Recover database after lossing system tablespace without backup

Hi
My database fail because of hardware failure and then system tablespace corrupted. other tablespaces and control files are OK. Can I recover my database without backup of system tablespace?

hi,
if you have not taken the physical backup (inconsistent or consistent) then you can not recocver it. you need to have some backup up strategy with RMAN or Manual. Do you have hardware (Disk) Mirroring to cover the media failure??
Atleast if you have the logical backups?? then create the database and import it..
Thanks

  • How to recover saved sessions after a system recovery with backup [DUPE: /questions/770295]

    Computer kept crashing and wasn't able to log on, so I had to do a system recovery with backup. Was wondering if there was anyway to get back my saved sessions that I kept.

    Probably not. A System Restore can replace the current file sessionstore.js with an older version and if that happens then you lose that session unless you have made a backup of sessionstore.js before doing the system restore.

  • Unable to recover database after rman recovery and database open resetlogs

    I am running Oracle 10.2.0.5 on OpenSUSE 9. I have been trying to upgrade the database to 11g, through dbua. I was getting stuck at one point during the Oracle Server install and the upgrade failed and I was forced to restore the database to an earlier backup.
    Below is the current place that I am stuck. As you can see I opened the database multiple times and reset the logs. Now I am afraid that my controlfile and redo log backups are out of sync and i can't get them back on track. Before when I actually got the database recovered RMAN would immediately throw:
    RMAN-06900: WARNING: unable to generate V$RMAN_STATUS or V$RMAN_OUTPUT row
    RMAN-06901: WARNING: disabling update of the V$RMAN_STATUS and V$RMAN_OUTPUT rows
    OPA-00600: ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: ...
    The database would open with ALTER DATABASE RESETLOGS but any query on non-system tables would fail and throw:
    ORA-04045: errors during recompilation/revalidation of LCRS_DEV1.FACILITY_REF
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [17069], [0x1158ED180], [], [], [],
    I hope I have not dug myself into too deep of a hole here.

    Thanks for the reply Hemant. I have reset the database for the controlfile that I am using as backup and now I am not able to recover until the correct SCN. I am thinking that my recovery catalog is bad. If I mount with the current controlfile I have this list of incarnations:

  • Recover Database after opening in Resetlog

    Hi All,
    Is it possible to recover datbase after opening it in resetlog.
    Scenoria:
    Due to some serious update exceuted on a particular table , I want to extract one table from previous day morning backup and apply archive still 4PM .
    But after recovering the datbase still 2PM ..I opened the database with resretlog .
    Now how can I apply archive generated after 2 clock.
    Do I need to restore the database again?
    Thanks

    Do I need to restore the database again?Yes. You have to restore the database and proceed until applying archive logs upto 4pm.
    RESETLOGS - Updates all current datafiles and online redo logs and all subsequent archived redo logs with a new RESETLOGS SCN and time stamp.Archives the current online redo logs (or up to the last redo record before redo corruption if corruption is found), clears the contents of the online redo logs, and resets the online redo logs to log sequence 1.

    now i don't have any archive file. is there any chance to recover the database ?If no archive log files are available you can't recover the datafile.You need to have all the archives from the time of offline backup was taken till the system datafile is lost.

  • How do I recover notes after a "Restore iPhone" without using a backup?

    I have a bunch of notes on my iPhone in the "on My iPhone" account.  To fix the vanishing music problem on my iPhone, the Apple store had me hard restore my iPhone and told me not to restore from backup.  I can find how to replace my music, calendars, etc from iTunes, but I can't figure out how to restore my "notes".  Since I've been storing a lot of stuff in notes, I need to get the notes back.  There is no obvious place in iTunes.  There are no notes in my my "notes" app in OS 10.9.

    If they were in the "On my iPhone" account, they are gone now. You would have had to sync them to the Notes app on your Mac.
    Did you ever do a backup? If so, there are some programs that claim they can extract data from backups, so trying one of those may be worth doing.

  • After restoring System from TM backup is too big for drive

    I had to restore my system from TM recently. When I plugged in the TM drive after restoring it tells me that there's not enough space on the drive to perform the backup.
    Am I just going to have to chuck away the original backups and start a new one, or is there some way I can get the original backup to work again?

    Hi, and welcome to the forums.
    Yes, that's normal behavior, unfortunately. When you erase a disk (done automatically as part of a restore), everything you put back on it is treated as new: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1338
    You may need a larger drive for your backups. It varies greatly, of course, depending on how you use your Mac, but a "rule of thumb" is that TM needs 2-3 times the space of the data it's backing-up to be able to keep a reasonable "depth" of backups for you.

  • "Table VSEOPARENT is not in the database" after SolMan system copy to x64

    Hi SDNners,
    We've just completed a system copy of our SolMan 3.1 system onto a new
    (Xeon x64 based) server. This system copy is part of the process of
    moving SolMan 3.1 from an old server onto 64bit hardware and then
    upgrading it to SolMan v4 and Oracle 10G.
    Although the system appears to start properly in the MMC, we are unable
    to log into the system through SAPGUI - we get a SYNTAX_ERROR window
    instead of a logon screen.
    I've checked the SysLog from within the MMC and noticed a number of
    errors stating:
    Database: Table VSEOPARENT is not in the database
    Database: Table VSEOIFIMPL is not in the database
    Database: Table VSEOIFCOMP is not in the database
    I tried running SQL command 'select * from "SAPSOL"."VSEOPARENT"; and
    it confirmed that the table didn't exist. I then ran the same command
    on the source SolMan system and it showed that VSEOPARENT DID exist. I
    don't understand how these VSEO* tables could have gone missing between
    the source and target systems.
    I've searched OSS for VSEO* and cannot find anything. Please help!
    Thanks,
    Arwel.

    We have 640 kernel, ECC 5.0 and BASIS patch 23.
    For me the problem was with SAPVIEW table wasnt imported from source to target becuase SAPVIEW.STR file was 0 byte. STR files gets created in export preparation phase.
    It did happen because on source side master DVD, there was no option for export preparation. I had only option for tablesplit and export db.
    I did use ECC 5.0 SR2 Master DVD which had option for export preparation phase and that created SAPVIEW.STR file.
    Using migration monitor I did re-export and re-import and this time all views are imported in target.
    Regards,
    Mamadi.

  • Backup everything except the system tablespace

    Is there a way to backup everything except the system tablespace without having to specify every individual tablespace?
    version is 10.1.0.5 on HP-UX itanium.
    The reason for this is the database was upgraded from 7.3.4->8i->10.1.0.5 and we are now migrating to using RMAN instead of user managed backups however we have encountered a bug when backing up index blocks in the system tablesapce this only impacts compressed backupsets so If I can exlude the system tablespace I can run two backups one uncompressed that captures the system tablespace then another that captures everything else. I'd really like to avoid specifying the tablespaces in a script as it then introduces the possibility that a new tablespace is added and isn't included in the backups.

    Unfortunatly this database is used by a third party application and the aplpication vendor only supports 10.1.0.5 at the moment, plans are to upgrade next year and tidy up the number of tablespaces at the same time.
    looks like I'll have to backup the system tablespace uncompressed and then all the other tablespaces as a compressed backupset and setup an alert on files not backed up.

  • Block Corruption in SYSTEM Tablespace

    Hi,
    well it´s just a test database without a backup, but i would like to repair it anyway :-)
    Here are the facts:
    Errors in file c:\oracle\admin\o10g\bdump\o10g_smon_1404.trc:
    ORA-01578: ORACLE data block corrupted (file # 1, block # 50187)
    ORA-01110: data file 1: 'C:\ORACLE\ORADATA\O10G\SYSTEM01.DBF'
    1. I found the object: It´s a Cluster named SYS.C_TOID_VERSION#
    containing a lot of table stuff (type$,parameter$, ...)
    i tried to repair it with dbms_repair:
    BEGIN SYS.DBMS_REPAIR.SKIP_CORRUPT_BLOCKS (
    SCHEMA_NAME => 'SYS',
    OBJECT_NAME => 'C_TOID_VERSION#',
    OBJECT_TYPE => dbms_repair.cluster_object,
    FLAGS => dbms_repair.skip_flag);
    END;
    No error, but the same block corruption message in the alert.log 1 minute later.
    i can select the tables in the cluster.
    Has anyboby another trick to repair a cluster?
    Thanks
    Marco

    Hi,
    if you have rman backup then this problem become resolved by only one command.
    BLOCKRECOVER DATAFILE 1 BLOCK 3 DATAFILE 50187;
    otherwise restore system tablespace from backup and recover it.
    and one more thing
    **Don't fix the block in system tablespace it may create problem if that block contain some useful information of oracle(internal information).

  • System tablespace gets corrupted.

    Hi,
    My system tablespace gets corrupted. My Database is not running in archivelog mode and also i dont have any backup. Is there is any solution to recover corrupted blocks in system tablespace;

    had the same few weeks ago at one of our customers
    SYSTEM tablespace (SYSTEM01.DBF) got corrupted due to power outage/disk error
    no archiving, no backup (database for testing purposes, which they update periodically with data from the production database)
    tried recovery (as Rafi suggested above), but it didnt work, it said SYSTEM01.DBF needs further recovery, thus open resetlogs wont work
    and it was right, resetlogs didnt work :)
    so the options:
    1. recovery/restore - not possible
    2. Oracle has a private tool called Oracle Data Unloader that can get the data from the datafiles - just a test database, doesnt worth the work/time/money
    3. open the database with the allowresetlogs_corruption=TRUE hidden parameter, and try a full export
    database could be opened with resetlogs by using this parameter
    the reward for this action: several ORA-600s per second, instance crashed in 30-60 seconds
    at the end we dropped the database and duplicated the production one

  • How to create a system tablespace as  locally manged in 8.1.7

    After a good time looking for it I still haven't found an example of how to create a database with the system tablespace as locally managed in release 8.1.7
    I'm trying this, that isn't OK at all:
    create database CSR
    character set "WE8ISO8859P15"
    datafile '/home/oracle/create/CSR/system/sysCSR.dbf' size 75M

  • Restore without previous system tablespace backups

    Hi,
    Can I restore a user tablespace to a previous point in time without having backups of the SYSTEM and UNDO tablespaces as of that time? Everything else in the database has been periodically backed up (archived logs, control files). System and undo backups are available, but after the data loss occurred.
    Attempts to create a local DUPLICATE instance fail if I specify such previous point in time. Is there any other way to get that data out of RMAN backupsets?
    Environment:
    Oracle 9i for Linux (9.2.0.4)
    Thanks in advance.
    Ivan

    Put the database into 'MOUNT' mode and then issue the restore and recover commands.
    The database does not read the file headers until an alter database open command is issued.
