Refresh from Crystal Viewer?

Is it possible to refresh report data using Crystal Reports Viewer X1?  If so, how?
Thanks,
Tracy

Replying to Brian, who raised this issue again:
The refresh button is only enabled if the user is connected to the SAP BI Platform.  So, as an administrator, I might schedule a report to be run and delivered in .rptr (Crystal Reports Read Only) from the SAP BI Platform.  This enables the content recipient to view the read only data, much like with a .pdf file, but with features common to Crystal Reports when viewed in Crystal Reports itself or in the BI Launchpad viewers. This includes features like drill down, filters, dynamic column sorting, etc...
If the recipient doesn't have a license to connect to the SAP BI Platform then the content is read only.  If, however, the recipient has a license for the SAP BI Platforms and the appropriate permissions to run the report on demand then the recipient can login to the BI Platform through the viewer and refresh the report to get the latest data without having to go directly through the BI Launchpad and without having to open a copy of a production report in a development tool like Crystal Reprorts.

    I have launched the crystal report from an ASPX application.  For the print icon , I have added code for opening the ActiveX print window instead of usual crystal print window.

    We have implemented RDC type of reporting and not the RAS .

  • Printing from Crystal Viewer through IE 7

    I have a user that's printing some forms from a database that outputs to crystal viewer through IE 7.  This error window comes up when the user tries to print the report from IE 7:
    1.      Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page, or
    2.      You have blocked a publisher of one of the controls
    As a result, the page may not display correctly.
    I've searched the issue and set the correct activex settings for this type of error for IE and still no dice.  I've been searching tirelessly through different forums and tried various options from trying different activex controls and trying to set the virtual directory where activex needs to be activated.  The environment is vista business and the browser is IE 7.  I hear there compatibility issue's with vista and there's updated activex controls.  I just wanted to know if there's an updated package so I can try this solution out as this is affecting a whole dept.  Any info would be much appreciated!  Thanks.

    Ok, if you are using 11.0 and not 11.5 then check out this [platforms |http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/e09198a1-911e-2b10-179f-ce8eed51aed0]pdf file. We do support Vista with the latest Service Pack but we do not support IE 7. So no work around for you. All I can suggest is either ask them to upgrade there program/runtime to CR XI R2 ( 11.5 ) or you will have to roll back to IE 6.
    CR XI ( 11.0 ) is past its end of life so no new platform support will be added. Let your software owners know they can upgrade to CR XI R2 for free.
    Here's the info:
    Go to this link: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc and download the trial version of CR XI R2 and use your XI keycode, then apply the patches which you can get to by clicking on the BusinessObjects tab above, then Downloads.
    Direct link to the Trial version: http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/freetrials/index.epx
    Do not do this yourself, they must update their runtime and application. You doing so will not work.

  • Automate Print from Crystal Viewer

    Is there any C# .NET web application code that will trigger the Print button on the CrystalReportsViewer toolbar?
    I was sent the code below in another thread, but have not been able to get it to work in C#. It says that 'ctrl' can never be type Windows.Forms.ToosStrip because it is of the System.Web.UI.Controls collection. Can you help shed some light for me???
        Private Sub DoWork(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
            MessageBox.Show("Do your code here")
        End Sub
        Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
            For Each ctrl As Control In CrystalReportViewer1.Controls
                If TypeOf ctrl Is Windows.Forms.ToolStrip Then
                    Dim btnNew As New ToolStripButton
                    btnNew.Text = "My Button"
                    CType(ctrl, ToolStrip).Items.Add(btnNew)
                    AddHandler ctrl.Click, AddressOf DoWork
                End If
            Next
        End Sub

    The code that you referred to is how you would do it in a windows forms application, it will not work in a web application.
    The only way to do it in a web application is essentially through javascript.  What you would want to do is capture the html that is generated when you click the print button. Essentially what happens when you press the print button on the viewer is it does a postback and adds some javascript to the page to launch the print dialog.
    Each version and patch level may differ on the syntax of the javascript so you will need to figure out what you need to add for your version.

  • Crystal Viewer error "This field name is not known"

    I have MAS500 with crystal 10 that runs a report from a view in a SQL data base and it ran fine when only MAS500 and ABRA were installed on the terminal server. Then we installed a new product CribMaster that also uses Crystal 10.  After CribMaster was installed we got the error "This field name is not known" from Crystal viewer.  The report has a selection parametar .  I feel that there is a dll file that got over written, but do not know which one.  I can run the report from Crystal OK, but not from within the application.

    Since you can run the report from Crystal OK, but not from within the application, I'd recommend trying to figure out the dlls loading, or not in the app. Use a utility such as [Modules|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006252802008E/modules.zip] to determine the differences. Modules will compare the log results for you (Module menu, choose "Differences").
    You may also want to consider contacting the app creators to see if they can help...

  • Passing Value from Crystal Report (special function) to Business View parameter

    Friends,
                 Í have a scenario where i need to pass value from Crystal Report to a Business view's parameter.
    Eg : CurrentCEUsername (func in crystal report)-- gives login user  which i should pass to parameter in a Business view (used in the same report).
    Will be able to explain more if required.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Bharath

    I guess you got the picture wrong.  User_id is not a report_level parameter .
    In Data Foundation, below query is used..
    select Acc_Number, Account_Group,User_id  from Accounts where user_id={?User_id}
    where in {?User_id}  is the BV parameter...
    The Filter was a solution. But it takes long time to Query all the data from DB and then filter at BV level.
    How do i pass the CurrentCEUsername to {?User_id}
    Value should ve CurrentCEusername always. so that query will be
    select Acc_Number, Account_Group,User_id  from Accounts where user_id=CurrentCEusername
    It will restrict the data pulled from DB to BV .. right?

  • How to print directly to Printer from Crystal Report Viewer ?

    Hi All,
    We are integrating our Java Web Application with Crystal report XI, currently using JRC and export to PDF for user to preview and print to local printer.
    Now there is new requirement :
    Some clients is using thin client terminal (no harddisk, only has OS +Browser in ROM), so I cannot install Acrobat Reader for them to preview&print the report.
    So I am looking at  Crystal Report Viewer, the question is : Can I print from Crystal Report Viewer directly to local printer without first converting it to PDF (because I can't have acrobat reader installed) ??
    Thank you very much,
    Krist
    Indonesia

    Hi,
    It can't be achieved through XI.
    JRCXI R2 SDK offers the ability to print the report server side
    using the PrintOutputController using printReport(PrintReportOptions printReportOptions) method.
    Here is the code(for XIR2):
    import="com.crystaldecisions.reports.sdk.*"
    import="com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.*"
    import="com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.document.*"
    try {
    final String REPORT_NAME = "Inventory.rpt";
    ReportClientDocument reportClientDoc = new ReportClientDocument();
    reportClientDoc.open(REPORT_NAME, 0);
    //Create and set print options.
    PrintReportOptions printOptions = new PrintReportOptions();
    //Note: Printer with the 'printer name' below must already be configured.
    printOptions.setPrinterName("
    10.10.45.220
    BOBJ 2C");
    printOptions.setJobTitle("Sample Print Job from JRC.");
    printOptions.setPrinterDuplex(PrinterDuplex.horizontal);
    printOptions.setPaperSource(PaperSource.auto);
    printOptions.setPaperSize(PaperSize.paperLetter);
    printOptions.setNumberOfCopies(1);
    printOptions.setCollated(false);
    PrintReportOptions.PageRange printPageRange = new PrintReportOptions.PageRange(1,1);
    printOptions.addPrinterPageRange(printPageRange);
    //NOTE: If parameters or database login credentials are required, they need to be set before.
    //calling the printReport() method of the PrintOutputController.
    reportClientDoc.getPrintOutputController().printReport(printOptions);
    reportClientDoc.close();
    out.println("Successfully sent report to the printer.");
    catch(ReportSDKException ex) {
         out.println(ex);
    Please revert in case you have any query.
    Thanks,
    Neeraj

    Open a Crystal Report that prints landscape.

    Viewer will attempt to scale output to fit on portrait paper, with varying degrees of success.
    Checking the properties of the report from Viewer (File...Report Properties...) shows a "Page Orientation" of "Landscape" and a message "Page Orientation and size defined by the application (no page information set by report author)."

    Hello Glenda,
    as you refer to the legacy technology I recommend to post this query to the [Legacy Application Development SDKs|SAP Crystal Reports - Legacy SDKs; forum.
    This forum is dedicated to topics related to legacy SDKs, including the Report Designer Component (RDC), OCX, VCL, and Crystal Reports Print Engine (CRPE).
    It is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there.
    Also, all Legacy Application Development SDKs queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.
    Thanks a lot,

  • Refresh/Reprocess view from another view.

    Hi all,
    I'm facing a problem with reprocessing a view in webgui:
    In component BT126H_CALL i've created a new assignment block ZREGDETAILS based on a Z-table which contains products.
    Also in component BT126H_CALL i've enhanced a view SCDETAILS and added a total-field (ztotal) that should show the total value of the records in ZREGDETAILS.
    My problem is now that view SCDETAILS is processed before ZREGDETAILS, so I cannot update the ztotal field... How can I call the SCDETAILS to be reprocessed again from the ZREGDETAILS view?
    In other projects I used folowing code for calling the save event on ZREGDETAILS from another view. But in this case the SCDETAILS is not a subcontroller of ZREGDETAILS.
      DATA: sub_contr TYPE REF TO CL_BSP_WD_VIEW_CONTROLLER,
            contr_regdetails TYPE REF TO ZL_ZBT126H__REGDETAILS_IMPL.
      sub_contr = ME->GET_SUBCONTROLLER_BY_VIEWNAME('ZBT126H_CALL/ZRegdetails').
      IF sub_contr is bound.
        contr_regdetails ?= sub_contr.
        contr_regdetails->Save( ).
      ENDIF.
    Many thanks in advance!
    Siegfried

    Hi Pooja,
    According to my understanding on action of radio buttons i hope you are calling some other component so on action of the radio  button may be it might be any of the radio button u can set the radio buttons as it was initially and then call the screen ...
    Setting the radio buttons should be done in the action of radio buttons... By doing this i hope that radio buttons will be set and second view also will be calleed when we go back to the screen we can view the radio buttons refreshed.. Try this hope it might be helpful...

    Sana.

  • Printing from Crystal Reports Viewer

    I have an issue with a customer demanding to print Post Script from Crystal Report Viewer.  When we print using the PS driver we get the form, but the data is blank.  If we use PCL the report prints fine.  Is there any recommendations for using PCL or PS.  Customer says that Crystal reports are Post Script driven and the PS driver should work.  Any help with this would be appreciated.

    Thank you Mariellen for posting the solution.
    Also note that we have only tested the Zebra Printer with the Zebra Print Drivers. I worked with their developers and they said all drivers use the same under laying code so they should all work.
    The other requirement is you must define your paper size in the driver config tool for each size you are going to use, have a separate Printer defined on your PC.
    Thank you

  • Remove the Crystal Reports (.rpt) Export Option from IE Viewer

    When I click the "export" button from my IE Crystal Viewer the first export option is "Crystal Reports".  I need to get rid of that option as I don't want my clients to export my report to an .rpt file.
    How do I manage this list in .Net 2005?  I know there is a file that needs to be modified but I just don't know which one.

    When you click on Export button a window should pop up which contains a dropdown for all formats.
    As you are not getting dropdown.The .js file is not correct.Copy the same file from some other machine of same version or
    You can try with making changes in export.js file.
    Path of export.js file is :
    C:\WINDOWS:\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\ASP.NET ClientFiles\CrystalReportWebformViewer3\JS\export.js
    Create backup of that file before editing.
    Hope this helps!!

  • Can you view Subreports in Crystal Viewer 2008

    I've created a report in Crystal Reports XI that also included two subreports.
    When I open it up in Crystal Viewer 2008 I'm not sure how to view the subreports.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    In Crystal Viewer you cannot refresh the report. You can refresh only when you are opening the report from server. So if your report consist of any on demand subreports it refreshes only when you click on the link. So I thikn on-demand subreport do not work in crystal viewer.
