Question to Exim mantainer and Exim users

Question to mantainer:
Now, in 'current' Exim compiled without mysql and postgresql support. And have version 4.64, while current version of Exim is 4.66
Quite often Exim is used with some database and SpamAssassin uses database for AWL and Bayes, and pop3/imap-server (Dovecot in 'testing' built with database support) uses same as Exim, plus SquirrelMail
It's not hard to rebuild Exim with abs, but maybe it will useful to have in 'current' Exim with database support?
And there are libmysqlclient and postgresql-libs alreade present in 'current'.
Question to Exim users:
Did you use rebuit Exim with database support or use dbm/passwd?
If you rebuid Exim with ABS, how you avoid replacing it with new version from repo? Change package name on something like 'exim-custom'?

A Question To Mac,Photoshop, And Comcast Users

I am a Mac user and an artist. Also, I have Comcast internet. I am planning to buy Photoshop CS4 maybe this year. Before I buy it, I would like to download the trial version to see how well it can run on my Mac G5. My worry is that the file is pretty huge (1.0GB). If I download the trial Photoshop CS4, will it have an affect on Comcast bandwidth? You all know the story about Comcast capping bandwidth and such.

And I agree with Marian, just above. You should have no grief from Comcast about grabbing the trial...or even several trials of different apps.
I'm not a HUGE user of Comcast D/L bandwidth, but certainly there are some months where I've grabbed upwards of 10 GB's worth of live audio material from Archive.org and similar places, and I haven't heard a peep from them.
But I don't do any P2P sharing via BitTorrent, so my usage is simply to grab and quit.
Go get the CS4 demo(s) and have fun!

Question on icloud and creating users

I have noticed that my Macbook Pro will create its own user. I immediately deleted this user since I didn't create it and thought it was taken care of. Well, I turned on my computer again today and the user was created again, without my consent. My initial reaction is to think that this is a virus but I started using iCloud recently to share photos with my family and thought maybe using iCloud will create a user for some reason. This hasn't happened before in the 4 years I have owned the Macbook Pro. I updated to Mavericks so maybe something finally came through in the update. I really have no idea what is going on. All I am used to seeing when I turn on my computer is the administrator (me) and another user I created. Now there is a third user that has been created all by itself. Has anyone encountered this before? Any help would be appreciated!! Basically, I am stressed out because now I think I have a virus.

The Guest account is built-in. It has probably been activated again by a recent system update. Updates will sometimes reset the preference settings to default values. But I would keep the Guest Account active. This account cannot be used by remote users. And it is a nice honey pot, if you ever lose your Mac. If the thief will log in using the guest account, you can detect this with Find My Mac.
guest user: Guest users can use your computer temporarily without you having to add them as individual users. You can set restrictions guests can access only the items you want to share. Files created by a guest are stored in a temporary folder, but this folder and its contents are deleted when the guest logs out. Simple OAM questions (I think): Possible to delete users and groups?

Hi,
I was wondering if, using the OAM admin, is it possible to delete a user?
Same question regarding a group?
For users, it seems like I can deactivate a user, but can't delete using the OAM admin?

Deleting User:
1. Create a "Deactivate User" work flow to deactivate the user account.
2. Locate the deactivated user account from "Deactivated User Identity" link in User Manager.
3. Select the user account you want to delete, click the Delete button to delete.
Deleting Group:
1. Create a "Delete Group" workflow in the workflow definition. Step1: Initial - Specifiy who can initialize the process; Step 2: Commit - commit the action.
2. In the group information panel, click the Delete button to delete the group.

Hello, I have iMac from Oct, 2010 and have OS 10.6.7 and multiple users. Mail icon was accidently removed along with program. Mail 4.4 is on other users but when I reloaded software my user got Mail 4.3. Mail 4.3 did not work with latest OS. Ideas?Matt

Hello, I have iMac Itel i3, from Oct, 2010 and have OS 10.6.7 and multiple users.
About 3-4 days ago the Mail icon in dock had question mark and was accidently removed, along with program on my user. Oops.
1. Mail 4.4 is on other users and works fine, but for me it does not work and tells me V4.3 does not work with latest OS X.
2. I reloaded software from my user with original disks (Oct, 2010) and got Mail 4.3 again. Mail 4.3 did not work with latest OS. I am unable to load Mail. Gives Yellow error message.
" You have Mail version 4.3 (1081/1084). It can’t be used on Mac OS X Version 10.6.7 (Build 10J869). For more information, click the Help button."
3. Tried to update software and look for update for mail 4.3 on Apple site to no success.
Hate to go to MS-Entorage ( I may need to learn something new and alien) mail program since contracts are in Mail/Address Book.
Ideas?

SharePoint 2013 - What are all requirement components for People Pickers to list, search, display, and assign users permission

Hi All
the past few months, I have been working with permission issues related to SharePoint 2013 site permission settings using People Pickers to list, search, display users to assign or check permission.
Our environment include multiple domains and few forests. Our SharePoint farm is installed on one domain but the good thing is our AD structure are configured to have all other domains and forests with 2 ways trusts with this domain so domain
users are authenticated and can access SharePoint just fine. Also SharePoint use default claim authentication.
The problem is People Picker is not display all domains user accounts when site owners need to assign permission. So to resolve the problem, I had provisioned
SA - User profile service and Import AD domain user accounts (one way) into Sharepoint.
I configured stsadm.exe -o setproperty -pn peoplepicker-searchadforests -pv
for all domains and forests (eventhough, as mentioned we do have 2 ways trust)
and sometime tried different query (user last name, domain\logonname, email address) if one is not showing.
With all that added, People Pickers seem to find and display user account for all domains now.
My question now is do UPS and all AD domains users need to be imported into SharePoint and STSadm configuration are required in order to have all domains user accounts to display in People Pickers so the site owners can
find them and assign permission when needed?
Please share your advices, comments as they are really valuable to me.

UPS and people pickers are virtually unrelated. The only connection between them is to do with caching and updating user names and emails if they change over time, or in other words not relevant to your situation.
To answer your question directly; Nope, you do not need to set up synchronisation connections to a domain to be able to pick up a person in a people picker. As you've seen you may need to run some STSADM commands to make sure they are checking the right
places.

Question on App Process and Java script performance

I have quick question regarding performance of Application process and Javascript.
I'm having OnDemand Application process, which fetches data from db and thru javascript
in page, i'm invoking the application process.
My question is :
If I did not render a page say for 10 mins, and i'm changing field values in my tab report.
Consider i'm having a huge record in my tab report and changing certain updatable column value for all records.
Once i finsished updating the field value (before hitting submit). The same field might have been updated by someother user.
If i render the page, Would it shows data as per current session value or data same as 10 mins before?
Bit confused on this.
Your views on this would be highly appreciated!!

I'm not sure this is related to performance. I think this is more of a lost update question. If you're using a standard Tabular Form, APEX will check the value of that data in the database to see if it's changed since you opened it. If so, it means someone else edited the data then saved it since you opened the page. APEX will return an error. At that point, the user would have to reload the whole page. If you expect collisions and the fields are big enough that it will take a person a long time to edit, I would strongly suggest NOT using Tabular Forms. If you're only editing one row at a time, the chance of collision between you and another users is substantially less than if you were both editing 15 rows at a time. Also, if there is a collision, you only have to reload one record, not a whole set of them.

I have more then 50 very important tables and around 15 database users.
I want to implement fine grained auditing on these important tables.

object_schema - The schema of the object to be audited. (If NULL, the current log-on user schema is assumed.)
in case if you like to audit for multiple users - then try to test by holding a null value and test access the important tables -where the relevant auditing records are generated as per your requirement or not. i have not tested.. try it

Does anyone know why the mcxquery and the dscl . -mcxread commands don't show any info about MCX managed login items & printers? The System Profiler's "Managed Client" section does. Id like to see info regarding managed printers and managed login items using the mcx tools. I have Mac users running 10.5.2 with both login items and printers that are pushed out to them via MCX. The System Profiler app shows all of their policies, but the dscl . -mcxread and mcxquery tools dont. Why not?

How do you "call procedures/functions" without sql code? You need at least the call statement like
{call myProc(?,?,?)}that you wrap into a CallableStatement.
Other than that: when you switch off autocommit, you need to call commit/rollback at the end. Usually, if you don't commit/rollback a non-autocommitted connection, the transaction get's committed/rollbacked when you close the connection - that depends on the JDBC driver. But it's never a good idea to ommit the commit/rollback calls on a non-autocommit connection. Usually you enclose your code in a try/catch block like this:
con.setAutocommit(false);

   con.commit();
} catch (Exception e) {
   con.rollback();
} finally {
    con.setAutocommit(true); //or:
    con.close();

ThinkVantage Access Connections and Limited User Account (LUA) on XP SP3

Is it really so that one has to be logged on with at least Power User privileges to get the Access Connections utility working properly with 3G/HSDPA? When logging on as a Limited User, the computer can find all the cell phone operators nearby but does not let to do a connect. But when logged on as a Power User, all problems go away.
I would not like to bump up my user privileges from Limited User to Power User, since all else seems to work fine with a Limited User Account. Any ideas about what is going wrong -- or did I just hit into a wall here?
The environment in question is Thinkpad X200 and XP SP3. Access Connections and the HSDPA driver are the latest ones I could find from the Lenovo driver download site (Access Connections v. 5.21, Ericsson HSDPA driver v. 1.0.1046.221).
Would there be any other way to use 3G connections than to use the Access Connections utility (without changing to another o/s)?

Error Logging and notifying users regarding the errors

we are designing a workflow in which if any user comes across an error (at any branch or while executing an action) must be alerted with the error and must send a notification to the admin that the process has stalled at that particular part of the workflow due to some error.
my doubts are
1.how can we notify the admin and the initiator of the workflow regarding the error a particular user gets.i saw in adminui that there are two tabs for the admin to view the stalled actions/stalled branches.but the admin and the user needs to be notified with an alert or email that a particular action has been stalled.
i think i conveyed my problem in a correct manner.if its confusing then plz tell me coz i am already confused in this..

In the workflow which we are designing,a service request from filled by the user will be routed to the particular approver and he inturn will approve/reject the form accordingly.once he approves,the form is routed to the service provider who will fulfill the service requested and approved.
1.Now,for instance suppose that the workflow gets stalled while the form is with the approver.my question is how to notify the user that the service he requested is delayed due to the stalling of the process in between as well as the admin alerting him with the error which stalled the workflow process.
2.you said that it is easy to setup an email address within the adminui..but i dont know how to do that as i am a beginner.

Question about setting cookies and custom authentication

I have a question about setting cookies.
I have two different 'projects' in HTMLDB - we will call them App1 and App2.
I also have two different connection configurations setup in the DADs.conf file. - we will call them Connect1 and Connect2.
App1 is setup to use database authentication (no user is specified in the DAD) and uses Connect1. Once the user successfully logs in, we set a username cookie (this is a persistent connection).
We created a custom authenticatoin scheme for App2 - this scheme checks for the username cookie (set by App1). We would like for App2 to use Connect2 (HTMLDB_PUBLIC_USER is the default user specified and it uses connection pooling).
Is it possible to set a cookie from App1, Connect1 for App2, Connect2 - then redirect to App2 and pick up that cookie?
Here is an example of what we are trying to accomplish:
A user loggs into App1, we set a cookie, and the user is redirected to App2. If the cookie exists, we allow them access to the home page in App2, if no cookie, we redirect back to a 'Login Failed' page in App1. We don't want App2 to use the same database connection as App1 though, we need App2 to use connection pooling.
Is this possible? OR...Is there a better way to accomplish what we want to do?
This is an enhancement to an existing app. Our requirements are to use Database Authentication (setup where pass expires after 60 days or so, cannot reuse last 3 passwords, etc.) - which is already setup and being used by other applications in our organization. All of our users have accounts in the database. We don't want users to have a new username/pass - and we don't want to manage a separate group for HTMLDB apps.
The existing application uses HTMLDB's built in authentication - which uses database username/pass, and it uses connection pooling, but we cannot handle the pass expire stuff in it, unless there's something we're not seeing or understanding - at least that's how our DBA explained it to us.
Any help with this will be appreciated so much. I can send you the code we have if needed.

How to export for both windows and mac users

I'm new to the video stuff, so i have a few questions. i am planning to post videos on my blog. I want to have them in a format that both windows and mac users can play. is this a possibility or will i have to export .wmv for windows and quicktime for mac? i realize that windows users can download quicktime, but i either want the video to be viewable in a format that can be read by all without having to download anything (might be too big a wish :o) ). if i can't do that, then i'd like to have 2 links - one for quicktime and one to the .wmv. in this case, how to i export a .wmv file? i don't see that option anywhere on the share menu? do i need to buy quicktime pro? that leads me to another questions - if i have imovie, do i need quicktime pro? so far i'm having a hard time figuring out what quicktime pro has that imovie doesn't....thanks in advance!

Posting to YouTube and providing a URL link might be the most universal method of playback although quality may be on the weak side.

WMV is a proprietary compression format. You will either have to purchase the authorized QT components from Flip4Mac or purchase a separate open source converter application like Visual Hub.

Any you won't even if you purchase and install the QT component -- iMovie '08 only exports to QT compression formats.

It wouldn't help. Getting QT Pro only unlocks editing and conversion features. It does not add any additional codecs which don't already have installed.

As indicated above, QT Pro allows you to convert to/from any compression formats for which you have working import/export QT components. This can already be be done using GarageBand and iMovie. GarageBand allows you to access any installed QT import/export component while iMovie '08 restricts you to Apple QT components. In addition, QT Pro allows you to create player displays with multiple audio/video tracks, gives you ability to layer graphic elements (e.g, create watermarks, create pictures-within-pictures, etc,), allow the viewer to switch between alternate audio and/or video tracks, and may other things.
ADDED: If you really want to see what QT Pro can do, check out QTKirk's examples on his DotMac account.
