Recording problems with G570

Hi everyone
I bought a Lenovo G570 last week and am very pleased with it, but it has a problem when recording sound from the microphone-in socket. The problem is that sound recorded from the socket (the only external line input on the computer) records fine for the first few seconds, but after that (the time varies) it becomes distorted, like it has been very heavily compressed. I'm using the socket as a line-in to record from a radio's line-out socket.
The audio levels are fine according to the meters in the sound properties box and the recording software - I've tried using the latest versions of Total Recorder (and a variety of it's drivers) and Audacity with the same result.
Recording streaming radio stations is fine though.
Shame I can't attach a sound sample here.
I spent the first 2 days after buying the laptop downloading all the Windows 7 updates so as far as I know all's up to date.
Any ideas? I don't want to have to return it for a refund, but this is a real problem for me :-(

hey valveradio,
could you try uninstalling the current audio driver for your unit. Let windows install its own generic driver and then test it out using Sound Recorder (the built-in recording app from windows)

Recording problem with SoundBlaster X

Hello everyone,
I am running a X-FI sound card which is on my motherboard (MSI P6N Platinium).
I always had MSI boards with integrated soundblaster cards, and I used to plug my guitar directly in the microphone input and record.
Since I got this new board with the X-FI card, I have latency when I play my guitar. The sound has around half a second delay before it gets to the speakers.
I never had such a problem with my other motherboards/soundblasters.
I tried with the front panel mic, and also with the back panel one. The problem with the back panel is that when I plug my guitar in, it doesn't allow me to output to the normal 5. speakers, I have just the option to should Digital output...
Does anyone have an idea on something I should look for in the setup?
I am running a:
Intel Dual Core 6600
MSI P6N Platinium with integrated SoundBlaster X-FI Xtreme Audio
2GB Geil sync RAM
Nvidia 8800GTX 768Mb Video Ram

Recording Problems with GarageBand

My micophone makes bad noise only in GarageBand while recording. The record sounds bad, too. It crackles very loudly. That's a new situation for me. Until now everything works nice. There are no problems with other programms. I use a USB Audio Interface Line6 TonePort UX1 with an AKG C1000S microphone. Can you help me please. Thanks a lot. Sorry for my bad english.

I'm having a weird audio sync issue as well with GB '08 that I never had with previous versions.
Basically, audio tracks gradually drift forward in time as the song progresses. They drift almost a full bar ahead of where they should be after about a minute into the song.
When I watch the wave form in the editor as I'm recording everything looks correct, but after stopping and playing back a process runs and then the sync is completetly screwed up.
I've tested every hardware variable I can think of -- external FW drive vs. internal drive, external hardware (Digi 002r) vs. built-in audio. I even tried 16 bit vs. 24 bit recording and I continue to have the same problem everytime.
Again, I had no issues with the exact same hardware and previous versions of GB, which leads me to believe that the problem is software related. I'm wondering if all of these new features come at the expense of memory and/or resource issues.
Anyone else experience this or know what the fix is?

Problems with G570

Hey Lenovo Community,
i have quite a few problems with my G570.
1. Broken Hinge
The left hinge is broken and is now sticking out, which makes it harder to open and close the laptop.. I have googled that and found out that many people are experiencing the same problem. Even if i think that things like that shouldn't happen, this is not the main issue i have with the G570
2. Fan always at 100%
About 1 minute or 2 after i have powered on the laptop and it has booted, the fan is starting to accelerate and soon is running at full speed, even if the computer isn't even warm.. I have monitored the CPU temperature with several programs. 2 Minutes after booting, every program has told me that the temperature raises and raises and raises... so the fan tries to cool it down. At 120°C the temperature monitor stops raising....
Must be a BIOS problem i think.
After what i've read on the web, many people are experiencing this issue as well, a BIOS upgrade hasn't fixed said problem... this customer support is weak, seriously, lenovo...
3. No working Switchable Graphics driver for Windows 8
I have installed Windows 8 on the Laptop. The Intel Graphics driver is working fine, but not a single driver i have found for the AMD Switchable Graphics for Win8 has worked so far. After i install them, the desktop becomes black and the task bar is flashing on and off. The windows i have opened, task manager for instance, are getting and losing focus all the time, so i can't move anything. I had to use the System recovery in safe mode to get it working again. Here again, weak support..
All in all i am extremely disappointed about lenovo's product quality and customer support.
Well, i have not given up and still am looking for fixes for said problems, would be very nice if you could help me.

I have g570 with intel i3-2350m i just saw it do a backup and 65c which seems really hot to me - normal running is around 43c . Fan speed steps as does the cpu but seldom even hear the fan unless its hot.
If I saw the temperatures you mention, I think I would be changing my thermal paste to one of the premium brands. Yours probably has deteriated some with that much heat.
I might look at my fan blade too and wonder if some chinese factory worker put the blade on upside down. Think max thermal design / temperature rating on mine is 85c http://ark.intel.com/products/53438/Intel-Core-i3-2350M-Processor-(3M-Cache-2_30-GHz)

Recording problems with condenser mics

ok, i have a CAD GXL 2400 condenser large diaphragm mic and a fast track pro liking into my grageband. I am having major major volume problems, where no matter what combinations i use between the gain of the microphone and the levels of my instruments in grageband, theres always some problem with the volume. usually its that my voice becomes so backround to the instruments that its not driving the melody that it should, and also, with me making the gain higher to try to get more volume, the mic will pick up too much of my voice and it will just sound more like static. if i finally get my voice to be heard how i would want it to be, all my instruments are turned down so low (normally lower than -15) that the song really has no power behind it. what should i do?

no normally the clip light doesnt come on, ive talked with people from multiple tech supports, such as sweetwater, and their advice was to sing into the mic and get the gain to where the clip was coming on with my voice, then turn the gain just barely below that to get the best sound. it did help, but not enough to fix my problem.

Mac newbie! Recording problems with Audition 2.0 in WMware Fusion 3.0

Having been an Audition/Cool Edit fan for a decade, when I recently bought my first Mac (MacBook Pro) I bought and installed WMware Fusion 3.0 for the sole purpose of running Audition on my Mac (OS 10.6.2).
Everything installed beautifully and playback, CD extraction and the like all were working fine. There was a slight bit of latency, but I could deal with it. When it came time to record something, though, it was awful. The whole Auditon program slowed down and recording was spotty, choppy and basically unintelliglble.
I thought I hadn't allocated enough memory on my virtual machine (the default was 512Mb) so I increased it to 2GB. That didn't work.
Has anyone else experienced this and, if so, can you give me a tip or two on how to get the recording mechanism to work properly?

VMWare Fusion and Parallels are just not reliable enough for real-time recording. I highly recommend setting up a bootcamp partition and using Audition under a native Windows XP environment for recording. The virtualization systems work fine for editing, mixing, etc but are just not reliable or robust enough for real-time work, in my opinion.
I supplied a short blog post to Adobe's Inside Sound blog last year about this. It's still up at http://blogs.adobe.com/insidesound/2008/02/audition_3_on_a_mac_1.html and has generated some great comments from users and even some of the folks over at VMWare.

Recording Problem With Muvo N

I've had my N200 about 2 months. Everything works great except when I try to record FM the player shuts off; it only started doing this recently. Is there any way to fix the problem?

Have you tried to upgrade/reload the firmware?

Wlan problem with G570

hello i'ev installed windows xp sp2 and when i try to connect to the internet through an AP protected whith wpa-psk ,it does not connect but when i remove the protection it connects . what is the problem and how i can solve it . thanks .

Kindly update the wireless lan driver and check if the issue gets resolved.
If the issue persist then you need to reset the wireless router and then the issue will resolve.

Recording problem with RD-XV48DTKB

I recently bought the above HDD/DVD/VCR device. It works pretty well but twice now it has failed to record a program to hard disk. It didn't give an error, it just recorded 2 hours of nothing. You can play back these 2 hours of black. In each case it was ITV I was recording on a Sunday evening. I set it using the 'guide' button and selecting the program. I watched the power light come on and it went off at the appropriate time.
I can't see anything in the owner's manual about how this can happen. I am pretty sure I have recorded ITV successfully before but now I'm beginning to have my doubts.
Any ideas?

Recording problems with Audigy

In comparison with an integrated card i had (Soundmax) and one i purchased (Sb 6) but change it because of the lack of soundfont technology, the Audigy SE records (In this case, guitars through a mic) with a better quality, but the volume of the recordings are almost like i havent record anything at all, having the "Mic boost" option selected and the volume of recording all the way up. I have to crank the amp more than i usually do when recording to be able to hear anything, but it also sounds some "ssssss" in the recording.
The recorder that came with the Audigy have an option to clean the audio from this "SSSS" but when properly cleaned it sounds very rare and unnatural, and since i use cakewalk for multitrack recording it is useless for me.

This is probably the same driver bug I have.
Windows 7 64-Bit with 8 GB of ram.
I have contacted support about it.
So far I have just recieved the typical form letters (no support at all) from them.
Turn on listening and pay with the sampling rate for a bit.
Eventually you will get it clear by switch from on rate to another.
Annoying as all get out, but that is about all you can do until there is a driver fix.

Recording problem with new interface

ok so i just bought a motu 828 mk2 , i had a tascam fw 1082 working with logic before i sold it.
i have the motu hooked up and everyting plays back perfect, but i went to record on an audio while playing back a midi track,and it does record the sound but for some reason there is a ton static also on the audio track, to the point where you can barely hear the synth line.
any ideas? please help

Monitoring and recording problem with midi vs audio firewire

I'm trying to record my Roland synth via Inspire firewire box into Logic express. I'm able to record and monitor thru the output of the inspire box. However If I'm using firewire, I can't hear other midi file tracks and vice versa. I keep switching input and output sources in the control settings but it seems like I either have to use all midi tracks or all audio tracks. Same situation with playback. I know this is wrong but am totally stumped. Any advice would by awesome.

Dave, You might need an external DAW to do this, I got it working and I'm an idiot. There is only one I/O for logic and if you use it for the audio recording it's not available for the sounds you want to have coming out of logic. I have Roland Edirol UA-25USB2 and it works like a charm, If I understand what I did correctly, the sound and MIDI messages are routed via an Aggregate Device in the audio/MIDI set-up [you configure the device in the audio half] to the Edirol, and there are many extra functions to choose from-I avoid the 3.5mm audio out headphone plug by routing audio out through the DAW Edirol-much better sound quality than the mini stereo jack.

Track audio record , problem with inline input

I am using logic pro 8
I cannot record my arrangement, with the input line.
Garage band does the same thing.
My sound in the preference is set for input line (not microphone input).
I can only record with the incorporated microphone.
any ideas ?

You wouldn't say that noeqplease if you had to deal with the French manual like our friend jules here (and myself for that matter) The French manual is a total joke. It was obviously translated by someone who hasn't the first notion of anything vaguely musical or DAW or sequencer or mixing, or of musical equipment of any kind ! Subdomain & A Record - Problem with www

After chatting with support and not getting a workaround for this, they asked me to post in the forum. So here I am and am in much need for a good solution. I'm hoping there is an easy fix I'm just not aware of.
BC recently changed the A Record capabilities, so that I can no longer add a record such as "www.joelskotak.noondaycollection.com" as a subdomain (noondaycollection.com is the site url). I am able to add "joelskotak.noondaycollection.com" as before, but must have a "www" record in the system so a user won't hit a browser error when typing in the url with a www. I've tried a few things already:
1) I get an error when trying to forward a domain such as "www.joelskotak.noondaycollection.com" to "joelskotak.noondaycollection.com".
2) I can't add a subdomain, period, using the "add a domain" option. Trying to add "www.joelskotak.noondaycollection.com" or "joelskotak.noondaycollection.com" produces an error.
3) Like I said, I can't add a hostname with "www" anymore.
Creating subdomains is crucial to the business, and I hope someone out there can tell me how to handle this in BC.
