Recent computer crash but saved data of harddrive that is now local drive in new PC. How do I access my saved itunes library in what is now a local drive? and

Recently had a PC crash. All data and information on hard drive was saved and reinstalled in new PC as a local drive. How do I access the saved music library that exsists onwhat is now a local drive in the new PC. My itunes account only shows purchased songs. I know my saved library is here, but I can't figure out how to access and get the saved library on itunes.

Locate the iTunes folder from the user profile on the rescued drive, typically at X:\Users\<User>\Music\iTunes. Delete the "empty" iTunes library from your current User's Music folder and copy in the originial library in its place.

  • Computer restore without saving itunes library....help

My computer had to be restored to original settings and I did not know that you can only sync the ipod to one library at a time and did not transfer it. Now that ITunes is reinstalled I cant sync my ipod to get the songs I just bought without erasing all my old songs. I have tried the manage manually but it still says the songs was not copied to the ipod because I am not authorized to play them on the computer. How do I fix this?

    Hi Shugabutt
you need to take all of your music manually off your ipod onto your computer.
Whethere you use 3rd party software or this way ill try to help you as best i can.
You need to be able to view hidden files on your computer , you need to go to the control panel and find folder options. (i believe that you could change the settings on in the windows explorer by clicking view at the top menu bar. you need to click it so that you can see the hidden files. (i think this explains simply what i said Tools -> Folder Options -> View, and then check (enable) the option “Show hidden files and folders.”)
Next find your ipod now if you have enabled hidden files you need to click on your ipod and find a folder called ipod control. the folder itself will look different maybe a bit transparent because it is hidden. Next you will go in and if you explore further you will see loads of files (transparent like ipod control) with things like F34 F01 (or F1) etc.
They are the files with your music on it and if you click on them, they will show music files but they wont have names. they are encrypted with file names like AKLY (basically four letters or 3 letters put together in capitals) so to get the names and other suff back simply drag the music files into itunes or import them individually (the folders) into itunes by clicking file, import into itunes and by folder.
Then once you have done this the names should be correct in Itunes.
Alternitavely you can drag all the files in 'ipod control' into an external Hard Drive if you go into itunes prefrences you can let itunes put all your music on your computer into organized files of album names.
*Also telling itunes in prefrences to organize music when you import helps* as it orgainsises songs into albums and artists.
Hope that Helped (if you don't understand what i said this guide is pretty good http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/copying-music-from-ipod-to-co mputer/P0)
Also if your willing to spend money by doing all of this in one click then this program for £14 (not sure in $) is really good. the free version (does 5 songs at a time) but the great thing is, is that it transfers directly to itunes you can get it here http://www.findleydesigns.com/
if you want to transfer your purchases then you need to go to itunes File>Transfer Purchases from Itunes and all of your purchases will be on your computer

I was importing photos to iphoto and somehow lost access to my iTunes library. when i open iPhoto, it asks me to select a library, but there are no photo libraries present for me to select. I cant find my pictures and have no access to my iPhoto.

somehow lost access to my iTunes library.
What does iTunes have to do with this?   Also more specific information might be helpful.
What system and iPhoto versions are you running?
Where are you being asked to select a library?  What kind of library, iPhoto or iTunes?
What do you see when you first launch iPhoto?

  • My mac air want shut down, had to force shut after computer freezing in itunes, box with saving itunes library has been up for 30 mins

I have had a day of it. wanted to join my new pc computer to my itune account. one problem to many devices on my account and two are ones that got broken and couldn't be deauthrise. sooo i deauthrised all computers. my mac air was sitting beside me so i thought i will authrise it again, was that a mistake as my computer became very slow when i went into itunes. it froze and not in the spinning disc way, in the was doing nothing way. held power button in, after waiting 10 mins and it went to gray screen with itune boxs saying "saving itunes library". its been doing this over 30 mins now and will not shut down or anything esle because when i try power button again it says i have not logged out of itune and should do this before it can shut down. not happy!!!! this is after 2 hours prior apple tried very hard sale to get me to buy there tech support for £100. I have never had a problem before, doesn't that seem strange?

Exactly what did you do to run Disk Utility and exactly what happened up to the freeze?
I called some place to ask for advice and they said it could be my logic board???
That's an easy answer to give but not necessarily the correct one.
If you have the system restore disc that came with your Mac, boot with that disc in the Mac while holding down the "D" key. That will invoke hardware diagnostics. Run those several times to investigate the possibility that your Mac has a hardware flaw.

i have recently update ios6 but it's not responding so i would like to backup this update, how colud i do so?

    What is not responding?
Did you perform the update via iTunes orover the air?
If iTunes, then all your data is backed up automatically.
Did you make sure to use only the latest version of iTunes (10.7 for PC users)?
If you are saying you want to leave IOS 6 and go back to 5, that is not possible. Apple stops signing previous builds typically within 24 hours from launch.

Have you copied your content over from your old computer and onto the new on ? If not, and you still have your old computer, then there a number of methods described on this page which you can use to copy your library over : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527 . If you no longer have your old computer then have you got a backup of your content that you can copy onto the new computer and add into iTunes ?

Unless you've recently attempted to downgrade iTunes this is probably a sign of a corrupt library file. See Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash.

  • Message "saving itunes library"

When I tried to turn off my computer last night it was aborted by the message "saving itunes library". It is still trying to save this morning. What do I need to do??

When closing iTunes it will save the data base file before finally closing.
You can try to 'Force Quit' iTunes - esc+'option' +  keys held down together will give you the Force Quit dialog box - or from the  drop down menu.
If that doesn't work try a 'Force Quit' of the Finder. After that you could reboot if still having problems.

  • 'Saving iTunes Library" Message

for the last few months my home computer's (Windows XP Pro SP2) iTunes displays this message 'Saving iTunes Library" and takes 10 to 20 seconds to close. Now this never used to occur, and it doesn't occur on any of my laptops or other computers at home nor work. Any idea of why this is occuring and how to stop it?

Well, I wouldn't dare to call you an idiot
If you open iTunes and directly afterwards close it again you wouldn't expect to "save" your library 'cause nothing has changed. But even if you import, rename etc., all actions are completed instantly. It would be "bad" programming to occupy system resource for such a long time after exiting a program...
I agree with you, that it is not a real error message. Probably iTunes way to say, that it can't close because there is still some action going on in the iTunes folder (bij the antivirus program).
Anyway, I had this message too and only after I excluded the folder from my antivirus program it was gone.

  • Saving iTunes Library ... forever

12 hours ago I tried to quit iTunes and got a "Saving iTunes Library ..." message with the ominous blue barber pole spinning away. It is still going... I have about 14 gbs in iTunes so do I just wait or shut down or what? I can't log out - the saving message reappears. Any suggestions?

Hopefully you use Time Machine or some other backup solution, because I think the only thing you can do is force quit iTunes or even manually power down the computer if necessary. The library file may become corrupted, in which case you really shouldn't have to worry about losing any of your music and other files, but things like playlists and ratings may be lost if the library is damaged.
If you have any problems after restarting your computer, please post a follow-up.

That crash appears to be casued by the Facebook plug-in.
Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts or Users & Groups on 10.7 and 10.8), make a new Library in that account, import some shots  and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.

Exclude your iTunes folder from your antivirus program.
For me it is NOD32, and whenever I re-install or upgrade I have to do this, otherwise the annoying "saving itunes library" error pops up on exit...
If you haven't done anything to the antivirus program, maybe you renamed your folder or the location where the iTunes folder is located and you have to change that in the antivirus program as well...
This worked for me... Hope it helps you out!
