Question to RME4.0.4 LMS 2.5
Hi,
i have a problem with the RME Archive Management. In the Archive Management is the Search Archive and her is my question. In the Search Archive it have Version ==> Latest and when i search the devices then the other version of the device ar also in my search. Why? I would like only search in the latest version of my configfiles.
regards,
Murat
LMS 2.5.1 is close to being end of support (June of this year). I highly suggest you upgrade to LMS 2.6 which can be freely downloaded from Cisco.com at http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/lms26 . I tested with RME 4.0.6, and I cannot reproduce the behavior you are seeing. If I check the Latest radio button, I only see one configuration per device which matches a given search string.

How to display the descriptions of a "question" and "answers" in the LMS?
Hello, evevyone,
I am new comer in Captivate 5.
In order to analysis the result of "Learner response", we need known the “Question” and “Answer” description of each Quiz in a SCORM player.
Does Captivate return these information back to LMS?
For example :
I have created a quiz with one question.
Do you have a dog? ------->Question description
(A)Yes ----->Learner response
(B)No
After complete the quiz on LMS, Captivate will return the "Do you have a dog?" and "(A)Yes" back to LMS ?Dear RodWard,
I am trying anohter LMS named SCORM Cloud.
The question description does not return to LMS.
You can see the Message Log:

Backup/restore questions LMS 4.2
Hello,
I have several questions regarding data migration from LMS 3.2.1 to LMS 4.2.We will perform backup and restore procedure on new LMS4.2 server machine .
1. I am wondering what will happen with admin password aftrer restore, and all the other passwords in LMS. What will be effective? What will happen with database passwords?
2. Other thing is : LMS 3.2.1 is installed on D:\ProgramFiles\CSCOpx and the new LMS 4.2.1 is installed in D:\CSCOpx
Will there be problems during restore, because the paths on old and new LMS server are not the same?
3. When to perform the licensing? Should I apply license before restore? I think I would have to apply it before beacause customer has 300 devices and eval license iz for 100 only.
4. Does PI_CM license - Compliance Management License comes with the product? How do we get this license? I am aware that this CAAM is new feature in 4.2 version so I am not sure does the customer have rights on it. They have bought upgrade from 3.2 to 4.1 and they have valid support contract so we will go to 4.2 version.
Thanks!
MarijaFollowing are the answers :
1. LMS's user info and passwords are stored in cwpass file under NMSROOT\lib\classpath\com\cisco\nm\cmf\servlet, which is also
backed up with DB backup. Hence restore would bring all previous user names and passwords.
2. Ciscoworks has a mechanism which doesn't bothers the install directory. It sets environment variable as NMSROOT which is replaced by
the install directory and hence there should not be any issue. Please note that Inter-OS resotre are not supported.
3. You can apply the license anytime, but it is good to install it before backup restore, else the excess of devices, more than 100
will go to unmanaged state and will have to be brought back to managed state once lic is applied.
4. CAAM lic has to be purchased separately. You can contact lic. team or your accounts team for this.Till that time you can use it with its 60 days eval lic.

LMS to PI1.2 migration question
Hello,
I want to ask 3 questions about data migration from LMS to PI1.2 as the virtual marketing synonym for the real existing product NCS1.2:
1. Is there a real working and relyable data migration from LMS to PI1.2(NCS)?
2. What is the minimum LMS version supported for data migration into NCS?
3. Where is the data migration procedure documented?
thx for answers,
SteffenThere is no migration. NCS and LSM don't have anything in common.
A conversion of the DCR export into a format NCS can import is all I expect
In January a version of NCS/PI should become available that has most functionality (that cisco feels is important), that is similar to that of LMS but in its own (surrely different/perhaps better) way.
I have no idea what to expect yet. I just hope for the best.
Cheers,

Error in communicating with IPMProcess or IpmDbEngine, LMS 3.2
Hello,
I have been searching for an answer to this error in this forum but did not find useful answer for the question i have.
Running LMS 3.2. At the process lists IPMProcess and IPMOGSServer, it says "Administrator has shut down this process". Starting the processes manually did not help neither. To restart Daemon manager did not help. I have attached the ipmserver.log file hoping someone can help me.The ipmprocess.log file is empty.
Thanks in advance. Thanks for the reply. I will look for it. Before I can do that I think there is another issue in server information in LMS when running self-test.
Please see the information under. Is this a database or server crash issue? Thanks again.

Going back in tutorial renders unanswered question slides void
Hi, I have looked through the last few months of questions and don't see exactly my issue.
I have a Captivate 4 project that is linear and has questions (no scores reported to LMS) throughout to reinforce learning.
When a learner gets to a quiz item in the series and wants to jump back to an earlier content slide (using TOC or back arrow on Nav bar--I don't have back arrow on Question slide itself.) they can't return to the question and take it. The question appears to be locked up and they get the error message below. This is a question they never tried.
I don't put a back button on the question because I don't like to encourage that, but I do have on the Quiz settings to "Allow backward movement". If that will fix the problem, then I'll add that button. Just wondering if there is another setting I can change.
The question settings are:Yes, I had to do something, so I changed the number of attempts to unlimited. That did fix the problem. Guess if we aren't scoring the items, we need them guess as many times as they like. This automatically resets the question for reentry from anyplace.
Thanks. -
Elearning suite to Learning Management System (LMS) - how-to from an InDesign file?
We need to be able to export InDesign files to a portable SCORM format that could be loaded into various Learning Management Systems (LMS) – however, it is not obvious how we would do this? We need to publish our documents both in a book\PDF format and to various LMS systems such as Blackboard, Moodle, Angel, Desire2Learn, etc.
What am I trying to accomplish? Many of our College and University clients use Learning Management Systems (LMS). SCORM is a standardized interchange format used to provide internet ready information (e-book data, test questions, etc.) to any LMS systems. We need to export formatted InDesign documents – which for us are our Lab Manual (book) publications which include: text, graphics, pictures, etc.
Adobe advertises SCORM compatibility as part of its e-learning suite: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/elearningsuite/els/extensions/WSD40882CF-6 C5C-46c0-8D51-273830EB036B.html --- however, I cannot find anyone who can tell me how to get there from InDesign.
In addition, I find it very frustrating that after many calls to Adobe sales and technical staff that I can't find anyone who can help me with the details of how to get from InDesign to Adobe's "SCORM Packager" See: http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2009/01/scorm_packager.html which I believe is a part of the e-learning suite.
Is it possible to find a high level technical resource within Adobe that I could talk to who could help me with this issue --- we need to test the ability to produce SCORM compatible files from our InDesign files before we can make a purchase decision.Adobe's Multi SCORM Packaging tool is designed to take existing single SCORM packages (in zip file format) and merge them into a multi SCORM package with a rewritten imsmanifest.xml file at the root level to tell the LMS what the package contains. This allows the LMS to build the array of links that its SCORM player requires to allow the course user to navigate from one module to another.
So if InDesign is not currently capable of creating even a single SCO SCORM package, the Adobe Multi-SCORM Packaging tool is not going to be much use to you.
In reality, the Adobe tool is quite limited in functionality. It's more designed as an add-on for Captivate to allow multi-SCORM courses to be created. Your best bet would probably be to investigate other SCORM packaging tools such as RELOAD that allow you to take content created elsewhere and add them to a SCORM package as resources.
You may need to export your InDesign content as PDF files and have these set up as individual resources or assets in the SCORM package.
However, for any of this to work with an LMS is going to require the final package to have a SCORM API (done with JavaScript) so that user interaction with the individual components of the course is relayed back to the LMS via JavaScript variables. Packaging tools such as RELOAD may be able to do this with some types of content (e.g. HTML) but I don't know if InDesign output is going to be compatible with this approach.
Have you designed your InDesign course content with interactivity in mind, or is it just straight content delivered in a documentation format? -
Passing variables from course to LMS
Hi everybody,
I have an Captivate 7 project where learners will be going through a quiz. At the end, I want to send them back through the quiz if they don't score 100%. When they finally score 100%, the activity can be closed and marked complete in the LMS (SumTotal). Here's the challenge: When they go through the quiz again, the score is reset and the score that will be sent to the LMS will be 100% and this will be displayed in the learner's transcript (happy learner). I would like to be able to see what their score was after the first time through the quiz so I can guage the effectiveness of my course. I can set a variable (ie. var_initScore) equal to the value of cpQuizInfoPointsscored the first time through and make it so it doesn't change the second time through. So, there are two questions:
Can I pass my variable to my LMS? or
Is there some system variable I can pass data to that is passed back to the LMS?
Thanks
DaveThe answer to your question depends mostly on the LMS. Some LMS's allow to store results of different attempts, some allow to send variables, but not all.
Did you try using the A3C widget for analyzing the effectiveness?
BTW most system variables are read only, which is certainly the case for the quizzing system variables. You can grab a copy of a descriptive list with system variables in this post. Only two variables were added in CP7: a variable to show the present date in European format cpInfoDateStringDDMMYYYY and the formerly missing system variable cpQuizInfoTotalUnansweredQuestions.

LMS 3.2 adding an 881w router
Hello,
I have an 881w router and I have a question about adding it to LMS. Do I add the router and AP separately or just add the router? Will LMS be able to manage the IOS on both devices?
ThanksIf you are adding devices manually, there is no need for a seed device. The whole purpose of seed devices is to use it as staging for discovering neighboring devices.
There is a great document written on the CSDiscovery process in LMS by Joe.

Hello community,
I have the following question. We are running LMS 3.0.1 and RME 4.1.1.
We want in case of an emergency to download configuration to some routers, but we want the job to be already created and to just run on demand!
I know that I can have pre-configured the group with the devices that I want, created a template with the configuration to be downloaded, but in order to run the job, the noc team must enter RME --> Netconfig and create the job at that very instant!
Is there a way to overcome this, and have the job pre-created, so that the noc team just has to run it?
Thanks in advance,
KaterinaNot in the UI. However, you can do this with the cwcli CLI command. You could use the cwcli servlet interface to execute your job:
http://SERVER:PORT/rme/cwcli?command=cwcli netconfig createjob -u USER -p BASE64_PASS -devicefile DEVFILE -commandfile COMFILE -description "My Netconfig job" -mode config
Where USER is your LMS username, BASE64_PASS is your user's password encoded in Base64, DEVFILE is a file holding the device names and COMFILE is the file with the commands you wish to execute. These files must reside on the server. See https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-14502 for more on the devicefile and commandfile formats. -
CiscoWorks Monitoring at High Level
I have 2 questions.
1) Is Ciscoworks LMS 3.2 able to display status of all the switches under a stack beside seeing the bayface view using Cisco View.
2) From the CM, I am able to create group. However, is it possible to see the network topology view of how each group is connected to each other and if there's an alarm for a switch under the group, you can see perhaps a red colour group icon.1. Yes, LMS (DFM) can report traps about stack status from the CISCO-STACKWISE-MIB. RME's detailed device and chassis reports can show the
separate chassis in a stack.
2. No, the groups are not linked in the topology view. You can view groups as clouds, but there are no interconnections shown. The events are not perpetuated to the clouds. -
Control lesson re-entry behavior?
I have a question that might be more LMS related, but I
thought I’d post it on a Captivate forum since I am using
Captivate to for the content end of my project. In a nutshell, my
client wants to use a captivate lesson as both a lesson and as
reference material.
Right now, when I create a Captivate project and publish it
the behavior of the project is as follows:
1. User enters lesson and begins encountering slides.
2. If the user leaves the lesson early the LMS marks the
lesson as “incomplete”.
a. Captivate bookmarking brings them to where they left off
when they re-enter the lesson.
3. If the user successfully finishes the lesson, the LMS
marks them as “complete” (or if it is a quiz, they
might have a score).
a. If the user re-enters the "complete" lesson Captivate
(bookmarking, I think) immediately takes them to the end of the
lesson.
I want the user to instead go to the beginning of the lesson
if they re-enter the lesson a second (or third) time, so that they
can review the lesson. I want the LMS to keep the highest score, or
at least not over write the previous score.
I can set Captivate to “Never send resume data”.
This allows the user to re-enter a previously completed lesson at
the beginning of that lesson. Unfortunately, it also resets the LMS
complete/incomplete score data. A previously completed lesson could
be re-marked as “incomplete” or a previously
“passed” lesson might be remarked as
“failed”. This is not the desired behavior.
Ideally, the user would be able to re-enter the lesson, begin
at the beginning again, keep the highest score they achieved
previously and be able to use the “lesson” as reference
material.
I have seen this done with pure Flash, but I'd like to be
able to do it in Captivate.
Has anyone been able to do such a thing using Captivate? Any
ideas?
Thank you,
TPKWhether the LMS overwrites the previous score with a
subsequent score is
up to how the LMS behaves. Some may offer you an option to
change this
behavior?
With the LMS I use, it will overwrite the previous score if
the lesson
is not yet completed/passed, if the new score is higher than
the old one.
If the lesson is completed/passed, then that score is never
overwritten.
As for Captivate's resume feature, the only way I know of
getting users
back to the beginning once they resume a completed course is
to put a
button on that last page that says something like "Restart
this lesson".
The user clicks it and the CP file navigates back to the
beginning slide
but (I don't think) resets any of the quiz data.
Unfortunately, afaik, CP does not allow you to say "bookmark
this users
location, unless they've completed the lesson, in which case
send them
back to the beginning". You have to do that yourself with the
last-page
button workaround mentioned above.

I have a 10 question survey that has been running fine and providing accurate responses in reports generated from my LMS. I made a property change to a multiple response type question that is now causing the reports to show a date/time (2003-01-01 18:00:00) response instead of the actual multiple responses the user made. The change I made to the question was to change the "Numbers property from" [ a), b), c) ] to [ 1), 2), 3) ]. This property change did not affect the reported responses for the single response questions, only the multi-response. This problem occured Using Captivate 4. I then tried using the same properties in Captivate 5.5 thinking it was a bug in CP4, but got the same results. Has anyone else run into this issue? I'm going to bring this to the attention of my LMS provider, but want to make sure CP is clean first.
Thanks,
DaveFirst things first. I am not an LMS expert, so this is not about troubleshooting.
However, to ensure that your course works fine on a SCORM-compliant LMS, you can upload it to cloud.scorm.com and test it out. If the course works fine there, rest assured that it will work fine on any SCORM-compliant LMS. If your LMS team comes back with an issue after this, you can counter them with this evidence that the problem is with the LMS and not your course.

How do I identify Presenter Questions in a LMS report?
Hi,
We've put together 25 questions in Presenter and set it up to report from our LMS (e2train).
We need to know what users answer for each of the questions and can pull off a report that shows the results ok.
The problem is that we have no identifier for the 25 questions.
For each user the report shows the following columns:
Description (blank for all 25 qs);
Type (q type),
Learner Response (What they selected);
Result (correct or incorrect).
How do I get Presenter to identify each question?Hi,
Can you display what code you used for this? I followed note 172045.1 and everything compiles properly but when I run the report, I just get a box with a red X in it, like it is not finding the picture. I ran the procedure that downloads the image and it works fine from there. Thanks. -
Captivate 5 question and answer data not showing up in Connect 8 LMS
I'm using Captivate 5 and Adobe Connect 8 for an LMS. I can publish lessons and quizzes directly into Connect with no problem. Taking the quizzes works fine. I have a problem with the reporting of quizzes. The scores are correct but I often don't get all of the questions listed when I look at the reports. A 10 question quiz might show 1 question and answer. Again, the score reflects 10 questions answered but when viewing the report "By Question" only one question shows. I cannot see any settings that are different on the visible question. Has anybody else seen this?
Message was edited by: GBaylFor what it's worth I think I solved my own problem. The quizzes that were messed up were all udated from Captivate 4. This made all of the Interation IDs the same for all of the questions on each quiz. The IDs must be unique for the system to report results from each question. If you try to change an ID, the rest of the question IDs change also. To change the IDs so they will all be unique, select all of the questions in a quiz and enter CNTRL-D to duplicate them. It doesn't matter if they are in a pool or in the main project. Then deleted the originals. The new questions will all have new and unique IDs. I don't know why this works but it does. I hope someone finds this useful.
