Random Reboots: Return or wait?
Most of us BlackBerryaholics have heard of the random reboot issue on the Z10 and I believe that most of us have been experiencing this very annoying problem. In the CrackBerry forums it seems to affect those with Verizon Z10's by far. There have been many ideas, questions and suggestions as to why it's happening, what's causing it and what the fix is.
I read this morning (rumor/true?) that Verizon is replacing the Z10's for their customers due to them concluding that it's a hardware issue. Has anybody else heard this or something similar? I was convinced that the issue was a software one and have been IMPATIENTLY waiting for Verizon to give us the os update (ATT has beat them to the punch....again!). But recently there has been much talk on CrackBerry about people reporting that BlackBerry techs and Verizon support are saying it's a hardware issue.
I've been following the Crackberry threads pretty closely concerning this issue. It's driving me nuts too! I had a bad experience with Verizon customer service (when I called about it) and blasted them in the online survey. Well, the local Verizon store called me today wondering what happened. After explaining it to a very nice, concerned manager....I have a brand new white Z10 waiting for me tomorrow.
Here's what I'm going to do (a combination of different fixes all put together!):
1. Get a brand new replacement Z10
2. Insert a brand new 32gb Class 10 SanDisk SD Card (to replace my class 4)
3. Have them transfer my contacts (Not going to use BB Link)
4. I'm not sideloading ANYTHING!
5. Hope for the best!
BTW, I'm jamesharmeling on CrackBerry.

I just got my iphone 5C on Wednesday, I was slow to move my apps over because well I loved my iphone3. Never had any problems!
I finally moved my apps over last night and was prompted to upgrade to 7.1. I upgraded, then received a voicemail, listened to part of the voicemail (the phone dropped the call) and went back to the main screen.
Then nothing worked. I try to open the phone icon and it tried to open but it returned to the main screen. I tried opening anything else and nothing will work. Not even the phone icon. It also would not shut down.
I let it sit for twenty minutes and tried to turn it off. Then ten minutes later it just rebooted itself. Waited until it came back up and tried to open settings, photo, camera, phone nothing will open.
I know the touch is still working because it is locked and it will allow me to unlock it every time. So I guess something is working.
Any suggestions? Finally got my phone to power off. I was able to reset the phone and everything is now working. I guess I just needed patience!

Random Reboots, way too hot and rapid battery drain...
This is by far the worst phone i ever had. I got the phone a couple a days a go, no apps installed and turned off WIFI, NFC, and BT. Still, the battery lasts for max 4 hours, and thats standby. I also does random reboots and it's pretty warm until I completly shut it down. About 39 degrees celsius. There is no availible update for the phone. I've done several factory resets, but nothing seems to work. Where is the Blackberry support lines for Norway ? I havn't been able to locate any norwegian suport what so ever.. This is too bad for a company like RIM. I'll tell you what. I'll return this crappy piece of **bleep**t first thing in the morning on monday, and I'll never buy a Blackberry again. I cannot sit and wait for a update. I expect the phone to work nice out of the box, and this phone doesnt. I'll buy a Samsung Galaxy S4 instead.

Yes, I got the phone a couple a days ago, and due to non-working entrerprise-activation, I've done a couple of resets. Finaly I got the enterprise-functions up and running, but now I have all other sort of problemes.
And why would I cause all syncing ? I just sit back and watch the battery meter run low. I don't even use it for nothing.
You said "several factory resets, not a couple. Make up your mind.

I cannot call Telenor for blackberry support. Thing are a little different in Norway.
"things" are not different in Norway. The "thing" is that you are paying Telnor for support and you aren't getting it. You need to demand that they escalate your issues to BlackBerry Technical support. With your monthly service you are paying them for support.

About the OS update, when I try to update OTA,the phone keeps on saying that there is no update availible...
Please, don't waste your time, if you feel like that. I'll return the device anyway. I'm complaining because the device does not meet my expectations, ether the product spesifications, and RIM does not offer ANY kind of support in Norway, even they selling their products here. Hopefully someone at RIM will read this.
Again, please don't waste your time.
lol, why are YOU wasting your time coming here to whine and complain about something you have no idea what you're speaking of?
This is a user to user community support forum, we are users just like you. RIM personnel rarely comment here and if you want to complain directly to RIM, www.blackberry.com/contact

Yosemite random reboots on macbook mid 2012
Well I've read thoroughly all the posts related to this kind of issue and it seems it affects a wide range of devices. Either mac minis or 2011 macbooks and so on.
I would like to explain my experience and ask for any advice available. I am experienced with computers and OS's, even though I would not call myself an expert, but as an engineer I possess a certain amount of knowledge. So there it goes.
TL;DR at the bottom
Macbook pro mid 2012 13". Default 4gb memory installed, I added a Samsung EVO 830 SSD in 2012 when I bought it, never had any problems with it.
After a couple of weeks after upgrading to yosemite (november '14) I started noticing the macbook resting on login screen after a reboot. No crash report, no message visible of any reason. As I was installing some special software to do some work related to a lab I was working at the time, I thought it was software related. MS Word and Excel often crashed and I had a couple of problems with other programs. Then it started doing it while I was working, so I decided to check things out. The system freezed for some seconds - 1-2 minutes and proceeded to reboot. Sometimes a hard reset had to be performed.
I decided to perform different installations with different options in order to identify the problem:
Reinstall Yosemite from recovery mode: same result, random reboot, no specific app in use, either Xcode, Safari, or just resting idle with just finder.
Format disk and install yosemite applying time machine backup: same result, random reboot, no specific app, and so on.
Format disk and clean install, manually installing the same main software installed previously: same result, random freezes and reboots.
Format disk and clean install, manually installing essential apps (mac app store only): same result, exactly the same result.
Always with the latest OS version available, and with TRIM enabled and disabled, to discard issues with it. PRAM and SMC resets all along.
During all the testing, the console has not shown any crash report or kernel panic related to the event. After every reboot, console would not show anything special before the boot_time line.
After looking for solutions on different forums, I noticed a pattern on some cases that implied a wake on lan or a handoff, or wifi issue. I tested on different networks, disabled and enabled all options commented, with no effect.
Entering
syslog -k Sender kernel -k Message CSeq 'n Cause: -' | tail | awk '/:/{$4=""; print}'
on terminal 90% of the time returned errors -128, and some -112 or -2, but they would not be logged to every freeze, just some of them. By the time the
As they may indicate a hardware error, I decided to proceed with the warranty.I bought the Applecare extension when I bought the computer (expiring this summer) so I talked to Applecare about the issue. As there is not an official Apple Store in my town they pointed me to an ASP in my city. They noted all the issues I commented above, gave me a case number to deliver to the ASP so they would have all the information.
I brought the computer to the ASP, gave them the case number (which they totally ignored, the employee seemed oblivious to what a "case number" was) and expected them to find the error. As I noticed the freeze could be sometimes forced via waking up the laptop, I made them a demo. I had ran already the apple hardware test and any hardware tests I was aware of. Etrecheck came out without issues or anything worth mentioning, so I thought they might have specific apple tools to identify hardware error.
They told me they could not find any error on the computer, but that they found errors in the SSD, swapped it with one of theirs to test and no issues found. Good, I thought, at least they found the issue even though all tests run on the SSD by me did not show any trace of it. They charged me 25€ for the service as the SSD was not part of the original computer. As I had been experiencing issues for some time I did not care. I asked them for some kind of report to check the error to provide to the SSD manufacturer, Samsung, as they offer 3-year warranty on SSD's and it had not yet expired. The report said "errors in disk", plain and simple, I asked to talk to the technician for extra info, but he could not remember if it was "corrupted sectors" or something else.
Contacted Samsung, sent my SSD in, and in 4 days I had a new (refurb maybe) SSD same model same size at my door. During those 4 days I reinstalled my old original HDD. As it had a few miles on it (using it as external disk) it was really slow and sometimes it would freeze but the whole system was always dragging, so it could be also failing. Worth mentioning that when swapping disks I noticed the ASP had messed up the position of the small screws on the back of the computer. They did not seem to know there are 4 shouldered screws and 3 regular ones.
I put the new or refurb SSD in, clean install and do some testings. First day everything ok. Proceed to install software. Seems ok. After a couple of days the first freeze and reboot appears. After a couple of PRAM and SMC zaps, events seem to be reduced to a minimum. Even though the system is not completely stable, and I am not quite satisfied with the uncertainty of the freezes (in the middle of a presentation is not the best moment to have one), as it's freezing 1-3 times per week I consider it reasonable.
Time goes on, freezes start to appear again. Sometimes while booting, sometimes on login screen, sometimes on heavy usage sometimes on idle. I still follow all threads related to similar issues, in case a fix appears. All sleep / wake / wifi on - off on sleep tests have been performed.
Now the issue seems to be reduced to two kind of events: random freezes and reboots, and errors while booting. None, and I mean zero of the reboots or freezes has ever had a .crash or any system diagnostic reports related to the hour or even date when the freezes took place. EVER.
While booting, it crashes and I have to hard reset 2-3 times. When freezing, 30% of the time it does not reboot, and gets warmer than idle state but cooler than under heavy load.
I usually zap pram and smc and then it boots normally. But I should not have to be doing that every time I turn it on.
I know its a long post, but it's something I have been following for 5 months now. It's not that I am unaware of different options to solve it. Zapping seems to be the way to go, but still the random freezes interrupt workflow and provoke loss of data.
TL;DR: same freeze and reboots as other people. No discrete GPU to relate it to. Default memory installed, SSD model working on 10.8 and 10.9 with zero issues. All software installation combinations tested. ZERO crash reports on console related to the hour or date of the events. Shutdown causes negative codes, ASP cannot find the issue.
Considering bringing it to Genius Bar, but undermines the purpose of a ASP and if they got the same tools they will not find the issue either.
Appelcare expires in June. Any options I am unaware of? I would relate it to the specific model of SSD under Yosemite if I was the only one experiencing freezes and reboots, which I am not.
Thanks youBoot into Safe Mode. If the problem ceases then you need to remove Virtual Box and the software that installed com.bluecoat.kext.bckd 4.4.1f20. If this does not fix the problem then make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

Early 2011 MBP 13 random reboots (no Kernel Panic logged)
Hi,
Problem Description:
My MacBook Pro randomly reboots at least 1-2 times a day. I cannot find a kernel log because each restart is a double one.
Let me explain the problem further : 1. Im doing something (nothing specific..no specific app) on the mac 2. The screen freezes and becomes unresponsive ( I know a reboot is coming)
3. I get the gray screen which says "Your computer restarted because of a problem..." ...this is followed by the white screen with the apple sign..it loads for a few seconds and it reboots AGAIN..this time i hear the chime...loads into the OS normally ...works until i either shut it down / put it to sleep / another random restart (varies from 1 hour to 6 hours )
Things I've tried :
SMC / PRAM reset
Erase Drive and TimeMachine Restore
Apple Hardware Tests / Diagnostics all pass
Verify / Repair permissions / disk (did this a million times)
Reindexed Spotlight
Erased Drive and did a clean install and MIGRATED files from TimeMachine
Safe Mode ( THIS did not have random reboots...also fyi ..i didn't try this for long)
Logs Data:
Since I don't have the .panic files. I am pasting a chunk of the log before and after the PROBLEM.

IPad 2 16GB iOS 5.1.1 Randomly reboots???
I just got an ipad 2 16GB, brand new I installed the IOS 5.1.1 right when I opened it up. But ever since I turned it on it is now randomly rebooting itself. For no reason, just crashes and then shows the apple sign? What should I do?
First thing I would try is to do a restart of your own, Hold the home button down and at the same time hold down the power button. Wait for the screen to go black and the Apple logo to appear and in a few minutes it should restart.
If you have already done this I would do a reload of the OS from iTunes.
If that doesn't work I would take it to Apple and have them do a refresh of the OS or replace it if there is a hardware problem.
Good luck. -
Help for N900 that randomly reboot and that have s...
DISCLAIMER
A moderator deleted an entire thread with details that have helped many many users with N900 phones that are rebooting because they believed we were discussing debranding N900s..
Firstly, the N900 is not branded..
Secondly, we were discussing changing settings on the device to stop the devices from randomly rebooting.. Something SUGGESTED BY NOKIA on the bugs.maemo.org bug tracker website.
Nothing in this thread will invalidate your warranty and all information is condensed from official Maemo websites.
If your device is randomly rebooting:
RESTART YOUR DEVICE AFTER A RANDOM REBOOT
There is a counter inside your phone that increases by 3 every time it randomly reboots. If this counter reaches 50 (after 17 random reboots in a row) your device will probably stop booting ALL TOGETHER!
To stop your device from completely locking, you must power off your device normally. Use the power button then select "switch off". When you power your device back on, the counter is reset. Remember, if you don't reset your device, it will stop booting.
REPAIRING A DEVICE THAT NO LONGER BOOTS
If your device was randomly rebooting but now fails to boot it may have reached its count limit. When you turn on your device it may stop at the 5 dots loading screen and freeze.
Here's a method for getting your device working again.
Download flasher-3.5:
For Nokia forums staff this is an OFFICIAL PUBLIC NOKIA TOOL. USING THIS TOOL DOES NOT AFFECT THE DEVICE WARRANTY. PLEASE DO NOT DELETE THIS POST AGAIN.
Flasher can be obtained from the Nokia website:
http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/maemo-dev-env-downloads.php
Download and install flasher onto your computer. For more information on using flasher, you can see the maemo page here:
http://wiki.maemo.org/Flasher
Turn off your N900
Remove the battery
Insert the battery.. but leave it off
Plug the USB cable into your computer.. This may not work in ALL ports on your computer. Sometimes ports at the back of the computer work better than those at the front.
Open the keyboard on your N900, press and hold the 'u' button and plug the USB cable into the N900.. keep the u button pressed.
The Nokia logo should appear on your device, a small USB icon should appear in the top right of the N900 screen. The backlight may not light up leaving the screen dark. You can release the u button now
NOW ENABLE R&D MODE TO START THE DEVICE
Use flasher application. On windows 7 this may mean running in windows xp mode
Open a cmd window (start run cmd) then enter these commands:
cd "\program files\maemo\flasher-3.5"
flasher-3.5.exe --enable-rd-mode
Flasher should run for a few seconds then exit.. If it hangs "waiting for suitable device" Try another port on your computer. Try a different computer. Ask questions here. Flasher doesn't always work on all machines
Remove the USB cable from your N900 and turn it on. It should boot up. Note that there is a small spanner icon under the Nokia logo
If your device still does not boot:
Check that the spanner icon is present when you turn the device on. If it is not, the device is not in R&D mode.. Start going through these instructions again
If the spanner logo is present and the device still does not boot, stop.. this process may not help you
Turn the N900 back off
Press and hold the u button on the keyboard and plug the USB cable in. Keep the u button pressed
The Nokia logo should appear on your device, a small USB icon should appear in the top right of the N900 screen. The backlight may not light up leaving the screen dark. You can release the u button now
NOW DISABLE R&D MODE TO START THE DEVICE
In the cmd window on your pc, re-run the flasher command with a different option:
flasher-3.5 --disable-rd-mode
Remove the USB cable and turn the phone back on
CHANGE ENABLE_OFF_MODE TO STOP RANDOM REBOOTS
I have written a tool to help stop the random reboots on N900 devices. This tool issues the following command
echo 0 > /sys/power/enable_off_mode
and updates the /etc/pmconfig file to make the change permanent
To use the tool you will need to install the rootsh package:
http://maemo.org/downloads/product/raw/Maemo5/rootsh/?get_installfile
Now download the fixpm.sh file:
http://chris.intrepid.cx/N900/fixpm.sh
Open an x terminal and type the following command
sudo gainroot
sh MyDocs/.documents/fixpm.sh enable
If you would like to disable the update, you can use the following commands:
sudo gainroot
sh MyDocs/.documents/fixpm.sh disable
Please click the kudos button if you found this helpful and please let me know if you have problems with the instructions, need help with them or if they didn't work

There are some steps you can follow to help stop your phone from rebooting...
Follow the steps in the first post under the section:
CHANGE ENABLE_OFF_MODE TO STOP RANDOM REBOOTS
Open these links on your N900:
Download and install the rootsh package:
http://maemo.org/downloads/product/raw/Maemo5/rootsh/?get_installfile
Download the fix script:
http://chris.intrepid.cx/N900/fixpm.sh
Save it in the Documents folder
Open an X terminal and run these two commands
sudo gainroot
sh MyDocs/.documents/fixpm.sh enable

XServe G5 random reboots (resolved)
We have an xServe G5 that started randomly rebooting and ultimately refused to start at all (completely dead).
I tried a PMU reset, reseated various boards, changed the battery, swapped out RAM, etc. to no avail.
I eventually found a service guide for the G5 which said that if the power supply's output did not show +12V on the connector then it was probably dead. And this power supply showed next to 0V on its 12V outputs. Just for kicks I opened it up (the power supply) but saw nothing obviously wrong -- no burnt components, no blown fuses, etc.
I couldn't find any xServe G5 power supplies on eBay (just the entire kit with the logic board, etc.) but I did eventually find a good reseller of the power supply -- SynapTECH on the web. Ordered a new power supply for $155 delivered, and everything's working fine now as I type this. They also give you a FedEx prepaid mailer to return the old power supply for recycling or perhaps refurbishing.
Hope this helps someone who found themselves in a similar situation ...

Can you send a system profiler export?
Overheating is an option. When was your server last cleaned from accumultion of dust on its heat sinks? Are all the fans working?

1.3 days apart (this time), my iMac is randomly rebooting. I've never been the best at reading this output from the crash. Would someone steer me in the right direction? It is beginning to happen more frequently. Also noticing increased lag/response times in all programs. Thanks!

Random reboots with 975x Platinum v2.1?
As the title says, I have the MSI 975x Platinum v2.1. The system randomly reboots fairly, often, and I'm not sure what could be causing it.
I had this setup for a few weeks, before it locked up overnight and destroyed my memory. Board would halt on the memory initialization during POST, so I sent it back for RMA and now have the replacement. While waiting for the RMA, I bought some memory from a local retailer so I would have something to use. The system would randomly reboot, sometimes in Windows, sometimes while browsing the BIOS menus. I figured the motherboard was damaged too and I sent it back to the retailer for a RMA replacement. I now have the LE version of the board. I also bought a new power supply because I now thought it fried my stuff. Everything put back together, I'm still having random reboots. Here's the system specs:
# Intel Core 2 EE x6800
# MSI 975x Platinum v2.1 LE (BIOS 7.4 official)
# mushkin REDLINE 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000
# BFG Tech BFGR79256GTOCE GeForce 7900GT 256MB GDDR3
# 1x NEC IDE DVDR, 1x Seagate 200GiB IDE, 1x Seagate 80GiB SATA2, 1x Seagate 400GiB SATA1, 1x Seagate 500GiB SATA2
# Windows XP Pro SP2
# Tagan TG-480-U22 ATX 480W, then mushkin HP-580AP ATX12V / EPS12V 580W
Currently, the system can play games for a couple hours with dnetc running in the background. Yet when I leave it running a torrent (or whatever) overnight, I'll wake up and find it rebooted (after like 6 hours of uptime). I've also gotten it to reboot while just browsing web pages for a few minutes. The northbridge heatsink/heatpipe does get pretty hot, and my room does get warm, so I'll try adding a spare fan tonight. Though, I find this unlikely as the system should be working fine at stock speeds/voltages. Other than that, anyone have any suggestions?I was actually using the Tagan in combined mode until I started having problems (ie, when the RAM died). By then, neither combined nor split appeared to have any helpful effect. I do not know if the Tagan was the cause of my problems, or if this is all something (???) else. I suppose I could try it again, but I'd rather not break my newly RMA'ed stuff. The mushkin power supply has 4x 20a 12v rails, but it appears to automatically determine whether they should be combined or split.
Speaking of the 12v rails. I noticed that the BIOS reports varying values for the 12v. I've seen it at 12.3v, 13.0v, 13.7v, and 14.0v. However, the dualcorecenter software in Windows always reports 12.2v - 12.3v. I have no idea which is accurate. -
My MacMini has recently started to do random reboots all of a sudden, and I cant figure out why.
All hardware is Apple genuine.

After upgrading to Yosemite iMac reboots random reboots randomly
After upgrading from Mavericks to Yosemite, my mid-2011, 21.5 inch iMac (1tb HD, 8 gb memory) is plagued with random reboots. There are never any error messages - reboots seem more frequent when my Time Machine external drive is attached. I thought I had solved the problem after reading an article about Chrome browser (which I'd been using) using an inordinate amount of memory & CPU resources, so I switched from using Chrome to Safari. Switching to Safari seemed to resolve the issue yesterday, but today my computer is back to random reboots although it doesn't seem as frequent using Safari (only 3 reboots so far today),
I booted the iMac into Safe Mode & worked for several hours including making a Time Machine backup without any reboots. I've also run a hardware & hard drive check which showed no problems.
So, I'm at a loss -- if I use Safari & keep my Time Machine backup unplugged it seems I can work with only 3 or 4 reboots & hope they don't occur in the middle of some transfer or other work -- at the end of the day when I am finished working, I can attach my external drive & hope the backup completes before a reboots occurs. Very frustrating.
Any suggestions?
Thanks. The following are the messages in the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES log just prior to one of the random reboots that has been plaguing my iMac. These messages were repeated several times in the log. For reference, I have removed the Sophos AntiVirus software from my computer prior to this instance of a random reboot (I see a reference to Sophos in the messages). Also, I had reset the PRAM & SMC settings prior to this last restarts as well.

Random reboots - T410 T510 Win7x64
I have 2 laptops, the T410 and T510, both with windows7 x64. Both suffer from random rebooting. The T410 did blue screen a lot, and a search revealed rolling back to older nvida drivers would solve the problem. Well, it did, mostly. I still get more reboots (Critical errors in the windows logs...event 41, kernel-power), just not nearly as frequent.
My T510 is only a week old, and suffers even worse from rebooting randomly. in this case, there is no .dmp file, no blue screen, it just reboots. The windows logs only reveal that it was a critical error and that the computer restarted. I tried turning off the autorestart, but it still restarts. It can be sitting on for 12 hours and reboot, or it can be once an hour - totally random. It can be while I am working on it, or just stilling idle. This machine has had all the latest driver updates from the lenovo website, and all the microsoft updates. I am running ubuntu live cd to see if a different OS will react differently - so far it runs without rebooting, but the randomness of the event makes me want to continue testing. The only item, I guess, that is not under stress is the hard drive (Hmmm...and the shock detection program....).
I can't imagine, that I - having 2 machines acting the same way - am the only one experiencing this. Any suggestions?
UPDATE!!!!
Thanks for the replies and the links. I have found the cause of the spontaneous rebooting. I have to (somewhat) apologize to Lenovo - not 100% your fault.
I have tracked the problem down to my Maxtor Shared Storage II network storage device. Now, this hard drive backup unit is hardwired to my router, but the laptops are only wirelessly linked to it. In any case, after weeks of adding/removing 1 program at a time and waiting for random reboots, the mystery is solved. Into the trashcan for the Maxtor.
Now, if someone wants to venture a guess how some sort of wirelessly sent network "code" can reboot Lenovo computers without so much as a log file being created (wake-on-lan shut off, magic packet disabled, etc., etc. - tried it all) - I'd be interested in hearing the details. I'm guessing it's a bit of a security issue??? Hardware? Software?http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T400s-random-shutdowns/m-p/144056#M13932

3750-24T-L randomly reboots without a cause
We have a WS-C3750X-24T-L switch that has 2 300W power supplies installed that is randomly rebooting its self about once a week. It is connected to a UPS, we have confirmed that the UPS and line power have not been interrupted at any time when the switch restarts. The logs show the switch was: Last reset from power-on. We have flipped the supplies positions in the switch and it still reboots. I have attached the output from running show tech.
Any ideas what may be going on?Hi,
First off, I am trying to discard bug CSCtw50892, in which the switch shows "power-on" no matter what the actual cause is.
If there is a crash or anything, this bug does not allow us see the actual last reset reason.
Could you reload the switch via console out of business hours?
Switch#reload
Proceed with reload? [confirm] <<< (press enter)
Thereafter, you should see the following when typing "show ver"
Router uptime is 3 days, 18 hours, 39 minutes
System restarted by [reload cause]
System restarted by reload or system returned to ROM by reload
Let me go through the show tech and get back to you.
Kind regards,

Hi,
I've done a search and read some previous posts, and cannot work out why my N900 is randomly rebooting.
I have manually restarted my phone and checked the boot count is reset to 0
I have attempted doing a nokia software updater firmware update and it confirms i'm on the latest firmware (10.2010.19.1) and i've used the app updater and updated all apps. It has happened before i enabled the extras-devel repository, so I doubt the fault lies there.
Since i restarted the device prior to running "cat /proc/bootreason" i can't find out the reason why it rebooted, but i will update this post as soon as it does it again.
I recieved this phone from Optus Australia, and is running a number of apps from both the ovi store and the app manager. The only apps i have installed from the extras-devel repository are unrar and unzip apps, although i did note that it updated a few other apps at the same time, like flashlight.
Anyone else having issues, know what it could be, or does it look like i'm going to have to flash the device?Ok, I've reflashed the phone with the latest firmware, installed the maemo 5 update, installed a number of apps, and have NOT enabled the extras-dev repo. I even installed titan kernel as i've been told that has fixed a number of errors on these devices.
I then noticed it restarting itself again, the bootreason was sw_rst, and the dmesg log looks a little more interesting this time. It seems to continually be "disabling unused clock" for different variables, before it says "Bootup reason: sw_rst" and from that point onwards it looks normal
Not sure why ">" didnt work as well this time, it seems to all be on one line unfortunately.
I've also added the output for "cat /var/lib/dsme/stats/*" to this post
Any help is appreciated - otherwise i might return the phone for warranty repair and hope to get a new one
