Reducing , Jaggy , Laggy and Flicking on animations

Hello , today i tried to rotate some node 3d on javafx with code below , but the problem is my animation is laggy and jaggy , is there any tricks that reduces animation flickers and lags?
Rotate rotate = RotateBuilder.create()
.angle(60)
.pivotX(780/2)
.pivotY(0)
.pivotZ(0)
.axis(new Point3D(0, 1, 0))
.build();
rotate.angleProperty().bind( angle );
Group panes = GroupBuilder.create()
.children( pane )
.translateX(0)
.translateY(0)
.transforms(rotate)
.build();
TimelineBuilder.create().cycleCount(Timeline.INDEFINITE).keyFrames(
new KeyFrame(
Duration.seconds(0),
new KeyValue(angle, 0)
new KeyFrame(
Duration.seconds(6),
new KeyValue(angle, 359)
).build().play();

Try running the following sample and let me know if it has the same issues:
https://gist.github.com/1475424 (Rotation transform example).
Also run the 2D and 3D samples in Ensemble and see if those have issues on your system.
If you have issues then report the full environment for your system.
Haven't tried it in a long time, but there used to be quite a few gotchas involved in trying to rotate about the Y axis.
1. You need to give the item a positive z coordinate of using a ParallelCamera or when you start rotating some of the item will end up with a negative z co-ordinate and clipped as the ParallelCamera clips a z=0. But you can't make the z co-ordinate too large as the ParallelCamera also clips at about z=scene height.
2. Depth buffering should be enabled on the scene.
3. You should check the SCENE3D conditional feature.
4. You should be running using recent video card drivers.
5. You should ensure that your hardware meets the minimum requirements for hardware acceleration as defined in the JavaFX installation guide for your operating system.
6. You might get a better looking result if you use a PerspectiveCamera.
7. If you apply effects to 3D nodes, results will be unpredictable.
8. For JavaFX 8+ the 3D logic in JavaFX will change greatly so some of the statements above will probably not be applicable.

  • Still images exported to DVD look deinterlaced and flicker on TV monitor

    Hi,
I have tried tried almost everything and I still have issues with the still images exported to DVD as sequencefrom FCP 7.0 by using Compressor are deinterlaced and flicker on TV monitor. Please help remove the annoying flicker.
My FCP Timeline Sequence settings match the image resolution:
    Frame Size: 1024 x 682 (double of 720 x 480 standard DVD res)
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square
    Field Dominance: None
Compressor: Photo JPG (also tried, DVCPRO-NTSC)
I cropped the original images in Photoshop to the 1024 x 682 and saved as tiffs. They still look deinterlaced in FCP timeline and exported to DVD on my iMac computer monitor.
Final output of DVD will be on this monitor:
    Specifications:
    Ikegami
    Model: VCM-2101
    Resolution: 450 TV Lines (Horizontal)
Should I crop the images to 450 horizontal pixels or the double of that 900?
How can I match the sequence or the images settings to avoid the flicker and deinterlaced look on that monitor? I am not able to test the image by having the monitor next to computer.
    Compressor:
I used custom DVD settings in Compressor for 90 min best quality DVD. Tried the Porgressive and "Same as Source" in Output field.
In "Crop to" and "Padding" I set for preserve source aspect ratio and letterbox area of source.
I followed the advices from below and I still did not resolve the problem. Please is there anythign else I can try?
    Thanks a lot..

Things to try (In increasing order of image degradation)
    - (in FCP) field order>none
    - (in FCP or Photoshop) reduce whites by 10% - reduces overly bright areas
    - (in FCP) flicker filter - minimum
    - (in Photoshop) motion blur>vertical> .2 - .5 pixels - blurs vertically only
    - (In FCP or Photoshop) Gaussian blur> .2 - .5 pixels -blurs both horizontally as well as vertically
    - (in FCP or Photoshop) deinterlace - throws away half the image and is generally not appropriate on scanned images

    Dear Russ,
Thank you very much. Yes, there is something else in the sequence, old documentary, 768 x 570 (no field dominance, 25fps, Apple ProRes 422) but the images are more imporant.
make a progressive sequence with  square pixels. (I am partial to 720P, 1080 should work – or 540). Choose Pro Res 422
Do you mean that I should make a sequence in FCP with these settings? If yes, how can I set a "progressive" sequence? I dont see a setting for output field in FCP sequence settings, lnly in customizing Compressor output DVD format.
Also: "720P, 1080 should work – or 540" are you talking about Frame size? If so, to set in Compressor or in FCP?
If you have interlaced material, then de-interlace before you bring it in. If you don't have interlaced clips, don't de-interlace.
The images are not interlaced after  I crop them, apply motion blur filter in Photoshop but look interlaced in FCP timeline after I import them and even to the same as photos sequence in FCP timeline.
Please help and thank you for your comments.

  • MacBook Air is laggy and the fan is out of control

My MacBook Air 2013 is laggy and the fan is out of control. The fan is out of control even when I start my macbook up. I don't know if it has something to do with Yosemite or something else. I have tried SMC restarting, and nothing has changed. I would really love to hear if anyone else is having this problem, and I would love to hear if any of you have any tips. Also I checked if anything is using up my CPU a bunch, and nothing is out of the ordinary.

The kernel is using excessive processor cycles. Below are some possible causes for the condition.
    Throttling
When it gets high temperature readings from the hardware, or low voltage readings from the battery of a MacBook, the kernel may try to compensate by interrupting the processor(s) to slow them down and reduce power consumption. This condition can be due to:
☞ a buildup of dust on the logic board
    ☞ high ambient temperature
    ☞ a worn-out or faulty battery in a portable
☞ the malfunction of a cooling fan, a temperature sensor, a voltage sensor, or some other internal component
Note that if the problem is caused by a sensor, there may be no actual overheating or undervoltage.
If the computer is portable, test with and without the AC adapter connected. If kernel_task hogs the processor only on AC power, charging is causing the machine to heat up. That behavior may be normal for some models. CPU usage should drop when charging is complete.
Apple Diagnostics or the Apple Hardware Test, though not very reliable, is sometimes able to detect a fault. For more thorough hardware testing, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.
If nothing is wrong with the hardware, then whatever you can do to improve cooling may help.
    Installed software
User-installed software that includes a device driver or other kernel code may thrash the kernel. That category includes virtualization software, such as Parallels and VMware, as well as most commercial "anti-virus" products. Some system-monitoring applications, such as "iStat," can also contribute to the problem. You can test for this possibility by completely disabling or removing the software according to the developer's instructions, or starting in safe mode. Note, however, that disabling a system modification without removing it or testing in safe mode may not be as easy as you think.
    Corrupt NVRAM or SMC data
Sometimes the problem is cleared up by resetting the NVRAM or the SMC.
    External display
Connecting an external LCD display to some MacBook Pro models while the lid is open may cause this issue. If applicable, test by closing the lid or disconnecting the display. You might get better results with a newer LED display.

  • Mac OSX Leopard running very laggy and jerky...

Hi, I remember using panther and I had no issues whatsoever. I recently installed leopard and i started noticing at times it would be laggy or jerky. For example (and this is the only time I see it), when I minimize a window (any window from any program) the animation as it goes down isn't smooth like it used to be. At times its very laggy and jerky. I know its a minor issue compared to other problems but it bothers me tremendously.
Another thing, with time machine. I try to set it up but when I do it wont give me the option to choose the disk to back up my files in. Any help? Please?

Have you tried using Disk Utility to do a Disk Repair, as shown in this link, while booted up on your install disk?
You could have some directory corruption. Let us know what errors Disk Utility reports and if DU was able to repair them.

Only way I can proceed is if either restart Firefox (very annoying) or reduce the window and open it again. Please help!

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • ProRes files act crazy and transcoding to Animation codec gets ugly

So, allegedly, the Animation codec is lossless. However, when I take something encoded with Apple ProRes 422 HQ and transcode to Animation within the Quicktime Pro software, I see noticeable differences. Including: color change and increased aliasing.
The same is true when attempting to export stills from ProRes, even in the highest, most lossless formats. I am wondering if ProRes for PC is actually not quite ready for prime time? When I import a ProRes file into After Effects, I notice the same quality drop associated with trying to transcode it to a lossless format. It seems as though ONLY QT Pro has the capability to display ProRes files properly. If this is the case, this is largely useless, since I can't then USE these ProRes files for anything. What the heck guys? I wouldn't have had clients deliver me ProRes encoded stuff if I knew that it didn't actually maintain its integrity.
Please help out as soon as possible. Clients with deadlines are waiting on a solution that doesn't involve me spending 4000 grand on a new machine and FCP.

As a test, try nesting the problem sequence in a new empty sequence then export that new sequence using QuickTime. Let us know whether or not that succeeds.
    Cheers

  • Reduce image size and print it out?

I scanned an image (coloring on a postcard). This size is too big to fit into a 'album' picture in MS Picture It! All I want to do is REDUCE the image and save it so that it will fit into the computer photo album I'm creating.
I've tried Image/Resize/Image Size and changed the sizing, but it still comes out the exact same size as the original. What am I doing wrong?

    > I want to REDUCE the image, not enlarge it.
I understood that - what makes you think I didn't?
    > It's 948x645 pixels. I just want the image about an inch (respectively) smaller
You can't think in terms of inches for screen images. You have to work in pixels and the actual size will depend upon the screen resolution on the machine being used to view the image.
I'd reduce the pixel size by about 80 to get the effect that you want. Use Image/Resize/Image Size and make sure that you have "Resample" checked.

  • My macbook pro 2010 is really laggy and slow any help

my macbook pro 2010 is really laggy and slow any help

    Hi..
Not enough free space on the startup disk can slow the system down.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop.
Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.
Freeing Up Hard Disk Space - Mac GuidesFreeing Up Hard Disk Space - Mac Guides
Starting up in Safe Mode deletes system caches that can help also. Keep in mind a Safe Mode boot takes longer then a normal boot so be patient. Once you see the Desktop, click the Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click Restart.
And disabling the resume feature can help.
Open System Preferences > General. Deselect:  Reopen windows when quitting and re-opening apps

  • Save as Reduced Size PDF and Save as Optimized PDF do not reduce the file size.  What gives?

Save as Reduced Size PDF and Save as Optimized PDF do not reduce the file size.  What gives?  I used Acrobat 9 to do this for a long time.  I recently received new laptop loaded with with Acrobat 10 and it does not work the same.  I typically scan 8-10 pages of receipts, combine the files in Acrobat, and then optimize to reduce the size so I can upload with my expense report.  Typically, my files were reduced to 200-400 KB.  I have a 2 MB file that will not reduce at all.

Bernd, thank you for your attempt to help but the option dialog windows do not contain the same options.  There are numerous other posts on this forum about this issue and there is no answer.  Clearly, there is an issue.  I have submitted this issue to our internal help desk.

  • I have a ipod touch 4g for 3 or four years its in perfect condition no scratches or breaks but its so laggy and slow ive tried everything

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

  • Reducing app size and using memory

Building with release preference Blank App template will give you a ~200kb .exe, which in running state use ~7mb of memory.
It has a huge list of external dependencies.
So, is it possible to reduce app size and using memory?
Or, how safely unlink from app headers that really didnt used?

generally speaking  premature optimization is not a good idea.
Normally those tricks we learned from stone age are picked by tools already.
So if you experice performance/optimization issue
optimization ususally goes with repeated measure -> optimize -> verify

  • Program is really laggy and horrible

For some strange reason, when I tried to add some more
functions to my code, the program became really laggy and things
such as the shadows started to have horrible quality. Aside from
that, the screen does not clear the old lines from the screen, so
it keeps making an "array" of lines, if you will. Not exactly sure
what's wrong; I've looked through the code several times and am
stumped. I need your help! Thanks so much in advance.

Well, I'm not sure what exactly I added to make it do this,
but what I've discovered is that when the problem occurs, and I
"undo" to the last stable compiling, the error still occurs. I have
to close Flash and reopen the file to make it go away. But if I've
saved, I have to make a brand new file (basically by copying the
library and Actionscript over, thus "cloning" the file). Not sure
    what this could all mean.

  • MB Pro 2011 laggy and choppy!!!

I own a barrely 1 year old Macbook Pro and I´m starting to notice some lagging on it.
First I noticed Safari crashing every now and then when i open a new tab, then Safari started getting slow and using a lot of memory.
What I just recently noticed was when I do the "three finger swipe" to see all my widows - it´s not "zooming out" very smooth, instead it is laggy and choppy!!
Must say it´s very annoying and it might seem as it is a minor issue, but my Pro is not even a year old and it shouldn´t be doing that in the first place.
But also, I see it as there must be a bigger underlaying issue???
So, I decided to do a recovery and re-install Lion, took a few hours and it didn´t change anything. At least not the lagging when swiping three fingers, Safari hasn´t crashed yet, but it´s only been an hour since I recovered tho.
    What could be the problem?!

Many have suggested that some choppy playback issues (for in-browser playback) are related to the Adobe Flash plugin.
Adobe has released a new version of the Flash plugin this week, which may perform better (although I can't confirm that the problem has gone away completely).
Here are some steps to follow to cleanly update your Flash:
    1) Download the Flash plugin un-installer from Abobe, available at: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
    2) Close all browsers on your machine and run the Abobe Flash plugin un-installer you downloaded for your platform.
    3) Open your browser and reinstall the Adobe Flash plugin (v.10.0.42.34 or greater), available from Adobe at: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
    4) After the installation, close and re-open your browser, then try playing back some Flash video at YouTube or wherever...
    Hopefully this works. Good luck.
