Question Style Issue

Hello All - I have maybe a tougher one for you.  There is a problem with a style, and I cant find where to fix it.  I have opened the Object Style Manager, and cant find a way to fix the problem in there.  I am thinking that the style I am trying to fix is based on another style, but I dont see any other style that is broken like this one is.  See the three images below.  Please help in how to get this style fixed. There is a carridge return in a quiz answer that I cant get rid of.

  • Paragraph style issue when opening imdl (CS5) file in CS4

Sending a CS5 file to a printer using CS4.  When they open the imdl file in CS4, it changes the paragraph style in the pull quotes. The initial character, whether a letter or a quote, appears tiny.  It looks like a paragraph style issue.  The 'quote' paragraph style in CS4 has a drop cap set on it.
Has anyone else had this problem or have a suggested fix? Certainly, we can check our files in CS4 before sending each time, but what a pain!

IDML is meant as an interchange format, and is far from "the same file but in another version".
If your printer wants a CS4 file, send them a CS4 file. Better yet, ask them why you have to send them native files anyway and what's their problem with a PDF?

  • Illustrator Shape / Graphics Styles issue (bug?)

When using the 'Split into Grid' command the resulting rectangles are defined as paths not shapes so that the live corners feature is not visible in the toolbar/transform palette.
Since starting to write this I've stumbled upon the fact that while holding the Ctrl key with the object selected the live corners become visible and editable directly either via dragging the mouse or when double-clicking the mouse on the radius point where as options window appears to allow exact settings - this is great. It would be better if the toolbar/transform palette also reflected these settings to see at a glance which values have been used or even better, the resultant output of the 'Split into Grid' was defined  as a rectangle in the first place.
Also, historically (CS5) I would save the rounded corner effect as a graphic style, I've noted that shapes with live corners set, do not copy those settings into the captured graphic style.
    Cheers!
    Rob

Learning on the fly here, I just noticed the Object > Shape menu where you can convert a shape to rectangle when then enables the live corners to be updated. Perhaps a check box could be added to the 'Split into Grid' to enable this to be done automatically?
The graphics styles issue still stands.

  • Generated Code - Setter Style Issue

Suggestion -- rather than generate setter code like this:
       public void setFacultyRowSet(JdbcRowSetXImpl jrsxi) {
            this.facultyRowSet = jrsxi;
        }Use this pattern:
      public void setFacultyRowSet(JdbcRowSetXImpl facultyRowSet ) {
            this.facultyRowSet = facultyRowSet;
}It's more than just a style issue. It's also an issue of clarity. When using code completion and jrsxi appears, it looks like a mistake. Having facultyRowSet appear instead is more comfortable looking because it reinforces what the setter is all about.

    Hello James,
I have noticed some strange looking variable names too in the generated code. Taking your suggestion into consideration I have filed an RFE for the same.
Thank you very much for the feed back. Please do continue to share your experiences and giving your feedback to us.
    Cheers :-)

  • Mapping styles issue

    Hi All
My name is Caryn Drovie.  I am a technical writer and i have used Robohelp HTML in the past but new to 9.0
I am having some issues I cannot resolve that I will try to explain but I  think if someone can use a program like "Show my PC" and look at my PC it will be quicker and easier to troubleshoot.  The project I am working on was a former writers and I am trying to modify and work with his c.s.s and styles and templates.  Here are my initial questions first:
    CSS
    1.  I first began to edit the default c.s.s and add styles - was that wrong?  Should I take those out?  I had changed to his new c.s.s he had created.
    2.  Should the styles I create and use map the styles in the c.s.s and in the write area in the c.s.s properties page.
    3.  What do I do with the styles in c.s.s I am currently not using but may use in future?
    Styles
    1.  I have lots of styles the previous writer created.  I have not used them all but I might in future, do I delete the styles not used?
    2.  I notice that when I am trying to map a style my style drop down info does not always match my style pod info and shows in gray shaded in drop down?
    3.  The client I am working from wants me to do the following, can it be done because it is not working for me?  They want me to create process steps. no table, and use 3 styles in a row.  First style is numbering, second is result paragraph and 3rd is screen shot.  But when I modified existing styles and apply the styles all detail moves and does not align properly.  I have tried to apply none style to clear styles and reapply but no matter what I do it does not work.  I do not want to type numbers directly or play with the indents.  My goal is following example lined up and spaced out nicely:
        1.  This is the first step
Result:   this is the result alwhere all lines are aligned
              Screen shot aligned
    Can you please help me?
    thanks

1] It is not wrong to edit the default.css but I do prefer not to. It is  perhaps better regarded as a clean css to base new css files on or  something to use as a yardstick when another css is giving you grief. If you are no longer using that css, perhaps best to leave it for now until these issues are resolved. You can always get a clean default.css from a new project.
2] I am not sure what you mean here.
3] Leave them or comment them out. /* just before the definition and */ at the end of it.

1] Isn't that the same question as 3 in the previous section.
2] Map a style where? A screenshot would help. Use the camera icon to insert.
3] You could set up a multi level list as described on my site where levels two and three have no bullet or numbering. Alternatively at the end of line one, press Shift Enter and the next line will align to the text, not quite what you want as there will be no indent but maybe that is acceptable.

  • RH 11 CSS Mapping Styles issue with Word 2013

    Hello members,
Any help will be much appreciated.
Platform: Win 7, RH 11, Word 2013 however, using an existing Word Template that was created in Word 2007.
    HISTORY:
Six months ago, an upgrade of RH8 to RH11 took place (smooth, no issues reported). Please note, I have no "easy" way to verify if there was a problem in RH8 (all projects are upgraded, and old builds are backed up on IT server).
There are existing Styles created in RH and in the Word Template (e.g., Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3, Normal, normal_bold, etc.). These existing Styles have no mapping issues hence, RH CSS recognizes their corresponding Word Styles.
    ISSUE:
RH11 CSS does not recognize New RH Styles and Word Styles.
NOTE: Styles are the same type. “For example, character to character, paragraph to paragraph, table to table, and multi-level list to multi-level list” (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/robohelp/robohtml/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d11aff59c2a0-7ee4.ht ml#WS21E2B5E4-C4AC-47b2-9D4B-D548EA9E3C04).
    Things Tried:
Converted (SaveAs) my template .dot (Word 2007) to ".dotm" (Word 2013) = No change in issue mentioned above.
What do I see when I create new Styles in RH CSS and Word Template: I am able to map Table and Multi Level List.
Purpose: Working on a documentation standard project. Creating New Styles ‘based on’ existing styles. For example:
    RH CSS
    ListBullet
    Style: Paragraph
    Formatting: Font =10pt
    Indents: Left = 36pt
    Spacing: Before = 0px
    Paragraph: Alignment = Left
    Indentation: Left = 18pt, Right = 0pt, Special = Hanging (By 18pt)
    Spacing: Before = 6pt, After = 0pt, Line Spacing = Single
    Advanced:
    Word Template (.dot)
    ListBullet
    Style: Paragraph
Style Properties: Name = ListBullet, Style type = Paragraph, Style based on = Normal, Style for following paragraph = ListBullet
Formatting: Font = Arial Font style = Regular, Size = 9pt, Font color = Automatic (black), Underline style = none
Paragraph/Indents & Spacing: Alignment = Left, Outline level = Body Text
    Indentation: Left = 0.25", Right = 0", Special = Hanging (By: 0.25")
Spacing: Before = 0pt, After = 6pt, Line Spacing = Single, Selected (Don't add space between paragraphs of the same style)
    Paragraph/Line & Page Breaks: Pagination = Window/Orphan control, Tight wrap = None
Bullet Format: Font = Symbol, Font style = Regular, Size = 9, Font color = no color
Problem I am having is as follows:
RH Wizard section - Print Document Appearance
Project’s CSS Styles (Used Only or All)
    ListBullet
    Microsoft Word Styles (all)
Unassigned – Use style in project) drop-down list
The Style “ListBullet” does NOT show in the list
NOTE: This anomaly I just reported happens for ANY new ‘Paragraph Style’ I create. If I create a List/MultiList, and the names of the Style are the same in RH and Word, RH Wizard automatically maps them. However, reading on multiple forums, authors have reported problems with Indentations (i.e., Word over extends the indentations); I have see this as well.
PS - Happy Holidays to you and your families. My Best, ~PM
PSS - Hi Peter ... I reviewed your site and this site, and Googled as well before posting.

Thank you Peter and Amebr for your assistance. I ended up using RH Multilevel List Style, configured, and created an identical List Style in Word. I created a Single and a Multilevel (e.g., Level = bullet, Level 2 = squares); their challenge is matching RH indents with Word Indents... It's sort of a bear since RH does not have the Format Paragraph option (ref. drop-down) like Word Lists -  Numbering functionality.
After generating my print document mu Bullet style reads "Normal (Web)"; even though the RH CSS Wizard recognized Word List Style I created (Ref. Font: Symbol, Font color: Black, Indent: Left: 0.15", Hanging: 0.25", Outline numbered + Level: 1 +, Numbering Style: Bullet + Aligned at: 0.15" + Indent at:  0.4", Priority: 100, Based on: No List.
Question: Would anyone out there know why is when I highlight my bullet list to verify the correct Style (with the Styles pane open) and I see the "Normal (Web)" [its Style type = Paragraph and Style based on = Normal) is selected? If it came through (from Rh) as a true Multilevel List Style, I should not see anything.
    Happy Holidays!

  • FAQ: How do I clear out my font cache to fix font style and duplicate font style issues?

We have a Script availabe for CS6 beta users who are experiencing particular font related issues.
This script will help by clearing the font cache and will test for corrupted fonts.
This will solve some of the type issues with duplicate font names and some of the other font errors.
This script is to help to find corrupted fonts. The script itself doesn’t solve the problem.
This script doesn’t solve duplicate font name, but clears out your font cach .  It it will solve some duplicate font style name issues such as the one  in the link below.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4306828#4306828
There is a pdf file explaining how to use the script and what it will do.
    See attached files.

Monica, I know the Normal Character Style in Illustrator must be defined. But my question is about the Normal Paragraph Style, not the Normal Character Style. As Larry just said, in most of my documents, and in my New Document Profiles, these fields in the Normal Paragraph Style are blank (undefined), so I know this is possible. In a few older documents I'm converting, the Normal Paragraph Style has a defunct font, and even though my Normal Character Style is correctly defined with the current font, it's creating some weird behavior.
Larry, it doesn't appear to be the document itself, it just appears to be not knowing what the right keystroke combo is to clear it. Just make a new file from a Document Profile where the Normal Paragraph Style does not define one of those font fields, define a font and/or font size, save, then reopen the paragraph style settings and try to clear any field that has been set. I can't clear it, I can only change the font.

  • Adobe Captivate 5 import caption style issue

    Hi dear all,
I use captivate 5, and so is my college. We try to make a base template to use and distribute to all that will work with us.
There are issues with setting standards in Captivate 5
    Problem no 1
One issue is that all changes made to caption styles are gone after you close and open your project again.
    a) Edit
    b) Object Style manager
    c) Change styles on e.g. default
    d) Press button "Apply"
    e) when done press button "OK"
    d) Save and close
    f) Open
    d) Enter Object Style manager = all styles are back to factory settings.
    Respons to predicted questions:
Yes we tried both opening Captivate 5 as an administrator and as a normal user.
Yes my account on the computer is the admin account
My college got the "Project-all-styles.cps" file I exported by choosing "all styles of all objects" and pressing export
This is done under Object Style Manager.
    Problem no 2
My college successfully imports the file "Project-all-styles.cps", by choosing the import function under the Object Style Manager
This results in one [Default Caption Style] that still is with factory settings and a new [Default Caption Style]_1 with my preferences are made.
    Problem no 3
The [Default Caption Style] can not be deleted, i want to remove the one called [Default Caption Style] and change name on [Default Caption Style]_1
    I want to remove _1
    Solution 1
Find a way in Captivate 5 to unlock the "change default lock" that seems to be there
    Solution 2
Enter the file that contains the default styles and change manually by typing by hand. I could not find th file for that. It does not seem to be an *.ini file containing that information.
I hope for good answers on these question.
    Best Regards // Daniel Perez

    Just make it easy
    1. Use an understandable language like when defining styles
When opening a *.cps document it looks like this
    And that is not good.
    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    $   < C a p t i v a t e S t y l e s / > •     ‰   ÷   Š     ‹     &#127;   “   Œ                   D   ~   ÷   “   &#141;       “   Ž       “   &#143;       “   &#144;       “   e   U   f   &#127;   j   m       n       k   g   l   h       i   6   [ D e f a u l t   R e v i e w   A r e a   S t y l e ] k   m       n       k   g       h       i   ~   k   g       h       i   ÿÿÿÿk   g       h       i   ÿÿÿÿk   m       n       k   g   Š   h       i   ^   k   m       n       k   m       n       k   m       n       k   g       h       i     k   g       h       i     k   g   ÿ   h       i     k   g   ï   h       i     k   m       n       k   m       n       k   m       n       k   g   /   h       i       k   g   ¶   h       i       k   g   ·   h       i       k   m
       n       k   m       n       k   l   ’       “   •     ‰   ‘'  Š     ‹     }   “   Œ                   D   |   ‘'  “   &#141;       7   “   Ž       7   “   &#143;       “   •     ‰   ë   Š     ‹     7   “   Œ
    2. Let the user choose within three options, and be able to change choice later.
    a. Embed the styles in the project
    b. Absolute-link to a folder, network folder or URL (with the URL it is easier to collaborate between individuals and also change styles centrally if needed)
    c. Relative-link to a file. (E.g. one homemade folder called styles that always are at the same level as the folder with the projects)
This makes it easier to move entire project to other computers.
    3. Have a button that says "default" then the issue of overwriting default is not an issue anymore.
    4. Do the same three steps with question pools, motions, and all other features that could be lifted out in their own files. (E.g. skin editor)
I think that it would make this tool a really really really tough competitor to beat.
Just to sell it in a bit more, if e.g. the question pools would be an easy understandable XML then it would be no match to export questions from old systems/PDF's or read in questions in paper form with an OCR and transform them to useful XML's
Best Regards and very hopeful for the future to come

  • Link styles issues

    Hello,
I have asked this question before, but nobody answered it.

And the other to the menu

What problem are you facing exactly with setting up the link style?

  • Font style issue with exporting report in Crystal Reports 2008

    Hi,
I got stuck on the below issue for a while. Please can anyone help on this?
When I designed and executed a report in Crystal Reports 2008 on my local PC, the font style and size used in charts were exactly what I was expecting.
However, after I exported the report to our BusinessObjects CMC and displayed it in InfoView, the font style and size in charts looked quite different from what they were in CrystalReports.
Any ideas of how to fix this issue?
    Thanks!
    BAI

    Hi Nanda Kishore,
This is because you do not have proper rights on Business View Manager.  Whenever you create a dynamic parameter in crystal and try to save the report on BO, it creates a Business view automatically.  Now in your case, it is unable to create a business view due to insufficient rights.
Go in Business View Manager u2013 Repository exploreru2014You will find Dynamic Cascading Prompts folderu2014Right click on that and go in rights and add your user information and give full rights.
Also make sure that your BO and CR designer on same version and patch level.
    Thanks,
    Sastry

  • Table of Contents Style Issue

I am a new user of InDesign 5 and am working with a Table of Contents that was prepared for me in my office.  I have updated my text and inserted a few pages into my document and now have some odd formatting showing up in the TOC.  I have deleted my text, added it back in, applied different styles and checked to be sure that I don't have any overrides applied.  The issue is that the leader (....) seems not to be showing up for about 1/4 of my TOC entries.  Any help would be appreciated.
Grainy (sorry) Image below (note items: Filter 4, Import 11, Export 21 as examples)
    Thanks!

    jclarke2,
You got verify all the styles envolved.
    Try first verify this:
For each style included has to be similar like this example. The "entry style" can't be "[Same style]" like on the pic. You have to create one style and verify if don't have any tag besides the leader.
    Good luck!

  • JDBC/ code Style issue

Hi all I am working on a java web application, and in one area of my code I am copying parts of one table to another. The issue is there is 20 fields that I am copying at once. I am using a preparedStatement to set each of the values individually, but it is obviously making the method quite long. I was wondering if there are any fairly painless manners in which to reduce the size of this, or if others have run into this and just left it as is.
    thanks in advance.

    It depends.
One thing though when you say copying data I would do
that all in SQL anyway. Something like
INSERT INTO target_table(columns) SELECT columns FROM
    source_table WHERE ...
Syntx varies upon database.Great idea. I will look into it once I have things working. I'd rather not introduce another point of confusion before I see results. Unfortunately the DB in question doesn't have a huge following/ huge amount of information that I have found as of yet.

  • Upgrading questions and issues

We are trying to move from Headstart version label of 18 in the current 6i repository. I think it is 6.5 or something like that. We are trying to move to Headstart version 6.5.3.2. We currently are using Headstart in our 6i Repository. To do this we have taken a RAU export from the 6i database (named ecsd) and imported into a new database (named repos1). The database repos1 is to be the 9i repository.
It seems this repository has been through at least one version of Headstart before this. In the Edit workspace it says there is a version 1.0 excluded from the workarea.
I am constrained to remove the older HeadStart objects by management. I cannot simply exclude the application from the workarea. Is this OK to do?
When I follow the Installation Instructions for installing Headstart 6.5.3.0 I really am not finding a section that deals with upgrading a repository to a newer version of Headstart or removing a version of Headstart. Is there a document on this subject? Are there any words of advice for me?
It seems to me that to references the newly installed Headstart objects what is required is to Edit Generator Preference then to set the Preference Set to the new Headstart which seems to be QMS65_RECOMMENDED. Is this correct?
    Thanks

  • LAYOUT QUESTIONS - CSS ISSUES

I am trying to center the three middle divs (the one with the three tabs and purple text, the one that says rotating images and the black nav - these are 3 separate divs) of the attached page so there is a green border on just the sides with white at the bottom below the footer (and ideally white in the sides of the top blue nav). I tried creating a wrapper, but it dos not cause anything to center. I centered the top blue nav bar with auto margins left and right. Layout/Formatting Questions:
    1) How do I center this so there is a green "background" only on eitehr side of this "center" section of the page?
    2) how do I ensure the black navigation div Icreated always falls as pictured here and that is rests on topp of the footer, with no green in between? (sometimes it moves to the right of the div above it)
    3) How can I right justify just the Email and Facebook icons - I can't get them to move to the right?

To centre the 3 divs under the navigation you'll need to first delete the left margin of 100px set on the 'mainContent' <div> css.
Then you'll need to wrap all three <divs> in another <div></div> and set its width to the same width as the navigation <div> - 860px and use  margin: 0 auto; on the wrapper <div>. Then you can adjust the widths of the 3 <divs> inside it.
Trying to get a web page that balances up with equal length columns is a pointless exercise. You need to design taking into account that the web is not a 'fixed' medium such as a desk top publishing package. There may be some javascript methods which you might be able to resort to such as 'equal length columns' over at the Project Seven website (that's if they have that extention still available for download. I don't know have'nt been there for a while)
Wrap your address in its own <div> and float it left and then wrap your icons in their own <div> and float them right (inline css stylng is shown below)
    <div style="float: left; width: 400px;"> <img src="images/JAHMA-footer-logo.jpg" width="100" alt="logo" />P.O. Box 4 &#8226; Riverton, NJ 0807 &#8226; 856-786-9590 &#8226; Fax 856-786-6265</div>
