Real PIA.  Exporting 1080p from AVCHD sequence

Looking to replace FCP as my editor, and now considering another product if I can't make PPCS5.5 work, I really need some help and I have scoured the web looking for help.  I use 3 Panasonic camcorders set at 1080p/60 to collect all the footage I take.  I set my sequence for these settings and begin my editing without any problem.  But when I try to export my clip, any clip, at 1080p/60, my exported video is choppy and has glitches.  If I choose to export in 720p or less, my footage looks fine but only at the 1080p settings am I having real issues.
Some say hardware issues.  Some say "known issues."  Others say incompatible format and others throw up hands and say I don't know.  Well, I don't know either and my eval copy has about 12 days left and before I shell out a chunk of change for a program that seems to have an issue I can't resolve, I thought to ask for help.
Any of you sage types have some magic pill for me to take to get glitchless 1080p video out fo 5.5?
Thanks.
Paul

As a new trial user/potential buyer of CS5.5, I have not yet discovered the means to get an output different from the available 1080p30.  I realize now that I mis-typed earlier that I was trying to output 1080p60 when, indeed, I was attempting to do so with 1080p30 instead.  Sorry about that.
At the moment, I am investigating the possibility of creating nature DVD's to sell that would be on DVD (BR if possible) and presently, I am looking to test market my product on Vimeo and Smugmug.  So... short answer I guess: Higher quality PC playback now with potential HD disc marketing around the corner.
I read elsewhere that people suggest changing camera settings to going to 1080i or 720 settings instead of 1080p60 to avoid some of the pitfalls that I (and others apparently) seem to encounter with these files.
Kind regards,
Paul

  • Trouble exporting 320x240 from 720x480 sequence using QT conversion

(Opps, put this on the FCP Express discussion 1st...)
    Hi,
Everytime I try to export a 720x480 sequence from FCP with "using QT Conversion" to a 320x240 size, it exports out as 640x480. Everytime. Used to work just fine. Same thing happens using a compressor setting to 320x240 and exporting right from the QT export size setting. Anyone know what gives? I tried trashing prefs in both FCP and QT. No luck.
    Thanks!

This is the first time I've heard of this problem so no real basis to go on. Try the QT prefs delete again and if not that, then the QT reinstall.
To do a full quicktime reinstall.
Go to /library/receipts and delete any files that say Quicktime followed by a number e.g. Quicktime703.pkg
Go to the Apple quicktime site and download the appropriate version of Quicktime to your hard drive.
    Run the Quicktime installer.
Repair Disk Permissions for your System Disk (Disk Utility > Select the system disk > Repair Disk Permissions)
    Reboot
    Good luck.

  • Export clips from a sequence seperately with effects as a batch export in CS 5.5

    Hi there,
I'd like to know if there is any possibility to export all clips from a sequence/timeline seperately with all applied effects as a batch export or similar in CS 5.5.
I know there is a chance to do that via the project manager, but a far as I know this way doesn't include the applied effects on each clip.
Thanks for your help in advance...
    Marc.

The only way to export a single clip with effects is to manually set up each individual export.  This applies to all version of PP.

  • How to export m4a from a sequence in Final Cut Express

I have a sequence in FCE with multiple audio tracks, no video.
I want to directly export an m4a.
The closest options I can see via QT conversion are video: "for iPod" which is .m4v and .movs that have AAC audio option.
I want the .m4a file extension, just audio.
    Can anyone help?
    thanks,
    Peter

Export via Quicktime Conversion and choose MPEG-4 as your format.  Once you've exported, manually change the extension from .mp4 to .m4a.  A .m4a file just indicates an audio-only MPEG-4 file (usually encoded in AAC).

  • Can't export EDL from FCP sequence

I've been trying for days, weeks now, to export an EDL from my Final Cut Pro 6 sequence.  I keep getting the same error message:
The media files of one or more clips are missing reel names and may also be missing timecode tracks.  Proceeding with the export will result in an EDL that cannot capture or reconnect all the media used.
I went through all my clips and added reel names, went to Modify-->Timecode to give reel names and timecode to slugs and music tracks, and nothing seems to be working.  If I take just a piece, it works fine, but the whole thing just won't work, even though I've gone through it twice.  There is one clip that somehow (I don't know how) became variable speed.  There's actually a lot of speedramped clips and some SmoothCam slips that need to be reanalyzed. Could any of this be the problem?  It's driving me crazy. Help!

What are you using the EDL for?
What is the physical media the EDL is going to point to (tape, DAT, film, etc)?
An EDL is normally used to allow a computer to acquire the media necessary to build your sequence from physical media sources - and as such you would not want to be arbitrarily changing reel numbers and TC tracks, etc.
If your media is digital - camera files, audio files, etc, then you don't want to use an EDL to move the project from one computer to another, as the EDL would then not contain any useful information, other that edit durations.
If this is the case, you want to move your project by taking all your digital media to the new computer (on an external dirve{s}), and then open your FCP project and reconnect to those drives.

  • Does Premiere Pro CC export omf from multicam sequences?

I've got an hour long multicam sequence already cut and ready for OMFs to be exported when I realized that CS6 does not export the "inside" of the multicam audio clip (which is basically a nested clip). I've already edited the sequence to picture lock so there are many, many, many cuts (not just video, but also audio) so it's not as simple as unnest an audio clip - I would have to unnest ALL the multicam audio clip per cut (and there are a lot of cuts). Is there any way possible to work around this debacle? Does the new Premiere Pro CC fix this problem? From what I've researched, there isn't any proof in writing or from anyone's experience. For the future, I now know I have to unnest the audio before I go do any multclipping session, but for now - I need the quickest workaround and my fear is that I may have to just go to every audio clip and unnest...
I've tried doing the Audition workaround, but that simply creates an OMF of the nest itself and not what is inside the nest which holds audio for two separate people. Using the Audition workaround basically merges the first person's audio resulting in the second person to be completely gone.
    Any thoughts?

    Hi yfury,
In Premiere Pro CC, you can flatten your multi-cam sequence and then export an OMF from there. Right-click > MultCamera > Flatten.

  • Exporting selections from a sequence onto DVD

    Hi all
I have edited twenty-four public service announcements on a single timeline. What is the best way to export them, three at a time, onto eight separate DVD's, with the least drop in quality?

Import all of the MPEG 2 and ac3 elements into DVD SP.
Build a menu with buttons linking the first three films. Run it in the simulator to make sure it works.
    Burn and save the project.
Click the first movie in the graphic inspector. This will make it's Timeline appear in the viewer. Click the video track and press delete. Do the same for the audio.
Drag and drop the first film for disc 2 into the currently empty container in the graphic inspector.
Repeat this for the other two films. Change menu titles accordingly.
Burn and save. Repeat for discs 3-8.

  • Exporting EDLs from nested sequences

    Ok. here is the problem...
I have worked with avid for a long time. But my own system is a finalcut pro 5 system.
Why are there no links to the original mediafiles in nested sequences?
In AVIDs sytem you can edit sequences into other sequences and still get the EDL info.

    Hmm...
So, is it only me or isnt this a bad thing?
Let us say that you have a low budget filmproduction and you need to sync your separate sound with picture and do this in FCP. In that case you have a very bad workflow i think.
Many of my co-workers find this enoying chooses not to work with FCP, wich is sad on such a good app.

  • Problem when exporting audio from Premiere Pro v4.2.1 into wave 5.1 format

    Hello to Adobe experts!
After installing of last updates for Adobe Premiere Pro (v4.2.1) and for Media Encoder (v4.2.0.006) the was a problem:
Now I cannot to export audio from adobe sequence into uncompressed wave format with 5.1 channels settings. Source m2ts video files in sequence are with 5.1 audio.
    What I doing:
    1) in Premiere I execute "File\Export\Media"
    2) Export settings are:
    - format: Windows Waveform
    - audio codec: Ucompressed
    - basic audio settings: 44100Hz, Channels: 5.1, Sample Type 16bit
    3) After OK button it opens Adobe Media Encoder.
    4) After pressing Start Queue in Adobe Media Encoder there is a message "Error compiling movie. Unknown error"
In earlier versions it worked fine.
Can you help me with this problem?
    Alexander

Here are the options, from a sequence with 5.1 master track:
    and with Surcode:
Notice that first one does only give stereo as an option. Nothing more. With Surcode it gives you 5.1 sound.

  • H.264 export from AVCHD source results in slow-motion video; any ideas?

Hello, I'm trying to export a 1080i project with AVCHD footage using the H.264 Bluray profile.  The resulting video looks good, but runs in slow motion.  The starting footage is AVCHD 1440x1080 (1.333).  When I export using the MPEG2 Bluray profile, everything runs fine.  Thank you for any suggestions.

Thanks for your reply.  My source footage consists of MTS files from an AVCHD camcorder.  The files are 1080i anamorphic, so 1440x1080, with an aspect ration of 1.333 and a framerate of 29.97fps.  I used one of the AVCHD sequence templates in Premiere CS5 that matched the video files.
I'm exorting using the H.264 Bluray preset for 1080i.  I tried several of the profiles (1080p, etc), but they all end with the same bad result.  The video plays, but seems to be playing at half speed.  My 15-minute clip takes 30 minutes to play, even though the timline in VLC or WMP reports at 15 minutes.  The audio sounds fine, but stops after 15 minutes (as it should).  It's obviously out of sync, since the video is playing at half speed.
I have read a few other articles indicating it might be an issue with the way Premiere is interpreting the interlaced footage from the MTS files?  This is beyond my area of knowledge.
When I encode using the MPEG-2 Bluray profile, it works fine.  The video playback speed is normal.
My end goal is to edit my MTS files from the camcorder, encode using the H.264 profile, and place in an MKV container for playback on my XBMC-based HTPC.  I'm also considering exporting as a high-bitrate MPEG-2, then using another encoder (HandBrake, etc.) to create the x264 MKV.  Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

  • 1080p/60p AVCHD from Sony HX9V or HX100V

Can anyone confirm if 1080p/60p AVCHD from a Sony HX9V or HX100V will work?

    Tom Wolsky wrote:
This is not necessary. FCP can edit either 50p or 59.94p media. You can use ClipWrap to rewrap the AVCHD file to QuickTime before importing it.
I've tried the FREE remux (http://www.nef.wh.uni-dortmund.de/%7Emt/remux/) for rewrapping the MTS files from my HX9V (US model, 60p) and I got a m4v file which is displayed as 59.92p in FCP. Will this be OK or do I need real 59.94p to avoid sync problems in longer movies? Thanks.

  • Problem exporting from large sequences

I'm reposting here becase it could be hardware related (the system is new), and because it wasn't answered on the CS5 forum and quickly got buried beneath 100 other threads.  There's usually more in-depth support on this forum.  Here goes:
I'm running CS5 5.02 on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with an X58A-UD3R mobo, i7 930, 12 GB RAM, and a GTX 470.  The footage is 4:3 NTSC DV, 29.97fps, 720x480. The sequence is DV NTSC Standard 48 kHz.  OS on C drive, media and project on E drive, exporting to F drive.
I often put 100 clips or sometimes even 1000 clips on a sequence.
When I go to File-->Export and start exporting video for a small work area (10 seconds or less), it brings up a dialogue box that says "Encoding Sequence 01" and doesn't make any progress for a painfully long time if there are many clips on the sequence.  The more clips in the sequence, the longer it waits before exporting.  If I isolate the same clip in another empty sequence and try to export the same small work area, it quickly exports the file.  As I add and delete clips from a sequence, the problem waxes and wanes.  When there's over 200-300 clips, I've never seen it export the video because it just sits there forever "encoding".
I've tried this with several export formats: mpeg2, h264, quicktime, etc., with the same results.  Exporting a still JPEG will quickly work on the large sequence, but it is very slow to export video.
It's as if Premiere is trying to encode the entire sequence first even though I've told it to only encode the small work area.  It still only exports the small work area I requested, not the entire sequence.
Can someone please try to replicate this a few hundred clips and/or give me advice?

    Thanks for your replies, guys.
I'm under deadline but will try running PPBM5 on Tuesday and post back here to see if you have ideas.
There must be something wrong with my setup, because although the project runs smoothly, the exporting lags significantly even with 100 or 200 clips.  Surely CS5 should be able to export quickly from sequences as small as that.  I had no problem doing this with previous versions of Premiere Pro.
Can anyone try throwing 100-200 clips onto a sequence to see if it causes any lag before exporting a small work area?

Try searching the forum, we see this topic monthly or so.
Last time it came up the discussion went towards setting markers and batch exporting the markers as stills. I do not recall the details nor do I recall if it actually worked. Scroll back down the forum a few days, look for Chapter Markers as Stills or something like that.

  • How can I export photos from Aperture with a new sequence and ignore the embedded JPEG number? Have tried renumbering to no avail.

How can I export photos from APERTURE with a new sequence and ignore the embedded JPEG number? Have tried renumbering to no avail.
    has anyone resolved this issue?
This is now the second big Problem with using Apple's Appeture with NO apparent FIX...
Aperture has NO DIRECT way to Burn to a CD/DVD & apparently NO way to RE-SEQUENCE the numbering system????
ANYONE... I wish APPLE would address/fix these 2 problems... LIGHTROOM I guess is next?

    Hi David,
Coming in and whining loudly is rude.  We are all volunteers here, voluntarily sharing our expertise so that users like you can make the most of their time with Aperture.  Speaking just for myself:  although I do care about your success with software (it's why I'm here), I don't care what software you use.  If you want to use Lightroom, do so, and post your questions in an appropriate forum.
Burning files to a CD is a file operation done at the system level (it is built into OS X).  Aperture lets your create sharable image-format files from your Images.  You then use OS X's tools to burn those files to a CD.  Iirc, you can set up a "Burn Folder" in Finder, into which you can export files created from your Images, and with a single click burn your CD.
Naming the files you create by exporting your Images can be tricky.  There are _many_ possibilities.  Some things can't be done.  Sequencing can be done in a number of ways (see Léonie's answer above).  What have you tried?  What was the result?  In what way did this differ from what you expected?

  • Exporting avchd sequence

    hey all ye knowledgable folks,
I need to export a 60fps non-anamorphic 1080i avchd sequence. It was shot on a canon vixia hf100. I am editing on an amd phenom II x3 720 processor 2.8 ghz, 4 gb ram, 64 bit windows 7 operating system. It seems that no matter what I try to export it tells me 100 hours and really doesn't even have a chance of completing itself. I was wondering what settings I should enable to produce a full quality HD file that could be played on any computer or hd monitor and really just any advice you could give me on exporting avchd projects. I've only been working with premiere pro for about a month so I'm still a bit of a newb.
    -erik (newb)

    How long is the sequence?
What format and codec are you choosing for export?
Do you have many effects applied to the clips in the sequence?
