Reception & Dropped Calls with 4.0.2

I upgraded to 4.0.2 a couple of days ago and since then I have dropped 7 calls. In the entire month and a half leading up to this I dropped 2 and 1 of those was my fault (covered up the lower left corner before I knew better). I spoke with my wife and a couple of friends and every one of them has also noticed this problem. Now I want to know if everyone else has noticed this or is it just a local thing (Jenison/Grand Rapids MI area).
As a side note my batter drains a heck of a lot faster since I upgraded as well.

I have had a similar issue with respect to dropped calls. I'll be talking and then I realize that it's eerily quiet on the other end and pretty shortly thereafter the call will drop. My iPhone4 is my primary phone for work so this has been a huge problem this week. Prior to the 4.0.2 upgrade, the phone work pretty much flawlessly with very few dropped calls here in NYC. This week I feel like throwing it out the window more often than not.
I went to my local AT&T store to see if that was an issue in my area or with my specific device and he told me that my best bet was to do a reset on the phone (hold down home + top button past the shut down screen until the phone restarts) and wait for 4.0.3 software, which he claimed would be out in the next 2 weeks. He said I'd likely have to do that hard reset at least once a day to keep the dropped calls to a minimum. I did the hard reset and had a couple of calls, which were mostly conducted without issue. Once I did get cut off but it's hard to say if that was my phone or the far end party because they were talking on a Bluetooth headset while driving.
Tomorrow once work starts I'm going to try out running on EDGE to see if that solves the issue as well.
Apple has been annoyingly tight-lipped about this one because it's pretty clearly a 4.0.2 issue. Oh well. Hopefully these temporary fixes can hold me over until 4.0.3 or whatever the next update happens to be. Hopefully this isn't treated like the alarm clock bug that's existed since 1.0 (i.e., ignored).

  • Horrible reception & dropped calls all of a sudden...

    Hi there,
I have had my Galaxy S4 since Oct 2012 and have never had any issues. All of a sudden, I now have no reception and I drop calls 10 times every 5 minutes. My phone NEVER had issues until about 2 weeks ago. Could it correspond with the recent software update? SO incredibly frustrated, I cant even use it to make calls and the MMS or group texts wont send. Is anyone else out there having this issue?!!
    Thanks
    Vanessa

Dropped calls are a serious no-no in our neck of the woods. And we want you to have service all of the time. May I ask if this is only indoors or if you're just referring to your home area? If it's only indoors, I do have to be honest in saying that no wireless provider can guarantee coverage indoors due to building material and other environmental factors. However, we do have indoor solutions to help http://bit.ly/AKkC

  • I'm dropping calls with perfect service..?

I have all my bars so I know I have perfect service but yet my calls are dropping 30 seconds in.  I can't even talk customer service because I can't stay connected that long.  Has anyone else heard of this? I have service so I am really confused.

I never had a trouble with calls ending or dropping until I upgraded the OS last week.  Now, I have actually watched my phone and during a call with great connection, the call just ends like I hit the end button.  Today alone I watche dmy phone drop three calls.  I don't think this is a SIM card issues but a software issue form the update.  The other problem is for no reason at all, my music will start playing.  I have the phone sitting on the table (no movement, nothing bumped it) and the music just starts playing.   I have even had calls drop and music starts playing.

  • Excessive dropped calls with full signal!!!

I have a 3GS and have updated to 3.1.2 I recall that one of the items addressed in this update was the dropped calls issue. Mine have been severely worse since the update. It is quite aggravating when the calls dropped are when I have full signal. I am not the only one I know with this particular issue. Is this being addressed?

The phone on the iphone is not the best. I live in Dallas and when the phone is on 3g it really is unusable. Just for grins I started a call log for a day. In my very unscientific experiment I dropped (or couldn't hear the person and had to call back) 76.6% of my calls when I 3g for the day. In my opinion, Apple or no Apple, this is unacceptable for any cell phone. I tried calling ATT to see if I could get some credit and they said no. I have taken the phone to the apple store and they said it was the network not the phone. I have restored the phone, reset the phone, updated the phone, and still nothing seems to work.
However, when the phone is in 2g it seems to work fine. Except the only problem with that is when you are searching the net, or checking email and someone calls you it won't ring. This a mild annoyance because at least when I do call or someone calls me I can talk to them and they can hear me.
The iphone is the worst cell phone on the market and best pocket computer you can buy.
    You decide.

  • Dropped calls with apple usb modem

The USB modem drops calls frequently. My ISP is earthlink which told me to reX duce the stated modem type to V50 or lower as a fix. But that has no effect.
I have bootcamp and windows Xp Pro Service pack 2 installed along with office.
But use the modem only with Mac OSX10.4.7. it is really frustrating.

    Hello,
I have had this problem. My 1st MacBook, wk 30, could not maintain an internet connection via external modem. A primary function. I was a novice with OS X. I rewired my household phone lines, verified my external phone line, dogged my ISP and spent hours with Apple Tech Support applying numerous, ineffectual, suggestions.
That machine was classified as DOA, eventually, after a number of panics, corruptions, and other bad behaviors related to power management. I lost the indexing for hundreds of emails saved on a crucial flash drive - a USB function.
My current machine, wk 33, demonstrated the same frustrating behaviors upon receipt. !!!
I am methodical. I calibrated the battery and performed system updates 1st thing with both machines. Then I became proficient with clean system 10.4.6 reinstall and worked my way backwards.
In my case, the 10.4.7. system upgrade caused the USB modem malfunction to recur. Subsequently, plugging the modem into the right had port enables it to function.
I am now unwilling to plug any other device into the left hand USB port and am limping along.
The last word I had from Tier 2 Tech Support was that there are no known issues.
    Cordially,
    RLC

  • Why does my iPhone 4S drop calls with good service

Why when I have 3 or more bars does my iPhone 3S drop calls?

Go to Settings > General > Accessability > Incoming Calls then set to default.

  • Dropped calls with full signal

When I am on my iPhone with a full or close to full signal, the sound cuts out for a while and then come backs a few times, and eventually drops the call. Its not every now and then...it's every call!
I have synced and restored it...and neither helped.

This does sound more like a faulty antenna than a SIM card problem to me. It may be that when the iPhone switches towers, as it does periodically, even when on full or near full signal strength, there is a time lag between disconnecting the previous tower and locking on to the new tower. This used to be a problem with old analogue mobiles that employed "hard" handoffs rather than "soft" handoffs, where the new tower is locked on to before disconnecting from the previous tower. In any event, with digital phones that still use hard handoffs, the technique has been refined to the point where the change is said to be imperceptible (does anyone know whether the iPhone employs hard or soft handoffs?).
Try replacing the handset and see if that improves matters for you.

  • Note 3 poor reception, no signal, dropped calls. other phones have no problem. have reset it, pulled battery, support has reset towers etc. still having issues.

note 3 poor reception, dropped calls, no signal, 3g not 4g. out of service area message at home this is crazy. other phones have no problem,

Wow! That's quite the large area, Nicki05. The service along Interstate 65 is pretty strong in general. Do you use any type of case on your phone? Has your phone been replaced through your warranty when you gave our Tech Support a call?

What if I have an emergency and need to call out or someone is trying to reach me, that's the whole point of my cell phone. Please help I'm very unhappy! I have a galaxy note 2Hi , Thank you for your post. We're happy to help. Were there any changes to your device when this started happening? Do you have your device in Airplane Mode? Please check to see if you're running the most current software version through Settings>About device>Software update>Check for updates. Are you hearing a recording when you try to make a call? Check in Settings>Call settings>Additional settings>Call barring>verfiy that All outgoing calls is unchecked. Also, make sure that your SIM card is inserted correctly and not damaged. We have some additional steps to try. First let's try a Soft Reset by removing your battery for 2-3 minutes. This will re-optimize your device. You may also try running your device in Safe Mode for 2-3 hours: http://bit.ly/1vkcs06 . This will only run stock applications to see if any third party apps are causing this. Let us know if you still need assistance! Thanks, Ema with Samsung Support

We have had Verizon Wireless service since 2007. We have 6 lines on our account. Unfortunately in 2012 when I (903.647.0073) upgraded from the iPhone4s to the iPhone 5 I started having reception problems. I started having dropped calls in my home. I had to go outside to get reception without dropped calls. I was told that because of metal in my home I would have to purchase a Network Extender for $250. And we HAVE not metal in our home. AND our other lines all work fine. I felt this was ridiculous. We already pay $350+/month for service and I should NOT have to purchase additional equipment for a service that I already pay for. The manager of our local store at the time gave us at no cost a Samsung Network Extender. It worked beautifully until about a month ago. I went to our local Verizon store and was told that I would have to purchase an extender. THIS is RIDICULOUS. We have been loyal customers for over 7 years and have been very satisfied with our service. Unless this issue can be resolved without purchasing an extender we will be switching our service as our lines come up for renewal. I regret this as we have been very happy with our service. But we should NOT have to purchase anything extra for one line that will not get good reception. Again, we pay $350+/ month for a service that does not work properly, simply RIDICULOUS! Currently the "sys" light flashes red (slow) and the GPS light remains red. Please help this very frustrated customer.

Regardless with what carrier your with you might have the same issue, My recommendation would be to get a router that will help you with viewing live traffic and keep a tally of your usage and any device connected to your internet connection.  You can go with the peplink balance 20 and be able to look at your traffic by the hour, daily, weekly, monthly or yearly.  Look for trends, see what computers or devices are doing what I attached a screen shot so you can see an example of mine.  You can purchase the router at 3gstore

I have been a customer with Verizon, since 1996. Recently, my husband has been added onto my account. We have both been experience drop calls. My husband contact Tech support for over 2 weeks. We were pretty upset to be paying a lot of money for a service that didn't work. Verizon advised us that would upgrade both of our phones (to see if that solved the problem). Ok...this is where Verizon has forgotten customer service rules. He order 2 phone...one for himself, one for me. 1st the wrong address on the package..Fedex couldn't deliver...2nd...missing condo number Fedex couldn't deliver again...(2nd call to Verizon)...3rd package was finally deliver with 1 phone...missing my phone. Contacted verizon rep...reorder my phone again..but sorry we cannot give the same price as quoted on 21April...even though...its our mistake...Ok...Ok..what a surprise..but we can do this...after 65 minutes...found a price that was a little bit more...fine...just order the phone....I reordered phone on 28April...on the April 29...no email..so I can Verizon for the 4times in a few days..sorry your order was delay due to our Fraud dept. OK...talked to fraud dept...ok..account is good..will release phone and ship. OK...Next day, no email with deliver confimation. Contact Verizon 5 times now...sorry..your order was cancelled...YES...cancelled again...2nd time now...but we can reorder...OK...sorry but we cannot honor that price that was quoted..really...agent messed up...again...but we can do this for you....I don't understand...your mistake...ALL the times...
Strange ...how my order gets cancelled twice by Verizon's mistake....yet you cannot honor prices that your agents quoted!!!
I didn't reorder the phone....I cannot in good faith same with a company that does not stand behind their own mistakes...and worse...they make the poor customer pay for it...
I will not be renewing my contact...its time to Cricket Wirless...which my sister-in-law loves for half the cost....

I hope that you aren't complaining about dropped calls INSIDE your condo because no amount of switching or upgrading devices will solve that.
VZW will not guarantee service inside of any structure. There are just too many factors. If the problem is inside then you might want to look at one of the following:
1.) Network Extender (may cause issues for others in a condo or apartment style setting)
2.) A Google Voice Number (Free with a Gmail email address), downloading Google Hangouts Dialer and forwarding your calls to the GVN so that you can make and receive calls over Wi-Fi.

  • Fed up with dropped calls

I pay almost $300 a month for cell phone service and have been a Verizon customer for years but am very fed up with the amount of dropped calls I am getting in my house. It makes me mad that I pay a lot of money for a service that doesn't work. I have complained to Verizon about this and basically my option is to spend a couple hundred dollars on an "extender". I feel if they can't provide decent signal for me then they should provide the extender for free if they want to keep me as a customer. I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem.

Do the dropped calls occur inside the house or outside? Cellular service isn't guaranteed inside of buildings due to construction and surrounding terrain can weaken the signal strength.

  • My IPhone 6 with AT&T is dropping 5-10 calls a day. Calling from same location as my 5S which never had dropped calls. Is this a hardware or software issue?

My IPhone 6 128GB with current software using AT&T is dropping 5-10 calls a day. I am calling from an office with good signal strength and in the same location as i did with my 5S which almost never had dropped calls. Is this a hardware or software issue? Is this a common issue with the new IPhones?
