Record to HDV device...

Can someone explain how to record to an HDV device? I cannot get my sequence to output and record via firewire to a Canon HV20 HDV camera. I have tried every possible preset in the audio/video settings under A/V devices then tried print to video numerous times with no avail.
I am lost, please help.

In Final Cut Pro's "Help" menu bar item you will find the .pdf file "HD and Broadcast Formats".
The procedure is describe in detail there.

How to download (contacts) records from a device?

I've noticed that iSync only syncs information of records that exist on both Mac and device (unless the option is chosen that the records on the device should be fully replaced by the Mac's contents) and updates missing records on the device. However, it does not update missing records on my Mac. So if John and Mary are on my Mac and John and Suzy are on the device, Mary will be added to the device, any info on John that has changed will be transferred to the Mac or the device according to which changes were latest, but Suzy will not be imported from the device to my Mac. But that's what I want it to do, too!
So basically - how can I import records from a device to my Address Book for pete's sake?! (I use a Motorola Pebl, but I'm aiming to discover the general trick, if it exists that is - which it should.)

Ok, the weirdest thing just happened...
I wanted to follow your suggestions, but backing up my phone's contacts is not possible (at least not without a lot of fuss googling feeble third-party apps, which I loathe). So I went on backing up and erasing my address book trying to d/l everything from my mobile.
And what happened? A few seconds after erasing every record, the records that are only on my mobile suddenly appeared in my address book! It's like it only now discovers there are some records imported. Very buggy, that feels. Well, I think I'll manage from here, but it would be nice if this sort of thing would not happen...

Record not on device

Hi All,
I have created a SyncBo having only getList, getDetails and Change BAPI. For the first time when we synchronize, the data is properly downloaded. But when we change some value and try to synchronize, it is not able to synchronize the data (Client data is changed successfully). While checking the sync log in checklist monitor, I get error Record not on device. If I try to synchronize again, it starts giving me error on the client Data is inconsistent. Please reset the client to ensure data consistency between middleware and client.

Hi,
if that error occures your MODIFY handler is wrong in the backend. You probably delete the item in the backend and write it again? Do a select for update instead. This is the most common erro rin that area.

SmartSync Error: Record not on device?

I'm developing a JSP MI Client SmartSync application. This application can add a record successfully. The source code is more or less following the <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/21eba3a7-0601-0010-b982-92f1fca3258a">SmartSync Inventory Example</a>. But when i tried to modify it, the record wasnt updated in the R3.
Below is the log in the merep_mon, there is an error in <b>I-Error</b>:

Hi Julius,
this error can have multiple reasons, so lets start simple. As you type the message, it says the item is not in the device. So, could you show the code for modify?
I guess there you do not really access the item or in the code itself is something wrong. Normally, if you modify, you first read the item, have to key of the item, then you modify it and save this entry afterwards. This is the best idea to avoid this error.
Well, if you create an item, then it is pretty much lke that. You do not want to create a new item, if the same item is alresdy on the device. This could cause issues in backend otherwise. So you first read the persistence and check if this particular item is alredy there. If this is the case - well, you have the key then, so see above.
In all cases youshould have the key of the item. If then the key is not in Sync state - because then modify is not allowed - you can modofy it. So the question is: have you perhaps written a test code, that takes the item you have created previously in your test code and where you believe it is on the client and try to modify it - but you have not really checked if the item is really still on the device?
Please give a little more input.

Problem in merep_mon: Record not on Device

Hi Gurus,
I am getting an error "Record not on Device" in merep_mon while monitoring S01 SyncBo. I have checked earlier posts and they doesnt seem to be providing a proper solution to this issue.
Someone Please explain me the cause of this error with say an example.
Also I found a SAP note - "Note 959732 - "Record Not on device" error message during reprocess" which discusses about this issue in detail. This note demands to set the 'REPROCESS_ON_NO_DATA' param value in MEREP_CONFIG table.

Ajith states that there can be two scenarios here..
1. The data is deleted (not soft delete or archieved), no updates are allowed & hence no chance to modify it.
2. Another scenario requires the data modified from the device user to be updated so that there should not be any data loss. (otherwise modification from the device user will be lost).
So now how to check whether mine is scenario 1 or 2 ?? Here by scenario 2 I understand that the record is either soft deleted or archived.. am I right ??
Also "If you enable REPROCESS_ON_NO_DATA parameter to 'X', The updates are allowed, ofcourse subject to the backend validation in modify bapi wrapper".
If this is true do we have to maintain proper validations in modify bapi wrapper for this syncbo ??
Is there any other solution to this issue other than applying this note ??
Also will changing the SyncBo type from Async to Sync help in this case as the major issue I feel is that the business user hasn't synchronized the client more than once (maybe) and hence all delta changes are not being reflected in client, and my syncbo being of Async type (by default) ??

Good to see that you had gone through earlier posts & SAP notes.
Record not on device errors occurs when a mobile user tries to modify a record which currently doesn't belongs to him anymore. Since you have an S01 syncBO, the object he is trying to modify now is deleted from MI. ( This doesn't mean the object is deleted from backend. Basically the Getlist bapi is now not returning this object)
This occurs only if the sync mode is "async". There is nothing to be worried about. This is just an expected behaviour. If you feel the update is important and needs to be sent to the backend, set the parameter REPROCESS_ON_NO_DATA to 'X' and reprocess the worklist.
When you reprocess, the Getdetail bapi will be called and the user changes are merged to the latest backend data. No conflict check done and hence there is a chance of backend changes getting overwritten. If the particular record is only updated by mobile user, then there is nothing to worry..

This is a weak spot in the native Cisco solution portfolio. I'll try to give one option but hopefully others will chime in with something more clever.
The MediaSense product can record trunk-side from Cisco CUBE which allows for device-agnostic recording; however, that only works if you're not concerned about internal calls to/from the analog phones (i.e. just to/from the PSTN). Getting the last part seems to require old fashioned SPAN recording to a capture server of a third party. This can get dicey though because most of the third-party recording vendors manually decipher the SCCP packets to figure out the calling/called party information. Be sure to ask them whether SCCP- or MGCP-controlled gateways are supported.

"SOME" devices can resolve the ALIAS (CNAME record) for a device, but not the REAL name (A record) - Why? How do I fix this?

I'm running the DNS server role on Windows Server 2012 R2 on a physical machine on my home network.
My AD is configured with a non-registered name - let's say it's "home.acme.ca" and the DNS server is configured to host that zone. I also configured a 2nd zone in the DNS server called "myinf.acme.ca". They both run on a physical
server with an IP of 192.168.1.10
The DHCP server on my Cable Modem is configured to hand out 192.168.1.10 as the only DNS server to every device on my network. On my servers (with static IP addresses), 192.168.1.10 is configured as the only DNS server available for them.
I took the DNS servers from my Cable Provider and configured a Forwarder on my server to send name resolution requests to them only if my DNS server can not answer the request - basically for any name resolution request that does not end with ".home.acme.ca"
or ".myinf.acme.ca"
The "home.acme.ca" zone is populated with 'A' records for all of the physical and virtual servers and PC's on my network.
The "myfin.acme.ca" zone is populated with 'CNAME' records that point directly to the 'A' record in "home.acme.ca" - for example, I have a serve named s000abc123ww.home.acme.ca with an 'A' record providing an IP address of 192.168.1.20 and
I created a 'CNAME' (alias) record named 'webserver.myinf.acme.ca' which points to the 'A' record 's000abc123ww.home.acme.ca'
2 of my 6 machines can resolve the alias but not the real name of the server!
.10 is the Domain Controller. All of the other machines (except .98) are members of the home.acme.ca domain.
I attempted to ping 's000abc123ww.home.acme.ca' AND 'webserver.myinf.acme.ca' on the following 6 computers. I used the fully qualified name in all cases.
4 of the below machines are able to resolve BOTH names. The other 2 can resolve the Alias but not the real name!
I don't understand how this is possible, but I would like to fix it...!!! Please help?
.10 - Server 2012 R2 (Physical) - Hosts Active Directory and DNS.
.20 - Server 2012 R2 (Virtual)   - Runs SQL Server
.21 - Server 2012 R2 (Virtual)   - Runs Apache
.22 - Server 2012 R2 (Virtual) -   Runs Apache. This is the device I am trying to ping (s000abc123ww)
.98 - Windows 7 (Physical)
.99 - Windows 7  (Virtual)
.21 (which is configured nearly identically to .20 and .22) can resolve and ping the Alias, but not the real name.
.98 can also resolve and ping the Alias, but not the real name.
The rest of the machines can resolve and ping both the alias and the real name.
All of the Virtual Machines are running under Hyper-V on the .10 physical server.
All the devices are on the same subnet.

CNAME resource records are recommended for use in the following scenarios:
• When a host that is specified in an A resource record in the
same zone needs to be renamed
• When a generic name for a well-known server, such as www, must resolve to a group of individual computers (each with individual A resource records) that provide the same
service, for example, a group of redundant Web servers
Therefore please try to create your CNNAM record in the same zone and try again.

Audio Stream Recorder - Error: Audio device is already being used by another prog

I realized that Audio Stream Recorder is does not "work" through server list feature. So I am simply trying to use the manual method of adding URL's to the interface. However regardless of the type of stream, shoutcast, windows media or real audio, I receive the error "audio device is already being used by another program". Does anyone know how to fix this? I have closed my audio application etc to no avail. <RANT WARNING> I was very excited about using this application when I read about it. However an application that provides none of the stated features is not an application, its false advertising, since it clearly states on the box, help files and website this products "features". Anyway, it'ss very disappointing. Also, does anyone know what the supported steaming formats are, the help file say the application requires RealONE and Windows Media Player but does not mention audio stream formats? Thanks you in advance for any help.

I have the same issue. I updated to the latest software, to no avail. My first suspicion is that some Microsoft patch caused this, but I cannot verify this.
Apparently no one at Creative is very interested in this issue.

Recording audio from device on server

I have some really nice audio recording gear hooked up to my computer, and I got a neat idea. I want to turn my PC into a web server and serve a flash application from it that allows a user to record audio from MY hardware (basically record the output of a mic hooked up to the "server") and then download the resulting audio file to his or her computer. Is this possible to do using a single flash application? I'm sure I could send commands to a C application on the "server" that would do the recording, but I'm wondering if there is a more simple solution. Also, monitoring the audio while it is being recorded would be nice.

The issue I see with iTalk and similar iPod apps is that the iPod has no line-level input, so you'd have to use one of the earbud/microphone combinations or an external microphone like this one which will be limited as to quality. There are some other options here. But if you want pro quality, and particularly want to tap straight off of a mixing console, a device like the Alesis is going to be necessary, though there may be something less expensive that I can't find.
If a microphone works for you, then iTalk might be fine. There's a freeware version of iTalk, iTalk Lite, you can try, to see if it will do the job. It doesn't have the advanced playback controls and has a limit of 2MB per recording, but it should allow you to test it out. Voxie is another possibility.

Report the latest event (record) for a device

I could have sworn I had this one working before but for the life of me I cant remember how I did it and I cant seem to figure it out anew.
I'm tracking events per device. A device may have any number of events in a given time period. I need to track the MOST RECENT event for a device per device. I do not want to have multiple records per device, only the record with the MOST RECENT timestamp.
I made the following two attempts but I'm still getting nowhere.

If you want the most recent event, change "FIRST" to "LAST"
KEEP (DENSE_RANK LAST ORDER BY dt)or sort in DESCending order:

Using Batch Record/Order Record for electronic Device History Record in PP

We are evaluating the use of PP or PP-PI for production planning at a medical device company and one of the primary considerations is the ability to create an electronic Device History Record. It looks like the Electronic Batch Record (COEBR) or Order Record (COPA) provides some of the capabilities required, but they do not appear to work with discrete PP. While I realize that the differences in functionality between PP and PP-PI are small (and getting smaller), I am surprised that SAP would require medical device companies to use PP-PI to handle this business requirement?
How have other companies dealt with the eDHR business requirement?

Used an old tape started recording in DV and then recorded in HDV

Hi,
In a moment of madness I used an old tape which I had previously used for DV. New recording about 8 minutes in is in HDV. The Apple won't recognise the HDV portion of the recording, ie., the bit I want. Anyone got any ideas please?

You don't need a card to down convert HDV. The cameras and decks will do it. You setup the camera or deck to down convert to DV, and capture using the easy setup for DV... Even if you've shot HDV... But that said, I think you might end up with better results if you capture HD, then down convert the final sequence to SD for recording back... Just seems to me the old rule is still true. Edit natively until the very end when you must either compress for a DVD or web stream, and in your case, for a tape delivery.

LMS 4.1 shows "No records" for all devices

Hello everyone,
One of our end clients noticed that there is a "No records" message when choosing to show syslog messages for all devices that are configured on his LMS.
Under "LMS - Admin > System > Server Monitoring > Processes" I can see that the "SyslogAnalyzer" and "SyslogCollector" are showing as "Running normally"

I would really appreciate your advise on this issue.

you are getting syslogs but they are getting filtered .
go to >>
Admin > Network > Notification and Action Settings > Syslog Message Filters
and change the filter settings . Try >> KEEP and Enabled combination. after changing settings check the syslogs collector status , Keep an Eye on the Forwarded column, you should see counts in it instead of zero .
you might need to play with filter settings to get this worked.
This is how Filters works:
Scenario 1:
All filters are disabled. Mode:Keep (Like in Our case with
Disabled the LINKUPDOWN and Mode is Keep .so all the messages for that
LINKUP DOWN will be only Forward)
All messages will be forwarded.
Scenario 2:
All filters are disabled. Mode:Drop
All messages will be filtered.
Scenario 3:
Atleast one filter is enabled. Mode:Keep
Only those syslog messages that satisfy the enabled filters will be
forwarded and all others will be filtered.
Scenario 4:
Atleast one filter is enabled. Mode:Drop
Only those syslog messages that satisfy the enabled filters will be filtered

Leopard has killed all recording via all devices

What is up with this. Not a single one of my external recording devices of any kind will record. I have a professional studio and nothing will record directly into Leopard.
Everything registers as receiving a signal but when you bring up the app to record it will not translate into a data stream for recording.
I even freaking tested Leopard on my Mac Book Pro before installing it on my Mac Pro and stupid me since all my apps opened and operated as normal and in the sound preferences all my inputs were registering an incoming signal I thought I was a go to upgrade.
WRONG!! WRONG!!
Someone please help. Right now I can only record a single track into my backup dat recorder and cannot record anything into Soundtrack Pro, Garageband, QuickTime, Audacity well anything.
Is there a work around or a command line fix? Anything. I just have to think something is hung up in core audio somewhere.
The funny thing is that right after the install everything worked fine. It only stopped sometime in the last 4-5 days.

Others of us have had issues with the X800 XT drivers, specifically not allowing fast switching when used at highest resolution with the Apple Cinema Display 30" model.
You can remedy this by either not doing fast switching (log out each time you want to switch users) or dropping resolution down 1 or more notches on the control panel.
There are bad drivers and ATI is putting the blame on Apple for this. No identified fix, though enough people have the problem that I'd think they would fix it sooner rather than later. THis is all for G5 machines.
All in all, Leopard seems to have MANY MANY more issues on PPC / G5 machines than with Intel-based machines.... I've gone back to 10.4.10 until they produce a workable, usable version of 10.5.

5.1.4 update breaks HDV capture? Unable to Initialize Capture Device

Problem:
Final Cut Pro cannot capture standard 1080i60 HDV footage from Sony FX1 camcorder. FCP reports "Unable to Initialize Capture Device" when the log and capture window is opened. However, the footage CAN be captured in iMovie (which is interesting, and unacceptable). When HDV>DV downconvert option on camcorder is activated, footage CAN be captured as anamorphic SD, so the camcorder and FW do work.
The problem is occuring on a rock-solid FCP system that I use on a regular basis (mainly for SD editing). It has been approx 2 weeks since I last attempted a HDV capture, the system has been working great with SD footage (still does).
Factors that have changed to my knowledge since HDV capture was last functioning properly:
*Added a new external FW drive into regular usage (a different brand than normally used, no issues with it so far).
*Updated FCP to 5.1.3, and then 5.1.4 when that fix came out. All SD captures and work have been fine so far.
Here's what's interesting...I had a copy of the FCP v5.0.4 .app that I had saved an archive of prior to the crossgrade update. Guess what? I can load it up, and it captures HDV without any problems! With that in mind, this looks like an FCP 5.1.4 issue. But I am at a loss on how to proceed further in troubleshooting. Many thanks in advance for any assistance.

*Per instructions at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301852 I removed the numbered Quicktime pckg Receipts and re-installed the latest version (7.13). Post-install/reboot, I repaired Disk Prefs and Verified the disk using Disk Util.
*Have also attempted installing QT 7.13 2 and 3 times in a row, also trying disk prefs repair BEFORE the post-install reboot.
Final Cut Pro Audio/Video Settings:

I think I figured out this vexing problem. I too was having the same issue. Check to see that your Quicktime is newer than 7.1.2. If it isn't you'll have to upgrade it. I only upgraded to 7.1.6 here because I was afraid of going to a really new version. http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/quicktime716formac.html. After I upgraded my quicktime, I ran software update and the Final Cut Pro 5.1.4 update appeared. I hoipe this helps.
