    Hi,
    this is RAC?
I dont think that db was down. In aler.log isnt any information about stopping backgroud processes.
There should be samething like "shutting down instance" or "alter database close"
    There was only reconfiguration started.
    Regards,
    Tom

  • One of the database is down in streaming environment

I have scenario where one of the database in (two different database) streaming environment is unavailable due to nework/link/database maintenance purpose. Since my other database is up and running and DML/DDL operations are in process how can I avoid following error
    SQL> insert into test values ('eee', 'code e');
    1 row created.
    SQL> commit;
    commit
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-02050: transaction 5.23.8870 rolled back, some remote DBs may be in-doubt
ORA-02068: following severe error from OTHER_DOWN_DATABASE
    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
    ============================================
Can I change some parameters in DBMS_STREAMS_ADM Package or any other packages to avoid above situation

    Thanks for the reply.
I am getting the same error even If I just do select on the table which I have for streaming
    SQL> select * from test@dbtest;
    select * from test@dbtest
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-02068: following severe error from DBTEST ---destination database
    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel.
Q- Wich database is down? Is it the source database or the destination database?
For now I am testing with keeping down destination database.
Q- If it's the source db, just stop the capture. That's all you really have to do.
A- This can be good for planned maintenance, but how about unplanned outage or sudden problem (with networks/links or all of a sudden I can not stream my data changes to destination database).
Q--The error you're describing is unclear.... Do you get that error immediately when you issue the insert and the commit? That sound very very strange to me because streams does asynchronous replication... You would not get such an error for db down from my opinion.
A-- First time, I got this error when I updated a row and then tried to commit while my destination database was down.
Q- It looks like the problem has nothing to do with streams but rather a distributed transaction problem (2pc)...
A- If it is transaction problem should I be getting similar error while selecting from destination table, see the above error

  • Batch risk analysis job while database is down

    Hello,
Can I run RAR batch risk analysis job while MaxDB database is down in GRC AC 5.3. Our AS Java database is MaxDB.
Please note that when the MaxDB database crashed, while the batch risk analysis job was running and then it completed successfully, while the database was still down.
My query is that does batch risk analysis job, not require AS JAVA database to be up & running?
    Thanks

    Hi Alpesh/ Frank,
I did check the Background Job Spool file location and Alert Log file location configured in RAR - Misc, I found those directories to be empty.
Actuallay the configuration has been set to Java Logger.
Then I checked the background job log from RAR and found out the following information, seen below. (The log file is very long, I have given few lines of it below).

When I checked the status of the Background job, the Batch risk analysis job broken into multiple jobs using User ID Ranges was completed.
1- My query is from the above log file, is there anything wrong?
2- If there is something wrong, then why is the status of Background job shown as completed (at a time when MaxDB database was down due to memory issues)?

  • Database shut down and file systems are still busy

We have been copying our production DB over to a reporting DB for the last 3 years. The process we use on the reporting database is: shutdown the DB ABORT, restart it, then shutdown immediate. Then we umount the file systems and copy the production over using a Flex Clone on the NETAPP, remount the file systems and start the database back up. We used to shut down the listener which does not share the oracle binaries on the unix system but lately have left the listener up because other DB's use it. Every so often after shutting down the report database in prep for the copy, the file system that contains the binaries is busy and we can't unmount the ORACLE binaries.
So my question is how does the listener know if the database is up or down? Is it reading something on the volumes we're trying to unmount to see if the database is up? We have users that schedule jobs in odd hours and was wondering if them hitting the listener and even though the database is down it's making the file systems busy?
    Any help is appreciated.

Listener is NEVER involved with any ongoing packet exchange between client & the DB.
Listener takes original connection request & if the DB is up passes the request to the DB.
After this initial handoff, the listener has NO more involvement with packet exchange between DB & client

  • JDBC messages processed even though connection was down

    Hi,
We have an XI to JDBC flow.
A couple of days ago the database to which the JDBC connection goes was down, but all messages that the system tried to send to this database appear as processed in SXMB_MONI. Only the acknowledgement contains following error:
com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: Error when attempting to get processing resources: com.sap.aii.af.service.util.concurrent.ResourcePoolException: Unable to create new pooled resource: DriverManagerException: Cannot establish connection to URL 'jdbc:as400://192.168.197.10:446/WMSLIB': SQLException: The application requester cannot establish the connection. (connect timed out)
This is very annoying since we can't reprocess the messages with status "processed", even though they are not processed at all.
    Any ideas?

    > com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: Error when attempting to get processing resources: com.sap.aii.af.service.util.concurrent.ResourcePoolException: Unable to create new pooled resource: DriverManagerException: Cannot establish connection to URL 'jdbc:as400://192.168.197.10:446/WMSLIB': SQLException: The application requester cannot establish the connection. (connect timed out)
    >
Above error message comes when your JDBC channel trying to connect to Data base, but connection not established ,because Connection was down.
in this case none of the messages will be processed.

    Raj

  • Callconnector database goes down every hour

We have been running callconnector with no problems for the past 1 year, as of last week the database goes down pretty much hourly. The only change we made around the same time as this started was we changed admin passwords on all our servers / routers / switches due to a senior admin being let go from the company. Any help anyone can give would be great as we are a small non-profit company.
Our versions that we are running are CM Version 2.0.0.40 - Server Version 2.01.010
To get it back running I just have to click the database server button within configuration manager and it will work for another hour. The windows services don't seem to be affected only the services within the configuration manager. We are running this on a 2008 R2 VM environment.

I remembered it used to say 0.91, but now says 88.5, so I typed the following two lines in Terminal:
    sudo /bin/launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.clamav.freshclam.plist
    sudo /bin/launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/net.clamav.freshclam.plist
    Then I rebooted once more.
When it came back up, I checked the Server Admin Virus Update log and it now says:
    Current working dir is /var/clamav
freshclam daemon 0.91.2 (OS: darwin8.10.0, ARCH: ppc, CPU: powerpc)
    Max retries == 3
ClamAV update process started at Mon Dec 3 13:53:30 2007

See the FAQ at http://www.clamav.net/support/faq for an explanation.
    Querying current.cvd.clamav.net

    Software version from DNS: 0.91.2
    main.cvd version from DNS: 44
main.cvd is up to date (version: 44, sigs: 133163, f-level: 20, builder: sven)
    daily.cvd version from DNS: 4984
I assume this is what it is supposed to say now. ClamD (as of right now) is not taking up any resources, so maybe it will be better now. I will keep this topic posted of any changes.
Is there any recommended commercial products for OS X Server regarding anti-virus and anti-spam instead of using clamav? Also what command in Terminal will force a restart of clamd? I also saw a reference to a "rebuild of ClamAV" in another topic. How do you "rebuild" ClamAV?
Thanks for the help so far,
    G

  • DBUA - Utility - Database is Down, but really running???

Cannot get past the Database selection screen because it reports that our databases our down. I think there is a problem with the Connect string, it shouldn't use a normal connect string

    now it is working..
Yesterday i was tried few options which was in forum' replies. One of that is dbsnmp password change. i changed to some password yesterday. now i cleaned up the space issues and etc but got metric collection error. then i went metric error collection link and found username/password invalid.. then i realised and changed to actual on which i have given during installation.. now it is showing correct status..
    Thanks.

  • Weblogic Connection pool active even database listener down

Just wanted to check if sometime noticed this.
Today.. In production our Database listener was down and connection pools in weblogic were still working fine. But, when tried making a explicit call to DB it throws exception "The Network Adapter could not establish the connection"..
Couple of days back our production database was restarted. Sill weblogic connection pool was active without restart.
    Any info. is appreciate..
    Thanks

    Hi Jung,
There is no timeout current that you can set on the connection pool. It will
be in a future release of WebLogic

    Yes I know that part.

set TestConnectionsOnReserve="true" in the pool and you should be all
    set.

I am currently using WLS 6.0 SP2 RP2 with jdbc thin oracle driver.
What is the timeout setting on weblogic connection pool?
I would like to set max number of seconds waiting for reply to connect
    to
    a
database so that it does not wait too long before realizing that it isdown.
Also if there is a setting that can be configured, is it jdbc api
    implementation or weblogic specific?
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to detect if  Database is down when client application is running?

    Hi,
I have a oracle Forms application accessing a remote database. While doing processing, application has to post some data in a remote database.
As of now, when the Forms client is running and remote database is down, the client hangs.
I have tried Creating a timer before remote database procedure call in the FORMS Trigger and checking in the when_timer_expired trigger, if a specific duration has passed or not. This doesn't work as timer fires only after the remote procedure call completes and other SQL statements in the FORMS trigger where i have created the timer completes.
I Know sqlcode -3113 can be of help.
Hope someone can help me with a solution/suggestion.
    Thanks
    Hari

    interesting situation.
what about issuing the select count(*) into cnt from dual, if cnt>0 then do post.
better to setup the remote database has fail-over to another node.

To have  EVERYTHING on a New Computer...
    From your OLD computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

  • I had a brand new Mac book pro one month old and the hard drive died. Right before it died I was down loading pictures off a memory card and now they aren't on my memory card! They are wedding pictures I took for a friend and irreplaceable! Please help!!

I had a one month old Mac book pro and the hard drive fried! I was down loading a friends wedding pictures when it stopped working and started heating up. I plugged it in and turned it off as it was making a clicking noise. When I turned it back on the was a grey box with a question mark and nothing else. When I took my memory card out the pictures were gone. I took it back to best buy where I bought it and they said it was dead, needed a new hard drive and all my info is lost! Is there any way to get back those irreplaceable wedding pictures?

There are some data recovery programs (software). I would look into that for the images on the card. When files are deleted, the files are still there, just the headers are removed. That being said, a format of the card or new files written to the card can overwrite deleted files.
The physical hard drive could be thousands of dollars to forensically save, with no guarantee.
