Question on document applications

I'm interesting in purchasing an IPad, but I'm confused on what type of document program can I put on it? I'm not familiar with Keynote or numbers and I am looking for a program that is similar to Word. Can I get something like that on the Ipad or is it not worth it and I should just purchase a new Mac laptop? I currently have a Mac that has the Mac version of Microsoft Word.
My use of it is something smaller that I can carry around at work/meetings but I will be typing documents the majority of the time. I like the idea of the iPad but would find it unless if I can't type my reports/notes/papers in a "word" like program.

I am currently doing what you want to do - that's the short answer. The longer answer:
If what you want to do it start working on documents on the iPad and then finish them on your computer, there are a number of programs that will work. Evernote, for example, is a powerful swiss army knife application. I use it for keeping important snippets, documents, etc but I also take notes in it. Since it syncs to the Evernote cloud, when I sit down at my computer my notes are right there and can be copied into my word processor. SimpleNote has similar syncing capabilities but it is a simple text processor. Evernote is more like TextEdit in its text capability.
The iPad version of iWork is quite powerful and limited. As I continue to use the programs I scratch my head in wonder both at what has been stuffed into the program and what has been left out. Since I use iWork for more than 80% of my work, I find the iPad suite very useful but I only use them for creating documents on the iPad for completion on my computer. I don't often try moving files back and forth because the process of importing an iWork file into the iPad isn't always seamless.

    I have some question about document/literal web service.
    I’ve been working with Axis before.
    Axis has four valid signatures for your message-style service methods:

    public void method(SOAPEnvelope req, SOAPEnvelope resp);
    The same I am trying to do with WebLogic API for webservices.
    But when I am trying to test web service (public Document method (Document body); )
    I have serialized exceptions for org.w3c.dom.Document.
    Do I have to write a custom class for org.w3c.dom.Document serialization?
    If yes can you give me some idea or example?
    The all idea behind this web service is. I have just one web service and mane classes for XML processing. Depends what xml document will be during runtime, web service will be using different class for xml processing. It works fine with Axis, but in case of WebLogic I have some problem.
    One more question… How I have to call this web service from java client?
    I have seen this example http://www.manojc.com/?sample31 ,
    but this web service looks like (Document helloDom()). I need to send Document.
    This example works for Dynamic Proxy, but does not work for static call.

    I am getting a similar issue. I created a Document-style/literal webservice and deployed on Weblogic 9.2 . Then I generated client stubs using clientgen. I get the following exception stack trace:

  • Migration only transfers username, no documents/applications/settings

    I'm trying to use Migration Assistant to transfer data from one Macbook to another (both using Snow Leopard) but it only seems to be doing part of the job. It will set up a new account on the new computer but refuses to transfer the settings/documents/applications from my old one. I've used Migration before and never had this problem. Now I have 3 user accounts on the new computer and they're all listed as administrators, so I can't delete any of them. It goes through all the transfer process of looking for documents, etc to move, but doesn't actually move any of them. Any thoughts?

    you can delete any account including admin while logged into a different admin account.
    It goes through all the transfer process of looking for documents, etc to move, but doesn't actually move any of them. Any thoughts?
    did you log into the migrated account? the migrated documents should be inside the migrated home directory and you won't see them while logged in as a different user.

    Does anybody have the experience of having set up an EDI putput for a Mmaterial Document( Application "ME")?
    I tried to configure a new output type by assigning it with Program RSNASTED and routine EDI_PROCESSING.
    Setting up the partner profile is still pending but when i created a test document by creating a condition record i get an error message "Purchasing document XXXXX does not exist" where XXXXX happens to be the Material document number in this case.
    Before proceeding further i just want to ensure if i am using the correct programs and Routines and i havent seen any available EDI output type provided by SAP for application ME.
    Appreciate your response and inputs to proceed further.

  • Conceptual questions with document management and Apex:

    Hello Everyone,
    I have reviewed or participated in thread discussions focusing primarily on subject matters concerning text editors, spellcheckers and document printing. The reason for this is due to our client requesting the creation of a basic centralized document management system that will enable users to create, edit and print technical documents in a database centric web-based environment. The caveat is that the client would like the same basic functionality that users get from MS Word. I know about FCKeditor or TinyMCE and their associated spellcheckers. What concerns me is that I have not found a possible plug-in to handle tracking changes, no one wants to re-read a large multiple page document again when all they would rather do is just view the changes. I know there are possible database schemas that might facilitate this type of functionality; I am just hoping it is more of a plug-in function.
    So with all that being said my dilemma is how to approach the design of such an application using Apex, if that is possible. Some questions I have are:
    1. Do design the application where you have a text field that contains the entire document, which could be as many as 25 or more pages?
    2. Or do you break down the document in to multiple text fields and then assimilate them in to a single multi page document when printing?
    3. Would you store the document data using XML under condition 1, 2, both or not at all?
    4. What types of data tables might exist, such as tables for document templates, work-in-process and final documents or something else?
    I know there are a lot of other concepts/questions to consider and a large part of the design approach would be based on client requirements. My goal here is to gather different basic conceptual approaches, from forum members, in order to help facilitate a starting point for the project.
    By the way I have seen on the Apex Latest Forum Poll, for quite sometime, where Document Management is an application that people would like to see developed. Can anyone from the Apex-team tell me if it is in the works and if so, when?

    Thanks for the response; actually I had visited the sample package apps. site awhile back and did not realize more had been added. My problem is that I use Apex 2.1 and not 2.2, so unless there is a way to load the package apps. to the Oracle hosted site, I won't be able to review there design. It would be nice if Oracle tied these package apps. to their demonstration applications sample downloads function in Apex.
    As for storing each line of the document in a single record, this was thought of as an initial approach. A concern by the team was how to program the logic to identify specific changed text in say a 5 sentence paragraph and how large the table would become if recording it line by line.
    It is still a good approach to consider and we appreciate the input.

  • Font size, spacing in editable PDF document (application form)

    I am trying to fill out an application form that has already been created by a university. The form's instructions indicate that applicants must fill in the fields using Times New Roman 12 point font with 1.5 spacing. However, nowhere in Adobe Reader do I see any option for changing the parameters of the text that I can type into the fields. Is this even possible?

  • Questions about database application tables connector

    Hi all,
    I need to manage with OIM several databases (each one with its custom tables).
    Also, one of them will be my trusted target on the initial load of users. The structure of our tables is not similar to the included in the example.
    The documentation explains how the OraAppX.xml could be modified but it doesn't speak about relations with "DBTable_nonTrusted.xml" and/or "DBTable_trusted.xml" For example, if I don't have a column called USR_COMM_LANG, could I replace this column name for another that I have in my database ? And what about the references on the "DBTable_nonTrusted.xml" file. Connector doc doesn't explain how references to that field (USR_COMM_LANG---xel_usr_comm_lang) are managed by the connector and if the normal working of the connector could be affected if the name of a variable is changed in the xml conf file.
    It could be that adapters of this connector were hardcoded with the referece to xel_usr_comm_lang (???) .
    The connector documentation includes a section titled "Adding Custom Database Columns for Provisioning and Reconciliation". The first impression reading this document is that it is possible to extend the predefined table rather than create and define a new structure of table.
    Has anyone rebuilt the "DBTable_nonTrusted.xml", "DBTable_trusted.xml" and "OraAppX.xml" files changing all default variables in order to manage a customized table? .

    Hi Claudia,
    1) Yes, you must replace the column names in the "column" tag on your XML file for the column names that you have in your database tables. Also, remember that you need to configure the other parameters (like data_type, data_typ_size, etc) according to your database table.
    2) The "xel_data_source" parameter is the attribute name that will be recognized by the OIM and they can be mapped to a form field (UD_DBAPP_XXXX) in your process definition in OIM Design Console.
    3) You can customize your Database Application Tables connector for provisioning as you wish, but some issues exists. In the Known Issues section of the documentation you can see that this connector doesn't work for more than two tables.
    4) To customize your Database Application Tables for Trusted Recon, there are other restrictions because OIM users have some required fields that must be filled to create a user successfully.

    I'm sorry about the off-topic nature of this question. I have some documents that I would like to publish, they have been scanned and are currently in .pdf format, as well as some .jpg pictures, and I also want to write a story around these objects as well, plus add some audio. I have iWeb, but am unsure if this is the best application to use, or given the content of what I would like to place on the website, if there is a better application to use? Any help most appreciated.

    Bruce ~ It's hard to know whether an alternative app is "better" than iWeb for your particular purpose until you've tried it out. Two alternatives worth considering are the free, web-based Weebly — read more in this post:

    I have 2 questions regarding DoR:
    Is there any backup on application level to documents which were added and later deleted/overwritten? Is there something like versioning or date tracking?
    Can I personalize the DoR search to include other attribute fields from person or assignment such as assignment location, supervisor etc...?

    Business of Size of 8k to 10 K using this functionality atlest 15 Documents each employee, System does not have restriction to be used be for 20 K employee also.
    2. What is the effect of this increased Database size on System Performance & Instance refresh/Clone timings?
    As this going to stored in Table in Blob Column. This should not be issue of Instance Refresh/Clone.
    3. Document of Records uses Workflow technology for Document Verification/Authorization, Can AME be used to implement Document Verification instead?

    4. What is the future roadmap for Documents of Record in Fusion? Will there be an upgrade path available from R12 E-Biz to Fusion?
    As my understanding E-Biz and Fusion are different Product suite. There is not upgrade structure exist from E-Biz to Fusion for any product and its components.

  • Multi-document Application using JTextPane - Issue

    Hi.
    I'm making a java IDE as a class assignment where the user opens a certain project and all associated files open (i.e. all files in the requested folder). Opening is not an issue but here's the real problem. When a file opens (in the JTextPane), the user should be able to edit it. Although my program enables this, what also happens is that if the user switches onto viewing another file (i.e. clicking a file name from a tree in the file pane) the previously open file obviously closes and nothing is saved. I don't want to save the users edits in the actual file until and unless the user themselves click save, but 'd like the application to store the intermediate state of documents until a save request or until the program is terminated. Is there any easy way of doing this?

    For Appraisal document customizing through PHAP_CATALOG_PA, We have BADI HRHAP00_BSP_TMPL  to change the BSP application name which can be used in Web layout for output display. Using this we can change application name from HAP_DOCUMENT to custom BSP application name
    Similarly, what is the BADI for changing Web dynpro ABAP applictaion name? Currently its triggering HAP_MAIN_DOCUMENT.

    I don't know, if there is any chance to get the Webdynpro application name. At least in the ABAP System fields is no information about the webdynpro application name.
    One remark: I have allways problems with BAPIS / BADIS that behave different depending on the caller. Could it be a good idea to pass some information through the interface / parameters?

    I have a question regarding the ASO applications for telecom company built in Essbase 11 version. Please provide your feedback on the design.

    In ASO attribute dimensions are treated like regular dimensions, That is to say they are materalized just like a regular dimension. Changing them to UDA's won't buy you the same performance as having them as dimensions will. The one nice thing about Attributes in ASO cubes (and BSO cubes) is you don't clutter us the screen with dimensions that are not used a lot. If your attrubite dimensions are used often in your ASO cube, there would be no performance difference if you made them regular dimensions.
