Received GPF error upon closing Adobe Acrobat 8

Hello, does anyone know if there is a fix for this?
(1) In windows XP, Install Adobe acrobat 8 professional.
(2) Launch adobe, Click Help-->Check for Updates... to update to 8.1.2 or the latest.
(3) Launch adobe, again, select Edit-->Preferences, select "Documents" tab, turn on the checkbox "Enable Version Cue file-version manager".
(4) Download Adobe Acrobat 8.1 SDK
(5) Program a simple MFC to include the acrobat.cpp and acrobat.h from the SDK, and code a method like this and make a call to it:

Click on OK to terminate the program
This issue seems only occurs after the latest patches are applied to adobe 8, and after the option in step (3) is turned on, and if launching adobe programmatically through API call.
Thanks in advance if anyone knows how to fix this or if there is something I can get from adobe to get it fixed.

So, you're enabling an option that requires a piece of software you don't have installed to function properly, and you're surprised it can cause unexpected behaviour?
Adobe Version Cue is a seperate product. It does not install with Adobe Acrobat. Why would you enable an option without actually knowing what it does, and then complain that it causes problems?

    Hi,
    I developed a plugin which captures Before/After open, close and save events and perform some operation inside these events.
    I tested the plugin in Windows XP and Acrobat 9.0.0 and 10.0.0 and everything works fine. But when in test my plugin on Windows Server 2008 Standard 32 bits, then windows detect an error while closing the acrobat and shows the following message:
    "Data Execution Prevention has closed Adobe Acrobat"
    I am using Acrobat 10.0.0 for testing in Windows Server 2008 operating system. Also, debugging the program shows no error but plugin does not produce the desired result when tested on Windows Server 2008 Standard 32 bits operating system.
    Can anyone please giude me how to resolve this issue??

    Are you really using 10.0.0?  You've installed no updates to it??

  • How do I fix Error 1602 in Adobe Acrobat X (Windows 8.1)

    I just did a clean install of Windows 8.1 (64-bit) on my Dell laptop with 8GB of RAM and an i5 processor.
    I then installed Adobe Acrobat X from the Adobe download site and used the product key that I have.  The install completed successfully and I've used Acrobat to review and edit a few documents.  Everything seems fine.
    The issue I'm having is that Acrobat X has downloaded software updates for me to apply.  However, when I try to apply them, I click on Install and then receive the following in a dialog box:
    Update Failed
    An error occurred.  Adobe Acrobat Updater will try again later.
    Error:  1602
    I have researched a fix on-line, but those fixes are for Windows XP and Vista for Acrobat 8 and 9.
    I would appreciate any help you all can provide.

    try renaming the arm directory for your acrobat x using the info for 8 and 9,

  • Error upon closing or upload to Printer Cs6

    Hi All,
    I am getting an error upon closing my created business card.:
    "The font AlienEncounters could not be embedded in the PDF document because of licensing restrictions. Stroked text will not be visible."
    For one there is no Stroke to the text. Another is the fact even when saving out as a PDF high quality print PDF same thing.
    I am over at an online print shop and am getting the same error upon upload. IT will not accept the file....?
    Alien Encounters is the stock font that comes with Cs6 why am I getting this? I am not sure about saving as a PNG if I lose any rez?

    Also when trying to select all my text boxes it is not doing to well. It could be my way of layout??
    I have two AI files within one document, the created logo in AI and then another AI file for a business card. The Alien Encounters Font does not have licensing bits as it states
    when closing the saved file. I assume that is the problem.
    Do you know if I will lose any res if (the artboard this file was created on)  is actual size of 2x3.5 biz card and if I save it out as a PNG with 350ppi that should stay good enough for print? When I send it over to the printers and than they upload it to a 2x3.5 card stock to print it on... I know keeping it vector art thru and thru is best but it looks like I may need this work around

    Is there a way to get more detailed error messages from Adobe Acrobat reader when he detecs an error in a PDF file?
    My program generates PDF files. There is one that throws an error in Acrobat while GhostScript and Google Chromes PDF Reader display it correctly.
    I wonder where the error is, but the error message is just "expected dictionary", when I hold CTRL and press "OK".
    GhostScript usually gives useful error messages, but it has no error this time.

    I have Windows 8.1, and I am attempting to download Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro from the content disc provided when I purchased Creative Suite 5 some time ago. During installation, I received the Error 1500 message. No existing forum is solving my problem. I have tried unregistering, then re-registering my Windows Installer. There are also no mid-installation processes in my registry. Also, the fact that I can only get customer support over a forum is unpleasant to me.     I would like to inform you that there could also be an issue with the compatibility between Acrobat 9 pro and windows 8.1 as it was not tested on win 8.1.

  • Error Message With Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 Free Trial Version

    Hi,
    I know that this is a holiday weekend, but I need assistance with Adobe Acrobat 9 Free Trial Version.  I downloaded it, and then created a PDF file from MS Word 2007.  I tried to print, but the "save as" command popped up.  I had already saved it, so it already had a document name.  I tried resaving it and it would not do so.  Here's the error message that I received:
    "Adobe PDF cannot access the file because it is in use by another application process.  Verify that the file is not open by another application or process and try again.
    I did not have another app open.  Also, during this time, the software setup box kept popping up.  I kept selecting the 30 day trial version, but nothing would happen after I selected the button.  I am using the Vista OS on my computer.  I also have the Adobe Reader 9 which I have had for a while.
    I uninstalled and reinstalled the free version of Adobe Acrobat 9 and got the same result as described above.  If someone can help me with this, I would greatly appreciate it.  Thanks.

    You have a problem. You cannot have Reader and Acrobat Pro on the same computer. It causes problems. Normally, I'd tell you to uninstall Reader and re-install Acrobat Pro, but doing so might make your trial fail and you cannot get two trials. For the moment when trying to create a pdf file, try printing to the the Adobe PDF virtual printer.

    It also has a checkbox to hide this message.

    There might be chance either the security software is blocking Adobe to search for updates over the internet or it could be issue with your computer while communication over the network that it is being redirected from the path everytime.
    You may try to reset internet explorer back to default settings . For help http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737.
    Also you can try to rename the host file on the computer : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034
    Or you can download the update manually from adobe com and install : http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows

    I just attempted to download a trial of Adobe Acrobat and I encountered this error from Adobe Download Assistant:
    Sorry, an error has occurred.

  • "Capture 3D plug-in damaged" error upon start of Acrobat 9 Pro Extended - Possible Fix

    After installing Acrobat Pro Extended 9.0.332, I received a "capture 3d plug-in damaged" error every time the program started. Looking for remnants of SolidWorks in the registry found nothing.
    Here's what fixed the problem for me:
    I am running Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. The following two entries in the registry were incorrect, with the default correct values shown:

    In the case of the first registry key, Kaspersky had previously entered several DLL's, separated by commas. When the Acrobat installer modified this key, it did not put a comma in front of "acaptuser32.dll", in effect making this dll invisible to Acrobat.
    In the case of the second registry key, dword was found "1", I changed to "2".
    It turns out that no repair of Acrobat was necessary, after all; just knowing where to look in the registry. No more error message on startup and the Capture3D tool works OK.
    I hope this helps others.

    I have Windows 7.1 and Acrobat 9 Pro Extended  9.4.3. I started receiving the error message, but once I corrected the registry keys it started working. I had previously used the Acrobat 9 Pro Extended  repair option three times with no success.
    The correct entry for me was:

    I did not need to modify the following as it was already there:

    REPAIR doesen't change anything, the program still doesn't work (not respond, any reaction when I try open pdf. file) That why I need always install from beginning itæs the only one thing what is helpfull. But not for long. After few weeks problem coming back.
