Just wanted to let the people that posted in here know that since making the switch to Windows 7, I haven't had any of the aforementioned problems with x240. While it has only been 5 days, I usually had at least one of those other problems occur every single day while using Windows 8. This is a poor fix as this should not be occurring at all, but it is a fix at least if you are experiencing these problems. Now if I could find a solution to keep the laptop from crashing when picked up from the bottom left hand side due to connection being lost with the SSD. That one is truly ridiculous.

EXTREME lag after installing Windows 8.1 pro via / Bootcamp assistant

Hey guys, today I've literally been through **** trying to get this game working on my MacBook Pro.
I've basically gone out & bought Windows 8, created a partition on my hardrive (of my MacBook Pro) & installed it into that partition using Apples 'Bootcamp assistant'. After installing the operating system I also loaded the drivers which were given to me by Apples 'Bootcamp assistant'.
I now have the game on the Windows 8 (on my MacBook) which is a £2000 machine... I have got to the menu & experienced extreme lag to the point where I've even managed to turn down all my video settings & it is still lagging a lot despite my high-end computer hardware - here is my computer http://store.apple.c...B/A&step=config#
I have tried running the game on this website http://www.systemrequirementslab.com & everything is great but it says I don't have the required 512MB of video RAM... It says I have 256MB. This is complete ********? I believe I have 2GB of GDDR5 video RAM. It also says that my graphics card is called 'Microsoft Basic Display Adapter'. So I believe this is where the issue lies. My theory is for some reason one of the drivers which I have installed which was given to me by the Bootcamp assistant is messing with me.
This is literally all the information I can possibly provide, does anybody know how I could fix this?

If the underlying hardware was exposed correctly by the CSM-BIOS when Windows was installed, your Device Manager should look like this.
If the Windows installer did not see any devices as your screen indicates, Windows will use generic software-based drivers which will be very slow and painful.
Rudegar ... I think the Windows installer did not see any hardware, otherwise there should be HW with yellow triangles with exclamation marks.

Wireless mouse and Keyboard Issue after closing the lid - external display

Can anyone give any insight. Recent purchase of a new Late 2008 15" MBP. I have connected it to an external 24" Apple monitor on my desk and use a wireless mouse and wireless keyboard on my desk top. I have configured the laptop to wake on bluetooth devices. So here is the problem: The laptop when the lid is up recognizes the bluetooth keyboard and mouse. I close the lid/screen. Laptop powers down... the after several seconds I move the mouse and the laptop comes alive... But after that there are no bluetooth devices attached. When I use the mouse, I get "connection lost" with a white figure of the mighty mouse on the screen. The wireless keyboard is not there and I have to open the lid and manually find the mouse and reconnect. The keyboard seems to work however....
Apple..... any thoughts..... anyone?????

Hi Stentdoc; I'm thinking, 'connection lost ~= sorta low AA batteries in the Mighty Mouse? (I would put in fresh AA batteries in the mouse and keyboard, to eliminate as an issue that the 'connection lost' is due to low batt voltage; that this is causing the failure to wake.) ... then, in System Preferences > Hardware > Energy Saver, settings for Power Adapter > Sleep, set to "never" for "Put the computer to sleep when it is inactive for ..." to eliminate that as a conflict when trying to wake with bluetooth from sleep induced by closing the lid ...
Check your current "Sleep" setup (I left my MBP as "3")
go to Utilities > Terminal
After you launch Terminal, the first step is to determine which sleep mode your Mac is currently using. You can both view and change the sleep mode using the Unix program pmset. To see your current settings, type (or, copy and paste)
pmset -g | grep hibernatemode
press 'enter'
You should see something like this:
$ pmset -g | grep hibernatemode
hibernatemode 3
So your machine is using mode 3 ... thanks to the documentation for the handy Deep Sleep Dashboard widget, which puts your machine immediately into hibernation mode (so you don’t have to yank all the power sources to invoke it):
* 0 - Old style sleep mode, with RAM powered on while sleeping, safe sleep disabled, and super-fast wake.
* 1 - Hibernation mode, with RAM contents written to disk, system totally shut down while “sleeping,” and slower wake up, due to reading the contents of RAM off the hard drive.
* 3 - The default mode on machines introduced since about fall 2005. RAM is powered on while sleeping, but RAM contents are also written to disk before sleeping. In the event of total power loss, the system enters hibernation mode automatically.
also, I enabled this (to change back, input "lidwake 1":
go to Utilities > Terminal
type in sudo pmset lidwake 0 then "enter"
it will ask for your password. type it in, that's it!
Now, when your computer is sleeping with the lid closed, when you open the lid nothing happens until you press any key ... nice: keeps it off when accidentally opened, like in a backpack?

EXTREME LAG after latest update, unable to playback.

I've been rocking on Premiere CC for many months and ran the latest update on my way out of the studio Friday, coming in today on Monday I am unable to even edit anything due to extreme lag. I press play on a timeline and then it may be minutes before I get control of Premiere again and I see a frame every 15secs. All other apps run fine. What could be the issue and how can I fix it ASAP?

Wifi problems and 3G/4G after 5.1.1 iPhone4s

i have realy problems if i have the WIFI enabled and i come out of the WIFIit will not work in the 4G mode and vice versa...
i have to reboot the iphone and disable the WIFI than it works.
i saw many users have the same problem and also with bluetooth....seems there is some with the new iOS 5.1.1

Firefox 11 freezes and is lagging after few minutes. Youtube Videos are laggy while the sound is normal. Can you help me to solve this problem?

If I restart my browser everthing works just fine for at least 5 minutes. When I watch several youtube videos, the lag comes back and the video starts to freeze aboud every second for just a faction of a second. The sound is stil played properly it only affects the graphics...
After about 10 minutes watching videos the whole browser gets laggy . Sometimes when I type the fonts appear only about a second later. Scrolling is also affected. Some minutes later everything is back to normal but it't not allways like that?!
I don't know what to do, I allready restarted with add-ons disabled but I didn't notice any difference. The drivers of my ati graphics card are up-to-date and I only have the problem with firefox, chrome works perfectly.

X240 wireless problems

Let me start by addressing the problem. My wireless connection will at times drop connection with the network, either by stating that I have "limited access" to the network or that no internet access is available. The way that I have been solving this problem is by disconnecting from the network and then reconnecting, often requiring me to go through "Troubleshooting". After troubleshooting, Windows tells me that it fixed a problem with the "access point" and then I am reconnected. Needless to say, this is unacceptable to be occuring once every 30 minutes or so. I need a stable internet connection... quite within reason I think.
In device manager, I go to network adapters and the device listed is Intel Wireless N-7260. The drivers installed for it are version 16.1.3.1. It says the date of the drivers are from August 1st. I have been seeing a lot of posts about wireless lan drivers missing on the product, as well as bluetooth drivers? I don't know specifically if my computer is missing these drivers, but I really would appreciate any feedback in resolving this problem. If I can't get a reliable connection to the internet, I am going to have to return the product. Thank you.

I also have a tp link 3g router (aside from the other two tp link routers i use at work and home) that I use when i'm travelling and the same thing happens. I connect, then wifi disconnects, then other devices are unable to connect already.
I also use tp link routers at home and another at the office. After upgrading the LAN drivers, it seems to have solved the problem with my home and office routers but the problem still happens on my 3g router.

M73 start problems and corrupted registry after windows updates

we are a Lenovo reseller, having had not a lot troubles so far with M72 models in the past.
Since M73 the problems have dramatically exploded. We had so far 5 machines, on which we had to run the Factory Recovery as the OS won't start or was corrupted. It appears that especially after a windows updates the chances of a not starting Windows is very high - Windows repair mostly fails.
Is this a known issue? Does others have the same troubles? Any chance to fix this?
We are currently reviewing all Lenovo installations and will decide whether we still want to sell them or not. Our business clients are not happy about such an instable installation.

We purchased many M72e's and recently appx 100 m73 standard builds and 100 recent custom M73 ax builds, we are regretting this right now. We are scrambling to try to keep these machines functioning properly. At first they seem good but they have tons of issues we are discovering, out fo our new 100, so far we have 10 dead machines, another bunch that have usb issues even after doing bios updates. Many pc's have issues with usb devices not working in one port but will in another. I believe lenovo has a serous problem on their hands with these machines they don't realize or want to admit.
Being the reseller puts you in a bad spot with a product like this. I believe this is a huge liability to anyone at this point in time, I will be going back to our reseller to deal with lenovo b/c I didn't get the help I was looking for with them directly. GOOD LUCK!

BT Home Hub 4 Wireless Problems and My Findings

Hi,
I have got BT Broadband 2 days back, and provided Home Hub 4.
I have found the speed to bad most time, even connected to directly modem over wire.
Today even not connecting some time.
Then after tested in all the way, I have found the reason is My Hub 4 modem placed closed TV and when I switched on TV, then net speed go down (too slow, even take hrs to open google search page) and today even not open any website and shows as loading page hrs. When I have switched off TV(just done from remote, TV still connected to Power) and opening websites with good speed and speed in speed test also showing good speed..
I have never faced this issue with previous modem (from Non-BT provider) and Hub 4 modem is placed same place.
Does any one have encounter this issue?

Wireless mouse and keyboard lag. running no programs.

hello. im having issues with my brand new Microsoft 2000 mouse and keyboard. iam running a brand new week old hp pavilion desktop computer with windows 8.1. i have tried updating drivers and ive tried unplugging and plugging the receiver back in and nothing
seems to help. i have performed multiple scans of my computer with my anti virus and there is no infections detected. The computer had this problem right out of the box.

Whenever I reboot it in the morning, or when its been sleeping for some time the keyboard and trackpack misses the first letters or takes about 5 seconds to register - to actually start working. This is NOT a Retina = therefore I don't think the Power Nap fix will work like on the Retina...... Please if anyone can assist it will be greatly appreciated.

Major problems and vital errors after downloading

left the mac downloading from itunes (through firefox) and did not return for a few hours - when i did i found a program called Talkback had installed itself, and the computer seemed to have crashed. i restarted to find a large number of vital errors:
1: finder is non-responsive
2: all documents from hard drive have disappeared/unable to see anything
3:the programmes themselves are working - i can access the internet on firefox for example- (as i am now)
4: when i open Safari this programme TALKBACK appears on the dock (and error messages pop up). it cannot be dragged to the trash
5: all drop down menus are blank (including apple menu), all dialogue boxes are blank
6: all typing apart from in specific apps(ie here!) is blank
7; all desktop files and folders have disappeared
8: fonts have changed style
What can i do? luckily i have everything on an external hard drive, but most of the computer is unusable. What is Talkback and what has it done?
Any help GRATEFULLY recieved.
p.s- i have already posted on this topic but did not give a good title to get attention!

It would really be good if you had the original disks so you could run the Apple hardware test. You can call Apple support and if they still have sets available, they're around $60. You could also buy the TechTool Pro utility which does the same type of hardware testing, as well as has pretty good disk repair functionality, better than what the Apple Disk Utility can handle. When the Apple Disk Utility won't repair a hard drive, Disk Warrior or TechTool Pro are the two choices for repairs.

Trackpad, Keyboard, and Mouse lag after wake up.

Sometimes, I run my MacBook Pro's battery until my computer goes to sleep.
When I plug my computer back in, and it wakes back up to its previous state, the trackpad and keyboard become unresponsive for sometime (Maybe 1.5 mins at most). It's not a huge issue as my computer is still 100% operable when things start to respond again, but it's kinda annoying.
Can anyone describe what is happening?

It could be due to the fact that as the computer charges and comes "back from the dead", it takes a minute to charge it to the point where it has enough power to power your trackpad, keyboard, and mouse. It needs to devote a lot of the newfound power to the screen, which I'm sure you know takes up a lot of battery. Does putting down the screen brightness when you start to charge from 0% batter help?

Mac air screen flickers and shuts down after startup

I recently loaded Lion on my 2011 mac air. After a week the computer started to have slow startup's, now when i turn on the computer the screen flickers and immediatly shuts down. How can i fix this problem.

X11 Problems - Apps wont engage after startup

Hi folks,
I've updated my X11. The first step was to download the newest Developer Kit and then I've updated X11 via "Software Update"
Changes:
Open Office 2.04 was running on the "old" X11, on the new, it loads up to the half, then it stops loading, the loading-buttons shuts down and the program OpenOffice is'nt any longer shown as "active".
So, what did I made wrong?
Never change a running system. Solving this problem might help a few thousand mac users out there using OpenOffice

try this from Applications > Utilities > Terminal...
sudo mkdir -p /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF_bad
then
sudo mv /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF/Vera*.ttf /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF_bad
you will need to enter your admin password after each command...
post back if it didn't help...
