Question about "Automatic Archving"

I'm reading http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96521/archredo.htm where they mention the concept of automatic archiving..
It mentions the parameter "log_archive_start" , so I ran this:
SQL> show parameter log_archive_start;
NAME TYPE VALUE
log_archive_start boolean FALSE
Its false. However since I have archivelog mode enabled, my online redo logs do get archived.
So to me, everything seems fairly automatic.. my redo logs are being archived as I'd expect.
What am I misunderstanding?

SQL> archive log list;

Automatic archival Enabled
Archive destination USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST

I was just told in IRC that automatic archival is now set via control file and not via a parameter. Perhaps that is my confusion.

Hi Experts,
Need your help to solve below issue.
Compmnay code "1111" is central compasny code,which is making payments to vendor "dddd" through automatic payment program on behalf of other company codes(2222 and 3333).
Issue1:Company code "1111" has open item 1000 with respect to vendor "dddd" and company code "2222" has open item 3000 with respect to same vendor.
when i execute APP it is issuing two different checks though vendor is same.Single check should be issued as per my requirement.
Let me know about the configuration.
issue2: Compnay code has "1111"credit memo amount 10000(debit balance) in vendor "yyyy" in the year 2010 and since 2010 no invoices in comopany code "1111" but company code "2222" has invoice amount 15000 for the same vendor.
My requireemnt is check shoud be issued for the amount ( after diducting credit memo amount from invoice amount) in APP.
Please let me know about configuration.

To pay with one check, you need to the below configuration. Go to T-Code:OBVU and do the below steps, according to your requirement.
and Select payment method supplement (check box)
Specify the sending company code if you want to pay using a cross-company code transaction but do not want to pay the items of all participating company codes together.
Examples
Example 1:
Company code 0001 pays its own items and the items of company codes 0002 and 0003. All items are grouped into one payment.
Company code Paying company code Sending company code
0001 0001 0001
0002 0001 0001
0003 0001 0001
Example 2:
Company code 0001 pays its own items and the items of company codes 0002 and 0003. However, a separate payment is created for each company code.

According to MOS Redo Transport Compression in a Data Guard Environment [ID 729551.1],
In 11gR1, it is also possible to enable compression *duing redo transport service with Maximum* *Performance* using the following hidden parameter.

According to OOW 2010 presentation,

In this process, you will complete a payment transaction automatically.
You should first enter some vendor invoices so that there are enough due payables available in the system. In order to reduce the work you need to do, we have created a CATT (Computer Aided Test Tool) that generates invoices automatically when activated.
Secondly, you will create a payment program and enter the parameters necessary for selecting the items to be paid.
Next, you will execute a payment proposal list and check its log. You will find that some items are blocked for payment. You will need to update the list in order to remove the block.
Later, you will start an actual run. Then you will set the print program so that the payment forms and accompanying payment advice notes and payment summaries are correctly assigned to the payment run. Finally, you will print the payment forms. If you are using North American data, you will then need to analyze the check register.

Question about automatic copying to library and Movies

I have my mac set to automatically copy any audio that is put in iTunes into my itunes folder because I like the way that it gets organized in there. Recently I have been ripping my DVDs using Handbrake so that I have digital copies of them on my hard drive. I want to put the movies into iTunes to make them more accessible, but I don't want them to be copied into my itunes library because I like to keep them in my Movies folder. Is there any way to avoid them being copied but still have my songs be copied over to the itunes folder?

No. You will have to turn off the prefs to copy to the iTunes music folder when adding to library then turn it back on.

Question about Automater

I didn't see a forum for automator so I'm just going to as it here I'm sure some oughta know the answer. I was looking for either an Automator action or something else that will in effect use the first image in a folder as the folders' icon. Similarly in the way that itunes uses the first image of a file in a series or album as the compilation image. Is there an Automator action that can do this or perhaps something else. I looked through the Automator actions but I didn't see anything the struck me as able to do that. But I'm not really that traversed with Automator so I thought there might be a set of actions that might do this also.

You don't. Email comes in either by push or when you invoke the email app. Ther is no password except when you first set up the account. If your iPad is not being used as your personal device and you need to shield emails from other users, then don't use the email app. Instead, use web mail if available from your provider.

SET SERVEROUTPUT ON has the effect of executing dbms_output.get_lines after each and every statement. Not only related to system view.
Here below what Tom Kyte is explaining in this page:
Now, sqlplus sees this functionality and says "hey, would not it be nice for me to dump this buffer to screen for the user?". So, they added the SQLPlus command "set serveroutput on" which does two things
1) it tells SQLPLUS you would like it <b>to execute dbms_output.get_lines after each and every statement</b>. You would like it to do this network rounding after each call. You would like this extra overhead to take place (think of an install script with hundreds/thousands of statements to be executed -- perhaps, just perhaps you don't want this extra call after every call)
2) SQLPLUS automatically calls the dbms_output API "enable" to turn on the buffering that happens in the package.Regards.

Two questions about SG300 DHCP server

Hi,
I have two questions about the DHCP server on the SG300:
On the Address Binding page, what does the "Declined" state mean? I have a NAS device that won't pull an address, and I think that the entry with a state of "Declined" corresponds to this device. It was previously pulling an address from a RV180, so the only difference is that it is now connected to the SG300. I worked around this by manually setting the address on the NAS device, but this won't scale if I run into a lot of other devices that can't pull an address.
I configured a static address binding for a WAP321 and found that instead of pulling the configured address that it pulled a dynamic address. I checked the Address Binding page and see that the dynamic entry that corresponds with the WAP321 has a Client Identifier rather than a MAC address. I changed the static entry for the WAP321 to use the client identifier displayed in the dynamic entry, and now the WAP321 pulls the configured static address. Is this expected behavior?

With the SX300/500 it is required the client identifier, it doesn't automatically insert it. If static DHCP is made on the switch and you didn't need client identifier, that is more or less fortunate behavior for you
So to answer this question, the expected behavior is to configure client identifier for static DHCP entry.

I use Oracle Application Server 4.0.7 on my Windows NT 4.0 SP6;
I use PL/Sql Cartridge developer a document system; It's use the
upload/download in PL/Sql Cartridge;
I read the document , the Upload/download in Pl/Sql Base on the
Oracle Application Server's Content Service. the Problem is when I
download a document, If I upload a Html or MsWord file, It will store in a LongRaw column, when me download ; It's tell me can't
find a application to open this file; I will select a application
from list to open the download file;
As normal, It will open MsWord Automatic when download a "doc" file ; also It will open a new window of Browser to view a Html file;
I check the download process on client Browser; when download
file, The content-type always return "application/octet-stream";
Also the download File will lost the postfix of the file,
So Browser don't open the File Automatic;
I think If I set the correct Content-Type , Browser can know how open the file; So I use owa_content.set_content_type procedure
set the Doc file to "application/msword" , but the WEb Server always
return "application/octet-stream";
I didn't know how to do this problem, Plese help me.

I was very confused when I found that this QFE and subsequent ones posted on the 16 April 2005 relate to Pre SP2 critical updates no9t required if one has already taken earlier advice of updating to Service Pack, at the very least your narrative should make mention of this. I find it very difficult to believe that your updates are two+ years out of date.

Question about the Documentation Tags for Source Code

I have a question about CVI's automatic source code documentation. My problem is that is seems like you need to write all documentation for a specific tag on one line. If you don't, a line break will be inserted when the documentation is displayed. Suppose I want to write a large amount of documentation for the function itself, using the HIFN tag. If I don't want linebreaks to be forced in the documentation, I need to write all this documentation on one single line, which kinda messes up my code. If I split the documentation over several HIFN tags, the documentation displayed to the user might look messed up because of all the linebreaks. Is there any escape character I can put at the end of a line, allowing me to split the documentation of several HIFN lines without forcing linebreaks in the documentation?

In export and import mode
1.can we have new name for the target database,
2.I think we need to create tablespaces ,do we need to create users as well
3.If we are upgrading from 9i to 10g database ,any activity to be perfromed other than creating a new sysaux tablespace
4.How come we get consistent export
In DBUA mode ( in the same machine only)
1.Do we need shutdown / startup restrict the database
2.How can we move the files to the new location
3.Can we change db_name of the database
4.Can we use the old database as well
In manual upgration using catupgrd scripts
1.Can we rename the db_name
2.can we use old database as well
3.how to move the database files to the new location
4.can we perform this kind of upgrade on a different server
5.when we startup upgrade in the new home ,how it identifies the old database in-order to upgrade the old one

Basic questions about Infocube

Hi, everyone.
I got very basic questions about infocube data handling.
With infopackage, I extracted all the data about employees from R/3.
But there were some mistakes during inputting employee data, like positions,
so I just extracted those employees data once more.
Now I have two requests in infocube, where the first one has some wrong data.
Is there any solutions about this?
I might got it all wrong, so as beginner, any suggestions and explanations will
be grateful.

Hi,
You can manually delete the earlier request by going in the Manage option of the cube. select the request and click on delete icon at the bottom.
Other option is to make setting in the Infopackage to delete similar or overlapping request.
Data target tab --> 6th column Automatic loading / deletion of similar request. --> click on the blank icon --> you will get a pop-up --> select the radio button - "delete existing request" --> Select Conditions --> Infosource are same, datasource are same and source system are same, --> selections are "Same or More Comprehensive "

I came to the Sony Service Center in Makassar, precisely on Jl. Shop Pengayomann A5 / 05 (0411) 442340.
operator initially said only two weeks to work on my camera. but this week has been more dau even want to go in a month tomorrow, dated July 9, no news from the service center. and I kept the call to the office service. as well as assorted reasons. there are no spare parts or technical constraints, and the last one I call to his office, he said the factory spare part is damaged. imported directly from Singapore. I think, ko new spare part it can be damaged before using that? how the quality of this Sony spare part? ugly? not good? why?
I was disappointed with this situation, where soon it will Eid, want to return home as well to Java. but the camera has not been settled workmanship?
