called by a standard event. This standard event is triggered directly after processing the selection screen.

Does someone knows how to avoid the message "Unable to create report. Query produced too many results" in Grid Report Type in PerformancePoint 2010. When the mdx query returns large amount of data, this message appears. Is there a way to get all

Change the values of the parameters listed below to a larger value. We recommend that you double the value and then run the query to check whether the issue is resolved. To do this, follow these steps:
On the SharePoint 2010 server, open the Web.config file. The file is located in the following folder:

Locate and change the the below values from 8192 to 16384.
Open the Client.config file. The file is located in the following folder:

Multi-query group above report creates more pages

Hi,
I have a multi-query group above report (paper only), the parent group creates 5 rows(subframes) all onto the same page, but then creates 4 more IDENTICAL pages!!?
at the end I have 5 repating frames and 5 pages.
If I set Maximum Records per Page to 1, I have 5 pages (IDENTICAL) with the first frame only...
any idea?

you will have to create a counter, that tells you the numbers of students (summary-column, function : count, reset on : course) and create a format-trigger on the heading that hides it when the number of students is 0.

If you created a view on any query,
What is view ?
once you execute the query and save the output as view right ?
But we can not see the view in query output.
Insted of executing the query, directly we can execute the view which you have saved as query output.
Open the BEX and search for the view insted of query then it will give you the out put directly.

Your picture doesn't seem to work.
Your query above is in WQL, however reporting uses SQL. You will need to translate the query to SQL first.

Select query in a report

Hi!
Is it possible to modify a select query for a report in the following way:
I have created two fields where users input values and operators.
Operators selection is a static list consisting of: =, like , in
Value field is a text field.
The current query is:
SELECT
A,
B,
C
from TABLE
I would like to add:
WHERE
A : P1_OPERATOR : P1_VALUE
but it doesn't work; I get a notification that the operator is incorrect.
It has a defaulft value = and when I set let's say 5 in the value field the whole query should be:
SELECT
A,
B,
C
from TABLE
WHERE
A = 5

ORA-20001: Query must begin with SELECT or WITH
The only difference I see is that your type is SQL Query (PL/SQL function body returning SQL query) while I have SQL Query (updateable report) hardcoded.
I have APEX 4.2.2, I'm not quite sure how to change this...

QTY_1 and QTY_2 are table fields and QTY_3 Is not. I need to show the value of (QTY_2-QTY_1) in QTY_3.
I need to create a field QTY_3 which is not in the database table. How do I do that?

Need advice on how to create report

I'm not sure how to do this, so I'm asking advice from the apex gods...
here is the issue, I have two tables that I need to combine info from. not an issue in its self. I can do that. but here is the issue. in Table A I have some data like disc_id, title, theids, etc.. Table B contains fullname, theid, emplid
now in table A the column 'theids' is populated from apex as a multi select list. so the values in the column is something like 48;3;88
it got these id numbers from the Table B query (lov popup) that returns theid of the person chosen.
now I have to create a report that will be used in a excel download and what they want is one line per disc_id and they want the more useful 'emplid' in the field where 'theids' are at. that is instead of :
disc_id Title theids
101 Test 48;3;88
they want:
disc_id Title Theids
101 test N33456,N3457,N43562
so I'm kind of stuck, I can figure out how to write a sql using instr to get something like this:
101 test N33456
101 test N3457
etc
but that is not what they want. so I'm thinking I need to create a package to do this and return some sort of values. the problem is I can't figure out how I can substitute the 48;3;88 for N33456,N3457,N43562
I'm still new at this pl/sql and apex stuff so sorry if this seems to have some obvious answer.

this report screen has no fields. there are no :P#_ type values to pull. I'm writing a report screen using a report template.
all the data I need for the report exists within the table. I just need to display it the way they want.
I could do just a:
select *
from my_table
and it would create the report just fine. the only issue is one of the columns would have 48:3:88 in the field. which to a person reading the report means little. so i have no apex fields to pull.
I was trying to write a pl/sql function that would substitute those delimited values with meaningful data. but when I do I get multiple rows and I can't have that. so my choices so far I see are..
1) create the report with a simple select leaving the data as is
2) create report that has multiple rows of data where each instr value now has the correct names (some have 2 some have 5, big list to read of dups)
3) create a package that populates a temporary table with the data I need then select on that table to get the report.
right now I'm thinking #3 is the only way to get what I want. By the way your examples would be a great help in doing that I can already see that I can use some of them to create a temp table with that data.
what I was hoping for was some option that I don't understand or missed that a more experienced person would know. but its looking grim.

Webi Stucks while trying to create report with BW7.0 (WIS 10901)

1. After I try to drag more than one object to create report from webi and run the query, it got sutcked and appear error as below;
A database error occured. this error appears when I try to..
- create query with more than one object
- enable drill-down for the object and click the report to drill down
(This error appears the same in Voyager when drag objects into crosstab)
2. problems with displaying Thai language content created from BW, after I created object, thai content always appears as "######" event I change font to "tahoma", it returns the same result.

1. Create universe connect to BW 7.0 and export universe
2. logon to infoview, choose universe to create report from webi
3. drag object and test drill down
and step for voyager
1. create voyager connection to SAP BW 7.0 use specified username and password
2. use voyager to create report
3. drag object into crosstab

We have solved this issue. We tested our connection with MDX Parser in transaction SM59 and that resulted in errors. Then we applied SAP note 1032461 to replace an application server dll (librfc32u.dll). After this procedure, the WebIntelligence was able to run queries with more then 2 dimensions and key-figures!

Cursors are not closed when using Ref Cursor Query in a report ORA-01000

Oracel database 11g,
developer suite 10.1.2.0.2,
application server 10.1.2.0.2,
Windows xp platform
For a long time, I'm hitting ORA-01000
I have a 2 group report (master and detail) using Ref Cusor query, when this report is run, I found that it opens several cursors (should be only one cursor) for the detail query although it should not, I found that the number of these cursors is equal to the number of master records.
Moreover, after the report is finished, these cursors are not closed, and they are increasing cumulatively each time I run the report, and finally the maximum number of open cursors is exceeded, and thus I get ORA-01000.
I increased the open cursors parameter for the database to an unbeleivable value 30000, but of course it will be exceeded during the session because the cursors are increasing cumulatively.
I Found that this problem is solved when using only one master Ref Cursor Query and create a breake group, the problem is solved also if we use SQL Query instead of Ref Query for the master and detail queries, but for some considerations, I should not use neither breake group nor SQL Query, I have to use REF Cursor queries.
Is this an oracle bug , and how can I overcome ?

Error when opening a BW query with Crystal Reports

Hi all,
I am having problems when opening a BW query with Crystal Reports, the strange thing is that it only happens with
the bo user I have created. If I use a user that already exists and that has SAP_ALL authorization it works.
I don't know if this could be an authorizations issue, but I have created a role with all the authorizations stated in the manual.
The error I am getting is the following:
"An error occurred while generating a new report template. Error in UNKNOWN.RPT file"
Does anyone know what this could be?

I am on BO 4.0 SP05 Patch 6. Webi reports are just showing processing but not giving results. When I try to create new report it is throwing java security error.
Tried applet patch upgrade(From link : https://websmp207.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000902752013E) for webi certificate but didn't help.
Please suggest what could be done.
