Random package

Hi All,
under which package can i use to install the random package dbms_random into the schema that every user be able to use??
Cannot find in Oracle ver 8.0.4. Advice greatly apprciated.
Thanks

S.R.H.
I believe the actual statement is (in my own words)
A Class which is in a package cannot access any Class which is not in a package.
Note that another class which is not packaged can access another class which is also not in any package.
So a class in the default package would be severely crippled in terms of re-usability.

  • Random package corruption

    Hello,
    I'm trying to install Arch x86_64 with the 2012/08 ISO, but every time I try to install the packages, pacman says some of them are "invalid or corrupt (PGP signature)". If I re-download them, some other random packages become corrupt! I have already tried 3 different mirrors, disabling signature check, even installing it to the live environment (instead of to the hard disk), restarting the modem/router, trying another day, and nothing works.
    This is a very odd situation:
    The packages seem to download just fine;
    ifconfig shows no corrupt or lost packets;
    I have another machine with Arch Linux, and it always updates nicely;
    I have installed many times the "stress" package in the live environment, and it never became corrupt;
    I had Linux installed in this very machine 2 years ago. Only difference is, now I have a fake RAID stripe of 2 disks and a Radeon HD 6970 card, which I'm 99% sure has nothing to do with anything. But then again, computers (also, users) don't really need a logical reason to fuck things up.
    So, any suggestions?
    ALSO! In the phrase "I had Linux installed in this very machine 2 years ago", is it correct to use "had" or "have had"? Can someone explain me this, please?

    Have you checked the disks? (I was also going to mention RAM as I saw something similar a few months ago but if it isn't that, something else hardware?)
    "I had a hat with three corners when I was a child." [I don't have that hat now.]
    "I have had this bike for several years." [I still have it now.]
    "I had no luck installing Arch." [And I've given up trying.]
    "I've had no success installing Arch." [But I'm probably still trying or at least considering it.]
    "I've had no luck getting the elves out of my laptop so far." makes sense (except for the elves).
    "I had no luck getting the elves out of my laptop so far." doesn't really make sense though people would know what you meant (even if they thought you were a bit touched).
    If you want a proper grammatical explanation, though, you'll have to ask somebody who learnt English as a second language (or teaches it). I can't tell you _why_!

  • Random package question...

    In Netbeans it always says:
    "Warning: As of JDK 1.4 it is highly recommended that you do NOT place Java classes in the default package."
    I was just wondering why this is.

    It seems the old package reference still exists in your project bin folder or inside stproj file. WHich is why it tries to validate the older package each time when you start  the project.

  • [SOLVED] pacman - package does not have a valid architecture

    Hello,
    When I was trying to update my system recently, I ran into this problem:
    :: Synchronizing package databases...
    core is up to date
    extra is up to date
    community is up to date 0.0 B 0.00B/s 00:00 [----------------------] 0%
    multilib is up to date
    :: Starting full system upgrade...
    error: failed to prepare transaction (package architecture is not valid)
    :: package wine-1.7.17-1-i686 does not have a valid architecture
    I tried clearing pacman's cache to see if that was the problem, but it didn't do anything. I haven't upgraded the system in over a week before this, and I've installed packages in the mean time without issues. I know that it's not just a wine issue - I tried installing some random packages but ran into the same issue.
    The only thing I can think of that might have caused this would be archiso - I was trying to build a custom ISO but build.sh went wacky for some reason, and it seemed to be trying to install packages onto my system, not into the ISO.
    EDIT: This problem seems to only affect packages in community and extra. Packages from core and multilib don't run into this problem.
    SOLUTION: I think pacman's database files for community and extra got corrupted somehow. I just went into /var/lib/pacman, moved the sync folder to sync_old, then ran pacman -Sy, Everything seems to be good now.

    Unless that's a typo or you immediately followed it by `pacman -Su` then everything is not good now.  Never run `pacman -Sy`.

  • Idea for package review system

    I've set up a small proposal at http://arch.gooeylinux.org/ . I had been discussing with Xentac for a while about displaying random packages on the Arch front page. The devels would then encourage people to test them, and go along the lines of "if you can't program, or don't have lots of free time, help out this way". People want to help, but they need a "starting point", and the random packages give that.
    The packages listed at the top of the linked page are just random, and don't really mean much. It's just an example.
    Basically, my problem with the current system is that once a package makes it into -Current, there is no periodic review to make sure the packages are still working, up to date, etc. This would provide a network of people to review first, current packages, and second, new major changes that the devels want to implement, but don't want to risk without testing. It's all explained on the link.  This network of testers could be a very valuable asset to the developers.
    lavapunk helped out and tested 4 random packages I listed yesterday and found 3 packaging/build errors. I think this helps to prove the system is needed.
    I'd love any criticism. I'm sure there's kinks in the idea.

    OK, I was thinking of expanding the project with a "package feedback" system, where people would report WORKING packages (bugtracker is still the place for broken packages).
    This would help me get an idea about who is participating, and it would give us some assurance packages are working well. Does this sound like a good idea? What type of system should I use?
    Just a small update, from chatting on IRC, it seems as if a few more broken packages were found through the project testing (not by me).
    this sounds like an excelent idea ... but what system to use i dont know exactly --- i would start with a mysql-db (maybe you can have an export from the original one??) and a php interface with user/account access ... but i'm proposing this, because this is the only solution i really can code to work and did, so maybe there are other better ones (tomcat? ...?)

  • Package status not appended in the Add Remove Programs in control panel after the installation.

    Hi,
    I have a strange problem with "Package status not appended in the Add Remove Programs after the installation.".
    Like, onec the package is installed via SCCM, it should be listed in the Add Remove programs with the package name, version and the install date.
    At times on random machine these details are not appended. Although the application works fine on the machine, but the correct details are not populated in Add/ Remove programs.
    There is no issue with the package as it shows correct details on few other machine where it is installed.
    This behaviour is random on random machines. Hence, very difficult to track the reason.
    System Security analyst at CapG

    Hi Jason,
    Yes, i have tried Jorgen's suggestion, ans as said earlier. It install the application smoothly on any other machine (any random machine) perfectly with correct details in Add Remove Programs.
    As mentioned earlier, the same package, same environment, same set of machines with same OS, it installs correctly on few machines.. and on few its just misses to add correct details in Add Remove progs.
    If it was related to package, how does it install corretly on other machines?? How does the same package installs correctly when done manually or by that means by PSEXEC.
    To a matter of fact, we are checking our package for the multiple times now, just to make sure it is buldled correctly with correct install scripts. We are trying to search different multiple ways to see what makes the package to skip the
    correct entry in the Add Remove.
    To add, this is not with one package, it happens with random package with random machine. There is not typical behaviour that could be tracked.
    All the installations done via SCCM 07, with admin account.
    This looks more tricky and complex then as simple as saying, its the fault of packaging.
    I hate to say this but this is NOT a CM07 problem, You will need to work with your packaging team, and use tools like process monitor,psexec and the msi log to determine why it is failing.
    Your first step is to find a pc where you can consistent get the setup to fails. once you get that you can use process monitor and the msi log files to determine what is going on.

  • 2.93 MBP - Problems before I even opened the box.

    Well. My new MBP arrived about 20 minutes ago. The shipping box was double taped on the top. I peeled the top layer off, and the tape below was slit, so the box was opened and then resealed. Fine...
    I took out the box that houses the computer, and low and behold, there are two clear pieces of tape holding the box closed. You have to look closely: They aren't lined up perfectly.
    Now my issue is: Why is this brand new machine from China resealed? Was this a defective machine that was repaired? Was this formerly a 2.8 machine that had the motherboard replaced to make it a 2.93?
    I'm really frustrated, and angry. Before I open it, I may call Apple and ask for a refund. There's just too many concerns going on with these new MBPs to NOT be concerned about this.
    Any thoughts on this crappy situation I'm in?

    With international shipping, random packages within shipments are opened for Customs inspections, then re-sealed. I suspect this is what happened in your case.
    If this was the case, then the inside box would not be be retaped with the same "security seal" that Apple uses on the inside box. FedEx shows no delays, and the machine shipped yesterday.
    If I were to walk into the store with a double taped box, and ask for a refund, my guess is that they would claim it was already opened, and there was nothing they would do about it.
    If you ordered a new machine, you got a new machine. Refurbished machines are repackaged and factory-sealed.
    Are they marked as refurbs?
    There's no higher incidence of problems with this model than with any previous model. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, these forums are like the emergency room for Macs, and if you judged people by that, you'd think that most of the human population was sick or injured.
    My first thought was that maybe they did some kind of modification or "fix" to the machine before sending it out.
    Open the box, power up your MBP, and enjoy!
    I wish I could. I just know that once I break the (second) seal, there is no gong back, and I have committed to 3 spending grand.

  • JDev 10.1.2.1: Errors after migration from 9.0.5.2

    We have a rather large project here.
    We're just in the process of migrating to 10.1.2.1 but we're facing a couple of problems. One of them is this:
    When JDev loads the business components (for example when we expand a package containing BCs) we get error messages coming from two VOs (each in a different package) stating that entity attributes of the VO cannot be found.
    The one VO is pretty much dead, you cannot even open the wizard for it.
    In the other VO the attributes are set to transient. I can delete the transient attributes and re-add them from the entity without problem. When I close JDev and reopen it, the attributes are back to transient.
    The only thing I can see that both VOs have in common is the entity. The entity is in a third BC package. I cannot find anything wrong with it. When I rewrite the entity nothing (except the version number) is changed. Same applies to the VOs. No changes worth mentioning when I re-create them and compare them to the 9.0.5.2 versions.
    Now the strange thing is this:
    As I wrote before, the errors come from two VOs in two different packages. The
    entity is in a third package.
    Now I have just observed:
    I close JDev with the package tree in the Applications Navigator closed and
    restart it.
    I then navigate to some random package and open the bc folder -> one error from
    both VOs.
    But when the first bc package is one of the packages with the problem VOs, then
    only one error is produced: from the VO in the other package.
    Example: I open a fourth BC package accounting.bc first -> two errors
    from multiplepatientid.bc.MpiAuthorityDomainLovView and
    staff.bc.StaffMemberAliasEditView.
    When the first BC package I open is staff.bc then I only get the error from
    multiplepatientid.bc.MpiAuthorityDomainLovView. StaffMemberAliasEditView
    works!
    When the first BC package I open is multiplepatientid.bc then I only get the
    error from staff.bc.StaffMemberAliasEditView. MpiAuthorityDomainLovView works!
    Weird isn't it. It seems to depend on the order in which Jdeveloper loads the
    BCs.
    I tried to re-create the project file, to re-migrate the workspace .... nothing has helped.
    The application still works as expected. Just JDev fails to load the business components.
    So, has anyone encountered a similar problem so far?
    I created a TAR for that but the support guy is as puzzled as I am.
    Sascha

    Just for the record:
    This is bug 4669535. We received a one-off patch for it.
    Thanks to everyone at Oracle who was involved.

  • Pacaur -Syu without having to type the sudo password

    The Arch wiki mentions being able to run `sudo pacman -Syu` without having to type the sudo password, by running `sudo visudo` and adding something like
    USER_NAME HOST_NAME=/usr/bin/pacman -Syu
    However, I tend to run `pacaur -Syu` to update instead. Is it possible to add an entry to visudo to allow running this without having to type the sudo password? I'm the only user of my computer, so (I think) there are minimal security issues with this.
    I've tried changing pacman to pacaur in visudo, but that did not work. (Probably because `sudo pacaur -Syu` isn't the correct command, it tells you ":: you cannot perform this operation as root". You have to run it as `pacaur -Syu`, and are then prompted for the sudo password.)

    Salkay wrote:
    Spider.007 Perfect! That works well. Can you think of any security ramifications for allowing all of pacman instead of just -Syu? FWIW my entry is:
    USER_NAME ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/updatedb,/usr/bin/pacman
    Well, allowing random packages to be installed through pacaur is already pretty bad, I don't think it'll get any worse. You could also check the pacaur source and add all specific calls it makes to pacman to the sudoers file.

  • Help with 7 segment led program

    hey, I need some help with my program. The program is supposed to make digital numbers display randomly with a possible decimal point in it. If the decimal # has a leading zero, then the zero needs to be not displayed. also, when you click the change color button, the numbers and decimal point are supposed to change to one of three preset colors. I've got the numbers changing colors, but I can't get the decimal point to change color, nor can I get the numbers to change randomly.

    EDIT:
    for instance your Main class alone has a several glaring problems that suggest that you are foundering here. Please see comments in code below:
    public class Main {
        public static void main(String[] args) throws InterruptedException {
            JFrame.setDefaultLookAndFeelDecorated(true);
            MyJFrame mjf = new MyJFrame();
            // why use "while (true)"??? Swing is supposed to be event driven and doesn't need loops like this.
            // do you need to use a Swing Timer instead?
            while (true) {
                int deci = (int)(Math.random() * 3);
                int num = (int)(Math.random() * 1000);
                // why is the method below being called as if it were a
                // static method when it's not?  This is not a legal
                // expression
                Digit.DisplayNumber(num, deci);
                // why is the method below putting the event dispatch thread
                // (the EDT) to sleep.  While this is legal, it's not a smart
                // thing to do
                Thread.sleep(4000);

  • Foreign LDAP authorisation to OS X SL Wiki Server

    I'm handling a minor serverfarm of about 12 Xserver's which sole purpose in life together with about 100TB of datastorage is to provide scientists with enough "oompf" for distributed Matlab computations on raw material from the datastorage.
    On a single of these servers; setup as the sole OD PDC Master ( no attached servers anymnore and no funtions whatsoever ), the management now want the "built-in" wiki ( all the gadgets are enabled and working on this server...) to be used as.....a wiki. However they specifically dont want to use the server/OS X OD service but rather a foreign LDAP database for authorisation.
    The mentioned server does provide a sql database with a few critical apps tied on and the manegement of the datastorage asweel.
    This foreing server allready have a populated database and I can auth to this with my mac clients...btw. not out of the box I've learned the hard way.
    However before i dive into this below subject in more practically terms i'd like to learn if it's doable in some way to have this OD PDC master to actually authenticate to another LDAP directory based on a Solaris OS. I was told to make this happen as to have this as the only auth. service for the WIki and not the Server OS's own OD..which btw. is not populated to any usefullness.
    So..can it be done to reach the goal of having theSnow Leopard OS X server wiki..and probably the webbased services to auth. using a foreign LDAP server? any pointers ?
    I am free to kill the servers own OD service and almost completely dumb it down as it is not used=)
    My Alternative is to use either Mediawiki or Docuwiki if these provides any LDAP auth possiblity which for example phpbb has as a forumsoftware. This forumsoftware is tested with LDAP to the foreign server and working nicely..however will be killed soon.
    Best Regards from Denmark
    Stephan

    I don't run the integrated Wiki so I don't know the direct answer.
    Drupal is the local preference for web content management. The integrated web tools aren't sufficient for my typical requirements.
    Drupal likely could authenticate as required, either via LDAP or Apache module or via OpenID or such.
    But I'd still not have random stuff sitting atop a 100 TB storage array controller; I just don't need the hassles that ensue when that random package goes weird or when the disparate authentication gets befuddled or when some part of Apache goes nuts or fills a disk with logs, or when some yutz breaches security on the content management system or the server.

  • Pull DP doesnt seem to start a download

    OK, So I am having some weird issues with few random packages on random DPs.
    I build a package and it distributes to all DPs fine. But there are certain packages that just will be in 'in progress' for a couple of days and fail.
    So I start looking into logs. The pullDP.log on the DP has
    Start Redistribute  package SPS00100 version 1 PullDP 4/24/2015 3:55:14 PM 3900 (0x0F3C)
    ExecuteJob (2-InProgress) SPS00100.1 for package SPS00100, version 1 PullDP 4/24/2015 3:55:14 PM 6428 (0x191C)
    and that's it. I looked into data transfer service log. that continuously has
     CDTSJob::HandleErrors: DTS Job '{99EBFADB-3AA7-464D-B85B-9E6FB694D616}' BITS Job '{AC716792-A119-4E3B-8559-571B67D5953B}' under user 'S-1-5-18' OldErrorCount 35 NewErrorCount 36 ErrorCode 0x80004005
    So I deleted that bits job, deleted that package distribution from the faling DP. waited for the distmgr.log to say it deleted all the files and redistributed the content again. But now I don't get a BITS job anymore. distmgr.log and pkgtransfer.log
    seem to show all the normal stuff, however the DP does not seem to be downloading the package. and pulldp.log doesn't have the started download line, and it just hangs there with no action.
    This only happens for few packages. seeming to be random and on random servers, same packages work on one server, but not on another. and so on.
    Anyone have any idea? I really don't want to keep remaking packages.
    I found a stupid work around of deleting the package, waiting like 10 min, deleting all bits jobs, rebooting the server and redistributing, that works 90% of the time. This is not a solution, I cannot do this every time a package is problematic.
    Anyone have any idea?

    There are a lot of known issues which have been addressed in recent Cumulative Updates.  If you aren't already on R2 CU4, I'd suggest getting fully patched.
    Does switching it to a normal DP, waiting for it to reinstall, and then switching it back to being a pull DP end up fixing the content?
