Really Adobe? Really

Just for once i would like to use an adobe product without something that just irritates you for no god damn reason. What is this now
Bridge's parent application is not active.
Bridge requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least
once to enable this feature."
I just don;t get this damn company and its lousy products that we are paying $45 bucks a month for.

What I find incomprehensible is why so many of you opted to pay the monthly tribute to Adobe.  It's easier to understand why Adobe would take advantage of you, frankly.  Private companies are there to make money for their shareholders.

  • Creative Cloud - Does Adobe REALLY Care About Customers?

I hope the staff at Adobe are reading these forum posts.
    First question: the following quote
As far as the future of CS applications, in his Adobe MAX keynote, David Wadhwani said, 'We have no plans' to continue perpetual licenses. We are not ruling that out in the future.
Just exactly what is meant by this statement? Is Adobe already looking for a back door if the Create Cloud doesn't pan out? I really would like to know what this means. It sounds ominous and dubious and it sends mixed messages.
As far as the Creative Cloud model goes, is this really a benefit to your customers? I can see it might make Adobe a lot of money (if you don't lose a vast majority of your customer base) but how does it really benefit your customers? Your loyal customers? The customers that made you the rich company that you are today.
Speaking for myself, I do not use all the programs that will be available in the cloud on a regular basis. During the summer when I don't have classes, I don't use some programs at all. But I have to keep paying whether I use them or not. If I stop paying, I will lose access to my software. How is that a good thing for me?  For the majority of your customers? You think because we pay a monthly fee that most people won't equate that we are having to fork over more than $300 a year? In some cases over $600 a year. And it never stops. How is that good for the majority of your customers?
Do I really need to have the latest software constantly? No, I don't. But you are now forcing the issue whether I want it or not. Forcing your customer to do something does not seem like you really care about me.  About us.
What about my students? We have hundreds of students that go through our Adobe software classes each semester. Every student told me they would not go with the Cloud, either because they don't have the money or they were going to protest Adobe's "money grabbing scheme" (one student's actual quote). The students sure don't think Adobe cares about them. If the students stop taking the classes because of the software access, then we start cutting sections. Does Adobe care about that? I'm sure no, but think about those hundreds of students each semester that will no longer be learning to use Adobe software.
Adobe is putting a stranglehold on its customers and the customers are going to say  enough is enough.  Perhaps new software (open source?) will emerge to take the place of Adobe. Perhaps people using InDesign will go back to QuarkXPress. Perhaps enough of these former Adobe customers will force Adobe to check their hubris and greed at the door. But maybe not. The world will move on, one way or another.
One thing I am supremely sure about is Adobe has got it really, really wrong on the Creative Cloud strategy.
BTW, you might want to read the following link entitled Adobe Creative Cloud:  Lopsided Legal Agreement. It is not pretty:

Nice sentiments, could not agree more.

I hope this occurs across the globe with students ("potential" future Adobe customers) whom may be hindered in their monetary abilities but not in seeing the truth towards what it being placed upon them by Adobe concerning the Cloud mirage. This is a great opportunity for educators to truly educate their students about Adobe.

  • End of Upgrade Cycle for CS3 and CS4... Really Adobe?

As if business wasn't bad enough now I see there will be no upgrade paths past december for CS3 and 4 users. Is this how Adobe plans to keep users away from stopping their upgrades and reducing the number of machines they run Adobe products on? I understand Adobe is not a non-profit and has has to turn a revenue, but the geniuses at Marketing here have made a huge mistake by basically telling their customers that what they have so far will be worth zilch in comes 2013. That arbitrary deadline, is not consider some people who on the east coast are now cash strapped as anyone having to choose between home repairs and other such marvelous stuff and upgrading to CS6 guess what they'll choose. And for the lucky ones not heavily affected by the storms, they will donate to help their community before they will spend money to upgrade perfectly good software.
It wasn't enough that the upgrade path wasn't much of a discount, but in the current economy every penny counts! The choice of stopping support for CS3 and CS4 in my personal opinion an ill-advised move. I personally went from 3 to 4 within a short amount of time... then when 5 came out my budget didn't allow so I needed to wait. The new CS6 isn't direly needed so I decided I'd have to loose some additional "upgrade power" because money need to be directed elsewhere now... but the news that I'd loose all the upgrade power and would have kept on upgrading for nothing it's just ridiculous... and if that's the treatment a customer will have to expect from now on I think I'll use what I have and move to alternatives stopping to personally support Adobe products an rely on licensed copies at work instead. Perhaps Adobe hasn't notices we aren't exactly doing that great in US between the current economical situation, the various setbacks experienced across the country and for the fact that in this particular business most work is often being outsourced out of US these days... I am sure you will have a huge market on the countries where the outsourced work is being sent... as far as I am concerned comes 12/31/2013 I will no longer be an Adobe customer as Adobe is forcing me out of the upgrade cycle and I won't plan to re-enter anytime soon in the coming future... lesson learnt.
Thank you for your time (if any of the marketing gurus will have cared to read this far without laughing and discounting with a "screw those old customers, they should've upgraded earlier" which was basically the content of the email I got this week... pasted below)
    Cheers,
    tfbkny
Content of email received from Adobe saying last chance to upgrade now or what you got will be worthless in less than a couple months.
    Dear Creative Suite customer:
We want to make sure you're aware of an important change to Adobe's upgrade policy that may affect you.
Beginning January 1, 2013, only Creative Suite customers with licenses for CS5 or CS5.5 versions will qualify for upgrade pricing to CS6.
Due to this change, we will only continue offering CS3 and CS4 customers like you special upgrade pricing through December 31, 2012.*
    * Owners of CS3 and CS4 individual products and suite editions will be eligible to receive upgrade pricing to CS6 until December 31, 2012. After that date, only customers on CS5 or CS5.5 will qualify for upgrade pricing to CS6.

Adobe doesn't care, they don't have to. I like Phsotoshop and have been using it professionally for 20 years, but lets face it, I wouldnt mind some really good competition from another source. It didnt use to be the only game in town, and doesnt have to remain so.
I could brainstorm how I would want competing software to look like. Pshop is not the easiest workflow possible. Illustrator is clearly deficient to even CorelDraw, and certainly Freehand. I've been meaning to reconnect with CorelDraw. It did some cool things.
Google Chrome is pulling a lot of manoevers software wise and I hope they try to go a little deeper and give Adobe a run for their money on the one program they feel justifies unbelievable gouging. Go investigate Ableton Live if you want to see what a company that cares about its customers is doing, ADOBE. Audition is a JOKE compared to Ableton Live. Thank God we're not powned on the audio side by these suits.
The idea that a company would peddle buggy software, which CS4 was..., although some of that was Apple's fault, is bad, the upgrade prices were ridiculous, and this is the end of the road for me currently. The idea that a company would actively
push away customers is pretty incredible. "But I sent you an email!" Whoops, you gotta pay $1900 for production premium CS6! HAHAHAHAHA. Time for a YT video with my old hard copy box. Sounds like a good idea.
There are too many options on the motion graphics side, and I'll keep a static machine to run Pshop and AE CS4.
The masters of the universe will have theit way, and the rest must bow to their ambivalent greed. At least that's the way they think. It would seem that Adobe and Apple really, really want some upstarts to come up. Maybe $360 for a year to figure out an exit might work. It will be interesting to see if this hits earnings. VERY interesting.

  • Is Adobe really turning its back on me?

In 2005, I purchased the entire Adobe Creative Suite 2 Premium. I really only needed and wanted Photoshop CS2, but for the extra money, I bit the bullet and got the rest thinking that I may end up using it. It worked great and still does, with the exceptions of the lack of support on Vista 64-bit and small issues with compatibility (interface, for example).
Photoshop CS4 came out. Awesome. I downloaded the trial version, saw how smooth it ran on my system, and enjoyed the new interface. Great. I am now a college student, and money isn't exactly abundant. I am very careful with my money. Photoshop is the tool I use to make money in web design and photography.
For Christmas, I treated myself and dropped the $200 on the Photoshop CS4 upgrade. Got it in the mail, and noticed the upgrade url on the side of the box. Just to be safe before I opened it, I went to the page and checked it out. It wasn't that clear, so I thought I would contact the support team at adobe.
They politely told me that I can't use my CS2 Premium serial number with my Photoshop CS4 upgrade because I can't upgrade from a set to a standalone, EVEN THOUGH I OWN A LEGAL COPY OF PHOTOSHOP CS2.
What are you trying to pull Adobe? This isn't the Adobe I remember. I invested a lot of my hard earned money into your software and this is how you treat your customers?
At what point did you guys decide that your biggest spenders (the ones that invest in all of your products rather than just one) are the ones you should turn your backs on? Are you really telling me that you don't want my $200?
I own a legal copy of Photoshop CS2, regardless of whether or not it was in the suite or standalone, and I should be able to use my serial number to upgrade to your latest software version. I don't need, or want, the other software. Just Photoshop, and there's no way you are getting more than half of what I paid for the entire suite two years ago just for one of your products.
    What gives?

I'll apologize in advance if this redundant information to some, but in the spirit of sharing information from my experience w/ adobe support / sales....
    1) there are no plans to provide the camera raw plug in for Canon 5D Mark II for PS CS3. It is supported by PS CS4, but you will need to go online and get the updated plug-in.
    2) further if you have purchased photoshop CS3 as part of a suite, you must upgrade the suite, not the individual software. Your previous serial number will not be accepted.
    3) I discovered this previous issue even though I had been advised by multiple Adobe support personnel, that all I had to do was purchase PS CS4 either standard or extended version and I would be fine (they even quoted price for the individual license, even though I clearly identified as having a suite). No where during the initial verbal discussions around the raw plug in issue was there EVER mention of having to upgrade the entire suite, so beware.
    4) If you made the same mistake that I did and purchased that individual license you have 30 days from purchase to tell them that you want to return it if you want your money back. If you are outside of that 30 day window, you'll need to speak with a supervisor, and get a return waiver from them so as to get your return credited if that is the path you choose. Good luck.

  • CS5 - already frustrated - REALLY Adobe?!?!

Okay, so here we are on the day of the long awaited ability to edit AVCHD footage natively in a 64-bit environment, and the CS5 trial releases with no option to use AVCHD, DSLR, or RED footage.
SERIOUSLY?!?! Am I missing something here?
That is what EVERY single advertisement/video marketing ploy that they have been pushing for the last 4+ months has been saying about how great P-pro CS5 is, and we cant even try it.....the software will shutdown after 30 days for cryin out loud....what gives?
So basically we are supposed to give them almost 2 grand for software that we have NO CLUE whether or not will be any better than CS4. That's like a movie theater advertising the most incredible 3D experience on the planet, and then offering a free trial day to come check it out, only to give you NO GLASSES to view the amazing difference. AHHHHHHHHH!
    comments welcome.

    Bill,
THANK YOU! for your input....it was objective....unlike some other people's input here.  I really have trouble understanding how importing footage onto a timeline would violate their lic. agreement. but whatever.  If PrE can export with a watermark, they could at least re-negotiate something that would allow PPro trial users to at least use the timeline to evaluate how the software handles footage in the PM or the multicam viewer, and just give us NO export feature.
I mean, why download and "try" the trial?  We all know what the interface looks like, and how it handles DV footage....they brag about how it handles AVCHD for months and then dont even give us an opportunity to give it a whirl.  Are we just supposed to take their word for it?  CS4 is proof that we should not, that software, even with the updates is still full of bugs.
Consumer:  "excuse me sir, do you have the new BMW with the larger horsepower engine, manual transmission, with the convertible top.....I have heard that it is an amazing driving experience."
Salesman:  "why yes we do, however you can only test drive the BMW with the smaller horsepower engine, automatic tranmission, with the hard-top."
Consumer:  "How will I get the feel of the overall horsepower, the feel of the clutch pedal, and the wind in my hair....making 100% that this is the investment I definitely want to make?"
Salesman:  "You don't............but I can tell you, it is pretty amazing.  So.....can I get you the keys to the hard-top and waste some more of your precious time?"
    HA!

  • Why does Firefox list of plugins show "Shockwave Flash" when what is installed is really Adobe Flash Player; they are different .

Adobe; various websites; and now seemingly Firefox seem to continually confuse and obscure things regarding the two different Adobe Players (Adobe Flash Player AFP and Adobe Shockwave Player ASP). According to this security alert web article ASP is far less secure than AFP which itself isn't great. The article http://krebsonsecurity.com/2014/05/why-you-should-ditch-adobe-shockwave/ indicates:
Mozilla Firefox users should note that the presence of the “Shockwave Flash” plugin listed in the Firefox Add-ons section denotes an installation of Adobe Flash Player plugin — not Adobe Shockwave Player.
    ==========
My Firefox is working, but this confusion of calling things by their proper (or at least a unique name) seems crazy to me. If this is accurate can someone get Firefox to name things correctly, AND if article is accurate let this be a warning to others that they NOT use ASP, but as needed rely on AFP. There are Adobe test pages for each so you want to make sure that AFP succeeds and the other ASP fails to play.

hello, "Adobe Flash Player" and "Shockwave Flash" are the same thing - the latter is the technical term of the plugin that adobe kept for compatibility reasons after it acquired the technology from another company (macromedia)...

  • Safari FAIL - Could Adobe REALLY Be Relying On These Sites?

I've got an updated HOSTS file data from http://winhelp2002.mvps.org and have found that Safari 5.1.7 (current version) for Windows emits errors and won't actually allow me to follow ANY links on any adobe.com site (not the forum site, not the main site).  This is not a big deal as I use IE9 for accessing this site in general, but I do occasionally test sites with Safari, and that is what led me to this accidental discovery.
Safari's Window - Activity dialog shows this:
    Note specifically the blocked sites:
    api.demandbase.com
    stats.adobe.com
    survey.112.2o7.net
While it seems to be a pretty egregious programming error to allow the failure of access to a tracking site to block your Safari users from following any of your links, it is not a reasonable workaround to avoid blocking these sites.  I don't want any data from my system going to the tracking software on any of these sites.
Adobe, let me put it plainly to you:
If you plan to change your web programming so that with these tracking sites blocked it breaks my ability to access your forum to help YOUR users you will see the last of me.
    I'm sure I'm not alone.
    -Noel

  • Adobe really screwed the pooch this time...c'mon, when ya gonna fix this?!

    That is all...

I've started to see the error "only a single instance of this app can run" crop up in the last week or so, I suspect it's part of the download manager but I'll look into it.  However, I suspect you have installed Flash but there's something that's blocking it in IE.  Since you're running IE9, can you first check out your ActiveX Filtering settings?  If that looks fine, please ensure that the Shockwave Flash Object is enabled:
    1. Open the Manage add-ons dialog
    2. Find the Shockwave Flash Object entry and verify that it is enabled.
If you don't see the Flash Object entry, then you did run into a install problem.  Let me know and we'll  try a few other things.
    Thanks,

  • The sound on my iPod touch is really quiet, really annoying!

The sound on my iPod touch is really quiet, and i have to have the volume up at least halfway just to be able to hear it, but once I get a notification, it goes back to normal, but only until I either go into the app, unlock my iPod or change the song. It started a while ago when I was playing a game and the game crashed. Ever since then it has been really quiet. It's not the headphones because I tried them with my computer and they worked perfectly fine.

Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

  • Cant open apps, really slow, really long pauses, error 50 messages (i don't think it's in root user it didn't give a disable option)??

Hi! My macbook pro is barely working suddenly and I dont know whats wrong. It's not allowing me to open most programs or only one at a time, even trying to type a sentence it keeps pausing for moments at a time. I have recieved error 50 messages about most tasks. This just started today and I tried to disable root user but it wasn't enabled or didn't give an option. If anyone has suggestions or similar problem today I'd really appreciate it! Thanks,
    Amber

    Hi Amber,
Any changes recently, hardware or software?
Do you have at least 15% free space on your HD?
Is your RAM being recognized? (Apple menu > About This Mac > More Info > Hardware > Memory)
Have you looked in Activity Monitor?
Sometimes a process can run amok and use more of the CPU than it should, potentially causing a slowdown and/or heat issues and/or other issues. To check on this, first use your Mac as you normally would, the longer the better (checking this right after starting up may not show you anything). After you’ve used your Mac for awhile (again, the longer the better), go to Applications > Utilities > open Activity Monitor > in the top menu at right, select All Processes in the drop down menu > click on the column heading titled % CPU (this will update continuously, showing the percentage each process is using) > toward the bottom left of the window, click on CPU (this will show % Idle, which will also tell you how much of the CPU is being used).
How much RAM do you have?
One way to get an idea whether more RAM will help or not, is to check Page outs and Swap used. First, use your Mac as you normally would, the longer the better (checking this right after starting up isn’t likely to show you anything). After you’ve used your Mac for awhile(again, the longer the better), go to Applications > Utilities > open Activity Monitor > in the top menu at right, select All Processes in the drop down menu > near the bottom of the window click on System Memory. If Page outs is more that about 10% of Page ins, and/or Swap used is large, chances are good that adding RAM will help. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1342
Exactly which MBP do you have?
Have you repaired permissions? Repaired disk? Reset SMC?

  • I have been having issues with downloading and updating apps on my iPod 4th gen. How do I fix this? It's getting really old really fast.

So yeah, this has been going on the past week. When I tap to upload my apps, some update right away, but others won't. Sometimes they will dowload half way, sometimes they won't at all, what causes them to stop is this little message that pops up saying, "This app cannot be downloaded at this time." and it gives you options 'Done' or 'Retry." Instinctively I hit retry. Through the course of the day I did this, I kept hitting retry, and eventually all the apps that were updating, updated, but not very effieciently. All apps updated, except for one, Facebook. No matter how anytimes I hit retry, it wouldn't update. I got real sick and tired of it, so I deleted it. I decided to go through everything and delete old apps, pictures, music, thinking that I didn't have enough space. I go to download an app I've already had to test this theory out: Still doesn't work. The stupid thing won't even TRY to download. So, is there any way I can fix this without taking a sledgehammer to my iPod? Because, honestly, I am severly ticked off at how stubborn this is. Please help. Before my patience runs out and I break this thing.

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

  • My mac freezes just for a second about every two seconds and it gets really hot really fast?

When i am watching a video or just scrolling on a webpage, even typing, there is a small glitch ever 1-2 seconds where everything freezes just for a second. Its almost as if its lagging all the time. I have tried every utility and cant figure it out. Also, it gets pretty hot pretty fast, even when im doing much on it. Are these two things related? how do i fix it?
    thanks

If you can, visit an Apple Store. Before you do, set up the phone "as new device" without using the backup afterwards, described here: How to back up your data and set up as a new device
If you still have problems after that, visit the Store or call Apple to get it serviced: Apple - Support - Service Answer Center

  • Fan comes on really loud really often?

kinda bothersome to have this fan always coming on so loud. temp seems in the range of normal (b/t 40 and 47c hd and between 56 and 63c for "cpu a temperature diode"). comes on at random times. happens sometime when running processor intensive apps. happens other times when running routing tasks in ilife apps.
is there anything wrong with the computer? is there a quick and safe fix for this? i'm running 10.4.9

It’s not uncommon for the fan to cycle during processor intense periods such as running games, video rich content, etc. As a side note, ensure that you’re running the latest battery update as listed below.
If the problem continues during normal operation, then contact AppleCare and have the condition logged on file and/or receive resolution.

I just got the notice that a Flash update is available. So I go to run it and didn't notice the fine print and checkbox that is checked by default which would make Chrome my default browser and install the toolbar.
Really, Adobe, really? You have to resort to this kind of scumbaggery? You don't make enough money from selling legit products, so you have to make deals with google to do drive by installs?
And on top of that, there are exactly ZERO email links or forms to fill out for customer service. FFFFFFFFUUUUU!!!!!

"Fine print"?  It is large enough for me to see even here in the minimized form...

I concluded my one-year subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud and I contacted customer support and they canceled my subscription and they tell me that there will be no charge for canceling because I concluded my full year. I have a transctiption of that chat. Now I received an email telling me that "Per your request, we have reactivated your subscription to Creative Cloud", Whats going on here?. I didn't reactivated my account!, I already canceled my annual subscription. (Adobe) Really I don't need another year of Creative Cloud. The chat option is disabled and when I call to the phone number provided by Adobe, it only tells me to inititate a chat with and Adobe representative, but that option is disabled!. Are there still people taking care of customers?
How can I really (really) cancel my subscription?
Thank you if a human reads and attends my concern.

The CC purchased in Dec 12, 2013 have been cancelled successfully, you shall not be billed further.
