Query - What is used in my Query - maybe 100 colums

I have a Query with about 100 colums. ( very big )
There are restricted key figures, calculated key figures and formulas inside.
Many of them are grayed out, but most of them are needed for calculation.
Is there a possibility to find out which of them are not used / not needed to calculate something.
--> i want to delete those not used
thanks

Hi,
Two options:
First one try to remove it from the column if it is used somewhere in the calculations it won't let you remove stating right that (that is used in ...)
Second one right-click over that selection (column) and choose where used list, it will show you a window in all the places (queries also) is being used.

    Hi,
    You could edit the following query to meet your requirement.

  • What is the disadvantage of using hints in query

    hi all,
    i am report developer, in my project we were using hits in the query ... so that the query performance has improved ..
    my question is if we use hints in the query will it give any effects.. means to say instead of using hints we can make use of execution plan..
    what is the use of execution plan i don't know.. but i have an ideal about it .. if we change the execution plan then that will be use full i think
    please reply me,, if am wrong please correct me.. am not that much good at execution plan and hints in oracle..
    please tel me the difference between hints and execution plan and which one is better ?
    Thanks
    Raja

    Hint are used to bias the execution plan of a query. So there is no 'which is bettter'. Hints may be used to generate a different execution plan, but you can't predict how an execution plan looks like in the end. This decision is done by the db engine.
    It best to start without any hints and let the query optimizer do the work. For queries you feel run to slow you can try to give hints and see if your assumption is correct (when the execution time is faster with hints).
    On the other side your question is not related to jdev. You may ask the question in the {forum:id=75} forum

  • What Variables have been used in a Query???

    Hi All,
      how can i find out what variables are being used by a particular standard query in Query Designer level. When we open a query in query designer on the left panel expanding a characteristic we can see what are the available variables in that characteristic for the InfoProvider but i want to know among them which are being used by that query in designer level without going to analyzer.
    Thanks,
    Pritam.

    Hi Pritam,
    You need to use three tables to obtain this informaiton:
    1. rszglobv - List of All the variables
    2. rszetlxref - Cross reference between global variables and query name
    3. rszcomdir - Query Name
    Here is a sample program to obtian this info:
    REPORT  ZLIST_OF_VAR_4_QUERY.
    TABLES: RSZCOMPDIR.
    SELECT-OPTIONS: S_QUERY FOR RSZCOMPDIR-COMPID NO INTERVALS.
    TYPES: BEGIN OF ty_query,
      COMPID type RSZCOMPDIR-COMPID,
      vnam type rszglobv-vnam,
      end of ty_query.
    data: t_query TYPE TABLE OF ty_query.
    SELECT ACOMPID CVNAM
    INTO TABLE t_query
    FROM RSZCOMPDIR as a
      INNER JOIN rszeltxref as b
      on ( acompuid = bseltuid )
      INNER JOIN rszglobv as c
      on ( bteltuid = cvaruniid )
    where a~objvers = 'A'
      and c~objvers = 'A'
      and a~compid in s_query.
    You can output the data from the internal table t_query any way you want it.

  • Query: how to use structure and selection and what's the difference between

    Query: how to use structure and selection and what's the difference between these two?
    Would be appreciated if some experts here give examples to demenstrate on how to use structure and selection in query and what's the difference between these two?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Kevin,
    1. Well by default all the KF that you include in your query go into a Key Figure Structure. You can additionally have another structure for defining how your chars are laid out. A common example is a Calmonth structure where you have selections for 12 months, quarers and YTD values. This would be a char structure with different selections (for each month, qtr etc)
    2. Yes, a selection with a KF is the same as restricting a KF. You can use am RKF is you have one on the left hand side, or if you need to do this locally in the query, right click the structure and choose New Selection, then proceed to choose your KF and reqd char values.
    Hope this helps...

    You can read about Pre-Query trigger in the Forms on-line help:
    About controlling queries with Pre-Query and Post-Query triggers
    The Pre-Query and Post-Query triggers allow control over query processing. They can be defined at the form or block level. Most often, attach them to specific blocks to control the query functionality of those blocks.
    The Pre-Query trigger fires just before Form Builder issues the SELECT statement to the database, after the operator has defined the example record by entering query criteria in Enter Query mode.
    Inside a Pre-Query trigger, the example record defined by the query criteria is the current record. This means that trigger code can read and set the values of items in the example record using standard :block_name.item_name syntax.
    A Pre-Query trigger can be used to disallow query conditions that might be invalid. When a form is in Enter Query mode, normal validation is suspended and no validation triggers fire as they do in Normal mode. The Pre-Query trigger thus allows you to verify that any values entered by the operator are valid query conditions.
    When invalid query conditions have been entered, you can abort the query by raising the FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE built-in exception in the Pre-Query trigger.
    You can also call SET_BLOCK_PROPERTY to modify the block's WHERE and ORDER BY clauses from within the Pre-Query trigger, to further restrict or order the records the query will retrieve.
    I hope this will help you.

  • What are attributes we can use in LDAP query in server derivation rules

    Q: What are attributes we can use in LDAP query in server derivation rules
    A: Server derivation rules can be defined for an LDAP server in the same way as that for a Radius server. As opposed to a Radius server, where the list of attributes that are defined for a server are standard, for an LDAP server, the attributes depend on the type of the server.
    The following table contains the list of attributes that are available for an Active Directory implementation. The server may maintain only a subset of these attributes, depending on how the user entries have been configured.

    to map special characters you need to use an element called CDATA in your mapping
    a special character causes an error....as XI wont be able to read it (as it is not in a proper XML format)...so to parse this character through XI without causing an eror use the CDATA....just make a search on SDN and you will find the proper use of it....

  • How to make an index use in a query execution

    Hi,
    I have the below query for which ename column has an index. As of my knowledge below queries 1st and 2st will not use index. Hence i used the 3rd statement and that too its not using the index. Finally i used the 4th query, but even the 4th query is not using the index. Then how do i make this query to use my index??? Do i need to create a function based index for this??? Is that the final option????
    1. select * from emp where ename !='BH' ;
    2. select * from emp where ename <> 'BH';
    3. select * from emp where ename not in ('BH');
    4. select * from emp where ename < 'BH' or ename > 'BH';

    Sorry 007, I really thought you were posting a trick question as on the OCP tests.
    Anyway, as Justin mentioned, if you have an index on ename, it may be used when doing a comparison predicate statement with the ename value.
    What it depends on are several other things: stats, how many rows in the table, use of an index hint, etc.
    Rather than questioning the group on this, why not just turn on autotrace and run the query for the different scenarios.
    The output will show you if it used the index, number of rows returned, blocks read, etc.
    SQL> create table emp (ename  varchar2(40));
    Table created.
    SQL> insert into emp select username from sys.dba_users;
    25 rows created.
    SQL> commit;
    Commit complete.
    SQL> set autotrace on
    SQL> select * from emp where ename != 'SYSTEM';
    Execution Plan
    Plan hash value: 2951343571
    | Id  | Operation        | Name      | Rows  | Bytes | Cost (%CPU)| Time     |
    |   0 | SELECT STATEMENT |           |    24 |   528 |     1   (0)| 00:00:01 |
    |*  1 |  INDEX FULL SCAN | ENAME_IDX |    24 |   528 |     1   (0)| 00:00:01 |
    Predicate Information (identified by operation id):
       1 - filter("ENAME"<>'SYSTEM')As you can see, the above used an index, even though there were only 25 rows in the table.
    You can test each of your scenarios, one by one, including use of a hint.

  • Performance Issue with Webi report uses SAP BI Query as the data source

    Hello.
    I have created a Webi ad-hoc report which connects to a SAP BI query through BO OLAP universe.
    The layout of Webi is the exactly the same as the BI query.  There are filters in the Webi to restrict the number of data extraction, but even with data result of 5000 rows, it took about 30 seconds.
    If I execute the BI query with the same filter restriction, it tooks less than 10 seconds.
    It seems that large percentage of time is consumed at the MDX part.
    Is there any tuning method that could speed up the process time of MDX?
    Thank you.
    Justine
    Edited by: Justine Liu on Mar 18, 2009 6:59 AM

    Hi,
    please take a look here:
    [https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1142664] (Look under related notes)
    It includes references to various performance improvements of the MDX interface. From what I saw there it is advisable to upgrade your SAP BI (7.0)  up to at least Support Package 21 (you are currently on SP 15).
    This may also be interesting for you: There is a new Fix Pack 1.4 coming out for BOBJ XI 3.1. Combined with the related SAP Enh.Pack (not sure about the version of this one) should also improve WebI performance. This fix pack is not yet officially released though but it should not take look.
    I recommend that you try the upgrade to Support Package 21 first.
    BTW it is also advisable to take a look in the results of your MDX query (e.g using the MDXTEST transaction). You should make sure that your query is indeed restricted as expected. Sometimes the results you see in SAP native reporting tools (e.g. BEx Analyzer) differ from those returned from the MDX component, depending on the way variables/restrictions where defined in the query designer. It is all about making sure that there is no apples/oranges comparison here.

  • How can I use a single query panel with two view criteria?

    Hi all,
    I have a requirement to allow users to change the "display mode" on a search results tree table for an advanced search page. What this will do is change the structure of how the data is laid out. In one case the tree table is 3 levels deep, in the other case it's only 2 with different data being at the root node.
    What I've done so far:
    1) I exposed the data relationship for these two ways of viewing the data in the application module's data model.
    2)  I created a view criteria in the two view objects that are at the root of the relationships, where (for simplicity sake) I'm only comparing a single field.
    This is in one view object:
    <ViewCriteria
        Name="PartsVOCriteria"
        ViewObjectName="gov.nasa.jpl.ocio.qars.model.views.PartsVO"
        Conjunction="AND">
        <Properties>... </Properties>
        <ViewCriteriaRow
          Name="vcrow23"
          UpperColumns="1">
          <ViewCriteriaItem
            Name="PartDiscrepantItemsWithIRVO"
            ViewAttribute="PartDiscrepantItemsWithIRVO"
            Operator="EXISTS"
            Conjunction="AND"
            IsNestedCriteria="true"
            Required="Optional">
            <ViewCriteria
              Name="PartDiscrepantItemsWithIRVONestedCriteria"
              ViewObjectName="gov.nasa.jpl.ocio.qars.model.views.PartDiscrepantItemsWithIRVO"
              Conjunction="AND">
              <ViewCriteriaRow
                Name="vcrow26"
                UpperColumns="1">
                <ViewCriteriaItem
                  Name="InspectionRecordNumber"
                  ViewAttribute="InspectionRecordNumber"
                  Operator="="
                  Conjunction="AND"
                  Value=""
                  Required="Optional"/>
              </ViewCriteriaRow>
            </ViewCriteria>
          </ViewCriteriaItem>
        </ViewCriteriaRow>
      </ViewCriteria>
    and this is in the other view object:
    <ViewCriteria
          Name="IRSearchCriteria"
          ViewObjectName="gov.nasa.jpl.ocio.qars.model.views.InspectionRecordVO"
          Conjunction="AND">
          <Properties>... </Properties>
          <ViewCriteriaRow
             Name="vcrow7"
             UpperColumns="1">
             <ViewCriteriaItem
                Name="InspectionRecordNumber"
                ViewAttribute="InspectionRecordNumber"
                Operator="="
                Conjunction="AND"
                Required="Optional"/>
          </ViewCriteriaRow>
       </ViewCriteria>
    3) I had a query panel and tree table auto-generated by dragging the data control for ONE of the view object data relationship that's exposed in the app module. Then I created a second query panel and tree table the same way but using the data control for the other. I'm hiding one of the query panels permanently and toggling the visibility of the tree tables based on the display mode the user chooses. Both tables have separate bindings and iterators.
    This is a portion of the page definition:
    <executables>
        <variableIterator id="variables"/>
        <searchRegion Criteria="IRSearchCriteria"
                      Customizer="oracle.jbo.uicli.binding.JUSearchBindingCustomizer"
                      Binds="InspectionRecordVOIterator"
                      id="IRSearchCriteriaQuery"/>
        <iterator Binds="InspectionRecordVO" RangeSize="25"
                  DataControl="QARS_AppModuleDataControl"
                  id="InspectionRecordVOIterator" ChangeEventPolicy="ppr"/>
        <iterator Binds="Root.QARS_AppModule.PartsVO1"
                  DataControl="QarsMasterAppModuleDataControl" RangeSize="25"
                  id="PartsVO1Iterator"/>
        <searchRegion Criteria="PartsVOCriteria"
                      Customizer="oracle.jbo.uicli.binding.JUSearchBindingCustomizer"
                      Binds="PartsVO1Iterator" id="PartsVOCriteriaQuery"/>
      </executables>
    4) I've created a custom queryListener to delegate the query event.
    This is in my advanced search jsp page:
    <af:query id="qryId1" headerText="Search" disclosed="true"
                      value="#{bindings.IRSearchCriteriaQuery.queryDescriptor}"
                      model="#{bindings.IRSearchCriteriaQuery.queryModel}"
                      queryListener="#{pageFlowScope.SearchBean.doSearch}"
                      queryOperationListener="#{bindings.IRSearchCriteriaQuery.processQueryOperation}"
                      resultComponentId="::resId2" maxColumns="1"
                      displayMode="compact" type="stretch"/>
    This is in my backing bean:
    public void doSearch(QueryEvent queryEvent) {
          String bindingName = flag
             ? "#{bindings.IRSearchCriteriaQuery.processQuery}"
             : "#{bindings.PartsVOCriteriaQuery.processQuery}";
          invokeMethodExpression(bindingName, queryEvent);
       private void invokeMethodExpression(String expr, QueryEvent queryEvent) {
          FacesContext fctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
          ELContext elContext = fctx.getELContext();
          ExpressionFactory eFactory = fctx.getApplication().getExpressionFactory();
          MethodExpression mexpr =
             eFactory.createMethodExpression(elContext, expr, Object.class, new Class[] { QueryEvent.class });
          mexpr.invoke(elContext, new Object[] { queryEvent });
    When no inspection record number (the only search field so far)  is supplied in the query panel, then it behaves correctly. Namely, the tree tables shows all search results. However, when an inspection record number is supplied the tree table that was created with the query panel in use (remember there are two query panels, one of them is hidden) shows a single result (this is correct) while the other tree table (the one with the hidden query panel that isn't in use) shows all results (this is NOT correct).
    Is what I'm trying to accomplish even doable? If so, what am I missing?
    I'm using JDeveloper 11.1.1.7
    Thanks,
    Bill

    I ended up keeping one query panel permanently visible and the other permanently hidden. When performing a search using the table that has the hidden query panel, I seed the query descriptor for the hidden query panel using the visible query panel's query descriptor and then delegate the request:
       public void doSearch(QueryEvent queryEvent) {
          String bindingName = null;
          if(isIrTableRendered()) {
             bindingName = "#{bindings.IRSearchCriteriaQuery.processQuery}";
          } else {
             seedPartsQueryDescriptor();
             bindingName = "#{bindings.PartsVOCriteriaQuery.processQuery}";
             queryEvent = new QueryEvent(partsQuery, partsQuery.getValue());
          invokeMethodExpression(bindingName, queryEvent);
       private void seedPartsQueryDescriptor() {
          ConjunctionCriterion criterion = irQuery.getValue().getConjunctionCriterion();
          for(Criterion criteria : criterion.getCriterionList()) {
             AttributeCriterion attributeCriteria = (AttributeCriterion)criteria;
             List values = attributeCriteria.getValues();
             String qualifiedName = attributeCriteria.getAttribute().getName();
             int indexOfDot = qualifiedName.lastIndexOf(".");
             String name = indexOfDot < 0
                ? qualifiedName
                : qualifiedName.substring(indexOfDot + 1);
             ConjunctionCriterion partsCriterion =
                partsQuery.getValue().getConjunctionCriterion();
             for (Criterion partsCriteria : partsCriterion.getCriterionList()) {
                AttributeCriterion partsAttributeCriteria =
                   (AttributeCriterion) partsCriteria;
                String partsQualifiedName =
                   partsAttributeCriteria.getAttribute().getName();
                if (partsQualifiedName.endsWith(name)) {
                   partsAttributeCriteria.setOperator(attributeCriteria.getOperator());
                   List partsValues = partsAttributeCriteria.getValues();
                   partsValues.clear();
                   for (int i = 0, count = values.size(); i < count; i++) {
                      partsValues.set(i, values.get(i));
       private void invokeMethodExpression(String expr, QueryEvent queryEvent) {
          FacesContext facesContext = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
          ELContext elContext = facesContext.getELContext();
          ExpressionFactory expressionFactory =
             facesContext.getApplication().getExpressionFactory();
          MethodExpression methodExpression =
             expressionFactory.createMethodExpression(elContext, expr, Object.class, new Class[] { QueryEvent.class });
          methodExpression.invoke(elContext, new Object[] { queryEvent });
    Then when the advanced/basic button is pressed for the visible query panel, I programmatically set the same mode for the hidden query panel:
       public void handleQueryModeChange(QueryOperationEvent queryOperationEvent) {
          if(queryOperationEvent.getOperation() == QueryOperationEvent.Operation.MODE_CHANGE) {
             QueryMode queryMode = (QueryMode) irQuery.getValue().getUIHints().get(QueryDescriptor.UIHINT_MODE);
             QueryDescriptor queryDescriptor = partsQuery.getValue();
             queryDescriptor.changeMode(queryMode);
             AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(partsQuery);

  • Create SSRS report using DMV for querying SSAS cube.

    I am trying to create a SSRS Report to find the Cube/Dimension Status (when was Cube/Dimension last processed and is Failed/Success), for example I have below DMV query for the same.
    SELECT CUBE_NAME, LAST_DATA_UPDATE FROM $System.MDSCHEMA_CUBES
    When i execute the above query in MDX query window it comes up with results, when i try to create a data using the above query in report server its coming up with error.
    Error : Please verify that the query is an MDX one and not DMX. (Microsoft.AnalysisServices.Controls)
    Can we use DMV querys for createing SSRS report and what should be the datasource.
    Thank You.

  • Using a Sum query in Oracle Forms

    Greedings,
    I have the following query which works fine in PL/SQL but i cant get it working in Oracle forms as i get an error in SUM(SELECT...) . Any quidance on how i should fix my query to work in Forms?
    select
       Sum((SELECT kl.amount
                FROM S03_a_salfldg@oracle_to_sun kl
                WHERE Trim(kl.accnt_code)=Trim(a.acnt_code)
                AND kl.period between 2008001 AND 2008012 AND ROWNUM=1)) AS actual
       from so_budgets_cat a,a01_acnt@oracle_to_sun b,so_budgets_com c,so_budgets d
       where trim(a.acnt_code)=trim(b.acnt_code)
       AND a.cat=c.cat
       AND TRIM(d.acnt_code)=trim(a.acnt_code)
       AND d.business_object=10000103883
       AND d.business_object=c.bus_object
       AND d.business_object=a.business_object
       AND SubStr(d.period,1,4)=Trim(c.PERIOD_Y)
       AND C.period_Y BETWEEN substr(2008001,1,4) AND substr(2008001,1,4)
       GROUP BY a.cat,a.acnt_code,c.com,a.cat_desc,b.descr,d.acnt_code
       order by a.cat,a.acnt_code,c.com,a.cat_desc,b.descrThanks in advance

    And what error would that be? Also where are you using this query? In a from clause query? Also you didn't specify any version infos; as forms has it's own PL/SQL engine there is a possibility that you run in a version problem if the code runs fine in SQL*Plus but fails to compile in forms (e.g. when running Forms 6i against a 10g database). Without those informations answers to your question are based on guessings, and most likely will result in a question-answer ping-pong.
    cheers
