Recalling A Project

First off, I am using a MacPro and have a second drive for "media" only.
My procedure for starting a new project is first going to the media drive, opening a new folder and of course "naming" the folder/project.
I then open STP going to preferences and then to "General" hitting "Choose" to select the folder I have just named. I do the same with "Recording" to "choose" and locate the folder I just named.
I then proceed with the project periodicaly hitting command S to save the project, then finish and quit, making sure once again it (the project file) is being save to the correct folder on the media drive.
I ALWAYS checks this quite carefully.
Now my delemia.
The next day when recalling the project from my media drive I get
"can't find file...file not found in expected location".
This is followed by a path that is "out in left field" compared to where the file should be. I can sometimes get to the file by continuing to hit "skip"
however, when the file/project appears, the project is missing several files on the time line, and of course the missing are in red in the bin even though they are in the project folder on the media drive.
This is very frustrating insomuch I have no confidence in retreiving a project once I have quit out of it.
Hope this makes sence and I can find a QUICK solution!!!
Thanks

You can see them using ⌘-K, summoning the *Controller Assignments List*.
But how did you get them in the first place? Whenever you hit ⌘-L (learn mode), whatever next MIDI event you play will be 'learned' by Logic and used for whatever it is assigned to in this list, also meaning it won't be used as a note message anymore. It is a very common 'starters' problem. Just remember that Logic has over a thousand key commands, so any key you hit inadvertently might well do something in, with or to Logic. And it is not hard to hit the L when aiming for the O or P or ; ....
You can delete the assignments by simply selecting them in the *Controller Assignments List* and hitting delete. Better than trashing prefs.

  • How to fix "Adobe RoboHelp 7 has encountered a problem" error?

I am using Adobe RoboHelp 7 to create WebHelp, with Windows XP. I haven't worked on my help project for about 10 days, and suddenly when I try to open the project I get this message: "Adobe RoboHelp 7 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Other help projects DO open, so it's something about this one. I went to the TechNote called "Troubleshoot system errors and freezes in RoboHelp 7 (Windows XP)" and followed its first steps: downloaded all the updates for RoboHelp 7, installed current Windows service packs (except for IE 8, which gave me a problem last time I tried to install it), and deleted temporary files. None of these solved the problem. Now I am defragmenting my disk, but I don't have much hope for that.
Can anyone help? I'm near the end of my project and am under time pressure to make some changes!
    Thank you!

It is very rare for a project not to open after renaming the CPD and when it does, the HHP is the fallback. I cannot recall a project failing to open from the HHP, albeit with some damage.
As Willam says, I think you are going to have to look at the article on my site.
Many files have names based on the project name. Are they all correctly named? What I am getting at is whether a filename has got out of sync.

  • Advice needed for 4TB Time Machine Backups

I run a recording studio based around Logic Pro.
I typically have about 7-8 drives online at any given time with around 5TB, but would like to be able to keep more of it active longer. Most of these drives are backed up by Time Machine. But even with 4TB drives I find I quickly run out of space, and have to either delete old TM backups or buy new drives to keep a running TM archive.
While I periodically archive my stuff to optical, and have Backblaze and Dropbox for server space and insurance purposes, neither of those really address the immediacy and convenience of Time Machine for archival retrieval over the course of months or years. And it doesn't help really with boot drive history that doesn't make it to optical archives and isn't kept on backblaze anyway.
So, I have been considering some kind of Raid device, not necessarily for speed or NAS capability (although those might be nice), but mainly to break the 4TB limit and be able to keep my Time Machine growing as a resource for recalling older projects, etc.
It is likely that this will only be used for TM, although I could see potentially partitioning a bit for something else, depending on how big it is. Not sure.
    Things which are important:
•Ease of use. Hook up a FW, USB, ethernet, etc. cable, format some drives, and go. I'm not an IT tech.
    •$500 or less is preferred
•4 bays would give me room to expand to greater storage, which I think is the only thing that makes sense. might not be enough additional space to justify bothering with a 2-bay, since reliability is at a premium, I'll probably use the most data redundant RAID settings.
    •Reliable -- goes without saying
•Hot Swap and Ability to use mixed types of drives - It's not a big deal to keep a spare 3-4TB WD Red on hand, but it would be nice to be able to use whatever I might have handy lying around in case of a failure.
I have heard mixed reviews of Drobo, and better reviews of Synology products, but again, I'm not sure that I really need a NAS--just something simple and reliable--or as simple as something like this can be.
I welcome any advice on what products and brands people prefer for an application like this. Thank you.

    Thanks everyone.
These are some good directions to follow.
The issue I think is defining where in the spectum of backup to archival my needs fit.
The thing is, as soon as you go to an array of drives, both the risk and the cost goes up. To my mind, Time Machine is kind of a middle ground between archival and backup. I can make a manual backup quite easily, but TM automates this process elegantly, and gives you date-specific archival up to the point where storage has to recycle. I can also create fixed archives like optical backups of projects and boot clones, which I do every few months. I see those as true archives. But as a result I've accumulated some 3 dozen cheap green HDDs. Many of them archived TM drives. This is a nice safety feature, but it also gets expensive. Being able to go out to double-digit TB in theory with data redundant raids out to 10TB or more by my estimate would give me 2-3 years of instantaneous TM backup. And I've never been able to get more than about 3-4 months of erffective TM for a while now. Meaning I'm buying a new 4TB drive every few weeks to keep up with this.
Maybe I'm just lazy, but having all of my main drives fed into one TM backup is awfully convenient. I don't have to think too much about backups in the heat of my crazy deadlines, libraries and project data constantly changing and being updated, etc.
A Jbod device and a virtual raid as Grant suggested would fill the bill to solve the problem but it makes me nervous, because the possibility of drive failure will be multiplied by the number of drives in use.
What doesn't appeal to me about any multi-drive scenario is that it's putting all the eggs in one basket and making the TM vulnuerable to corruption or being fried because if it gets hosed, I won't have any archived versions other than the array and my sporadic manual archives. I won't be able to go find the single TM archive on the shelf and pop it in anymore to go backwards. Once I become dependent on multiple drive arrays, there is no easy way to rotate backups, and I will have to do other forms of archival more frequently. It's all a risk-benefit equation and there is no such thing as a free lunch, as we know.
The Drobo 5D is beginning to appeal to me because it at least has dual drive failure redundancy and can rebuild even with the loss of 2 drives. I just wish it had more universal approval in the reviews department. Some people love is, some hate it. I would have to really commit to this thing, and fill it to capacity to amortize its cost over a long period of time.
    Thanks again for the responses.

  • Do I really need to write ANY code to create menus

I need to create a Enhanced CD. You know....a CD, that when
put into a computer pops up with menus and options to play music,
videos, goto a website display a PDF etc......
I know Director does this, because the last Enhanced CD I saw
had a lillte "d" in the upper left hand corner and also a message
that said MADE WITH MACROMEDIA (now Adobe).
So my question is if I buy Director, will I need to know any
code or Lingo? I know very little HTML, but thats about it. Was
something like this created via a drag and drop process, or do I
need to be a genius...or maybe a super genius?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    It's been a long time since I first used Director, I can't
    recall a
project that didn't some amount of coding.
Your brief description doesn't include anything overly
    complicated, but
will require an understanding of the fundamentals of Lingo.
    Director
comes with some pre-built code widgits and there are 3rd
    party Xtras
(some free, some that cost) which can make the job easier.
The best thing of all is the tremendous help that you will
    get on this
forum. The only real question is do you have the time
    required to learn
    how to use the product?

  • Length of Timeline inaccurate... causing iDVD problems..

    Hey there
I've got a timeline with 53 minutes of video but iMovie says its length is over 90 minutes. It's registering the last 40 minutes as black. There are no clips beyond that first 53 minutes... if I try to burn in iDVD, it burns a 90 minute movie with 40 minutes of black. Anybody have any suggestions on how to resolve this?
    Thanks!

Coincidentally, I had the same problem today after reading your note. It's a problem I've seen a few times in the past too, where I have confirmed there is no hanging audio clip at the end of the project, yet the project keeps playing,
On today's project, and the others too if I recall, the project ends with an audio clip that extends a few seconds past the last video clip. A much-longer audio clip was split there, and the trailing (split) clip discarded. Yet the project thinks the project shouldn't end until the end of the discarded clip.
Exporting to an H.264 movie exported with the "wrong" (too-long) length. However, exporting to a Full Quality movie exported with the correct length.
So a workaround may be to export to a Full Quality DV movie, then drag that movie into the iDVD project. That won't deliver chapters, however. If you need chapters, re-import the Full Quality movie to another project, add the chapters there, and send it off to iDVD.

The error style hits were for not using an error- no error case (especially in your action engines!) to implement "Standard Error" Functionallity. like this example (from my library of vits)
That mistake would cost you!  Mostly in time debugging your projects getting down to the root error.  Unhandled hidden errors are your worst nightmare!  There is a reason to take no action on error in.bool=True.
Now, as to the result window.  I did take the time to put your example solution into a project and analyzed the project not just the main vi.  (on Friday you will be given a project to start from.  If I recall correctly "Projects" are LabVIEW Core I Module 2 material so you should have been exposed to them long before now and in no way for any reason "Scared away from using a project"
"Cyclic complexity" is probably low priority.  your code will run.  But when this hit comes up it is a clue that you may have chosen a less than optimal design pattern.  In this case you chose a simple state machine AND THAT WILL WORK! but the choices for "next state" are dependant on user interaction so your "next state" decisions are over complicated and you get the cyclic complexity warning.  You should be familiar with other design patterns as well as the standard state machine.  I would have chosen a P-C (Events) loop QMH and taken the small hit in overhead for wiring in a queue (not too bad if you start with New... and select the design pattern template)
Yes, I was probably a little harsh with my criticism.  There were several good point about your code but the major, easy to identify, flaws need addressing and you are under a "time crunch" (Friday is tomarrow)  A tweak to the error problem and documentation (TIP STRIPS on user controls and VI documentation are musts! and the most points per minute you can earn)  should get you over the gap and give you a shot at earning a polo

  • Building DAQmx 7.1 application without hardware

    Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has been in this situation, and perhaps solved
    it...
I am working on a 7.1 application that uses DAQmx. I do the work on my
laptop, without the hardware. It would be nice if I could create an
executable on that laptop. But when I try, the executable fails to work on
the target computers. One of them has LabVIEW installed, but we are
    geographically separated.
When I start the created executable on a target I get (it does work on the
    laptop):
    +++++++++++++++
An error occurred loading VI 'DAQmx Read(Analog 2D DBL NChan NSamp).vi'.
Labview load error code 21: An external subroutine required for execution
    could not be found
An error occurred loading VI 'DAQmx Read(Analog 1D DBL NChan NSamp).vi'.
Labview load error code 21: An external subroutine required for execution
    could not be found
Missing subVI DAQmx Read(Analog 2D DBL NChan NSamp).vi in VI Aquire Motor
    Data.vi
Missing subVI DAQmx Read(Analog 2D DBL NChan NSamp).vi in VI Aquire Motor
    Data.vi
Missing subVI DAQmx Read(Analog 1D DBL NChan NSamp).vi in VI Hardware
    Control.vi
    +++++++++++++++
Now this is probably a problem with DAQmx versions. I have 7.1, 8.2.1 and
8.5 on my laptop, while the other pc only has 7.1 runtime engine.
I could live with dynamically loaded external libraries, but I am not sure
    how that will turn out.
Does anyone have other ideas, or experiance with my solution?
    Regards,
    Wiebe.

so, then what version of DAQmx do you have installed on the laptop
    Dennis, thanks for the reply.
Yes, I have LV version 7.1, 8.2.1 and 8.5 on my laptop.
I can't really check the version of DAQmx on the other PC, but I have
version 4.4.1. This version is copyrighted 2007, and I'm sure the remote
PC's are installed around 2002. So they have an older version of DAQmx for
    sure.
    > and did you install the same version on the other pc?
No. We had lots of trouble to get it working, and I really don't want to
install new a new version, unless it is absolutely needed.
    > The error messages imply that you don't have DAQmx installed at all on it.
You are right. I've checked the DAQmx VI's from the remote system, and they
use the same dll, nilvaiu.dll. So now it is an even greater mystery, thanks!
Just kidding... The two vi's are 100% identical.
Why would a vi be able to find the dll, and a natively build exe also, while
    my exe can't find it?
    >Did you install MAX on the other pc and can you use that to verify DAQmx is
    there and working?
Yes. I can actually run the LabVIEW application on that PC without any
problems. I can also build an executable on the remote pc and this exe runs
fine on all the remote PC's. I can also run Measurement explorer without
    problems.
I do recall a project where I explicitly add DAQmx vi's to my project as
dynamic vi's. I did not know why I ever did that, but it might be related.
    Thanks again,
    Wiebe.

  • Project Server 2007: use cannot add lines to or recall timesheet

I have a certain user that, for some reason, cannot use the Add Lines or Recall Timesheet function in Project Server 2007 SP3. The weird thing is, it works on another laptop, so it must be something related to the user's machine - but I'm baffled as to what
    the exact cause may be.
There's no error what so ever - no Error On Page as is pretty common with these behaviors.
Here's what I've tried so far:
    - Internet Explorer 8 version is supported
    - Deleted ActiveX controls, but these don't seem to be a prerequisite for Timesheets
    - IE Compatibility mode on/off
I have no idea what else to check, and I want to make sure I've tackled everything before escalating this to SysOps for a browser/OS reinstall.

    Hi DMachiels,
Have you tried to refresh your IE session deleting the cache (CTRL F5)?
Also ensure that the PWA URL is include in the IE trusted sites (intranet and internet).

  • "Unable to open project file" Error Message

I pulled an all-nighter (13 hours of editing) last night to create a critical project in FCE 3.5.1 on my Intel iMac running 10.4.11 then left this afternoon for a few hours and shut down my machine. Came back tonight and tried to open the project (which I saved on my Maxtor 1 TB external drive along with all of the scratch disk files). To my absolute panic, it won't open the file now with an error message that simply says, "Unable to open project file". HELP!!!! Anyone have any suggestions?!?!

In the past I found (and reported to Apple Feedback) the same bug Steve reports here, but I should recall that the problem:
    - only appeared in PAL projects (probably not the case for kscritch) - never heard of it in NTSC
    - was consistent in FCE 3.x, not so in FCE 4
I made tests importing .psd images with transparency into PAL projects using FCE 4, and I had various behaviours: sometimes the project worked, sometimes I couldn't open the project again (as in FCE 3), sometimes I had error messages with inconsistent behaviour (msg like "file error", but the project opened and file was there...), etc. so I decided to do without.
Now I only import .tif or .png images when I need transparency

  • Is it time yet for Microsoft to "Recall" Office 2013 and provide anyone who has a 2013 license a replacement Office 2010 license?

The interface is terrible and can't be changed.  Every application in the suite locks up/crashes nearly constantly on any machine it is used on.  The activation process is terrible and wastes hours of any support/IT dept's time.  From a 'privacy
standpoint', the software is seemingly criminally intrusive.  It is clearly a product that should never have been released and is so far from functional that it can't be repaired by any 'service pack', 'hotfix', or 'patch'.  It needs to be completely
    scrapped.
The only 'redeeming quality' of this software is that the guy who was in charge of creating it is gone from Microsoft.  (Unfortunately, he is now President Obama's appointee for running the attempt at repairing the 'healthcare.gov' website...
out of the frying pan...   )
When the software is installed using one profile (domain or machine account) and a different profile tries to use the software, it requires 're-activation' - which often fails because the software believes it has been installed multiple times. (This is particularly
frustrating because it has to be installed by an administrative user, but most of the time, the person who 'uses' the software is not the 'administrator' - so it is almost always being 'installed' using one profile and 'used' using another profile).
The necessary intrusion into privacy created by the requirement of a "Microsoft Account" to use the software is seemingly criminal.
The tracking of, and installation of licenses is absolutely ridiculous.
    An example:
Many of my clients have many users and many computers (up to 75 or so).
I could create a "Microsoft User Account" for each 'user', but these machines get moved between users, and the software license is tied to the 'machine' and not to the 'user' so as soon as that happens, the licenses and the users are no longer
in line and become impossible to track.
I could create a "Microsoft User Account" for each 'computer'... and I can't even count the ways this would be a nightmare to try to track.
I actually did that up front for one client, and created Exchange email boxes for each computer so that "prove you are really you" emails from Microsoft could be received managed, and responded to, and passed out second usernames and passwords
to all of the users so they could "log-in" to their Office 2013 software, and created a database of the 'computer usernames and passwords' so I could track this... unfortunately, this confused the users (as it rightfully should) so they would change
the passwords for their computer's 'Microsoft User Account' thus locking me out and invalidating my database, ... and... CLUSTERF#%K!!!
As a 'best - worst case', I have had to create a single 'Microsoft User Account" for each of my clients' businesses so I can install and activate Office 2013 products.  This is a whole new set of "Awesome Stupidity".
Now, I can put a new computer into a client's office and install their new license key for their oem Office 2013, and it shows up in the 'business's Microsoft User Account'.  Then when I give the machine to the user, I get to 're-activate' the software
(hoping that it doesn't tell me to piss-off - which happens about 40% of the time.  This is a process that can only be described as a "feat of engineering created by a group of monkeys whose former jobs included 'janitor at MAD magazine headquarters'
    or 'beer-pong referee').
It starts with two hours of pressing phone buttons and ultimately talking to someone who tells me "yeah, nothin' I can do about that I'm just here for product activation" (which, incidentally, is done by machine until you pass through MS's ridiculous
labyrinth of repetitious keystroking until the machine is convinced you are just too stupid to punch in the right numbers and allows you to talk to a person... who then asks you for the exact same set of numbers and repeats back the exact same responding set
of numbers and acts dumbfounded when it still doesn't work - since it didn't work the first six times you punched or said it into the phone) followed by "I need to send you to the support group... but because it's 6:30 pm (in a process you started at
3:00pm) they are gone for the day and you'll have to call back on Monday morning"
At some point in the process, you get to log into the "Microsoft user account" and 'roll the roulette wheel of stupidity' by trying to activate the right software from a list of 40 different lines that all say "Microsoft Office 2013 Home and
Business oem", but none give any indicator or differentiating factor like for instance: license key, date installed, license key last 4 digits, mother's maiden name, phase of moon when software was first activated, color or type of blood of the user's
paperboy's dog's previous owner... NOTHING... RANDOM FREAKING STAB IN THE DARK - pick one, any one, hope its the license you are trying to install onto this machine, 'cause if not, you very well may kill the product on some other machine.
So through the process, the lucky support staff person gets' to waste roughly an hour and a half on average for every Microsoft Office 2013 installation.  I have actually had to start telling my clients that they are going to likely have to pay an extra
$100 or so per machine in order to get their new Microsoft Office software which comes on their new computer activated - that number tends to work out roughly accurately - except that it is a terrible way of trying to 'please a client'.
Oh,... and did I mention... "THE SOFTWARE CONSISTANTLY FAILS"!?!
A client tries to open a document that they have been using for 8 years and Excel doesn't say "Hey, I don't know how to deal with some element of the file that you put in here using Excel 2003, or Office 2010 (both products, by the way, which worked
great) - no... instead,... it crashes.  Doesn't really do any damage to the file it choked on, but the work you'd been doing on three other files which you also had open,... yeah,... that work is gone.
Yeah,.... over time, I have developed a pretty consistent spiel for client's needing new computers that goes over how absolutely terrible Office 2013 is, and explains that our options are further limited by Microsoft's yanking of all Office 2010 or previous
products from market availability, and explaining the merits of both LibreOffice and OpenOffice, as well as their drawbacks.  I also have a strangely static response explaining how "larger companies are not burdened by these issues because they are
able to use MOPL which allows them to downgrade their productivity software to Office 2010 so they can continue to function happily, but this is really not a cost effective solution for smaller companies who primarily buy oem Office products with their replacement
    computers".
Unfortunately, many clients still decide they want to go with Office 2013 because they apparently believe "it really can't be that bad".  The value in my 'presale descriptions' are only really realized when they come back to me a week, two
weeks, or up to a month after the new machine is in place and say "wow,... you were right".  The place I am left open for any further problems is when I don't impress upon them beforehand just HOW BAD OFFICE 2013 REALLY IS.  In that case,
they still come back to me as though I have done something wrong foe selling them this piece of $#!% software and I have to remind them of our previous discussions.
Strangely, far too few heed the warnings and buy the software anyway - but the discussion has saved many clients the costs of Microsoft Project, because the discussion of LibreOffice and OpenOffice nearly always leads to at least a small philosophical conversation
about 'Open Source Software' in general, and my absolute favorite descriptive analogy in that discussion is to compare Microsoft Project at $600 v. ProjectLibre at $0 - and then further describe the costs of licensing and implementing the associated back-end
    server solutions, etc.
This is a saving grace for me, because even though the client has been saddled with Office 2013, they have also saved substantially on Project and it is a rare (but granted, not absolutely absent) occasion that ProjectLibre is lacking some feature or function
that they actually need or want to use - and on those occasions, finding out has cost them absolutely nothing in software purchases.
Its not surprising, I suppose, that clients have grown to accept Office as a required 'cost', but still choke heavily on the price-tag of Project every time they have to buy it.  The interesting thing to watch over the coming couple of years will be
'how many businesses stop accepting MS Office as a 'required cost' due to the failing of the software itself and the fact that most are being burned, at least once, by purchasing the software "against technical advice" and are learning, merely by
virtue of HOW BAD Office is, that there are other options out there that both cost less and work better... I mean,... LOTS BETTER.
How many businesses that are used to accepting the cost of Microsoft Office as a cost of doing business will be moved over to open source options and satisfied by them by the time Microsoft releases its next version - which will, presumably work - such that
they will no longer justify the cost of Microsoft's offering even if it is 'superior' to the open source offerings because the open source offerings are plenty sufficient and include a price tag of $0 and an installation/implementation time that is much, much
    shorter than Microsoft's offering.
If Microsoft doesn't make some dramatic reparations, and do it soon, I expect their market share will be reduced in this area by a very significant margin.
I am suggesting either a 'Complete Recall' of Office 2013 including an 'uninstall 2013/install 2010' process driven by the automatic update engine, or at the very least, a free and easy downgrade rights offering for anybody who has already purchased 2013
and anyone who purchases it between now and the time the next "functional product" is released.

I understand the inconvenience you are experiencing when working with Office 2013.
If you have any feedback about Office 2013 product, click the and submit to Microsoft.
Microsoft will decide how to fix the problem for all customers.
For the activation mechanism, it intends to protect customers of their rights and interests.
For a retail version of Office, if it was purchased with a disk, Microsoft account is not necessary during the installation.

  • Error message" The file may be damaged or corrupted -1610153464/ also unable to open projects in the background 26:: 142

    Hello everyone,
I hope someone can help me.
    I am using AE CC/Windows 7 on a Dell computer, 32 GB RAM, 64 bit op system, processors: Intel (R) Xeon (R) CPU x5670 @ 2.93 Ghz 2.93 Ghz (2 processors).
So far I had worked on many projects with no problems and then a few weeks ago the project crashed non stop. The problem was overcome when I got rid of all MP3s and converted them to RAM. Again this was an issue I didn't have in the past and I don't recall changing anything.
Now it seems it is impossible for me to export/render out a project into a Quick time file or even AVI. If its quick time I get this message: After Effects unable to render error  an output module failed. The file may be damaged or corrupted -1610153464 and if I am trying to export with AVI I get this message: AE unable to open projects in the background 26:: 142)
This is happening with different projects.
I read the forums and heard that the problem may be a Bug with quicktime and H.264? I never had a problem with it before but again when I try to export AVI I get this error message:
AE unable to open projects in the background
I have a feeling it is quick time related. I have uninstalled and reinstalled QT but still get the problem. It will open old QT files no problem. I tried to download a bug fix update as one post suggested but I think I have the latest which is why it didn't work.
This particular project has a couple of quick media H.264 files. Do I need to convert them? Are they the cause for all of this?
I am sorry I really tried to look for answers in the forums before contacting you here but I cannot find a reason for all this mess, which again only appeared a few weeks ago with no problems for months...if someone can point out an area where I can start looking, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

update: I converted all the H.264 footage which were in the project to WMV. And I was able to test export with AVI and it turne dout fine (like 10 seconds). However I still got the Error message: "After Effects unable to render error an output module failed, a filme may be corrupted or damaged.  Error-1610153464 " when I tried to export H.264 QT..
I don't know what to do now, how can a problem which did not exist suddenly come up. How can I export a QT file? with AVI it will be massive!
    Many thanks
    Amanda

  • I imported a COMPLETED book project into Aperture 3, only to discover that  the resolution of all the photos has been reduced to totally unacceptable levels

I imported a COMPLETED book project into Aperture 3, only to discover that  the resolution of all the photos has been reduced to totally unacceptable levels.  Any easy solution?
    Steps:
    1. I finished an Aperture 2 (Two) book project and tried to submit it to Apple for printing. At that point I learned (belatedly, obviously) that Apple no longer accepts books from Aperture 2. I don't know how I would have known to even ask if Aperture 2 had been sunsetted as far as book projects go.
    2. So I tried to download Aperture 3 ($79.99), only to be told that I couldn't download Aperture 3.5.1 because I was still running OSX 10.8.x. So I read current reviews for OSX 10.9.x, and ...
    3. Downloaded and installed the current operating system (about a 3-hours process for me).  OSX 10.9.2, here we are!
    4. Then I returned to the Apple Store, found, and purchased Aperture 3.  [For safety's sake, it would sure be nice to have a .dmg file I could copy and file away.  I lost a perfectly legal and good copy of Adobe's Photoshop Elements 3 years ago because I wasn't smart enough to make a safety copy, and when my iMac crashed (fried electronic components), I was left with a copy of the software that wouldn't run, and couldn't be verified as legit.]
    5. When Aperture 3 finished installing, I found and imported my COMPLETED Aperture 2 book project, which import seemed to proceed nominally -- the right number of pages, the right content on those pages, that sort of thing -- until I started looking more carefully at the pictures themselves.  All of them, about 300 of them, have been imported into an Aperture 3 book project in such a reduced resolution that they are fuzzy at the size the book will be printed.  Screen-capture of just one example (at 100% viewer setting):
I don't know what to do at this point to correct the problem, short of going through the entire book project, copy the custom captions (since those go away when you "delete" photo content), delete the photo, re-insert the photo, and paste back the custom caption.  Lather, rinse, repeat - ~300 times!  An estimated 2-3 hours of additional work.
Or does anyone in this community know either (1) that I did something wrong in the Aperture 2-to-Aperture 3 import (I don't recall being offered any options or choices in the process); or (2) that there is a wholesale one-step solution to my problem?
BTW, I tried to edit my "Product" info, but OSX 10.9.x is not in the pick list.  I am running OSX 10.9.2
    <Re-Titled By Host>

Frank, thanks for your note.  I wrote "COMPLETED" because I had gone to a lot of effort to get the content of the book precisely as I wanted it. I would fully expect to see my level of effort and care matched by functional competence in Aperture 3 to render the book the way I created it.  Too much to ask?
And yes, I upgraded the Aperture 2 Library first.  [Not ALL my tens of 000s of pix, because I use Lightroom selectively for photo editing. But Yes to the Aperture 2 Library.]  That step took a number of minutes, but seemed to work fine (no error messages of any kind).
Then I opened the existing book project in Aperture 3, which followed some "magic-box" process that took a minute or so.  As I said, when that step was done, by all appearances the book was ready to submit for printing - until I examined the photos a little more closely.  You did see the blurry example I included, didn't you? That is what each and every photo looks like.
Text-box content appears to have been rendered pertectly, for the record (including captions).
So, ... is this result something you have heard of before?  Do you know of a one-step solution?  Or am I looking at an extended picture-by-picture fix?

Travel and detours have kept me from following up sooner. If the problem that you wrote about still persists.....
Let us go back over that Adobe document regarding troubleshooting damaged projects.
    3. Delete the Application Preferences
Where you able to follow that path and delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file at the end of the path? And, after you did, did the saved/closed programs still refuse to open? If you could not carry out this procedure, what were the limiting factors that kept you from do
    7. Test to see if individual media files are causing the problem.
That is an important one. How far did you get into following the instructions given in the document? If you could not complete the test, what was the major block that prevented you from doing so?
I want to make sure that we have gone through everything in that document and ruled all factors there in or out. If it was a matter of you not understanding the instructions, I am hoping that the above will channel you questions to me so that I can clarify anything that you did not understand in the Adobe document instructions.
I do not recall if I asked previously. Even if you cannot open all your saved/closed projects, can you still open a new project and save/close it? Maybe even reopen it?
    Please review and consider.
    Thank you.
