           can u tel me  what is business area and why we assign it with sales area....

Hello,
Business Areas in SAP are used to differentiate transactions originating from different points/lines/locations in business.
As per SAP, The intergration of Sales are to Business are help in:-
You can charge the amounts that arise from the business transactions of several sales areas to one business area.
You can assign a business area to a sales area and charge the amounts that arise from the business transactions of the sales area to this business area.
Once you assign the business are to sales area:-
The system then finds the corresponding business area for account assignment using the sales area for:
Revenue postings
Value postings due to material movements

  • Relation between business area and materials

    I have to extract the materials given the business area , can i use these the tables t134g and mbew for that . Both have common field valuation area , t134g has business area and mbew has material number in it. I appreciate your responses.

    You can directly use MBEW table to retrive Materials for a particelar valuation type. No need to use MARA.

  • Question related to work area

    I have a work area of the format yyyymm. I want to transfer first 4 digits to another work area which is like year and the next 2 digits to another work area which is like month? Can you suggest me a sample code here?

    Hi Krishen,
    U can achieve this by Splitting of a variable(date YYYYMM in the work area) into two or more variables .. using the OFFSET concept given by SAP ....
    here goes ...
    Data : var1(4) type c, "year
           var2(2) type c. "month
    U have the date in the work area as YYYYMMDD lets say ... date = YYYYMMDD
    now u have to assign the data to the variables ....
    var1 = date+0(4). "YYYY
    var2 = date+4(2). "MM
    The above means
    u are assigning the first 4 characters (YYYY) of the variable DATE to VAR1
    and the next 2 characters starting from 'M' (MM) to VAR2
    thats one of the way how u split the work area into two or more ........

  • Abt business area

    Hi Friends,
    I am new in sdn community. i hv one quiery related to business area.
    Client has two plants and two  business area both have same customer/vendor. If they purchased  raw material for both plants. suppose- client has purchased Rs10000  for both plants Rs5000 each plant. Vendor is same than they will pay by a cheque amt of RS10000 . But reporting purpose they want entry both busienss area. Now client want when they pay to vendor and do the entry in sap, amount will reflect both busienss area (5000 each business area)  automatically .
    Now my question is can we do thats  kind of settings in SAP FI or not. If  possible please let me know.

    There is no direct way of doing this, the reason being:
    There are 3 options to determine the BA - Plant+Div assignment, Sales Area assignment or Sales Org + DistChnl + Item Div assignment.
    In the first and the 3rd cases, the Division is picked up from the Item (in this case material). Therefore, it reads the division maintained in the Material Master.
    The settings in OMJ7 (Plant/Val Area + Div = BA) (Table T134G/T134H) determine the Business Area picked up during MM postings. Since you have only one material, you can only maintain 1 division for both. If you now define a rule for picking up the BA, it won't work (Plant + Div =  BA or Plant + <<blank div>> = BA).
    Now since there is no direct way, you need to resort to indirect methods. Options are:
    1. Take delivery into a Dummy Plant and then post a Goods movement from this Dummy to the respective plants by changing the material (Mvmt Type: 309/310).
    2. Have an additional characteristic that will map to the required BA... this needs to be investigated. For my client, we created an additional partner function that mapped to the proper BA.
    The business scenario needs to be investigated. Play around with config for a bit and let's see if you come up with anything. It'll give me some time to think up other possibilities.

  • Business Area not flowing automatically in Shipment Cost document

    In transportation module, while creating shipment cost document, business area is not flowing automatically. Upon more exploration we found that plant is also not flowing, and may be because of that business area is not flowing. What can the posible reasons for plnt not flowing? Suggest solution.

    Dear Deepshikha,
    Please check the Assign purchasing data settings in T_53 transaction with the combination of the plant.
    Through this setting plant will flow in the shipment cost document.
    I don't have idea about where the businees area field avail in the shipment cost document.
    If so please chek the settings related to business area through this IMG path.
    SPRO>IMG>Enterprise structure>Assignment>Business Area Account Assignment.
    Define Rules By Sales Area
    If Rule 1 is assigned then
    Assign Business Area To Plant And Division
    If Rule 2 is assigned then
    Assign Business Area by Sales Area.

    What are the SD side configuration needed if we create a new business area. At present we are having 3 business area  defined by rule  plat and Item division. Is it necessary to create a new sales organization for the newly defined  business area?
    As i know we have to do the follwing configuration.pls guide me if i am missing something.
    1 .Creation of new plant( by MM people)
    2. Assign business area to plant and division(SD)
    3. Define and assign new shipping point for the new plant (SD)
    4. Assign Sales Org and Dist Channel to Plant in enterprise structure(SD)

    I have a report based on a custom table .The custom table contains company code, materials and their date run as primary keys.
    In the selection screen I am having one field business area, based upon the value entered in the selection screen in business area field I have to retrieve the corresponding materials.
    I want to know the relation between business area and materials ( resp. tables and primary keys)

    Dear Satish,
    Business Area - Organizational unit of external accounting that corresponds to a specific business segment or area of responsibility in a company. Movements in value entered in Financial Accounting are assigned to business areas.
    Financial statements can be created for business areas for internal purposes.
    The definition of the business area organizational unit is optional.
    Business areas are used in external segment reporting (over and above company codes), based on the significant areas of operation of a company (for example, product lines, branches).
    To define business areas, choose the following in Customizing for the Enterprise Structure: Definition -> Financial Accounting -> Define Business Area.
    If you have defined business areas, the transaction figures for the G/L accounts are managed separately for internal evaluation purposes. You can therefore create internal financial statements for business areas.
    If you want to create financial statements for business areas, you must make sure that the Business area field is ready for input in all the line items. To do this, proceed as follows in Customizing for Financial Accounting: Financial Accounting Global Settings -> Business Area -> Enable Business Area Balance Sheet.
    To post items in a business area, enter the business area when you enter the business transaction. However, the business area can also be derived from other account assignments, such as the cost center. To enable the system to do this, you must define the business area in the cost center master record.
    If you enter a cross-company code document, you can post to different business areas across all company codes in one document. As a result, any number of combinations of company code and business area are possible.
    Industry Sector - When you create a material master record, you are required to classify the material according to industry sector and material type.
    The standard system contains the following industry sectors. The ID used to identify the industry sector internally appears in parentheses.
    ·        Plant engineering and construction (A)
    ·        Chemical industry (C)
    ·        Mechanical engineering (M)
    ·        Pharmaceuticals (P)
    The other sectors are for retail.

    Hi,
    In Purchase Order, Business Area will get populated under "Account Assinment" Tab in case if Account Assignment category is used. This gets determined from Account assignment object (CO Object).
    In POs w/o Account Assignment, Business Area can not be seen, this will get get determined during GR (MIGO) and will get updated in material and accounting docs. based on OMJ7 config. and material master plant+division.
    Hi,
    For your question to activate Business Area under "Account Assignment" Tab, go to OME9 and for Account Assignment Category, go to the detailed screen and in field selection, mark Business Area as Optional/Required as per requirement.

    Dear Humility,
    If, I am not wrong, Business Area is assigned to Company Code via Finance (i.e. NO Direct assignment, but can be used across company code). You can assign a business area to an org. object through the account assignment tab.
    Business areas are generally company-code independent. You can post to them from any company code. The Business area field shows up as an additional account assignment when posting to an account as long as the field is turned on in configuration. The field can be made a required entry during posting.
    If certain company codes are not active in specific business areas, you can use a validation to prevent postings to this business area from the company codes specified.
    Important Transactions, related to Business Area Configuration:
    OX03     Create Business Area
    OMJ7     assign Business Area to Plant / Valuation Area and Division
    OVF2     Org Unit: Sales Area - Business Area Determination rule

  • VBAK-GSBER - Business Area determination at header level

    Good morning,
    How can I populate the field VBAK-GSBER in transaction VA41, VA42? Even if I try to enter something manually there, it is blocked (as if it is always 'display only'). I´ve made all the steps in IMG> Enterprise Structure> Assignment> SD> Business Area Accounting Assignment and only the field COBL-GSBER (business area at item level) is filled automatically.

    Please go to IMG path assign the business area
    IMG>Enterprise structure>Assignment>Sales and Distribution>Business Area Account Assignment-->Define Rules By Sales Area(Rule 1)
    -->Assign Business Area To Plant And Division
    Also check in img->SD->basicfunctions--->account assignment and costing --->business area account assignment
    Mostly if you define in enterprise structure the values will flow down in SD basic functions
    But better to Check in both these places
    Check whether you have assigned the Business Area to your Plant and Item Division. Also check whether the Business Area is assigned to your sales area.
    If these assignment is proper here then the error will be eliminated 100 %
    Note the business area is determined by three rules
    1.Plant and Item division
    2.Sales area
    3.Sales org, dist channel and item division
    pls select rule 1
    Following are few important transactions, in close relation with Business Area:
    OX03 Create Business Area
    OMJ7 assign Business Area to Plant / Valuation Area and Division

  • Business area determination problem

    Dear Experts,
    From few days I am facing issue relating to business area determination and unable to get the solution, please kindly anybody give the solution.
    my client requirement is as follows.......
    there are 3 plants ex: A, B and C
    Bus Area Determination maintained is    Plant + Division =     Bus Area
                                                                                  A    + D1          =    1000
                                                               B(New Plant)     + D1          =    2000
                                                                                  C     + D1          =    1000
    My problem:
    Plant C is receiving the goods (same material having Div D1) from Plant A and B through STO , and despatches to depots through STO. Here (at Plant C) we want to identify the stock movement  values which received from A and B through Business Area ,
    ex: if at C goods received / issues which received from A need 1000 BA, as well as goods belongs to BA 2000.
    *as at plant C 'Plant and Div' same, so we are unable to get separate Bus Areas for A and B as per standard SAP,
    So, i need to Populate the Business area 2000 in material document(VL02N PGI), based on Storage location(as we are using new St.Loc for B related stock for inventory identification).
    we gone through feasibility of Enhancement, but unfortunately we couldnu2019t get any,
    *please suggest the solution either from standard SAP or enhancement, it would be very helpful and appreciable.

    In configuration, you can assign a business area to a plant and division combination or to a sales area.  There is also some additional configuration for cost centers where you can assign sales org, distribution channel, division along with an order reason code to a cost center and a business area. 
    The menu path in IMG is Sales and Distribution > Basic Functions > Account Assignment/Costing > Business Area Account Assignment or Assign Cost Centers.
