Question about LMS 3.2 install on Win Server 2k8 R2

Hello,
Dumb question, I know, but I have no pride so here goes...
I've checked the documentation and just want to confirm the problem I'm having:
When I try to install LMS 3.2 on a virtual Win Server 2k8 R2 Datacenter platform I get the following error:
"You cannot install CiscoWorks LMS 3.2 application(s) on an unsupported operating system or when Terminal Services is running on the supported Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition, Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition, and Windows 2003 R2 Server platforms"
I am, in fact, trying to install the application via a remote session so Terminal Services is running.  I assume this means that my problem is simply that I'm running terminal services since all the different versions of Server 2k8 appear to be supported?
Thanks very much in advance.

LMS supports Terminal Services provided the server is running in Remote Administration mode.  Remote Application mode will not work.  That said, Windows 2008 R2 is not supported, and LMS will, in fact, not work on this version.  Support for 2008 R2 is slated for December or January.

  • A few questions about Boot Camp: installation, performance, which Win OS?

    Hello.
I am planning on getting a windows OS. My main motives for this are because I would like to get some PC only games (I've been eyeing that Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition that is soon to come out) and because there is a good chance that I will need some PC only programs for my college work. I just had a few questions before I did anything. Note: I am running 10.5.8 now but getting 10.6 soon.
    1. According to wikipedia: "Its functionality relies on BIOS emulation through EFI and a partition table information synchronization mechanism between GPT and MBR combined". The only word I understood of that sentence was "emulation." I know that emulation software significantly reduces performance. Is this true for boot camp? (say i were to get the exact same game for both mac and windows and set them to the exact same performance settings, when playing on windows, would there be more lag than on OS X?)
    2. Which Windows OS should I get? Since I am just going to be using Boot Camp to run games and a few other programs, would XP be the best to get to optimize the application's performance (as opposed to Win 7)?
    3. How complex is installation? I am a decent Mac techie, but this is my first time with boot camp, and I am a Windows noobie.
    4. There seems to be a lot of talk about partitions. What exactly is a partition? I have some theories, but want to know for sure.

  • Question about smc fancontrol after installing Leopard... please help

hi,, i recently had my macbook pro a clean install leopard,.. everything is going fine afterwards until i installed smc fancontrol, smc fancontrol is working fine, but my problem is, i forgot to set the default fan speed on the smc fancontrol which is 2000rpm before i did the clean install, the fan speed was 2500rpm when i clean installed leopard, forgetting to set the default 2000 rpm back,. and now after i installed leopard, and then i installed back the smc fancontrol, the default now is 2500rpm! i cannot set it back to the default, which is 2000rpm, when i tried smc fancontrol keeps telling me that it FELL SHORT OF MINIMUM, which it thinks the default rpm is 2500, how can i get it back to the real default rpm of macbook pro which is 2000rpm? i'm afraid that constantly running my macbook pro forever to 2500rpm will cause the wear and tear of my macbook pro's fans , please help me, i really don't know what i'll do here....

hi, thanks, btw, what would i look for in the activity monitor after i closed the smc fancontrol?
Check all your processes under the CPU tab. They should all be very low at idle--like right after you boot. If you have some process running like 30% for example, that could cause the fans to run faster.
should i check in the activity monitor if the smcfancontrol still runs after i closed it? i
It shouldn't show up in their after you close it.

  • [SOLVED] Question about "loadkeys" from the install procedure

    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/In … ard_layout
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Be … the_keymap
    # loadkeys ro_win
They show up as black squares... Even after generating these locales, as per the Beginner's Guide:
    [root@archiso ~]# locale-gen
    Generating locales...

    ro_RO.UTF-8... done
    ro_RO.ISO-8859-2... done

    What do?
PS: I noticed that they're activated with "Alt+Shift". There's no mention in the Install Guide or Beginner's Guide about this. Heh.

    From the LiveCD (in VirtualBox):
    # nano x
    <wrote these characters>
    # cat x | curl -F "sprunge=<-" http://sprunge.us
And they show up fine: http://sprunge.us/MKBj

    ĂÎŞŢÂ
Until a better explanation comes along, I've added this info to the BG:
Don't worry if some of the letters show up as white squares or as other symbols. It's probably just the console font missing those glyphs. The glyph codes are correct and if you press the correct keys they will show up fine when (or if) you set up a graphical environment later.

I guess I can mark it as solved...

  • Questions about Performing a clean install of Snow Leopard

Hi I plan on performing a clean install of Snow Leopard. I've never done a clean install of any OS before. I have a couple of questions. Is it easy to do? is it safe? Is a clean install of Snow Leopard better than doing an upgrade?

why and what exactly do you mean by clean install? install on an empty drive?
I've never done a clean install of any OS before. I have a couple of questions. Is it easy to do?
    yes.
    is it safe?
    yes
Is a clean install of Snow Leopard better than doing an upgrade?
IMO, not if your system is working ok. doing an erase and install will buy you a lot of work migrating your data.
Do I have to format my new internal hard Drive that I recently installed or only my Main drive??
yes. boot from the snow leopard dvd, reformat your drive with disk utility (it's in the Utilities menu). set the partition scheme to GUID and format to MAC OS extended journaled. once the drive is reformatted, quit disk utility and proceed with the install.
It's basically used to store movies and music.
I don't understand, is it empty or does it have something on it already? all that stuff will be wiped out if you follow the above procedure.
    Any info is greatly appreciated
I would recommend doing a regular install. just make sure you have a *full backup* before you do. a bootable backup using CCCloner or Superduper is teh best. a TM backup is ok too.
BTW, you have posted this in the Time machine forum for leopard. this is really not the right place to ask this.

  • Questions about partioning the drive, installing Windows, and bootcamp

I have a 2.0ghz Intel Core 2 Duo model Mac Mini model MB139LL/A, I upgraded the ram to 4GB and the HDD to 500GB.
I just partitioned off about 100 gigs of my 500 gig drive in my Mac Mini for Windows 7.
Before installing, I just want to know, is it safe if when in the Windows 7 installer, I delete the FAT32 partition that Boot Camp made and tell the Win7 installer to just partition the now unpartitioned space however it feels like? Or would this cause problems with MACOS or the Mac bootloader detecting the Windows installation if I did this (please note that I am ONLY touching the FAT32 Windows partition that bootcamp made, NOT any other partition)? Windows 7 sometimes creates a 100meg boot partition for features like bitlocker and other options, but it will not do this if you are installing on an existing partition, which is why I asked.
Also, is it possible (without hacking or third party boot software) to have three operating systems installed on the Mac Mini instead of two or no? Would bootcamp support booting more than two operating systems?
Finally, is there any way to read the NTFS Windows partition in Snow Leopard or the HFS+ Snow Leopard partition in Windows 7?

You need to tell Windows to format that FAT32 partition created by Bootcamp to NTFS. Don't delete it or create a new one. The reason is that OS X uses a partitioning layout called GPT, while Windows and most other OS's use MBR. Therefore, Bootcamp alleviates that by creating a special MBR partition.
Second, the only way to triple-boot OS X with two or more non-OS X operating systems (you can multi-boot with as many OS X installations as you want) is to use a third party loader, such as rEFIt.
Third, by default, OS X can only read the NTFS bootcamp partition, and Windows can only read the HFS+ OS X partition. You can install third party software to get around that, such as MacDrive for Windows, or NTFS-3g for OS X. Snow Leopard also has an experimental NTFS read/write driver, but it's disabled, and for good reason, for it is quite crash-prone.

  • Question about the whitelist and installing a Wireless AC card on a Thinkpad Yoga

    Hi,
So I'm looking at buying a Thinkpad Yoga, but the model I'm looking at doesn't have AC wireless.  I've read up a bit about FRUs and whitelists, and was just wondering if the same model wireless card with two different Lenovo parts numbers will be compatible with each other or if the bios will block it if I don't buy the specific Lenovo part number.

Yes, you install grub to sda (master boot record), and add the entry for Windows. In the step where you partition the harddrive, you can choose where to create it. Actually it may not be that much of a problem anymore, my boot is on the third partition, after ~15 GB. You can forget about the bootable flag when using grub, it does not care.

In my tray there is the "Safely Remove hardware"  Is that just something on the nforce boards, or is that a result of the way I may have installed windows? Also if anyone could give me any advice on what I have in my sig, as far as reaching 2.5Ghz I'd appreciate it.

  • Question about mac mini with Mac OS X Server

    Hello forum,
first I want to say hello to each, because this is my first post in this forum.
I want to buy a mac mini, but I have further questions before i buy.
My Situation is, that currently I have a windows and a linux server (Windows => Exchange and Linux as a build server). Now i want to remove such servers and replace it with one mac mini server.
1.) Currently I have an exchange server...Is it possible to use Mac OS X Server to work like an Exchange server?
2.) I plan to use it as a build server which generates bundled software for Mac OS, Windows and Linux (Windows and Linux where running in VMWare Sphere)
    Is this possible with it?
    Thanks in advance
    Best Regards
    Roman80

1.) Currently I have an exchange server...Is it possible to use Mac OS X Server to work like an Exchange server?
That depends on how deeply-embedded you are into Exchange.
If by 'Exchange' you mean the basic email/messaging tools then yes, but if you mean the full MAPI client/SharePoint/messaging/sync/compliance tools then no.
2.) I plan to use it as a build server which generates bundled software for Mac OS, Windows and Linux (Windows and Linux where running in VMWare Sphere)
This isn't an option. vSphere will not install on a Mac Mini. The only VMWare option for the Mac Mini is VMWare Fusion, which does allow running client OS systems in a virtual machine, but does not support the full suite of VMWare functionality. Whether it has enough for your needs cannot be determined without more details of how you expect this to work - if it's just a matter of having a Visual Studio running in a Windows VM, and some other compiler running in a Linux VM then it may be possible, it just depends how deep you need to go.

  • Question about load Microsoft JDBC driver for Sql server 2000

    Hello,
I have some problem while trying load the sqlserver2000 jdbc driver
My program is a third party application and it works with the other type 4 JDBC driver well. So I tried to use Microsoft SQL server 2000 JDBC driver instead.
I installed JDBC driver and set up the classpath.
    My error message is:
"Driver class 'com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver' could not be loaded"
Is above message means that my classpath setup correctly but the application could not load the class or the application could not find the jar file which containes the driver class?
By the way, the third party application I was using to load this JDBC driver does not certified to use microsoft JDBC driver. But I don't think it matter?

That is an unusual message. Presumably you did not see "NoClassDefFoundError". If you see that it means the class could not be found.
Is above message means that my classpath setup

It could. Perhaps the app expects a certain functional level and the driver doesn't support that. And so it bails with the message that you see.
Or it could mean that you have do something special because it has its own class path, and the driver is not in that.

  • Oracle B2B 11g question about pulling data from remote TP sftp server

    Hi,
We would like replace our custom b2b solution with oracle b2b, but without resulting much changes in remote TP side. To do that the following issues are to be resolved.
    1) in the existing custom b2b, host tp is pulling data from remote TP location. How does oracle b2b pull data from remote location using sftp(AS1 1.1)? Oracle document says that by using global listening channel, we can make oracle b2b listen to the sftp server? Is that correct? Is there any sample about how to configure and test it.
    2) For outbound file we would like to preserve the file name. If you use sftp for sending the file out, is it possible to preserve the filename?
    3) Some incoming files which are datafiles , does not have any identification pattern. Is there any other way to identify the document type? For example from which location we are pulling the file can tell us the document type.

I am not sure what do you mean by AS1 1.1 but yes, SFTP is supported in Oracle B2B and if you want to poll a SFTP location, then you need to create a listening channel in Oracle B2B. For creating a listening channel, please refer -
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/integration.1111/e10229/bb_listen_chan.htm#BAJJICJJ
    2) For outbound file we would like to preserve the file name. If you use sftp for sending the file out, is it possible to preserve the filename?Yes, it is possible. There is a setting "Preserve Filename" in transport protocol parameter of a SFTP channel which should be enabled for this purpose.
    3) Some incoming files which are datafiles , does not have any identification pattern. Is there any other way to identify the document type? For example from which location we are pulling the file can tell us the document type. In case of FTP/FILE/SFTP, file name can be used to pass document type and revision information to Oracle B2B. Please refer "Filename format" setting on the above mentioned link.
I figured it out from another thread about how to pull the file. I configured the listening channel so that it reads from a remote server using sftpo protocol. And I have given the filename format as %FROM_PARTY%.dat. I am putting a file like TESTBC.dat. TESTBC is the name of the remote TP. B2B is reading the file but, recognizes the document tupe, but says that FromTP null. What is the solution?
Make sure that TP name is same as what you are giving in filename (cross-check for spelling). You may also try with default naming convention (do not mention anything in Filename format in listening channel configuration) - %FROM_PARTY%_%TIMESTAMP%.dat
    for eg -
    Acme_12345.dat

  • Question about the Apache plug-in and WL server

We have a bunch of Weblogic app-servers, and I want to set up Apache servers to
front-end them. Here is what I'd like to do:
    (1) Load balancer forwards requests to one of Apache servers
    (2) Apache serves the static content (html, gif, css etc.)
    (3) Apache servers forward the request to one of the alive Weblogic servers, with
requests for the same Weblogic session should preferably stay with the same Weblogic
    server.
The catch is that we are not using Weblogic clustering - we have our own application-specific
light-weight clustering (virtually no replication of dynamic state). All I want
is that the Apache plug-ins keep forwarding the packets to the same Weblogic server
for a session (unless the server dies), and that thsi property hold even if multiple
client requests (for the same session) are rotated across multiple Apache servers.
The first is really important, the second just nice-to-have (I can setup load-balancer
    with sticky sessions if needed).
The Apache plug-in documentation seems to suggest that we must use Weblogic clustering
for us to be able to specify multiple Weblogic servers in the plug-in config file,
    but is that really required?
Second, does the session cookie uniquely identify the Weblogic server or does
the Apache plug-in keep the mapping between the cookie and the server? Also, does
this answer depend on whether we use Weblogic clustering or not?
The answer depends on the protocol between the Apache plug-in and the Weblogic
server. Is it documented? Available under NDA?
Your help will be really appreciated!!
    thanks
    -amit

is that the Apache plug-ins keep forwarding the packets to the same Weblogic
    server
for a session (unless the server dies), If the session id is found in the cookie, request or postdata (in that order),
the plugin will preserve the sticky session.
and that thsi property hold even
    if multiple
client requests (for the same session) are rotated across multiple Apache
servers. The rules apply to all apache instances as the single instance.
BTW, the preferred server from the session has to be in the serverList(you defined
in the httpd.conf). You are not using clusters in the backend hence the server
    list will not be updated
dynamically. The plugin will not know the changes in the backend without modifying
    the httpd.conf and restarted.
The first is really important, the second just nice-to-have (I can setup
    load-balancer
    with sticky sessions if needed).
The Apache plug-in documentation seems to suggest that we must use Weblogic
    clustering
for us to be able to specify multiple Weblogic servers in the plug-in
    config file,
    but is that really required?
It's a recommended configuration, but not mandatory.
Second, does the session cookie uniquely identify the Weblogic server
    or does
the Apache plug-in keep the mapping between the cookie and the server? The server info is in the cookie for the same client although
the plugin also maintains a list of servers.
    Also, does
this answer depend on whether we use Weblogic clustering or not?
    No.
The answer depends on the protocol between the Apache plug-in and the
    Weblogic
server. Is it documented? Available under NDA?
Your help will be really appreciated!!
We only support http and https(60sp1 or later).
