Question continued about GPIB-232CV-A to AaronK

Now i am programming my programme with Assemble Language such MCS-51 series.I give a write command to the instrument with the Rs232's command style and the TALK led is on .Then i write a read command to get message, but i can not get and the the Talk LED is still on while the Listen led is off.so i don't know the reason.

Hi,
When you write your information, does the instrument on the receiving side actually read the data sent? It is hard to guess at what could be going wrong given this data. Do you have a GPIB analyzer that you could hook up to analyze the signals on the bus? If the data is getting to the instrument, are you sure that the instrument is trying to return data? Also you might consider using a regular PC with RS232 to make sure that both the 232CV is working as well as the instrument you are connected to before you switch to the more advanced microprocessor approach.

  • Another question about GPIB-232CV-A

i am using the GPIB-232CV-A to control a HP instrument through the RS232 port in the PC. I set the GPIB-232CV-A to be work on the CONTROLLER MODE.But when i write a command to the instrument , then i use a read command to get the message from the instrument .I find that the GPIB-232CV-a is always on the TALK statu, and the Listen LED can not ON. What is the problem? what else detail should i pay attention to? thanks a lot!

    Hi,
You have your 232CV-A set to C mode, thats good. It is not clear to me if you are able to read and write and the question is in reference to the LED's or you are having a functional problem with the 232CV.
    Also, how are you communicating?
You might note that the GPIB232-CV-A is not compatible with instruments that require the EOI line to be asserted.
Three methods of signaling the end of a data transfer on the GPIB bus include EOS, EOI, and Count. The EOS (end of string) method requires sending a character that signifies the end of the transfer, such as a line feed. The EOI (end or identify) method sets the EOI line high when the last byte is being sent. The Count method has the receiving device read a certain number of bytes.
    If your instrument
requires that the EOI line be asserted to signify termination of data transfer, the GPIB232CT-A may be a better choice.
    Hope this helps out!

  • My question is about the 'Restore Backup' option on iTunes (Not 'Restore iPhone'). So, if I click on Back Up Now, then 'Restore Backup', would that go through the process of erasing everything on my phone as new then restore whatever iTunes has backed up?

My question is about the 'Restore Backup' option on iTunes (Not 'Restore iPhone'). So, if I click on Back Up Now, then 'Restore Backup', would that go through the process of erasing everything on my phone as new then restore whatever iTunes has backed up?
I do not want this to happen, as with previous experience iTunes doesn't restore a mirror of what the iPhone was when it was backed up as is the case with iCloud backups.
What I am trying to do is, as I've found a method on Youtube, there is an application where I can delete all the multimedia saved in my 'iMessages' so clear up some space. As doing that manually through the phone would take a lifetime. The method is to backup on iTunes, then using the backup created, importing that into the application then deleting the messages through that then restoring the phone using that amended backup.
So back to my question, would restoring through 'Restore Backup' just restore the backup internally or would it flush the entire phone and then restore the backup? And if it does so, what would be lost in the restore?
    Thank you all,
    Fahmid

iCloud should overwrite your phone with the data stored in your account, preserving your newer data.  However, to be sure I would go to Settings>iCloud and turn data syncing to Off before restoring the backup.  Then, after restoring the backup, turn the data syncing back to on, and when prompted about Merging with iCloud, choose Don't Merge.  This will ensure that the data in your iCloud account overwrites the data on your phone (which is your goal).
Also, you don't sync text messages with iCloud so you will end up losing your more recent messages when they are overwritten by the backup.

  • All LEDs are lit on my GPIB-232CV-A. What's that mean?

I just got my GPIB-232CV-A in today, and when I power it up, all the LEDs come on immediately and stay on. Looking at the manual, it looks like the Power LED is supposed to come on first, and then the Ready LED a few seconds after that, so I'm guessing that all LEDS on is some sort of error code, but I don't find any documentation for that anywhere.
    Any ideas?

    Hi brandhilton,
All the LED's should not be turning on. I've got a couple of troublehsooting steps for you:
    1) With the power off, disconnect all GPIB and Serial cables from your 232CV-A, and double check the DIP switch settings. Be sure to toggle each one.
    2) If you are using the DC version, double check that the power supply is supplying 9V at the DC connector.
If all the LEDs are still turning on, please call 1-800-IEEE488 so that we can set up an RMA and get this taken care of.

with that limited information you gave me, it's quite difficult for me to point you in the right direction as i don't know the whole picture of your problem.

  • GPIB-232CV-A

I have a GPIB-USB-B connected to GPIB-232CV-A which in turn is connected to an "in house" serial device.
When i send comands to the serial device it may take anywhere from .5 to 50 seconds to respond.  Is there
method to poll the GPIB-232CV-A converter to see if the response has returned from the serial device??
I have tried the "Receive(...)" or the ibrd(...) command but they timeout and give me an error...

  • Student needing some questions answered about Manufacturing Scheduling software

    Greetings;
I am a undergraduate senior at Arizona State University majoring in Supply Chain Management. I am currently doing a project about Oracle's Manufacturing Scheduling option and have a few general questions for those of you that have used the software and/or involved with its implementation. Your help is greatly appreciated. If you are uncomfortable releasing your company's name that is fine. If you do not want to post the answers here, I can also be emailed at rmkraus"SAYNOTOSPAMBOTS"@asu.edu. Thank you!!
    The questions I have are:
What is your experience with the manufacturing scheduling software?
What is/was your role with the software?(ie buyer, consultant, user, technical support, etc)
How do you feel about the software's ease of use?
What training did you recieve or did your company offer?
How much did implementing the software approxiamately cost?
What do you feel are the advantages of the software?
What do you feel are the disadvantages of the software?
Did your company have any problems during the implementation?
Has your company experienced cost savings due to the software?
Have you or your company used any competing software in the past?
Any other insight that you would like to share?
Thank you, I greatly appreciate your help.

    Im not sure on 5
I know it's unusual, but if your project budget is
good you may have more than one constructor. At least
that's what I thoughtach.. you poor fellow, you are confused now aren't you.
i bet taht in the fifth question they are talking about 'constructor methods', not procrammers who are constructing the code (or 'contractors')
if your budget allws then you may even have three or 87 contractors, but that's not the case here.
i hope that clarifies things a bit.
and PS! i don't like when people intentionally give bad solutions to others.

  • Question # 3 about the HDMI-DVI cable

OK...My older DVD player is working just fine with the component video cable.
Now let's suppose that DVD player eventually stops working and I replace it with a new one.
On the newer DVD players, does the HDMI-DVI cable take the place of the component video cable or do both cables need to be used?  Can the newer DVD players function with just the HDMI-DVI cable alone?

I actually just answered my own question right before I saw your reply.  But thank you for confirming what I thought.  That makes a lot of sense.  I already have my existing DVD player set up with the component video cable and you are correct about needing an audio cable.  I learned that through a process of elimination when I was setting that up and I have plenty of extra audio cables in my closet, so we're definitely on the same wavelength.  My existing DVD player doesn't have the HDMI capability but the component video cable is fine.  Now I just have a better understanding of how this works.   I believe that my existing DVD player is analog but it's very good and I will glady keep it until it goes.
I was also just fooling with my TV settings.  On my "source" list, I had had TV selected as source but I switched it to HDMI, which is what I already connected to my HDTV --- what a difference in sound and picture quality.

        insert into t1
      (parent_id, child_id)
    values

    WITH  got_paths      AS
      SELECT  SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH (parent_id, ' -> ')  AS parent_path
      ,  SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH (child_id,  ' -> ')  AS child_path

    ,  MAX ( SUBSTR ( child_path, 5, INSTR (child_path, ' -> ', 1, 2) - 4)|| parent_path)      AS path
    FROM    got_paths
;the query works fine for the sample cases, but I need to modify the query once again, so that this time around I get only this as output instead
    child Parent

    Hi,
Thanks for posting the CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements.
Whenever you post a question, please say what version of Oracle you're using. That's especially important if you're using CONNECT BY, and even more important if your version is over 7 years old, as Oracle 9 is. Even if you've given your version in some other thread, and even if that thread was only a few hours ago, always say what version of Oracle you're using. Not everyone who wants to help you has read all of your earlier posts, and not everyone who has read all your earlier posts recognizes that you are the same poster, and not everyone who has read all of your earlier posts and recognizes you as the same poster remembers everything from the earlier messages. Is it really that hard to say something like: "I'm using Oracle 9.2.0.1.0"?
It always helps if you explain why you want the given results from the given data.
    In this case:
    SELECT     child_id
    ,     parent_id
    FROM     t1
    WHERE     child_id     = 'D4'
;produces the correct results, but it may be for the wrong reasons, and therefore it might not work on your full table.
Is there anything about your data that you're not saying? For example, is child_id unique?
What results do you want from the second set of data that you posted (the data with 4-character ids, such as 'P111')?
If you want to pass a parameter (say a child_id) to the query, give a few examples of different inputs and the output you want from each one.

Ok, let me start off with the system basics–

    Model Identifier: MacBookPro3,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.6 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1

I am in dire need of more on-board storage. I frequently travel, and toting an external HD has become exceptionally awkward, especially through airport security and customs.
To forestall the inevitable suggestions, no, I cannot use a web-based storage service, as I'm frequently in areas without access.
    Now, here's what wanted know:
    1) The Link Speed of the HD is 1.5 Gigabit, so I'm assuming that means that it's an SATA 1.5 interface. Now, if I were to install an SATA 3.0 Gigabit HD in this laptop, would it just step down to match the 1.5, or are they two completely separate, non-compatible interfaces?
    2) I have a stationary external HD that I use for making Time Machine backups when I can. If I install a new drive, all I should have to do from there is install OS X on it, and restore my backup from there, correct?
If I need to do a flat reinstall on everything, that can be done as well, but I'll need to notify some people that I'm grounded for a few days while I get everything back to working order.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
    <Edited by Host>

    1) Thanks, that alleviates my biggest source of concern. =)
    2) I've done full restores with TM before, and I rather like that it's fairly stupid-proof. I'm fairly good with hardware; however, my wife calls me the Reaper when it comes to software-end things.
I'm going to mark this as helpful, because it has been very much so, but I'll leave it as an open question until I get the new drive in to do the install.
Worst case, I play a game of musical hardware and give my 6mm Torx a workout.
As far as repurposing the old drive, I have an ridiculous amount of external storage, so that's not an issue. Frankly, I'd prefer to pickle & box the old drive as an emergency backup, on the off chance that my new one fails; I don't know about you, but I can't just run down the street and buy a 2.5" drive at the drop of the hat.
Yay for all the decent stores in my area being put out of business by Best Buy.

  • Question(s) about Zen Neeon (specifically number of songs in a fold

I recently placed an order for the Zen Neeon because its small, its UMS (I don't like using software to upload my music to my player) and its cool looking. But, after ordering, I became more aware about the problems with the player.
The biggest gripe that people have is the lag between songs. I read that in the manual, it says not to have more than 50 songs in a folder.
So, here are a few questions:
) If I have say 2 songs in a folder (average length of an album), how long of a lag between tracks would I expect?
    2) If I make a playlist of more than 50 songs that spans a couple of different folders, would I expect a large lag between songs?
I have a Muvo2 (currently broken with a non-functional headphone jack. I should send it in though for repair) and I loved the player. I hoped that the Zen Neeon would be a great replacement, but it looks like with these initial problems, it would only be a good replacement. I did not mind on the Muvo2 the long time for it to load up after I transfer tracks to it, but there was barely any lag when play songs.
Looks like the Zen Neeon is very similiar to the Muvo OS...so I'm wondering why there is a problem with the long gap playing between songs.

index26 wrote:I thought the Neeon was a microdri've based player, not solidstate.
I'm not too sure with the Neeon, if it's over Gb then it may well be a microdri've like some of the MuVo? players.
