Quicktime removed re-added itunes 7, error signature

Quicktime was removed from computer.
itunes wouldn't start. re-installed updated itune 7. now itunes won't open. error report states- error signature. help! tried to restore, didn't work. either need to extract library or figure out my signature problem

now itunes won't open. error report states- error signature.
is that an "itunes has encountered a problem ..." message?
if so, let's check to see if it's currently associated with a quicktime issue.
try launching your QuickTime. does it:
(a) launch perfectly fine?
(b) fail to launch with an error message? (if so, what does it say?)
(c) exhibit other peculiar behavior? (if so, could you describe it for us?)

  • Error in Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

    Hello Everyone,
I am a regular user of I-tunes but recently i dont know why but I got some error in Launching I-tunes. So as recomonded by "Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7" section. I started removing the products. But after removing Quick time, I tried to remove Apple Software Update but while uninstalling it gave error that "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." and the uninstall rollbacks.
Please send me a feasible solution to this problem.
    Thank You.

Uninstalling the iCloud control panel should allow you to do that folder deletion.

  • I can't install itunes on my PC. Message "itunes did not install correctly. Please reinstall itunes. Error 7 (windows error 5). How do I fix this? I have uninstalled itunes and quicktime several times

I also deleted all apple software on my pc.

A complete uninstall/reinstall of iTunes and related software components is worth a try (7s can indicate trouble with other software components like Apple Application Support). See the following documents for instructions:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

To look in the ~/Library/iTunes/Mobile\ Backups folder to find the Manifest.plist folder, and delete entries for apps that might be causing the problem.
I remembered that a little while ago, I had started getting an error message while syncing and updated app (Sleepmaker or something- couldn't remember which, precisely, but knew that it was a white noise app). So, I went to the Manifest.plist folder, and removed the entries for the couple different flavors of the Sleepmaker app that I had installed.
Then, reconnected the iPhone, and clicked "Continue Restore" once again when it reported that there had been an interrupted restore. This time, it went through fully! Took quite a while (~1 hr) to copy all my media onto the phone, but now it's all there! Hopefully this will help others who might in the same situation...

Hey Jack- Where did you find QuicTime 7.7 for Windows download?  I can't find v7.7, all Apple website links lead me to QT 7.6.9 as I noted here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3239439?tstart=0

    Hi johnbpl,
It sounds as if you are having difficulty connecting to the App Store to check for updates for applications on your iPad. If that is the case, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
Can't connect to the iTunes Store - Apple Support
Start with the section Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch then if needed the section Learn more.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • ITunes 10.5.2 failed on my Windows XP system.  Now my phone is not recognized.  I tried installing manually.  I tried to repair using Add/Remove programs.  Still get errors.

Attempted update to iTunes 10.5.2 failed on my Windows XP system.  Now my phone is not recognized.  I tried installing manually.  I tried to repair using Add/Remove programs.  Still get errors.

Try doing it in a WIndows Safe mode - Restart computer and hit F8 key right after your see BIOS check and choose "Safe mode with networking"
    Do the SFC /SCANNOW again.
If that does not work, whilst in safe mode, download Free Malwarebyte software from CNET's Download.com.  Install, update virus definition then perform a full scan.  Remove if it did find some viruses or trojans.  Restart computer.
Back to regular windows, do the SFC /SCANNOW again.
If that doesnot work, check to see if your Hard drive has errors or bad sectors
GO START BUTTON /COMPUTER, right mouse click OS (C:) and choose "Properties"
Choose "Tools" tab and under error checking, click "Check Now".
Make sure "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" is checked and click start.
Restart windows will perform the above task to fix errors  This may take hours depends on how big is your Hard Drive
    Good Luck!!.

  • After removing virus from xp home. itunes gives error -50 when i try to open it

after removing virus from xp home. itunes gives error -50 when i try to open it.

Ah, the old jokes are still often the best ones, rIcHaRd ...
The -50 in that context can indicate damage to your Apple Application Support. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are stashed.) So I'd first try a repair install of your Apple Application Support.
Restart the PC. Head into your Add or Remove programs control, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
Does the repair install go through okay? If so, does your iTunes start launching again?

  • Error Signature

Windows is reporting a Error Signature (before and after the updated version (7.3) of itunes). Also Quicktime will now not open. I have uninstalled all applications and reinstalled, but that didn't work either. The Error Signature has the following information:
    AppNam: itunes.exe
    App Ver: 7.3.0.54
    ModNam: Unknown
    Mov Ver: 0.0.0.0
    OffSet: 45656d69

Quite difficult to uninstall Quicktime. Uninstall kept resulting in 'fatal error' which would not allow the program to be removed. Eventually worked??!
That can be an issue with QT uninstalls if a Codec pack has gone in over the top of it. They can leave stuff lurking about in the Windows\System32\ folder that can confuse the QuickTimes installs/uninstalls.
Let's try swapping out your QuickTime again, while also trying to clean away any lefdtover business in your Windows\System32\ from the Codec Pack.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. then use it to clear any existing QuickTime installation configuration information from your PC:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove any files or folders in there called "QuickTime" or that identify themselves as QuickTime files.
    7. Restart your computer.
next, we'll try to get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?

  • Security Update (QuickTime 7.1.6) has an invalid signature. Not installed.

I installed QuickTime 7.1.6 on XP Pro SP2. I chose the option to make it available to All Users. I am now logging in on the same account that I used to perform the installation. That account is an Administrator account.
When Apple Update runs on my new QuickTime installation, it says a Security Update is available, plus iTunes. I uncheck iTunes and proceed with the security update. It gives me this error message:
Security Update (QuickTime 7.1.6) has an invalid signature. It will not be installed.
I tried Tools > Download Only and it fails with this message:
Security Update (QuickTime 7.1.6) has an invalid signature. The download has been removed.
I tried manually downloading the security update directly from the Apple site. I get the full download no problem. When I run the msi package, I get this message:
The system administrator has set policies to prevent this isntallation.
Reading posts on this forum, I looked at registry keys and permissions. The HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\QuickTime.QuickTime key owner was Administrators. The owner of the QuickTime keys under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Apple Computer, Inc.\QuickTime is Kevin (me, also an Administrator). I modified QuickTime.QuickTime so Kevin is the owner, made sure it trickled down to all subkeys, and the problem persists. No change in behavior.
    What do I do now?

What was this "other" update that installed sucessfully? I noticed that you are still using OS10.4.7.
Did you repair permissions prior & after the installation? If not, suggest that you do so & try to install QT again. Make sure you repair permissions after the installation.

  • ITunes could not connect to the iTunes Store "Error Message"

I recently added iTunes 7.6 to my Windows XP operating system at the same time when I added an *Ion USB Turntable (TTUSB).* I currently have the 80G iPod with the larger video screen. I added in the supplied software of the EZ Vinyl Converter. The software reads from Gracenote and imports into iTunes okay. But now my PC cannot access the iTunes store to buy songs, read the tracks on the discs, or display new album artwork. The diagnostic read the network connectivety test, the CD/DVD drive, and iPod connectivity tests all read okay. I followed the directions on checking the network settings under the Internet Options Tool "Connections" Lan Settings and the Automatic detection and still no dice. All I get is "Make sure your network is active."

I'm seeing this error on some, but not all, of my Windows XP machines. On my personal development XP box, I see this error if iTunes is closed when I try and access iTunes U via my transfer script or Stanford's.
"iTunes could not connect to the Music Store. The network connection was terminated unexpectedly. Make sure your network connection is active and try again."
The errors occured in IE 7 Beta, Firefox 1.5.x, and Firefox 2 Beta. In each case, iTunes U loaded after I clicked the 'ok' button in iTunes. I did notice that in Firefox's case an additional pop-up window appeared that asked whether or not I had iTunes; when I selected that I do have itunes, it transfered me to iTunes but generated the error.
After getting these errors on my Windows XP machine, I tried it on two different lab machines running Windows XP, and didn't get the error message once -- I tried it in IE 6, Firefox 1.0.x and Firefox 1.5.x and they all worked. It even worked with IE 7 Beta and Vista Beta.
Based on this, I think the problem must lie in how Windows registered iTunes, and the handshake just isn't happening properly.

  • Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services. and 'iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 193)

    Hi!
So i think i closed the wrong service at some point a few weeks back (apple mobile device) but iTunes remained working after that for another week. I then updated iTunes and i get the same  "Service ‘Apple Mobile Device’ (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." every time. If i click ignore, just so i can access iTunes with out syncing my iPod (touch 2nd gen) i then get 'iTunes was not installed correctly. Please re-install iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 193)" when it has all installed. I don't understand what the problem is anymore as I have looked at other questions on the apple website, carried out the advice and it hasn't work. Any of them.
    Tings I have done:
    - Wiped all iTunes and Apple data from my computer (if you search for 'iTunes' or 'Apple' nothing comes up apart from applets from system code.
    - Attached iPod before iTunes install and updated drivers.
    - Installed iTunes as 'Run as administrator'
    - Uninstalled and re-installed the software nearly 20 times now and rebooted the computer in between everytime.
Please someone help because i really need to get music on my ipod and i enjoy the ease of use of iTunes compared to spotify or Windows Media Player.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.
Regarding AMDS failures there is a hint in another thread that disabling the Windows Firewall before attempting to reinstall may help, otherwise take a look at the steps outlined in this post. Re: Can't install iTunes 12.1 on Windows 7 64-bit. I know they look a little daunting, but the process of generating the logs themselves isn't that hard to do. Extracting useful information from them is still a challenge but maybe something will leap out. If you want to post the log for the failed components for me to have a look at here or in the other thread please edit out any personal information, particularly your email address, first.

Everytime I open iTunes, it always says "Itunes has a problem and need to close" thingy (the error report). that happens EVERY TIME i open iTunes... I reinstalled like 5 times...deleted other programs... and it STILL does not work. I have windows xp.

When its done, goto the location you saved it and double click it to install itunes.
