Queue overflow errors in tag engine.

I was testing the 310 tags in my tag database using the interactive server tester, when I encountered the queue overflow error. I am storing and retrieving values in a Allen Bradley SLC 5/04 PLC module. I am using RSLinx as an OPC server. I tried increasing the queue, but still ended up with the error. How will a queue overflow effect the performance of the tag engine and are there ways to better pinpoint the problem?
Thanks,
Mike Thomson

• Historical Logging Queue Overflow

Generating an error "Historical Logging Queue Overflow" Error Code -1967390689. At this time my data logger turns off, no longer allowing me to log data. My input and output queues sizes are roughly 20,000 and my buffer size is 30,000. Possible errors? My database is not very big, I have only run this file for a little over 24hrs. I have not had time to accumulate much data.

What are the deadband settings that you are using on the objects you are logging? It appears that the values may be changing so rapidly, that an overflow is occurring before the data can actually be written to the database. You may want to check out the following KnowledgeBase, as it may have some useful information.

• LIN Write Queue Overflow - Help

I am having "Write Queue overflow" error for the LIN monitoring program.
Basically, I am sending a master message to my DUT and same time monitoring the slave message from the DUT.
The problem always happen, the smaller value I put the timer, the faster I get the error.
Details are as attached screenshot.

LIN Error.JPG ‏202 KB

Hello. I have a similar problem. As you can see for the attached program (only part of the main code), I am trying to do something relatively easy. I want to write to the LIN bus and then read the information that is sent to me by the prototype board (includes a PIC microcontroller that deals with the LIN bus). In order to achieve this I initially copied large parts of the “write header frame and receive LIN” example. I have produced my own LIN analyser txt box which is at the top of the loop.
I replaced the write button with a timer that has selectable period. I would like to write to the bus with minimum period of 1ms. What happens is that the program will stop writing at random intervals (which can also be seen from the LED of the LIN device which I use as interface (NI USB-8476s)). The biggest mystery is why the program (although it keeps running) it stops writing. By using the attrvalue of the read vi I don’t see any queues of data and I don’t get the  over flow error. Even the timeout vi attributes are in accordance with the write vi (i.e. 2 for successful write, 0 when the program stops writing, meaning that I can’t really understand anything from that). I managed to “overcome” the problem by auto resetting the loop every time it stops but I’m not happy with this solution because I would like to know somehow why I get this problem and if can solve it without resets. Is there a way to see the queues that exist inside the write vi? Do I overload the bus? And if yes how could see that?
Kind regards
Theo
PS: I have attached 2 subvis that you will need to run the main body (ignore the other ones -not needed for this part)
PS2: The start and end contain also some attibutes that i may not really need, just included them when i was experimenting!

• Error "Event Queue Overflowed" with the "Write file to Citadel Server"

Hello,
I can import data from a file and I can see the data
in the historical database without troubling.
But I always have this error "Event Queue Overflowed", that don't perturb my data and my application (I have just this boring message).
I have tried many things :
- increasing the size of my input buffer (-> 1.000.000, no change) : I don't think so that it's important because I've tried with a value of 100 and anyway sometimes my application works with this small value of 100.
- increasing the File_location tag size (-> 260). No change.
- My write to Citadel.cfg is in the LabVIEW folder.
Can you help me ?
Thank you.

• Message Id duplicated error in Adapter Engine

Hello guys,
last week we had an error in an adapter JDBC sender. The error we see in the adapter is: Error during commit or rollback of database transaction: 'com.sap.aii.af.service.util.transaction.api.TxManagerException: Unable to commit transaction: The transaction has been rolled back: com.sap.engine.services.ts.transaction.TxRollbackException'
If we see inside the error says that when is tryring to put the message in the queue the error is that the key message id is duplicated.
Searching in the message monitoring, there is a message processed with the same message id 3 hours before.
The problem was after a re-start of PI, and the solution was to create a copy of the adapter. we tried to start/stop, inactivate/activate and the error still continue, Ia have not tried to put the old adapter again.
Anybody knows what could be the problem or a correct solution?
Many thanks ind advance.
Regards,
Xavier.

Hi, Xavier
See note 1361305 - File sender adapter generates duplicate message IDs.
In my system, this note solved the same problem in JBDC and file adapter.

• DSC "tag engine" "unable to start the citadel 5 service" "unable to start the service"

Hi, I don't know why, but I'm not able to start the
tag engine anymore. First I thought of a corrupt *.scf-
file, but this is not the case.
To investigate the problem I wrote a nice program,
perhaps it is of interest. And perhaps someone else
had the problem and was able to find the reason for the
problem. I also included screen shots of the error messages.
I'm working with LV 7.1.1 (but the problem was there
before upgrading from 7.1 to 7.1.1). I saved the example
code also in previous versions of LV.

Hi, I asked the support to help me, but they were not able
to help, they suggested a new installation.
To avoid that, I tried to reinstall (repair) only the Datalogging and Supervisory Control (DSC) Module and afterwards I mass compiled the whole NI directory.
For the moment, the problem is solved. Regards, Stefan

• Stack overflow error

Hi..
I have problem with this code.
       class test
           test tt=new test();   //1
           String name1;
        test() {}
        test(String i)
              name1=i;
             //tt=new test();    //2
       public static  void main(String arg[]){
                  test t1=new test("kj"); //3
}  When I use line 2 (nstead of line 1 ) for initializing the ref variable iam not having any problem.
But if i use as in line 1 iam getting stack overflow error..
I thought tht calling a constructor recursivley results in a stack overflow error..
But iam instantiating t1 with a one arg constructor (line 3) for which tt (line 1)is intialized,then where is the recursion happening..
can any one pls clear..
Thnx.
mysha..

please use

tags around your code - makes it much easier to read.
I think you have it - consider this code:public class StackOverflower {
        private StackOverflower so = new StackOverflower();
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            StackOverflower mySO = new StackOverflower();
}Running this will overflow the stack since creation of an instance of StackOverflower requires creation of an instance of StackOverflower. This code though:public class NonStackOverflower {
        private NonStackOverflower nso = null;
        public NonStackOverflower() {
        public NonStackOverflower(String s) {
            this.nso = new NonStackOverflower();
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            NonStackOverflower myNSO = new NonStackOverflower();
}Won't, since the creation of a new NonStackOverflower is not required to create a new NonStackOverflower instance.
Did that make sense? I may have gotten confused and failed to illustrate your situation with my code...
Good Luck

This is NOT supported by VMware and doing so will break Apples EULA, you need Apple hardware to run OSX.

• Internal error, cannot load engine Number 2 due to error 5

I have had a StartStop transcription program for several years. I bought my Dell computer with Windows 8 (now 8.1) in late 2014. I had no problems running the StartStop program until it got a tune-up by my regular tech.  Since then, when I click to
open it, I get the message: "##### Internal error, cannot load engine Number 2 due to error 5."  My tech couldn't figure it out and another tech couldn't fix it either after looking at it for hours.  StartStop could not figure it out either.
Since then, I bought a Digitope digitalizer, which converts cassette tapes to CD's. When I try to open that program the exact same error message comes up!
So I am thinking there is something awry with certain audio programs. I am able to run another transcription program, Express Scribe.
Any thoughts!
The 2nd tech suggested rebooting the entire computer and reinstalling all programs, but I'm not sure I can find all my original programs.
Thanks!

Hello Silent Fisher,
What StartStop transcription program do you mean?

• Is there a way to force the Tag Engine to dump its input buffer to the database?

I have an application where I start a process and log the data, and then call a subVI that uses the Read Historical Trend VIs to get all of the data from when the process started until now. The problem is that the Historical Trend VIs only read from the database on disk, and the Tag Engine's buffer doesn't write to disk until it's full (or possibly times out; I'm not sure about that, though). Is there a way to force the Tag Engine to write to disk, so that the Historical Trend VIs will return the most recent data?
Shrinking the buffer will help a little, but that will only result in missing less of the most recent data. One possible hack is to have a dummy tag that I simply write enou
gh data to that will cause the buffer to be written to the database. I was hoping for something more elegant, though.

That's a good question.
The control about the datalogging and the DSC Engine is all done (more or less) automatically - you feel the NI ease-of-use idea
That means the Citadel service (one of the NI Services installed by LabVIEW DSC) is responsible of taking care about the datahandling (writing to and reading from the database files including caching some data e.g. index files, frequently used data...).
The DSC Engine makes a request to the Citadel service that this data has to be logged. Everything else is handled by the Citadel service. Internally, there are two kinds of logging periods handled through the Citadel service. One for traces being viewed (a small period: 200ms) and one for traces not being viewed (slow (big) log period: 20000ms). That
means, if Citadel gets a request to store a value it will buffer it and store it as soon as possible depending on other circumstances. One depends on the fact if this trace data is being viewed (e.g. with Read Histroical Trend.vi) If you request/read to view a trace you should pretty much see the current values because citadel should use the fast log period.
The Citadel service takes care as well about setting priorities e.g. the writes before the reads (We don't want to loose data - right?). That means if you really stuff the system by writing a lot of data the CPU might get overloaded and the reads will happen less often.
If you really want to see "real-time" data I would recommend to use the "Trend Tags.vi". With this approach you avoid the chain DSCEngine-Output Buffer-CitadelService-InputBuffer-File-HD... and back.
I hope this info helps.
Roland
PS: I've attached a simple VI that has a tip (workaround) in it which might do what you are looking for... However, Nationa
l Instruments cannot support this offically because the VI being used are internally DSC VIs that certainly change in the next version of LV DSC... and therefore you would need to "re-factor" your application.

• Stack overflow error while creating connection using Oracle10G dirver

Hi,
Our web application built on Servlets runs on the iPlanet web server (In solaris machine). Earlier we used JDK 1.5 update 6 with oracle 9i driver and now got migrated to JDK 1.5 update 10 with same driver. Everything went fine until we started testing the environment with oracle 10G driver. Java 1.5 update 10 with oracle 10G driver throws "Stack overflow error".
Driver version is - 10.2.0.2.0
This occurs only when I access the portal. When I created the single main program and try to run it in the solaris machine it works fine. But wen I try to access the portal keeping this driver under classpath, it fails. Please let me know if anyone have any clues.
When I looked into it, I am able to find that the "stack overflow error" occurs at the point the code line DriverManager.Getconnection("url", "username", "pwd") executes.

Yes, request goes through connection pool but weird
thing is application throws stack excatly where
DriverManager.getConnection gets executed.
Not weird at all.
This is what I am guessing that you did. You changed the driver and some other stuff, like configuration information.
Then when it blew up you tracked down in your code where you see the stack overflow. That happens to be on the connection line. That is not where the overflow 'occurs' - it merely represents where you saw it.
That line however isn't using the oracle driver. What it is using is a connection pool of some sort. That connection pool is configured somewhere. And that configuration is self-referential (or maybe refers to a another driver which refers back to the original.)
And that causes you stack over flow.

• Goods Receipt PO "money overflow" error message

Hi all,
A client is having problems when trying to post a Goods Receipt PO based on an A/P Reserve Invoice. When adding the following error message comes up:
[Goods Receipt PO-Rows -Warehouse Code][line: 0], 'Money Overflow (ODBC-104)'
Has anyone of you encountered this message? What could the problem be? They are using SAP 2005A PL 46.
Any help will be appreciated.

Anthony

or you do not have permission.

Hi Paul,
I also had the same error on one of my servers, and it was because the user that created the database no longer worked for the company.
So when his AD account got deleted, the database had NULL as owner
Using the following query I asked for the owners of the databases:
select name, suser_sname(sid) from master.dbo.sysdatabases
So changing the owner of the databases that had a NULL owner solved the issue for me.
use <databasesname>
go
exec sp_changedbowner 'sa'
Thanks for triggering the solution.
