Recommend a free online book

I read the tutorial on Java Security but I couldn't understand it. I think I have to know first what authentication, authorization, SSL (and other related matters) are and how they work. I already did a seach on google for this but there are many. Please recommend to me any free online book (for novice) where I can get a basic knowlege about security and how they works. Thanks for the help

Google for JCE and stuff from the IBM site. They have pretty good tutorials.

It depends on what books you're referring to. All books from the iTunes Store are downloaded to your iPad and except for any special features the book may contain that requires an Internet connection will be readable without such a connection.
If you're talking about books from some other source, we'd need to know the source before we could offer opinions.

Online Booking Schedule System

Hi guys,
I've been trying to figure out if there's a way in creating an online booking system for appointments. What I want is to set certain time slots of the week, for customers to book in a time for meeting. For Example, Monday 9am-10am , 11am - 12pm, 3pm - 4pm...etc and when a customer books the time 9am - 10am, then that time slot will not longer be available to book.
I've been reading a few discussion threads, but they don't seem to have been answered. Any help would be great. Thanks

I'm not sure about any free online Designer books, but there are some demo on OTN under both the Designer and SCM areas. In addition,. some of the older Designer books, still avaibale from Amazon and similar are still worth reading. Amazon has a pretty good second hand section, and I've always been pretty happy with the quality I get using that.
Books like
"The Oracle(R) Designer/2000 Handbook" by Carrie Anderson, David Wendelken
"Rapid Application Development with Oracle Designer/2000" by Chris Billings, Maria Billings, Julia Tower
"Oracle Designer Handbook" by Peter Koletzke (Dr.), Dr. Paul Dorsey
all come in at under $10 for a second hand copy.
Although these books were written some time ago, the methodology and techniques used are the same. Screen shots will be different, but what you do hasn't changed much.

All these books are great - and I've read them all and done the exercises. But I have to put in my 2 cents and recommend Larry Jordan's book and web site. The book is well written and understandable. His web site is full of great tips, and his free monthly e-mail newsletter is great. Now, he has a new newsletter called Edit Well published in conjunction with Peachpit Press.

I am looking to add an online booking system to one of my

Nope. All that a person with that problem should have to do is just update their iPod firmware to 1.1.1 with the newest updater, as that issue has been resolved in the latest firmware.

Hi. Your computer can be upgraded to either Leopard 10.5 or Snow Leopard 10.6. 10.6 will be much easier to find and will be less expensive. Leopard is not required prior to upgrading to Snow Leopard.

Recommend a Free Mail Server (Windows)

Hi,
Can somebody recommend a free mail server that I can use when running demo's / POC's / Training etc from my local machine for use with Delivers.
There seems to be a few out there - I'd be interested if anybody can advise there experience with any of them?

But what you want to do is not trivial to configure. By "Mail server" for Delivers people typically mean an SMTP server which is basically a relay server. But for the relay server to work it needs to be able to relay messages to the internet so when you send an email to an external domain it can be routed. It you don't want web access then your SMTP server won't be able to relay any messages so it will unusable for your demo. What you probably need is to configure a local domain in your SMTP server so that it relays messages to itself. Then you will need a POP3 server running to retrieve the message locally.

Hi,
Tuxedo is unable to make any HTTPS calls other than SOAP/HTTPS. So if you are using web services, then SALT can perform SOAP/HTTPS calls, although I don't believe we support the message signing feature of WS-Security (although you might want to check the SALT 10gR3 or later documentation.)
We are considering adding support for HTTP/HTTPS directly in Tuxedo, but that feature is not available in any current version of Tuxedo. What exactly are you trying to accomplish?
