Rate and Review Comments Broken 8/6 to 8/19

At the bottom of the articles and tutorials is a Rate and Review Comments box. We, the tutorial writers, try to respond to all tutorial questions or problems submitted using the Comments box.
The mechanism for gathering the comments was broken from 8/6 to 8/19. If you submitted a question or problem during that time, can you please resubmit it if you would still like a response

  • Tutorial Rate and Review Box Broken

At the bottom of each of our Sun Java Studio Creator tutorials is a Rate and Review box where you can rate the tutorial and submit comments or questions. The responses that you have sent to us are extremely valuable. We have made many improvements based on the feedback that you send to us using the Rate and Review box.
Unfortunately, this mechanism broke about one month ago and the Rate and Review responses are going into a black hole, never to see the light of day. After repeated requests to fix this, we finally got word that they are not going to fix it. Eventually, they will move to some other mechanism. When that happens, we will let you know. In the meantime, don't bother with the Rate and Review box. If you have suggestions, problems, or questions, you can submit them to us by going to http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/learning/tutorials/index.jsp and clicking on the link to the feedback form.

  • Portfolios: Review, Commenting, and Approval possible?

Is it possible to do reviewing, commenting, and approval for a PDF portfolio document?  We were wanting to send out our deliverables to a client using the Portfolio feature to create one crisp document with all of our items inside of it, but it seems that the portfolio view doesn't have the same <Comment> tab that a normal PDF comes with.
    Regards,
    Scott

No, reviewing and commenting is not allowed on Portfolios. You need to open individual PDFs inside the portfolio and initiate review or perform commenting on them.

  • How to rate and give review for the product in SharePoint Contoso demo site by the customer/user from publishing site?

    Hi,
I am new to SharePoint, and am working on Contoso demo site.
I want to know where to give star rating and review for the product in SharePoint Contoso demo site. Even after spending enough hours i didn't find solution for this problem. All the answers i got was changing the List/Library settings -> Rating settings,
if i follow that, i get the rating column displayed in my catalog site. How can i bring it on my publishing site and let the customers give rating or review for the product from publishing site. Is there any OOTB feature in sharepoint or it shoul be customized.
    Thanks in advance.
    Akshaya

Are you using the Content Search Web Part?  Just tweaking that once the source library has had the rating column applied should work.  Have you tried this?

  • Acrobat v 9 pro unable to see review &  comments button

Using standard acrobat 5 SDK we have build an extension plugin for loading annotations when opening a document in IE browser, and similarly on click of save it stores the annotations back. This works fine with acrobat 6.0 pro but in 8 and 9 its not working. In 9.0, we do not see the review & comments when we open the plugin in IE. But we are able to open existing annotations and edit existing comments. We need to know what API changes are done between 6 and 8. If any of the 5.x SDK has been desupported and hwo do we get the comments button comeup in IE.

    Hi gmcshave,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your new MacBook Pro; I know printer config issues can be frustrating. It sounds like you have been on the right track in troubleshooting this issue. If you are still having issues adding your wireless printer to your Mac, you may want to double-check the steps outlined in the following article (apologies if you have already done so):

  • Acrobat 9.0 Shared Review COMMENTS VANISH MYSTERIOUSLY

Has anyone had a problem with comments created on one day simply vanishing the next?
    Windows XP 2002 SP1
    Acrobat 9 Pro
    Acrobat Reader 9
    Acrobat 8 Standard
    How we start the review:
We use Acrobat 9 Pro to create a manual shared review. This creates a review pdf in the same shared network directory as the original pdf. (I saw in an Acrobat 8 entry that this may not be good practice.) In Windows explorer, we create a shortcut file from the review file. Then we drag the shortcut file into a new Lotus Notes database that we created for storing and organizing links, and to send auto-notifications at different review milestones. We used to send the link via Notes mail, but users lose them. Users then launch the shortcut, which opens the review file. Sometimes we, the review creators open files directly from Tracker.
    The problem...
occurs after a day or two. After creating comments, at least two of the reviewers opened the document the following day, but the comments had disappeared. I watched one reviewer open the document. The "Welcome Back" window listed the reviewers and showed the normal new/total comments. After a few seconds, THE TOTAL COMMENTS FOR ONE REVIEWER RESET TO ZERO as we watched. The comments were not in the review file. It seems that comments are normally stored inside the review files instead of in auxiliary .fdf files as they once were, or in .xml files as I saw in a recent example with Acrobat 9 on a review I restarted.
A possibly related problem occurs sometimes when trying to close a file, even when no comments are added: A message states that there are unpublished comments and offers a publish, delete, cancel, and one other button. After clicking publish, another messages states that the file is locked. This is an endless loop and Acrobat will not close without going to the Task Manager.
I also submitted this as a bug report to Adobe. Has anyone found a solution? Need help. Reviewers are losing hours of work.
    Thanks,
    Phil

    Hi Vikas,
We began saving the files locally and this seemed to sort out the confusion with comments disappearing and reappearing, etc.
There are still some rough spots you may be interested in -
    1. My teammate, Russ initiated a file and sent me the link (which is a Windows shortcut file with a path to the shared document). I opened the link and the shared file opened. However I was not prompted to save it immediately as you described in step 5 above. The save prompt only appears when closing the file. So, when the user first starts working on the file it is on the shared copy.
    2. While the file was still open the first time, I created a couple of comments and clicked publish. A message appeared that I had not seen before: "1 published - 1 queued." I could still add comments, but the publish button did not become active and the check button did not respond. It was like the check/publish functions locked up but not the rest of the program. I was able to save the file locally. When I reopened the local file, the check message said 3 messages were being added (Russ published these) checking again deleted the comments, then checking again restored them. Since then, as long as we opened the local versions, commenting seemed to function normally. The key here is that opening the local copy is not enforced by the program. The program relies on users to function a certain way and does not inform them of the consequences. If Reader or Tracker knew whether a bona fide local copy existed and warned if an attempt to open the network copy was made, many of these issues would go away.
    3. Some other concerns:
    a. When a link is sent to users, there is no guarantee that they will only use it once and discard it. If they don't discard it, they will continually open the shared doc, not the local copy. When our users get busy, they take the path of least resistance, which is to find the original link and open it, rather than hunting down a file to open. In Acrobat 6 this was never a problem. Users always linked to the shared document; each user's comments were stored in outboard files (fdf) the integrity of the shared doc and users comments was never in question. We did hundreds of documents this way. Of course, everyone had 6 Standard or higher, not reader.
    b. When closing the document, Acrobat prompts to save the file. Clicking Save produces a Save AS window each time. Shouldn't this be a Save box? When users enter and close a document multiple times they must stop and decide whether to overwrite the file each time. Conversely, if there are unpublished comments and you try to close, there is a Save Draft button, which seems to save over the local file without asking. This seems backwards. If I'm editing an Indesign document and I click save, it just saves. If I want to save a variation, I click Save AS. (FYI, on my pc, Acrobat prompted to save the file in C:\temp; on Russ's pc, it prompted for \MyDocuments.)
    c. Tracker is not as easy to find as other Acrobat functions. I could not find a Tracker button to add to the toolbar. I believe that if Tracker could be selected to turn on at program start (or even start as a separate program), the users would more likely open the correct (local) file. All that users would be required to know is Start Acrobat, read links. The link they need would be visible immediately.
I hope this gives you our perspective in the spirit of improving the product.

  • Maximum audio sample rate and bit depth question

Anyone worked out what the maximum sample rates and bit depths AppleTV can output are?
I'm digitising some old LPs and while I suspect I can get away with 48kHz sample rate and 16 bit depth, I'm not sure about 96kHz sample rate or 24bit resolution.
If I import recordings as AIFFs or WAVs to iTunes it shows the recording parameters in iTunes, but my old Yamaha processor which accepts PCM doesn't show the source data values, though I know it can handle 96kHz 24bit from DVD audio.
It takes no more time recording at any available sample rates or bit depths, so I might as well maximise an album's recording quality for archiving to DVD/posterity as I only want to do each LP once!
If AppleTV downsamples however there wouldn't be much point streaming higher rates.
I wonder how many people out there stream uncompressed audio to AppleTV? With external drives which will hold several hundred uncompressed CD albums is there any good reason not to these days when you are playing back via your hi-fi? (I confess most of my music is in MP3 format just because i haven't got round to ripping again uncompressed for AppleTV).
No doubt there'll be a deluge of comments saying that recording LPs at high quality settings is a waste of time, but some of us still prefer the sound of vinyl over CD...
    AC

I guess the answer to this question relies on someone having an external digital amp/decoder/processor that can display the source sample rate and bit depth during playback, together with some suitable 'demo' files.

  • Reviewer comments not showing up on my copy

    Good morning, all
I've invited a reviewer to an Acrobat.com based review. She's able to open the file via the invitation, make comments, and Publish Comments (successfully, by all indications)
However, I don't see her updated comments on my copy (the _review.pdf version) and Check for New Comments doesn't retrieve her new copies.
I've tried closing and reopening the review copy and the original copy, and I am able to successfully post my comments and retrieve them to my copy as well.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

  • Including table and column comment in the Data Modeler

    Hi all,
I used Oracle's SQL Developer Data Modeler (Version 3.0.0.665) and created a data model for my project. I e-mailed a PDF format of the data model to our Systems Analyst. She asked if I could re-create the data model and include table and column comments. Is this a possibility and if so how is this done?
    Thank you for your input,
    Seyed

    Hi Kent,
Using the information you provided and Oracle’s Working with SQL Developer Modeler Reporting I did the following:
    1) Created a Reporting Schema User
1.1) Using my Oracle 10g Personal Edition, I created a new user and gave him DBA administrative privileges
    2) Exported Relational Design to Reporting Schema
    2.1) Opened the Relational Design
2.2) Exported it to the Reporting Schema. Note, I never got a message ‘Design has been exported successfully’.
    3) Reviewed the Report Results
I think exporting the relational design was not successful, and didn’t get any error messages. Had step 2 completed successfully, I would have reviewed the Report Results in SQL Developer. By the way, I know I have marked this topic as closed, but would like to learn your method too.
    Thank you for your help,
    Seyed

  • Adding user review comments to each item

I am creating my site in Muse and then will be publishing to BC. My website will be have a least 7,000 items on it. I want to be able to have user review comments for EACH item. will I be able to do this using BC? I am guessing every item would have to have it's own page and then a module added to it. I am looking at adding 7,000 modules unless there is a faster way. Thank's in advance all

Yes. Please have a look at the following article about the comments module http://kb.worldsecuresystems.com/758/bc_758.html
Also, you can integrate Facebook comments as per http://kb.worldsecuresystems.com/851/cpsid_85118.html

  • Initiating Shared or Online PDF Review & Commenting from ES

Does anyone know if it is possible to initiate a Shared or Online Review / Commenting process from LiveCycle ES ?
I have a process where at a mid point the 'doucment' (e.g. a form) needs to be sent to 10-20 different people to get their input before the process is finalised.
I know how to convert the form to a Flat PDF and ARE it with Commenting Enabled and eMail it etc - but not how to initiate a Shared / Online review.
It's easy to do from Acrobat 8 manually but I can't see any 'Review/Comment' type facility in ES.
    Thanks - Stuart

    Hi
We have a component which allows voting.
    See:
    http://avoka.dnsalias.com/confluence/display/Public/Group+Voting+in+LiveCycle
    For more details.
It supports arbitrary numbers of voters, and has several different ways of "counting the votes".

  • Need clarification from experts regarding few code review comments received

    Hi,
I know that this is a very trivial question to post onto in here but just wanted to double check with all the experts out there. I was lately given few code review comments by one of the senior developers in my project which I couldnt completely agree upon. I thought to seek further inputs from the experts out here.
    1) Consider the SQL query below:
SELECT  orgeh orgtx FROM t527x INTO TABLE ch_org_unit_descs
FOR ALL ENTRIES IN ch_org_unit_list WHERE sprsl = gc_english AND
                                                             orgeh = ch_org_unit_list-orgeh AND
                                                             endda = gc_endda.
I was instructed not to pass any constant values (like how am passing to SPRSL & ENDDA) as shown above. The code reviewer said that this would result in poor performance & that am supposed to perform a DELETE upon the resulting internal table instead. I did try read around & search the available documentation but could not come up with any similar note anywhere. Can the experts please comment on the credibility of this statement?
    2) Also say I am writing a CASE statement then if I say as WHEN 'ATT' does this mean that am hard coding 'ATT' and that I should have gone for a constant instead? Whilst the code reviewer said that I was hard coding text  I would have to admit that I haven't ever declared a constant for handling any of the WHEN statements in any of my projects till date. Is this a bad practice from my end or do you think its like imposing double standards?
    Regards,
    Uday

I second both Sandra & Rob on their views on FAE. As Rob has suggested do a runtime analysis or SQL trace and compare the DB execution times.

Using constants for any literal used in the code makes it difficult to understand. I have seen codes with something like CALL TRANSACTION c_fb01 or AUTHORITY OBJECT c_s_dataset.
I always make it a point to declare constants for organizational or functional values which might change in future. Declaring constants for elements which are specific to my code is definitely a NO-NO for me. Comments are welcome on this.
