Refresh List of Presets in Develop Settings?

Is it possible to force a refresh of list of the presets in the develop settings menu?  I want to get around this issue:
1)  Right click an image and select develop settings - a list of the presets in the CameraRaw/Settings folder is shown in the submenu.
2)  With bidge remaining in the foreground open, change the contents of the presets in the CameraRaw/Settings folder (I'm doing this with a jsx script in my case).
3)  Right click an image and go to develop settings again - the list shown is the same as the list in step 1.
4)  Give any other application focus and then come straight back into bridge.
5)  Right click an image, select develop settings again - this time the preset list reflects what's in the CameraRaw/Settings folder.
So is it possible to force bridge to refresh that list somehow within my jsx script?

Sorry no you can't alter a menu once it's been created.
You can access any of the items in the develop settings with...
//Develop Settings > Camera Raw Defaults
app.document.chooseMenuItem("CRDefault");
//Develop Settings > Previous Conversion
app.document.chooseMenuItem("CRPrevious");
//Develop Settings > Copy Settings
app.document.chooseMenuItem("CRCopy");
//Develop Settings > Paste Settings
app.document.chooseMenuItem("CRPaste");
//Develop Settings > Clear Settings
app.document.chooseMenuItem("CRClear");
You can't give focus to another application but you can send commands to another Adobe suite application using BridgeTalk
You can de-select all thumnails and select the ones you want to work on, a few commands below might be of use....
//change Bridge to folder
app.document.thumbnail = Folder(Folder.desktop + "/myfolder");
//de-select all thumbnails
app.document.deselectAll();
//select thumbnail
var thumb = new Thumbnail(thumb);
app.document.select(thumb);

  • Bridge CS4 does not see ACR presets in Develop Settings

    I think that this is new with CS4. I create a Preset in ACR in the Preset Panel. That Preset works fine on photos in ACR. The Preset is listed in the Camera Raw Settings folder in the Finder.
    But, when I try to apply the Preset in Bridge via Edit > Develop Settings, the Preset does not appear. Is this correct? I believe that a preset did appear in CS3 in Bridge Develop Settings.
    The preset was created with a Raw file from the 1DS MkIII. Could it be camera-related?
    Am I missing something here?
    Thanks,
    Sonny

    Strange. I Quit Bridge. Relaunched Bridge, and the Presets now appear in the Develop Settings list.
    I presume that I should not have to Quit and relaunch for the presets to appear?
    I created another preset. It only appeared in Develop Settings when I again quit and relaunched Bridge, even though it appears in the Camera Raw Settings folder.

  • Import preset change of develop settings saving problem.

    I think this is a bug:
    In Library/ Import
    When I want to change Apply during Import/ the Develop Settings, the my existing Import Preset cannot be updated with this change.
    I only can create a new Import Preset with that.
    But anyway if I change to another Import Preset the Develop Settings do not change and stay with the settings I did choose in the previous Import Preset.
    The newly created Import Preset works fine though in LR 3.6.
    Frans

    This is the behaviour under LR3 :
    Left down corner My Import Preset with Right top corner Develop Settings  set to None
    Now when I change the Develop Setting to B&W
    the Import Preset name changes to DMC-GF1 ©CFW Rename (Edited)
    That does not work in LR4.
    Keep up the Good Work ,Victoria ! Thanks.

  • Develop settings problem

    After I imported a photo on lightroom I go in develop and the problem is that i see the settings are NOT the same as shot in raw. Indeed the contrast the brightness and also the temperature and the color's tone are always the same. Also if i choose the develop settings on NONE. Now, does anybody knows how i can have the original settings as I shot, on the images that I'm going to work with?
    Ludovico Perfetto.

    You would have to choose "zeroed" which is at or near the bottom of the preset list.
    Personally I have developed my own import preset as the raw files are pretty bland an lifeless as they are just data from the sensors. They are not like the jpeg image on a camera LCD at all.
    None is not a zero setting but Adobes default setting which you can see in the develop module settings that are present after import.
    Hope that assists.
    Enjoy LR!!

  • Where is the Edit Develop Settings option???

    Hi all
    I am doing some study for my Photoshop ACE exam with the help of a study guide (ACE Exam Aid).
    One of the questions it asks is:
    You have saved the current image settings as a preset in Camera Raw and want to apply it in part or whole to selected raw files in bridge. What should you do?
    The answer turns out to be: Choose Edit > Develop Settings and then select preset by name.
    Now for the life of me I can't seem to find this Edit > Develop settings option in Photoshop, Camera RAW or Bridge!
    Any help would be greatly apprecaited.

    Highlight an image in bridge, then simply go to edit and it is the 11th choice down in the list.

  • Reading Develop Settings

    When I open an image and see the little "+/-" icon on the thumbnail, I know the image "Has Develop Adjustments."
    What is the correct way to read out these adjustments?  Currently, I try to just load the image and watch the sliders change position but there has to be better way.
    Is there a way to get a "list" of the adjustments for the image?  Is it stored in the Meta data somewhere, etc.?
    Second, but related, how do you, once you know the Develop settings, copy them to another image?
    Thanks

    Your develop settings are shown in the History panel whilst in the Develop Mode .
    To apply a set of develop settings to other images, select the image with the desire develop changes, then select the other images. Then select Sync in the develop mode, you can then select exactly which changes you wish to change.
    If you have a regular set of changes you wish to apply then save the settings as a preset which you can apply at any time.
    For further details on these see the LR help files, hit F1 whilst LR is open to view.

  • Clearing Developed Settings

    Hi
    Would anyone be so kind as to explain how I may be able to clear saved settings from my 'Develop Settings Bank'? In Camera Raw I can save my settings to be used again in Bridge by right clicking on an image and choosing develop settings and choosing my saved settings. When new to Camera Raw I experimented with (now) needless settings and I wish to clear them.
    Any explanation would be gratefully received. Many thanks
    Carl

    >>In Camera Raw I can save my settings to be used again in Bridge by right clicking on an image and choosing develop settings and choosing my saved settings. When new to Camera Raw I experimented with (now) needless settings and I wish to clear them.<<
    Yes, in Bridge, upon right-click on an image, all Presets created earlier are listed under Development Settings. You can delete such Presets in Camera Raw, in the Presets tab (see trash icon). Or, in Windows Vista the related xmp files are found under: User > AppData > Roaming > Adobe > Camera Raw > Settings.

  • Develop settings suddenly changed ?

    I just imported a new batch of dngs from Canon 10D to LR 2.3 on Win XP.  The images are still coming up "As Shot", which is correct, but many Develop settings have changed since I used LR yesterday.  This has happened in both my 'slide scans' .lrcat and my 'digital' .lrcat.
    Black is now 5 (was 0)
    Brightness is +50 (was 0)
    Contrast is +25 (was 0)
    Linear has changed to Medium Contrast
    Noise Reduction - Color is 25 (was 0)
    Sharpness is +25 (was 0)
    I've never (knowingly) set ANY presets in Develop.  What did I do and how do I revert to the 'before' state?  (I prefer to start at '0' with all my images - except, of course, a few like Sharpness - Radius 25, etc.)

    Hi Dennis (spelling?),  I was wrong on a couple of points.  First, those settings are NOT in my 'slide' .lrcat.  Second, I was hasty and mistaken: Those changes only appear in this most recent import of 47 (dng) images, today's download.  And, third, not ALL the settingS were 0 (probably defaults) but the things I listed are definite changes from the appearance of my Develop module panel from yesterday back to day 1 with LR.
    In my digital catalog of 9K images, several thousand of which are dngs, I have NOT had those numbers appear before - you must believe I would have noticed things like 'Linear' being 'Med Contrast' while working almost daily in LR . . .

  • Import tags from another catalogue without develop settings

    How do I import tags from another catalogue but not the develop settings of each image?
    Here's whats going on:
    I started with 5000 images on a hard drive. I gave a copy to someone else working on the project.
    I physically moved images into real folders and edited all the shots.
    She left all the images where they originally were and tagged each image.
    I want to combine her tags with the edits that I've done, with the images in their new locations I've made.
    I have a copy of her catalogue file.
    I tried importing her catalogue into mine- which will pull her metadata tags, but only also with pulling her develop settings which resets all my work.
    How can I import ONLY her metadata tags?
    I can't open her catalogue and write the tags into XML sidecars because I've moved the images from where her catalogue says they are.
    I realize we should have done this differently from the beginning, but with that being said- if I could import only her metadata tags then that should work. But Lightroom 4 only gives the options of importing BOTH metadata and develop settings.
    Any ideas?

    One option (backup your catalog first):
    * Import her catalog (apply metadata and develop changes), which adds a "Paste Settings" step to the edit history.
    * Restore previous develop settings using ScrewAutoSync, to roll back the settings by one step, to pre-"Paste Settings" state. - just make sure you *don't* do this to photos that weren't changed by the catalog import. One way to do that is to apply a no-op (do nothing) preset to all photos before importing the catalog (that way if you inadvertently roll 'em back one, they'll be the same as they were). You must create a no-op preset by hand, or use this:

    (hint: context-click & select "save link as")
    There are probably other options.

  • Long list of presets.

    The long list of Presets in Grid Mode are useless to me. I only ever use two that I have made. One for basic import, and one for B&W. I would like to be able to delete all the long list of built in ones. Or have a toggle switch as in Develop to hide them. At least, have custom ones show up at the top of the list instead of needing to scroll all the way to the bottom every time I want to use my presets.

    I posted the same request a while ago. After finally finding a way to get rid of them they showed up again after updating to 3.3. Damned!

  • ACR Develop Settings feature not working

    I have been using Bridge and Camera Raw to process images. I make adjustments from one image to many others using the Develop Settings feature. I don't know what changed or why, but when I now open a raw file in Bridge, Photoshop opens, and I seem to be working in Photoshop's ACR, instead of Bridge's ACR. When I click "Done," I go back to Photoshop and not Bridge, and the Develop Settings menu is grayed out. Right clicking doesn't work because Develop Settings is not even listed there. I have checked all the settings for Bridge and ACR and Photoshop, and I can't find anything that is different or not selected. I think my program might be corrupted.
    Anyone have any ideas? I am running Windows XP 64 bit edition with 8gbs of RAM. I've been using this system since February with no problem. Help!!! I have work to do!!!

    I found another post with regard to a completely different problem, but the solution suggested was to purge the cache for the folders, one by one. I purged the cache for the folder where I started having the problem, and now everything seems to be working well again.
    I'm using CS3 with Bridge 2.1.1.9

    I am using tether with develop settings in LR3. I keep getting the 'Update Process Version' and it won't apply the filter unless I click the (!). It does this with newly created presets. Please help.

    Erm, 2 words... free trial?
    Anyway, let's get you sorted out.  Are you the same hania on the POTN forums, or do you just have the same problem?
    First things first, when you mention repairing permissions, I guess you're a Mac user.
    First, hold down Opt while starting LR and see if you can start a clean catalog ok.  That'll determine whether it's catalog specific.
    Then go to Macintosh HD / Users / [your username] / Library / Preferences /  and move or delete any com.adobe.lightroom*.plist files.
    And while you're there, I'd also go to Macintosh HD / Users / [your  username] / Library / Application Support / Adobe / Lightroom / and move  that Lightroom folder somewhere else for the moment.
    Then see if it works.  Could be a few things - most likely are a problem with the catalog, corrupted preferences file, or a preset that it doesn't like.  We can exclude those quite easily using the above.

  • Matching Lightroom Develop Settings to In-Camera Picture Styles

    For certain shoots it would suit me to have my pictures import and look like the embedded jpegs which are created using Canon's standard picture styes. Is there an easy way to create LR develop settings to match the popular Canon styles such as Standard, Portrait and Landscape so that I get approx the same amount of sharpness, contrast, colour balance. Perhaps someone has already done that and they've shared the Lightroom Presets.

    Rob Cole wrote:
    Are you 100% sure the luminance noise reduction algorithm is tailored to each specific camera model, in Lightroom (and ACR)  I mean?
    What I stated  is based on "visual" observations of raw files from three different Canon DSLR cameras inside LR and DPP. I am sure it varies from camera manufacturer and even camera model, with some models applying NR during demosaicing and others not. The Fuji X-Tran is a good example where Adobe initially had issues with the demosacing process, which affected image sharpness and noise levels. My guess is that this is done in two-steps:
    1) Initial demosaicing on Import into the Develop module where the 4-pixel cell  RG1BG2 raw data is converted into a "uniform" single pixel bit map with RGB values. This is the best possible place to analyze the image data for Color NR and demosaic interpolation to maximize sharpness and minimize "aliasing." How "well" this is done has a huge impact on the overall sharpness of the image. Hot pixel removal is done during demosaic processing for all camera models. Hot pixels can't be removed from JPEG and sRAW image files since they are already demosaic'd.
    2) Additional Color and Luminance NR and Capture Sharpening is performed inside the Develop module using the camera raw cache data. The Luminance NR "tailoring" I refer to is probably based on "reverse engineering" of the manufacturer's raw converter algorithms. The higher the ISO the larger the NR amount applied at any given setting. In order to provide somewhat "uniform" values it would have to be based on the ISO versus Noise performance of the specific camera model.  For example a 12Mp 1.6 crop sensor camera is not going to perform near as well as a 12 Mp full-frame camera of the same generation.
    Attached below is my best effort in LR and DPP using a Canon 5D MKII 21Mp raw image shot with a 24mm TS-E II lens–The sharpest lens I've ever owned. It's pretty clear (pun) DPP pulls out more detail, but falls down in the tonal definition (i.e. shadow detail). The only thing this can be due to are differences in Canon's DPP demosaicing and LRs.
    1:1 (100%) View
    DPP Sharpening = 3 out of 10, LR Sharpening = 40, .8, 40, 0

  • Develop Settings Adjustment

    I hope its OK to announce a new plugin here. I know its not OK in the Lightroom forum proper. I wouldn't even do it here if it wasn't taking 2+ *******' months to push it through the exchange.
    Please just let me know if you have an objection and I'll remove the post, rather than reporting it as abuse - thanks.
    Also, this isn't self promotion - not only is this plugin free but all of my plugins are free - its just an offering to the community.
    DevAdjust - Relative Develop Settings Adjustment, including support for presets and preset combos...
    Rob

    No single "Adjustment Layer" could ever duplicate all of Lighroom/Camera Raw's controls...ain't gonna hapen. But you CAN open in Photoshop, add a smart object using Camera Raw (easier to do with CS3 & CR 4) and have the same LR/CR rendering as a smart object...

  • Is there a way (or a plugin) to export develop settings into a readable file format?

    For online educational/sharing purposes, I'd like to be able to export my LR develop settings into a readable text format so that if I share a before/after picture I can also include the LR develop settings that went into creating the after picture.  I've looked for 2 days and I can't find a plug-in that will do this.

    The List View plugin can export develop settings as a CSV file for Excel or HTML for a browser.
    If you're technically minded and comfortable with scripting, it's straightforward to write a script that reads the settings from the XMP metadata stored in the .xmp sidecars (for raws) or in the XMP metadata section of JPEGs and TIFFs.   Open a .xmp sidecar in your favorite text editor to get a flavor of how the develop settings are stored there.
