Ready to hang it up

Ok, I've been dealing with a 5gen 60gb video Ipod for whatever reason has a mind of it's own. And since I really got no help on the last post of this nature, lets start over from square1. I've blasted my Ipod and restored to factory settings.
How can I go about achieving this with my Itunes? I've uninstalled and reinstalled and for whatever reason Itunes doesn't see 80% of the music, video that were originally all Itunes libraries. My 5000 song library is now at 375 and holding steady.
Someone help please.... my frustration level is very high and I don't see Apple providing any support, other than outdated .PDF files that don't pertain to my issue.
Oh, by the way, Windows Vista and Apple are like oil and water, they will never mix, have no intention of mixing and after 4 months Apple finally comes out with a version? Color me skeptical, hasn't been right since!

How about getting a nice little iBook or MacBook just for fun and to keep your music on and to run iTunes. You don't need a pricey new on to get just for fun stuff. The refubished ones, or just get a newer used one.
If music is as important to you as it is to me, well, I bought a refurbished Powerbook just to do the fun stuff, movies, music, photos, art.
Just a thought.

  • Minute beep or auto hang up

Hi, I just got my iPhone in Mexico. My carrier allows to have 10 phone numbers which I can call for free the first 5 minutes. I used to have a Motorola V3 and I could set it to beep when the call reached 4 minutes, so that I could be ready to hang up before the fifth minute. Also, most of the cell phones have a similar feature. I haven't been able to find this in my iPhone, or any application that can help with this.
Any tips on how to do this? It would be very useful to me because, otherwise I forget to hang up and end up with 10 minutes long distance calls.
    Thank you very much

I don't believe the iPhone includes such a feature.
You can check the iTunes app store for Mexico, but I don't believe there are any apps that provide such a feature or that are allowed to do so. I'm fairly certain such a feature for the phone function would need to be incorporated by Apple.

  • How to create a PDF form which can be filled out and saved with change by end user

I am using Acrobat 8.0 - Mac - and want to create a PDF with text form fields. Simple one page file. The end user needs to be able to fill out the text form fields and SAVE those changes. so far they can fill out the fields but can not save the file with changes.
    Thanks

After the uproar from Users about Standard being little more than Apple's Print to PDF; there hasn't been a Standard version for Mac since version 6. So many people were use the features in Acrobat 5  to create Forms that could be filled out by Reader. when the bought 6 Standard they were ready to hang the CEO of Adobe in effigy. When 7 came out is was Pro only.
    I'm confused.
The current version of Acrobat comes in Standard, Pro, and Extended Pro versions. Only the Pro version is on the Mac. But that doesn't mean that the Mac community wouldn't have wanted the Standard version of Acrobat.
The Standard version is hardly a mimic of Apple's Save to PDF. The most important features of Standard is to enable Rights in Reader as well as add comments, form fields. etc.
The only thing that Standard does do are the pre-press and production features of Pro.
However, given the difference in price ($450 vs. $300) there is ample reason for business on the Mac OS to buy Standard--if they could buy it.
    I didn't say PC users.
I should have said Mac users. Because the Print system and sytem by which Mac users view anything is based on the PDF engine. The Mac sytem can do anything Standard Standrd could do. although in order to placate Adobe the pdf engine used is a version or two behind. If the Mac OS could do everything Acrobat could do there would be no reason for Adobe to provide Acrobat Or Reader for Mac.
And you basing your assumption of what Standard can do a PC. Standard on Mac is basically Mac's Print to PDF  wrapped in an Adobe Package. It shad no ability to confer rights to reader (that didn't come to Acrobat Mac until Version 8) and was unable to to create forms. The current version of Acrobat PC comes as Standard, Pro, And extended. There never has and never will be an extended pro version for Mac (that adds the ability to create XML based forms) They don't have the interest. To adobe is little more than a Play toy. Because Windows has so much clout They can dictate what they want. Apple not so much. One advantage Mac does have is that Forms creator is built in. on PC its an adon (it free but an addon or was).
Now back in OS 9 days and Acrobat 5.x Acrobat for Mac and PC were equal. except to have the print press features Mac users had to pay an addition $200.00.  (It exactly as you described in your last sentence - except Acrobat 5.x without the printpress and The Acrobat 5 without Print press was $299.00 and $499.00 with Print press.) I know I've used Acrobat since version 3.

  • (N)icecast using AirPort Express

    Hello,
After getting AirPort Express (AX), I've lost the ability to do desktop broadcasting using Nicecast. What's confusing me is whether port mapping changes should be made in my Speedstream 5100 (a short email suggestion from the Nicecast folks) or in AX itself by making public and private TCP ports 8000 (for iTunes streaming). If the later is the case (an AX change), I've noticed that the "Private IP Address" (in the Port Mapping Setup Assistant) shows an address of which I can only change the last numbers (10.0.1.xxx) - which doesn't appear to be the actual IP of my broadcasting desktop, so this is a bit confusing to me. I'm wondering if setting the modem as a bridge to the AX is another option that I could use?
Sorry for the n00b nature of this, but I'm still learning (hopefully!)
    Rod

The modem is connected to the AX using the Ethernet port and also connected to the Internet.
Nicecast is just some software that lets you stream from your iTunes (port 8000+). I've been using this for 4 or 5 years now and people just tune in using an m3u address that I provide. I use a DynDns account address that automatically tracks any changes in my IP address. As soon as I added the AX, all that changed.
The folks that provide "Nicecast" sent me the following note,
but the examples in their link don't even come close to the instruction window for my modem:
"...You need to tell your modem to send all incoming connections on port 8000 to your broadcast machine. How you do that will depend on how your network is setup. I would suggest setting your APX up in bridge (or client mode) and then making the changes in your modem as outlined here:
    http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Efficient-Siemens/Speedst ream-5100v2/Icecast.htm
You can try it with whatever configuration you prefer, but ultimately you need to have your modem send connections on port 8000 to port 8000 of your broadcast machine..."
I believe "broadcast machine" means my MacPro - hahahaha!
Anyway, I'm getting tired of the number of days that I've been working on this
and about ready to hang it up. Someone at AT&T said they would do it for me over the phone...for $99!!!!!

  • Why does quicktime have a question mark when I open Safari - how do I fix?

Whenever I open Safari to any page with Quicktime I
get a Q with a questions mark through it.
I am about ready to hang myself.
    Thanks,

    Edgar123,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Sounds as if somehow your Mac has misplaced the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/QuickTime Plugin.webplugin file. Try searching your hard drive to see if that plug-in is around in the wrong spot, or download and re-install the Quicktime installer from the Downloads link at the top of the Discussions page.

  • JPEG image with interlacing / progression

    Why is bug 4675817
    http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/bugParade/bugs/4675817.html
    closed?
I'm using J2SDK1.4.2 and with JWS my application just quits when trying to display a JPEG image with interlacing / progression.

This is an infuriating bug; I couldn't believe how much time I wasted before I found the bugreports by which time I was ready to hang, draw & quarter the guilty party (or the nearest sun employee).
The bug seemed closed against a similar bugreport, and this in turn has been closed against Tiger which is 1.5 the next upcoming major release; which will probably happen next year now.

  • Domain name and hosting provider

Can anyone recommend a good domain name and hosting provider (preferably based in Australia if possible) that I can use to set up my customers' websites? I'm with Domain Central and ready to hang myself. I've been with them for 3 years and decided to stay because it was just too hard to leave, but if I could find something better I'd be out of there. The interface is the most confusing, erronious, complex, slow, antiquated and difficult piece of software I've ever known and the help documentation in way relates to what is actually there.
I have a reseller account with them, which means I buy the domain name and hosting space at about half the price that it would normally be, make a small profit on it, and still pass on a good rate to my customers.  Domain Central is cheap, but after this latest fiasco, I've wasted so much time on Help desk it's not worth it. I want a provider that has an easy to use, straightforward website, so I can sign up for some sort of reseller account, buy the domain name and hosting at a discounted rate, do the name servers and all that stuff myself and even set up email accounts without too much grief and suffering.
Any advice would be so appreciated. What do other web designers do? I've come to the point of having a hollow feeling of dread when I log in to Domain Central : (

I'd recommend heading over to www.webhostingtalk.com .  You'll get a better and faster response.  But you will need to be more specific for them with your needs.  The registrar part is simple, but the hosting you should add in what type of plan you think you are looking for (reseller, VPS, dedicated), how much space/bandwidth you require, environment (Unix vs Windows), database/scripting information, etc., etc.

I purchased a movie yesterday and started the download.  The download seemed to hang up at about 90%.  Finally, it showed that it was ready to watch, but the movie will not play.  Download is apparently corrupt.  How do I get a working version?

Depending upon what country that you are in (films can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the film from your iPad and redownload it via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app (or the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes).
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download films, or if you have problems with the re-downloaded version, then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that film and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work (it's been taking some people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

  • SAP installation hangs while installation EHP4 ready on Solaris-Oracle

    Hi,
I am in a process of installing EHP4 READY on Solaris , with ORacle database.
at 13 Phase CREATE DATABASE, the installation hangs up
when i check the log    ora_sql_results.log  it says
SP2-0310: unable to open file "ora_scr_tmp.sql"
not getting any clue  i have added group sapinst to user orasid, and also gave full permission to the file
    "ora_scr_tmp.sql  "
    still no luck,
    please advise.
    Regards,
    Irfan..

    Hello Irfan,
SP2-0310: unable to open file "ora_scr_tmp.sql"
    There are 3 possibilities...
    1. Users and there Group membership is incorrect.
    2. ORACLE_HOME directory permissions are not set or incorrect.
    3. Profile parameters are not set..
    Check this as below:
    1. Check the Users and Group membership as below:
    Users -----------> Primary Groups
    <SID>adm ------> sapsys,oper,dba,sapinst
    ora<SID> -------> dba,oper,sapinst
    2. Check that ORACLE_HOME has 755 permissions and ora<sid>:dba should be the user and owner. You can set it with below command:
    # chmod 755 -R /oracle
    # chown ora<SID>:dba -R /oracle
    3. Check if you defined ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID environment variable for user ora<SID>.
    Regards.

  • Hangs at "verifying identity" or "waiting for network to be ready"

We have an older computer that we would like to use and connect to the internet, but it won't connect through the Jetpack 890L. We have Windows XP Home version 2002, svc pk 2. It will just hang and show the messages above. I have researched and tried several different settings in advanced settings, and received a few different messages. I am afraid our computer may just be too old. At one point I tried "repairing the connection" button and received messages something like "be sure your network adapter is properly connected" -- Atheros 5005g, 2005 version 4.1.2.56-- old! Any suggestions? We are not tech savvy, but thought someone may be able to help us stumble through. Thanks for any help!

WinXP displays the verifying identity message when it cannot fully authenticate to the network.  Most of the time this is because you are connecting over a WiFi security protocol that is not supported by your computers wireless card.  To resolve the problem you need to select a different security mode or update your wireless card to one that supports the features of your jetpack.
If you try all of the available security modes (open/WEP/WPA/WPA2) and the problem is not resolved then it is most likely a password conflict.  Wipe out your saved passwords/wireless profiles on XP and start over.
This same logic applies to the waiting for network to be ready message.

  • Setup hangs at Getting Files Ready for installation (22%)

Technical preview Enterprise is hanging during setup on the "Getting Files Ready for Installation".
It's done this twice now. Doing a clean setup on a Dell OptiPlex 7010. Any ideas??
It never gives an error or anything, just sits there forever. Hard drive light and DVD drive light on constant.
    Thanks

  • Win 10 Build 9926 Virtual Machine hangs at "Getting Ready" screen.

Clean installing Build 9926 as a Virtual Machine with VMware Player (non-commercial version).
On a Windows 8.1 system with 8GB RAM and Quad Core Q9300 CPU.
Install gets to the "Getting Ready" screen and just hangs for ever. Not frozen.
Installing from ISO file from a separate drive, not DVD.
    Same thing happens with VirtualBox
    Previous build worked fine.
    Thoughts?
    Thank you.

It's a driver thing. If you disable audio it will be good and the install goes on. That was the case in my situation. Once Windows 10 build 9926 is installed enable audio again to install it. Or leave it off if it's not compatible.
In VMware Windows 10 build 9926 will install audio but with the option off in VMware you won't hear sound. After you enable it you will hear sounds from Windows 10 ;)
ps. If disabling audio in VMware does not do the trick, disable temp. other hardware such as the NIC and enable it again in VMware options after Windows 10 is successfully installed.

  • Satellite L300-29U hangs at waiting for ODD to become ready

    I sell Toshiba's.
I always make recovery dics for my customers. I do it on Philips DVD's.
Now I have tried Windows 7 on one positively and tried to recover to vista again before selling the laptop.
The problem is that when I try to recover, the system hangs at "waiting for ODD to become ready "
    I tried several things,
    -formatting the harddisk
    -removing the partition
-windows vista oem CD (installs fine, so does 7) etc etc.
I have another laptop in stock so I used the recovery discs of that one, result is that it hangs at the same point.
Now I tried to restore the other laptop (same model) and there the recovery dvd hangs at the same point.
I think there is an programming error in the recovery dvd program.
    Greets,
    Vincent
    Holland

    Not a chance.
Toshiba is sending out an update for the imaging program because they found out it did not work themselves.
Now just wait for the helpdesk to send out free copies for the people who burnt themselves faulty rescue dvd's?
