Random moments of garbled noise during songs

Just got a new mbp and a new external harddrive with my iTunes library transferred onto it. When playing my mp3s, iTunes randomly garbles the song for about a half second at a time. I've replayed the songs to doublecheck the garbled moment in the song, but it plays back normally. It only lasts about a half second, but its happening fairly often, like once every minute or two.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any thoughts on what's causing it?
thanks.

that is generally a problem with the mp3 or other compressed files being un-compressed or expanded. How ever you wanna say it. I have never noticed this on my mac's consistently happening. But I have noticed it on my ipod touch when I don't restart it for a couple of weeks.
My guess would be restart iTunes, if that don't work restart your computer. If that doesn't work, it may be a problem with playing the files off an external HD.
I have never done that so I don't know, maybe somebody else can help with that.

  • IPod random stopping during songs

Hi folks, this is my first issue with my iPod since I got it, I have a 20 Gig iPod. Recently it has started to stop randomly during songs, pausing for no good reason. I've been looking for how to troubleshoot this issue, but I'm hoping someone can help me.

that happened to me also, with the 20g. i was getting ready to call about it when it stopped happening. no idea why...

  • Random pauses during songs.

I've had my nano since november 2005, about a month ago while I was listening to it my ipod suddenly paused for no reason(I dont recall jerking on the headphone wire or jack at all).
Ever since then the ipod keeps randomly pausing during songs, the odd thing is it doesn't only do it when I wiggle the headphone jack, it does it sometimes even when its sitting flat on my sofa without anything at all touching it and alot of slack in the headphone wire. Also the ipod does it even when the hold button is on as well so it isnt the play/pause button.
I tried sending it to apple but under the reasons for replacing the nano there was no option for damaged headphone jacks so I chose "damaged dock port" since it is very close to the headphone jack, and I also wrote in the description that the headphone jack is broken. Apple sent back the same nano saying they couldn't find any problem with it so I'm out of ideas.
Oh and yes I've tried resetting it and everything.

hmm another question, when i try to open another service request to send my ipod in again, it says it cant because my ipod already has a service request open, even though ive already gotten my ipod back since last week when i sent it in...any idea how long it will take till i can send it in again?

  • Skips & Scratch Noises during playback ...

I am all of a sudden getting skips & scratch noises during playback on certain albums during playback on Itunes and it transferred over to my ipod ... What could be causing this and how can I get rid of it.  ( No it is not the CD it was burned from cause it sounds perfect playing on other devices)
thanks for any ideas or tips :-)

I have observed this with my 4th gen Nano. The sound is pristine through the headphone jack, but when connected via some (older) dock devices there are little bursts of static every few moments.
I have tried this with a Bose Sounddock and a Tivoli iSongbook. Same thing. The little static bursts are NOT repeatable (random), and do NOT appear in headphones. Most people would probably never notice this noise, especially if they play only rock music. Music with less percussive sound reveals the problem more easily.
The very same files played through the dock devices on my old 3rd Gen iPod sound perfect.
I was getting ready to ask Apple to exchange my Nano for another to see if that has any effect. Other than this issue, I love it and it works great.

  • Ipod making "skipping" noises BETWEEN songs...

Hmm, this might be hard to explain, my ipod does not skip during a song, but when switching to the next song, there's a loud, garbled noise that sounds like a record skipping, or maybe a cd fast forwarding. I'm trying all of apple's solutions and so far none have worked, but I'm in the process of restoring right now. Everything sounds normal in itunes, it's only the ipod, and only between songs. I'm nervous that my hard drive might be going, has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on how to fix it?

    Welcome to the discussions,
did you check the ipod HD with your disk utilities for damaged files?

  • 6th generation nano starts talking during songs

My ipod randomly starts talking during songs and the voice over automated voice goes through the names of each playlist and sometimes songs.  It usually happens when I'm at the gym.

  • Iphone 5s Echo and Swoosh noises during active call

    Hello All,
I purchased a new iphone 5s around a month back and I consistently get echoes of my own voice and swoosh noises during call. This happens irrespective if I make the call or an incoming call is answered, from any location like my room and on the street (No tunnels, elevators, etc). I originally thought it was because I receive notifications like texts or if my cheek touches the display, but I hear this noises and echoes even if I am on headphone (both apple and other branded headphones). Is this is a known issue, if so how do I resolve it ?
    Thanks

Flip the silent switch on the side of the iphone.

  • Why does my screen darken at random moments? Im unable to see my screen, I cant even unlock it to check on apps

I just received the iphone 4s  but at random moments the screen darkens and I am unable to see anything. Im not even sure my phone is on unless I completely turn it off and on again but when I turn it back on the screen is dark. I cant unlock my phone adjust the brightness or anything not that matters because my brightness is all the way up. Please Help

    Have you tried reset?
    Restore?
    Page 46 of the manual:
"If something isn’t working right, restarting, force quitting an application, or resetting
iPhone will likely solve the problem.
Restart iPhone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and
hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.
If you can’t turn off iPhone or if the problem continues, you may need to reset. A reset
should be done only if turning iPhone off and on doesn’t resolve the problem.
Force quit an application: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPhone
for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then press and hold the Home button
    until the application quits.
Reset iPhone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the
same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • S90 Static noise during video recording

Everytime I do video recording on my S90, I can hear static noise during playback.
Does anyone else face this problem? Is this hardware or software related?

    Update the S90 via OTA
Once that is done then try again. If problem persist then open dialer and press ####1111#.
In engineering mode, select back mic test in Item test. This will record via back mic and will playback. If you still hear static during this time then bring it to the service center.

  • Very strange keynote garbled noise on "Play Slideshow"

It's only happened twice, but occasionally when I click "Play Slideshow" in Keynote, the screen goes dark like normal but then a loud garbled noise starts. It happens even if the machine is muted and nothing can stop it short of pulling out the battery or power cord. In the Console there's a long repeating error "failed to get English name for language code" with various two or three letter codes following. Has anyone ever experienced this before of know what causes it?

If it's a 32-bit FP mixdown (the default), and you set the volume levels too hot then the file in EV will indeed look (and sound) clipped. But if it is, then the simple act of normalizing the file back to 0dB will fix this at a stroke, by redoing the scaling. The file is a virtual entity from this point of view, but your soundcard isn't - so if you have a file where the scaling is set too high (by mixing it too hot) the soundcard
    will overload and clip.
But, as long as it's a 32-bit FP file, it's correctable.

  • ITunes keeps freezing during songs

My itunes just keeps freezing every few seconds, during songs.

This all started when I downloaded the new itunes version (11) by the way.
    help would be appreciated

    Hi Kengc2,
I'm having the same problem as you.
    Running
    OS: Win 8 64bit
    Ram: 8GB
    Intel Core i7 - 2600k @ 3.5GHz
Must be something in Windows 8, as I did not have any problems with Win 7.
Having said that my itunes foldered is stored on my NAS so not sure is the slow network speed is causing the issue.
Interested to know whether windows makes a hot fix or whethers apple are secretly trying to get more Apple customers

  • Nano 6th gen- voice over during songs

I have a nano 6th gen and during songs the music will fade and a voice over will interrupt and name the song and artist then will start skipping through the song. It will then repeat the name and artist then start listing the folders I have set up in Itunes. I have tried turning the ipod on and off but the problem is persistant. Any ideas on how to fix this issue? The ipod was bought new, not refurbished and isn't more than 1 1/2 yrs old.

I can't help you, but you are not alone!!

    Welcome to discussions!
I do not know if this bug was fixed in iMovie 6, so follow the instructions here:

  • Buzzing noise during wireless data transfers from new (model 1408) AirPort Extreme.

I exchanged a 3 week old 4th generation AEBS to get this new allegedly more powerful 5th generation AEBS. Both base stations were positioned in identical locations adjacent to identical harware. Yet only the new model emits the buzzing sounds. Any explanations?

Additional information gathered since original post...
At this point I have purchased and have had the opportunity to use 3 new 5th generation AirPort Extreme Base stations (model 1408). Two came from my local Apple retail store and the third was shipped from the on line store. All three emitted exactly the same buzzing/hissing noise during network traffic. I sit about 2 feet from the AEBS in a quiet home office and these sounds are very annoying.
Two Apple tech support reps claimed they never heard of this problem. I directed them to Apple Support Community postings dating back to 2009 that exactly described this issue (even with the 4th generation AEBS). Although these posts were detailed, as far as I could tell they did not state that Apple provided an explanation. My calls to Tech support have been kicked up to systems engineers. I am supposed to get some sort of reply after July 4.
I think others should make Apple aware of this issue (again) if their AEBS routers make the same noises.
    Thanks
