Reference Required to assembly CrystalDecisions.Shared

I have just installed Visual Studio 2010 Professional and SAP Crystal Reports version for Visual Studio 2010, both default installations on a clean Windows XP installation.  I launch VS2010, and Create a New Project, selecting "Reporting", and then "Crystal Reports Application".  In the "Create a New Crystal Report Document" area, I select "As a Blank Report".  Immediately, I get two errors, both saying:
Reference required to assembly 'CrystalDecisions.Shared, Version=13.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e304' containing the type 'CrystalDecisions.Shared.RequestContext'.  Add one to your project.
I check my project references, and find that under .NET, CrystalDecisions.Shared is already there.  Double-clicking on ther error, and clicking on the link that says "Add reference..." by the error in the code does nothing.
What am I missing here?  Is SAP Crystal Reports for VS2010 just broken?  Please help!

Well, you're the 1st one to report this issue so, I suspect we're not looking at a "break" here.
See if doing a repair on VS 2010 will help. Reinstalling CRVS2010 may be an idea. Make sure you install as a local Admin.
Check the GAC, see if the assembly is there.

  • Could not load file or assembly 'CrystalDecisions.Shared, Version=12.0.2000

I downloaded the trial version of CR 2008 in order to test an update of a report from Crystal 10.  I would also add that I am using CR 2008 embedded in Visual Studio .Net 2005.  I was able to successfully upgrade the report and run it without issue from the .Net debugger.  However when I deploy the report to the users machine when it attempts to display the report I get the following error:
Could not load file or assembly 'CrystalDecisions.Shared, Version=12.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKey Token=692fbea5521e1304' or one of its dependencies.  The system cannot fined the file specified.
Since I was able to successfully deploy the report with CR 10, my question is do I need to purchase a version of CR 2008 in order to deploy?  I just want to make sure that this is indeed the issue prior to making the purchase.  If that is not the case can you please point me to proper deployment procedures for 2008, perhaps there is something I am missing.
    Thanks much for your assistance,
    Mike

I will assume that when you are viewing the report you are using a custom app which uses CR 2008.  To deploy your app you will need two things:
    1. The Runtimes
    2. A valid Keycode
You can obtain the Runtimes here:
    Runtime Downloads
    CR 2008 msi: https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100005985862008E/cr120_redist_install.zip
    CR 2008 click once: https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100005986302008E/cr120_clickonce.zip
    CR 2008 msm: https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100005985842008E/cr120_mm.zip
You can also find these by going to here:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/businessobjects-downloads
and selecting "Crystal Reports", ".NET", and "Utility"
I'm not sure if your eval keycode will work to deploy - but even if it does, the application will eventually stop working when the eval period runs out.  If you want it to keep working, you will need to purchase a permanent keycode.

  • CrystalDecisions.Shared Version=12.0.2000.0 not found!

    Hi experts,
I have developed a .NET desktop applicarion in Visual Studio 2005 which uses CR 11 assemblies. I built the application on my dev PC and it runs fine and showing Crytal reports properly. But when I installed the same application on my user's machine it throws an error "Could not load file or assembly 'CrystalDecisions.Shared Version=12.0.2000.0'" or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."
The interesting fact is that, I never used/referenced any of the Crystal 12.0.2000.0 assemblies in my application! all what I'm using is CR 11 assemblies. Still the runtime is complaining about the 12 version. Also, the CR pre-requisites I installed on the user's machine was "Business Objects Crystal Reports XI R2 SP3 Runtimefiles". No idea where the Crystal 12 reference kicks in!
I would appreciate your thoughts on this issue.
    Thanks in advance!
    KB Hunter

    Hi Don,
Thanks for your response! My team and I were debugging for a couple of hours now and looks like we got some clue on what's going on. Your point about the 'runtime confusion' is very valid. The runtime I had on my dev machine was "Business Objects Crystal Reports XI R2 SP3 Runtime Files"(which is the one on my user's PC too). When the application was built on my machine it was referencing the 11.5.x assemblies. If I had deployed this exe to my user's machine that would have worked fine.
However, we have an automated build process here where I have to promote the code to the build server and get it built there and then moved to users' machines. We noticed that the build server has another runtime version("SAP Business Objects Crystal Reports Runtime 2008" which utilizes 12.x assemblies) which forces my exe to internally point to the 12.x assemblies(reflection proved this). It's indeed confusing that the 12.x assemblies are force referenced this way though the application explicitly references 11.5.x assemblies only.
As a work-around we advised the user to install the second runtime and when she did that the application started working fine! We are going to enforce "SAP Business Objects Crystal Reports Runtime 2008" as a pre-requisite for our application. Hope this will resolve this issue - at least for now.
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts on the issue. Hope somebody else will find this post useful later!
    Cheers!

  • Could not load file or assembly CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.Desktop.User

I had briefly looked into Crystal Reports within my Visual Studio 2008 solution. However since the project needed to be done quickly I removed the report and the references to Crystal.  Now I have deployed my application using Publish onto my QA server where I am getting the following error.  I checked my references, webconfig and imports to make sure the solution didnt have anything tied to Crystal and found nothing.  Why am I getting this error when I am no longer using the product?  Is there some way to remove the requirement for the assembly?  I also tried installing the Crystal Reports 2008 basic redistributable to my server with no luck.

There has to be a reference to it somewhere in the project or it would not be throwing the error.
You will have to recheck each page, references, web.config, compile options, etc, until you find it.
Make sure you don't have it in a using statement or are referencing it directly in code.

  • Method not found: 'Void CrystalDecisions.Shared.ReportStateInfo.set_DataSou

We have a VB.NET project which has recently been migrated from Visual Studio 2003 / .NET 1.1 and Crystal Reports 11 to Visual Studio 2010 / .NET 3.5 and Crystal Reports 2008.
One of the forms uses the crystaldecisions.windows.forms.crystalreportviewer control, and at the point of trying to display a report, pops up the following error since the migration:
    Method not found: 'Void CrystalDecisions.Shared.ReportStateInfo.set_DataSource(System.Data.DataSet)'.
All other Crystal Reports functionality is working fine.  As far as I can see, the control being used is version 12.0.2000.0 (although 12.0.1100.0 also seems to be available, and suffers from the same problem).  All of the Crystal Reports references in the project point to files in C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\managed and are version 12.0.1100.0.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?  Are the wrong versions of the control / DLLs being used?  Any advice on how to get this working would be useful!
    Thanks in advance,
    Anthony.

    Sorry, answering my own question!
I've since discovered the .NET 2.0 DLLs in C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\managed\dotnet2 (i.e. version 12.0.2000.0) - switching the references to them fixed the problem.
    Anthony.

  • Could not load file or assembly 'CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll

    Hi there,
I am going through the process of migrating an existing web solution from Visual Studio 2008 to Visual Studio 2010.
As part of that I have installed the recently released Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010.
One of our projects has a reference to  'CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine and everything seems fine within Visual Studio 2010, but when I try to run the solution I get the following error.
System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll' or one of its dependencies.  is not a valid Win32 application. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800700C1)
I have set up the projects to target .net framework 4 and started by setting them to compile for 32 bit....
This is quite frustrating so any ideas would be very much appreciated.
    Kind Regards
    Robert

    Hi Don,
Yes, it is set to the full framework... I am running on a 64 bit Windows 7 machine.
One thing I have noticed is that if I try to load the crystal library through Depends (an application that shows the library dependancies), the different libraries that CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll depend on are listed as 64 bit (on my machine), yet  'CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll  is a 32 bit library... this is flagged as an error in depends... In fact the first time I ran it it also couldn't find IESHIMS.DLL (because it is not in the PATH) by default.  Anyway, there is no 64 bit CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll that I can see so I'm a bit confused.  In fact I am a lot confused.
I have not as yet tried to building a fresh simple test solution with a crystal reference in it..
    Thanks
    Robert

    Thank you in advance.

    A couple things here:
Your application is referencing the Windows form dll for the bundled version of Cr that comes with VS.NET 2008 and NOT the Crystal Reports 2008 runtime.  You need to change the references in the project to 12.xxx assuming you have Crystal Reports 2008 SP0 installed (this is needed for it to work with .NET 2008)
You need to make sure you deploy the runtimes for the appropriate version.  If you get your application upgraded to use all of the CR 2008 runtimes you will then need to deploy the runtimes to the machine you are deploying to.  You can do this by using the merge modules or the server install msi to get them on the machine.

Use [Process Monitor|http://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx] to trace through the loads and look for "Access Denied". Also, look for the rpt file(s), see what is happening with them.
Finally, search these forums, lot of info on the error. And search the kbase:

I'd suggest looking at a few resources and sample apps.
    Sample apps:
    https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/CrystalReportsfor.NETSDK+Samples
I'd suggest vbnet_win_dbengine to see info re. database logon. Also search these forums and use the search box at the top right of this web page. Lots of info on database logons.  Vbnet_win_simplepreviewreport is a good example of loading a report.
    Also, see the following;

Could not load file or assembly 'CrystalDecisions.Web,

    PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304' or one of its
dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
May i know why it happens, i added the lattest version web application dll and msm then why it raise this error and experts help me how to resolve it. This is my urgent work please help

    Hi;
I'm not sure how you deployed, but from the sounds of things you simply copied the .MSM files to the client computer - is that correct?
What you need to do is create a runtime package on your development computer, adding the .MSM to that package.
Or you can install the NET Server install .MSI file on the client ([download|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009657852008E/crxir2sp4_net_si.zip])
This is discussed in the forums, such as here:

  • Could not load file or assembly CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.Controller

    Hello
I am getting this error in Visual Studio 2010 on Windows 7 64 bit.
Could not load file or assembly 'CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.Controllers, Version=13.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692....1304' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
I installed CR redistributable on the workstation and verified that the file does in fact exist and is the correct version.
    Please help.

Hi Ludek, thanks for your reply. Sorry if I'm confusing you, but I'm a bit confused myself
Here is what I hope is a better explanation.
The way it works is that we have a web application in IIS on Windows Server 2008 64-bit. What we do is copy the templates (ASPX files) and bin (DLL) files to the Windows Server's IIS via Team Foundation. The files are accessed with a web browser. We don't compile/debug because previously, our CMS's code behinds were mixed C# and VB and the application would not compile. However, the files can still be accessed via a web browser and the dynamic website worked fine. "Debugging" was done via trial and error on a testing server.
Now, we have upgraded the CMS so all the code behinds are C# and the site should compile. One of our web apps (that doesn't use Crystal Reports) has compiled successfully and I am currently doing the second one. I am trying to compile the whole application for the first time on my workstation, but the Crystal Reports DLLs are causing errors. I used the 64-bit re-distributable Crystal Reports for Visual Studio version 13_0_1 because I wanted to make sure I had the same version as our Web servers.
We do not run the web app from the IDE (have never been able to), except for now when I am trying to build/compile on my workstation via Visual Studio. In production it is accessed on the web server via web browsers only.
I hope this makes more sense as to what I am trying to do. Thanks for the link but I am afraid if I install 13_0_2 I will start getting version conflicts.as the server has 13_0_1 64-bit.
Thanks for your help so far and I hope this helps!

  • Customer reference required in PIR, at the goods receipt from Production

    Hi Gurus,
I have a scenario as below.  The production plan arrived based on the marketting forecast.
During the production we want to have the customer reference. The product is allocated to the customers.
When the production order is delivered in stores  upon receipt of the production order the customer reference to be allocated to the stock.
Please suggest the suitable stragey and influencing factors.
    Thanks and regards
    Murugesan

    Hello Murugesan,
As your requirement is get stock allocated to each customer, It suggests to me that you need to have Made to order (MTO) planning strategy to achieve this. Planning strategy 50 will allow you to enter demand (PIR) for the material based on Marketing forecast. System will then plan for all lower level components & sub assemblies of this material however planned order for the customer required material cannot be converted to production order till you enter actual sale order.
This way you can enter demand plan (PIR) in SAP as per Marketing forecast & do the MRP driven planning & also production order will deliver to each respective sale order stock.
This seems to be the best PS based on what you have stated. There are other PS like 60 but it is a little more complex & used for specific cases.
Hope this clarifies. Else please come back.
    Thanks,
    Ram

  • How to reference Business Objects Assembly in C#

For one of our project, we are creating BO Reports (as .REP, .PDF files) and it is automated one using macros. In macros, we are passing parameters to the report.
Now we need to reimplement the same in .NET.
We have installed Business Objects XI Release 2 and selected "Desktop Intelligence" in Client machine.
While trying to create a VS.NET Windows application, we didnt find any assemblies to add and we found COM dll named "Business Objects Library 11.5".
Now, are we referring the right assemby for developing the application? If no, then what is the exact assembly and where it can be downloaded.
Please provide us any samples/links on how to use the .REP file in .NET application.
    Thanks in advance

Depending on what you are trying to do you may be able to do it using .NET:

or you may have to still use COM:

  • COA Requirement for 'Assembly' products

    Dear Experts
We are in process of Implementing SAP QM using ECC 6.0 and we have one requirement for our "Toll Manufacturer" (Third Party Producers for us). These toll manufacturers produce chemical products for us and do the Quality Checks and Ship to customer. They have their own tool (non SAP) to monitor/record Production Data and Quality Details. During the implementation of QM in our own production facilities globally, we also migrate these toll manufacturer from the existing QM tool they are using to SAP QM.
The need for COA in our own facilities have been meet, but for toll manufacturing sites, the requirement is as below to address:
These toll manufacturers currently generate COAs on “Assembly” products.  What this means is that the test data can be pulled from multiple products and then combined on the “Assembly” COA.  For example in their current legacy system , toll manufacturers uses “ Assembly ” functionality  to capture results for any Component (say C1) and this result is used in various Assemblies (Finished Goods, say F1 and F2). Now while printing COAs they refer the batch / lot result for the C1 to print in Assemblies (F1 , F2) . Is there any such functionality available in SAP Qm or can you please advise how to address this requirement prefrably using standard SAP system?
    Thanks

If you are batch managed and have a batch-where-used history set up in SAP yes.. that functionality is there for COA's.  To create a proper batch-where-used history you have to have used the production/process orders to consume the various components into the each assembled product until the final assembly is done.
In your case, I'm not sure how SAP would know what went into what since you get the final assembly delivered to you and have no assembly information.  I have heard of people adding info to the batch where used table directly but I have never done it.  You would need to create material masters for all the sub-components where the various results might come from.  I think it would be a lot of work to accomplish.
Why not just have the tollers send you the final product COA resutls?
