Recording troubleshooting

I recently did a 4-track recording of the orchestra I play in. Four Samson C02 condenser microphones running to a MOTU 8pre, recording to a MBP 2.33GHz / 3GB / 250GB. I had two distinct problems with this session, initial setup had a buzz in my left front mic (which happened to be on a 15' pole). This was fixed by changing mic paring - though I'm unsure really why. The second issue was after the concert, as I started mastering. I noticed random pop's during the recording. I never peaked during the performance. I've been able to get rid of about 70% of them with STP's clicks and pops. I'm a little concerned that something in my setup is a bit dodgy. This concert had a influx of new equipment, including the 8pre (it replaced a Mbox), 2 additional C02 mics and associated cabling.
So, from the pro's out there, where are my failure points?

I'll be addressing the red topic.
Clicks and pops have few sources:
1. If the pops are in the audio file.
2. If the pops are NOT in the audio file.
Since yours seem to be in the 1. category, this narrows it down to :
1.A - The pops were created by bad clocking on the AD converter. Unlikely in your case.
1.B - The pops were created by the in-house power outlets having bad power. A voltage regulator / conditioner will address this issue.
1.C - The pops were created by a bad mic cable / bad mic connection / bad microphone. In you case you re-connected the offending mic, so I suspect this might have been the case.
IF the pops occur across ALL the recorded tracks, then the case will be 1A or 1B. In these two cases, regulating your power and / or servicing your AD converter is the thing to do.
IF the pops occur ONLY on one track, then it is most probably number 1C. In this case, finding out if the microphone is bad, or a mic cable is bad, and replacing them immediately.

    4. Now check if Microphone is listed there and right click on it and choose enable.
    5. Highlight that Microphone  and click on "Set as Default"

    To update your Audio driver:  
    1.   Click Start, and then click Control Panel
    2.   Click System and Maintenance
    3.   Underneath Device Manager, click View hardware and devices
    If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue
    4.   Expand Sound, video and game controllers
    5.   Right-click your Audio controller, and click Properties
    6.   Select the Driver tab
    7.   Click the Update Driver button.
    8.   Select Search automatically for updated driver software

  • Outgoing mail off-line

    My mail has been working perfectly until this morning when my email would not send and I kept getting a message requesting my password.
    This message kept reappearing. My mail sat in outbox and would not send. On checking mail preferences I noticed it was set to offline, and would not re-set.
    I had to access gmail directly, and it functioned perfectly - this is clearly a Mavericks issue. Irritatingly I had to copy and paste each email from the Mac outbox into a new mail for my gmail account. This is a real time waster.
    Has anyone got a solution? I am sure it must be something simple. I see a number of people had the dame issue several months ago, but no resolution recorded.

    Is this problem still occurring in your environment?  What service pack do you have applied to Fast Search for SharePoint 2010?  I have seen prior that similar
    issues can occur with certain excel spreadsheets due to corruption.  Performing iterative testing of removing one page from the document at a time including the default page, and re-feeding the document, can narrow down the problem content to the specific
    page.  Did you happen to try that step?  Other items I might suggest to be verified on all Fast servers include making sure that we have the correct antivirus exceptions configured (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff381239.aspx,)and
    TCP & IP Task offloading (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2570111)
    disabled including at the NIC adapter and Teaming configuration (if you are teaming NICs.)   Let us know your findings.

  • Troubleshoot: How to process messages in "Recorded for Outbound processing"

    Dear Experts,
    I have File >XI(3.0)>IDoc scenario with 10-25 interfaces. Per interface an average of 200 msges.
    Now we have an issue. from past 6 days all the messages for one of the interfaces are in status: "Recorded for Outbound processing"(with that single small black right arrow) in SXMB_MONI(around 1760 till now). Other than this few 100 messages for couple other interfaces are also in same status. There are other message interfaces using the same Idoc type; but they dont have this problem.
    I have checked the queues: SMQ1/Q2. There are no errors. The other threads mention about some reports; but all are for error messages. So that also did not help!
    On the first day someone had deleted the error queue entry. They had first checked the message in the queues but  that was not showing any status. (This is very strange... but for some messages , the left most status column is not showing any status at all.. but while clicking on the end time column; I am getting the pop up which says succesfully processed). But this is not our problem right now.
    Please help me process the messages in the "Recorded for Outbound processing" status.. some how!!!

    P.N: Runtime workbench here is not configured properly. No CC monitoring tab; message monitoring shows only adapter messages etc.... So cannot check anything here

    The RFC destination is fine.
    @Abhishek The Idoc has not reached SAP. The xml messages in XI are in "Recorded for outbound processing" which is kinda like Scheduled, i think. Anyway I checked the R/3 cant find the messages or errors.

    I'm having a problem recording audio in Premiere CS6, it appears that the input isn't getting to Premiere at all. It works fine in Audition and I have recorded there and imported to Premiere, but...I have checked the preferences and the correct mike is selected, I've picked other inputs with the same results. I'm using a USB (Logitech) microphone, my other input is my webcam.

  • Record and Playback troubleshoot

    I am new to recording script via SAP GUI but I know there is a way that after you have recorded a script and saved it, you can playback and select the play button and choose a script from a pop history directly under the play button; you dont have to select play and chose a script from an open folder window... anyone know how to enable this feature? I've tried everything...

    I know that is a way you can initiate the script to run, but what I was referring to is once I've created a script and want to play it, I would select the play button and a pop-up window opens to browse for the script in my folders. I know there is a way that instead of having to search for them, I should be able to click on the play button and a drop-down will come up beneath the play button and I can quickly select a commonly used script instead of having to go out and search for it via the open folder window... does this make sense?

  • I use a browser application called Changepoint...a project time recording tool. It does not navigate to the project folders or interact at all using Firefox, only IE. What do I need to ask the tech team to troubleshoot why it doesn't work with Firefox?

    See question. I'm assuming that I or them are missing something with the handshake once the basic appl is launched. The Changepoint appl does launch in the browser...it just doesn't function when you get into it, e.g. clicking on a hyperlink on the screen doesn't launch a sub-appl/module to show project folders. It doesn't crash the browser or window, it just doesn't do anything.

    Check with Changepoint support and ask if that application is made to be compatible with Firefox, and which versions of Firefox it has been tested with.

  • Troubleshooting InTune, SCCM, and Windows 8.1 Phones

    I've setup various components but when I use my Windows 8.1 Samsung phone "Workplace Account" feature, the phone gets stuck on "We're looking for your settings...", it will stay on this for 15+mins if I let it.
    What can I do for further troubleshooting?
    Here are my components used:
    InTune Trail Subscription
    Verified to use my public domain via the custom TXT DNS record
    UPN settings configured (UPN = public email format = [email protected])
    Single Sign On into InTune admin console and user portal configured via ADFS
    Logon tests from a PC are successful internally and externally into the admin console and user portal
    Used DirSync on Win2012r2 to sync my AD to the Azure cloud - works fine
    ADFS servers (and DirSync) on 2012r2
    ADFS Web Application Servers on 2012r2
    System Center Configuration Manager has Intune Subscription configured
    System Center Configuration Manager ha the trail certificate, InTunes role installed, and distro.point set to manage.microsoft.com, and trail apps that came with trail certificate
    ...note sure if I've forgotten anything - definitely not the easiest thing to get working!!
    I've also done a packet capture from the firewall - they (firewall company) have ruled out their device as the problem.

    The Microsoft Intune team has confirmed this was an issue.  The temp solution was to disable a checkbox in my ADFS server...  In a few weeks I will call back on my ticket and see if there is a better solution, otherwise this is the only thing I
    could do.
    ADFS Server > ADFS Console > Authentication Policies
    Global Settings > Edit
    Primary Tab > Uncheck "Enable Device Authentication"
    Microsoft Tech Support Comment:
    I am confirming the only known solution, which is a short term workaround being suggested by the PG/engineering, which is to Disable device auth properties check box on ADFS side.
    The long term solution is already well underway and in testing by the Product team and should be released in the upcoming weeks. 
    Public facing documentation for this issue should be available soon but we do not have a specific date.

  • I am unable to use my bluetooth headset to record voice memos, is there a trick to this?

    I have a Plantronics Voyager Pro+ Bluetooth headset, I am unable to use it to record voice memos on my Iphone 4, using IOS 6.1.3.  The memos record fine when using the built-in mike but not the Bluetooth headset.  Does anyone have any insight or comments that might help resolve this situation?

    The steps below will help you in resolving this issue of your iPhone giving you a No SIM alert.
    Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS.
    Toggle Airplane mode On and Off.
    Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
    Check for a carrier settings update. Tap Settings > General > About. If an update is available, a prompt will appear.
    Remove the SIM Card and verify that it is a valid, carrier-manufactured SIM. Also verify that it is not damaged, worn, or modified. Then reinsert it.
    Restore the iPhone.
    If you still are unable to resolve this issue, contact Apple support for further assistance.

    Running 9.2.0.5.0, and using latest 9.2 JDBC 1.4_g drivers in thin mode.
    Execute the following query from SQL*Plus and it returns one row, from JDBC using a PreparedStatement, I get no results. Here's the query, table def, record, etc.:

    I have verified the parameters and such, and if I run as a Statement instead of a PreparedStatement, the query works fine. After some more troubleshooting, I narrowed the problem down, but not sure of the fix.
    If I eliminate teh extra parameters and simplify things to:
    SELECT ID_WEB_FRM FROM WEB_FRM WHERE ID_WEB_SIT = 'test' AND CDE_LVL_2_FUNC = 'u2T' AND NUM_WEB_FUNC_PG = 1 AND NUM_WEB_PG_ID = 0
    The code works. But if I add the additional WHERE clause of CDE_LVL_1_FUNC = ' ' (has single space), it returns no data (record in the DB has single space in this new column. Query that does not work:
    SELECT ID_WEB_FRM FROM WEB_FRM WHERE ID_WEB_SIT = 'test' AND CDE_LVL_1_FUNC = ' ' AND CDE_LVL_2_FUNC = 'u2T' AND NUM_WEB_FUNC_PG = 1 AND NUM_WEB_PG_ID = 0
    It appears the JDBC Driver is trimming the parameter when it is a space when set through a PreparedStatement.setString(2," ")

    Troubleshoot Extensions and Add-Ons by launching Firefox in Safe Mode
    1. Exit Firefox
    2. Click Start > Run
    3. Type the following then press [Enter]:
         firefox.exe -p
    4. Click Continue in Safe Mode
    5. Attempt to reproduce the problem
    If the problem does not occur in safe mode, please try to isolate it down to an individual plug-in.
    1. Exit Firefox
    2. Re-launch Firefox
    3. Click Firefox > Add-Ons > Extensions
    4. Click Disable on all of your extensions
    5. Attempt to reproduce the problem, while enabling each extension until you can reproduce the issue

    Some users have indicated that random crashing stops when clearing their Firefox profile.  This step will allow you to temporarily test with a clean set of Firefox preferences, without losing your preferences.
    Exit Firefox

    In the Enter new profile name dialog, type "Test"
    Click Finish
    Select Test and click Start Firefox
    Use Firefox as normal.  If the problem goes away, clearing your Firefox preferences, or migrating the important settings (bookmarks, etc) to a clean Profile may be a good permanent solution.
    If the problem persists, switch back to your old profile by doing the following:
    Exit Firefox
    Click Start > Run
    Type the following then press [enter]:firefox.exe –p
    Choose your old account (typically "default")
    Click Start Firefox
    Solution: Try a clean Windows profile (You must be an Administrator to complete this step.  If your user account is not an admin type, skip to the next section for instructions on reporting a bug.)  Creating a new Windows user will rule out any account-specific preferences that may be enabled on your system.

    Use Flash Player normally.  If the problem goes away, this indicates a compatibility problem, either with software you have installed or with preferences set on your account.

    Please file bugs at bugbase.adobe.com.
    Choose "Adobe Flash Player" as the product
    Choose "Browser Integration" as the product area
    Please provide as much information as possible with what you were doing before the crash and an exact URL where the crash occurred.
    If available, please attach your Firefox crash logs to the bug using the Attachments field.
    Show hidden files and folders. For more details, see the instructions for the operating system that you use: Vista and Windows 7.
    Crash logs are located at C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\
    Logs will be located in either the pending or submitted folder, depending on whether or not you submitted the crash report to Mozilla.
    Last resort
    Finally, if these problems are blocking you from using Flash Player we recommend, as a last resort, you either revert back to Flash Player 11.2 or temporarily disable Protected Mode.  We strongly recommend that Protected Mode is manually enabled once this issue is resolved.
    To revert to a previous version of Flash Player, please see this FAQ: How do I revert to a previous version of Flash Player?
    To disable Protected Mode, add the following line to your mms.cfg file located in:
    Windows 32bit: C:\windows\system32\macromed\flash
    Windows 64bit: C:\windows\syswow64\macromed\flash
    ProtectedMode=0
    If the mms.cfg file does not exist, create one using any standard text editor (e.g.. notepad)
    Depending on your operating system, you might need to first save the mms.cfg file to a writable location (such as your documents or desktop folder) and then copy the file into the destination folder using Windows Explorer.
    To re-enable Protected Mode, simply remove the line from the mms.cfg file.
