Question on sun warranty start of coverage

hi, if my hardware warranty on a server expires on April 1 and i renew it by May 1, when would the hardware warranty starts? Arpil 1 or May 1?
i'm confused because normally when we renew a service warranty, the warranty period would start at the time of renewal or registration/activation. our local sun dealer says that the renewed warranty period starts at the date the previous warranty expires, in this case April 1.
so what happened is that we lose one month of the warranty period because we renew it on May 1! is this the standard procedure for sun hardwares? also, we were never informed that this was the case.
appreciate any help.

While it might not be too good an idea (you essentially want the DPS for load balancing AND failover, right? So why risk putting it on the same machine ;) ), it does work.
I recently implemented DPS on Solaris, and things generally work fine. (The command line interface isn't too reliable though). If you are thinking of routing all your traffic over SSL (ie, Client---ssl--->DPS---ssl--->DS), make sure you apply the latest patch available for the DPS. The dps524.jar that comes with the default installer isn't what it used to be (JES 2005Q4), and will give you issues when configuring SSL for DPS. Apart from that, things are more or less a breeze.

  • ASK: Warranty started 3 months before Laptop was ordered ??

    Hi Folks,
I guess I am aiming this question at Mark or one of the other Lenovo people who frequent the forum.
I recieved my Laptop (300 n200  0769-BRG) as a birthday present back in January this year. It was bought from Laptops Direct in the UK (invoice date: 2008-01-21).
On firing the Laptop up I registered with the online registration thing that appears when you start the machine up.
Since owning it the dvd drive died and was replaced under warranty with no hassle.
However, the replacement has started exhibiting similar behavior (problems reading dvds) and upon checking my warranty status online I find it supposedly expired on the 26-09-08:
Type:0769 Model: BRGSerial number:  xxxxxx   Status:Out of warranty Expiration date:2008-09-26 Location:  UNITED KINGDOM
I have an html copy of the invoice clearly stating invoice number and order date etc which I can email to Lenovo warranty staff (athough as it was a present the machine was ordered by my aunt so her name is on the invoice).
What can I do to sort out the obvious discrepency between the order date and the fact that the warranty started almost three months before the laptop was ordered?
    Advice welcome as always
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Rob

Call Lenovo service, and tell them that your warranty date does not reflect the invoice date, they will then proceed to change your warranty date, once they received a copy of the invoice/receipt.

  • TS1440 Flashing question mark when I start the MacBook

Hello!, I have a MacBook Pro  but there was a flashing question mark when I start the MacBook, it does not go away, I have read the tips on you all site, but I can't find anything, it is for the Mac, not for a MacBook. Can anyone help me please?? Thanks!

Question (?) Mark, Blinking Folder, or Gray Screen at Startup
These are related but not identical issues. Their causes are outlined in Intel-based Mac- Startup sequence and error codes, symbols. Solutions may be found in:
A flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac
Mac OS X- Gray screen appears during startup
In most cases the problems may be caused by one or more of these:
Problem with the computer's PRAM - See Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM.
Boot drive's directory has been corrupted - Repair with Disk Utility.
Critical system files are damaged or deleted - Reinstall OS X.
The disk drive is physically non-functional - Replace the hard drive.
Note that the information I have provided is what Apple recommends, If other users suggest different solutions than found here, then be sure what they recommend does not impact on your warranty, if any, or ability to get continuing Apple service.
Please don't start removing drives or changing cables unless you know what you are doing and have exhausted other non-invasive alternatives outlined here. If you perform any work yourself that is unapproved by Apple, then you will void any warranty you may have and lose all further Apple Support.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
The main difference if you are using Lion or Mountain Lion is that you must first boot from the Recovery HD. Simply boot from the Recovery HD to perform the above.
Reinstall Snow Leopard Without Erasing The drive
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing The Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

HP Stream 7 Tablet - 5709. Tablet received 1/24/15 and I registered it that day. When I go to my Warranty Check page and enter my serial number, it shows the warranty start date was November 05, 2014.  When I wrote HP Support, my reply (CASE:edite case by moderator) states: "Support Case Manager is not available at this time for HP Stream 7 5709 Tablet.

    HI @BAGS7 ,
I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publically post ( serial numbers and case details).

Icloud or itunes backup, only backs up app data, not the app itself.

  • Warranty Start Date Changes

my iMac wasnt purchased from an apple store and from an online retailer. It turns out the warrranty start date is showing as when the retailer purchased it and not me. I was advised by apple local store at genius bar to send an email to [email protected] to advise on this and that the warranty start date would be amended.
this was over a week ago and Ive still not heard back so dont know if its been updated or not. I did ask for them to let me know as my iMac needs an urgent repair.
anyone had this sort of problem?

  • Macbook Pro When warranty start?

    Hi guys,
May I know when did the MacbookPro warranty start?
The date of purchased or the date of setup?
I have an unit which haven open or sealed off at all,
but it have been bought from the store a month ago.
    I get few version online.
Some said the date of purchase while some said it require user to register online.
Although there are several discussion in earlier,
but that was few years ago. May I have the latest confirm info?
    Anyone Please?

I don't know but I assumed the date you bought it and took possession. No not the date you open the box or register online. You have anytime during the first year of possession to buy Applecare extended warranty, a must have for any laptop due to the problems that arise.

  • Flashing question mark folder at start, broken CD drive, warranty Q's.

    Hello! Thanks for reading.
Okay, so here's the background: I was just chilling around the house yesterday with my macbook, and it freezes, with no response from the touchpad or keyboard. I figure no problem, and just turn it off and on again. And then thats when I got the flashing question mark folder.
So I hopped on my family's PC to do some research, hoping to be able to fix it myself. Turns out the best way to fix it is to pop in the disk that came with the computer during start up... which I can't do because my disk drive is broken. I also tried other things, like pressing various keys (ctrl + option + p + r, or something like that)... and that didn't work.
The disk drive broke when I was at school, and as it was finals week, I had no time to get my computer to a genius bar. Then I moved quite a distance (see below), a process which has taken up most of my summer and made me quite busy to the point it has taken my macbook pretty much dying on me to get it to a genius bar. Gah.
So I guess I have a lot of questions now.
My computer is JUST a year old, by give or take a week or two.
I bought my computer from an authorized U.S. reseller in Japan while I was living there (I live in the US now, which I definitely wasn't expecting a year ago)... and no contact from apple came to buy apple care. Is it possible that because of the circumstance under which I bought my computer, that apple may still cover any repair or replacement fees under the warranty?
Also, I made an appointment at the local genius bar. Will that be free?
Also, does anybody have any other suggestions about how to get my computer up and running away from the **** that is the question mark folder?
Much thanks! I appreciate your time.

You made 2 big mistakes. 1) Apple may or may not contact you about AppleCare (sometimes I've gotten a postcard or email and other times I've not) but it is up to you to buy it before the 1 year mark. 2) whether it was convenient to get the computer repaired at the time or not, you should have contacted Apple to get the issue in the computer. If you didn't, Apple has no reason to believe it happened after the warranty ended.
You are going to foot the bill for the repairs

  • Satellite L850-Y3110 - Question about International warranty

I bought a Satellite laptop L850-Y3110 in India which has an international warranty.
There's a problem with it now, it's cd drive is faulty and I took it to an authorized service centre in Newcastle.
It needs the cd driver to be replaced, but now Im told Toshiba wont give the part cause I didn't but it in the UK, and the person told me to go back to where I bought it from and fix it there, I wont be going back there any time soon, so thats out of the option.
My question is what's the point of the International warranty if it's going to have these kinds of drawbacks.
When I bought a laptop I wanted one which would be in warranty internationally cause Im a student going out of the country for studies, thats why I bought this one as it has international warranty and my laptop still is in international warranty.
What am I to do now?

    Hi
Im not quite sure about the notebooks sold in India but the notebooks sold in Europe are covered with at least 1 year European standard warranty, valid from the date of purchase
    http://www.toshiba.eu/services/standard-warranty/
This warranty does not cover repair in other countries but in case of hardware malfunction you have to visit the authorized service provider in country where you made the purchase.
To get international warranty coverage you would need to purchase an International Warranty extension: details here http://www.toshiba.eu/services/warranty-extension/
In case the International Warranty has been registered for your notebook, the ASP in UK should be able to fix the notebook under international warranty conditions.

    Hi All,
How do I find Cisco warranty strart/due date for a purchased Catalyst 3560 series switch by serial number?
    Many thanks for your answers.
    Moss

    Hello Moss,
First, you'll need a CCO account to login.
Then go to Tools & resources.
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/web/tools-catalog.html
Click on Device Coverage checker at the top and you'll be asked to enter the serial number of the device you are trying to verify.
It will verify if the device is covered and the expiration date.
Here is a link that gives a little info on device checker.
