Refreshing deleted cube cells

When I execute dbms_awm.refresh_awcube it loads new cells and updates changed cells based on a source cube (Oracle9iR2).
But when in the source cube a cell doesn't exist anymore the dbms_awm.refresh_awcube doesn't remove them from the olap variable (the old values still exist there, while there are no values for them in a fact table).
The same thing happens when you reduce the level of aggregation.
For instance: I have dimension with levels A->B->C.
I aggreagated level C, B and A.
But when i change it to aggregate only levels C an B, the A level cells still exist in a variable. Summary shows null for the level A (it should compute summaries on the fly for the level A).
And third thing: When i refresh cube when the new fact data has less rows - i expect the composite (i have all of the dimensions put in a composite) to reduce its size. but it doesn't happen.
What should i do to refresh cube (with some cells added, some missed) properly?

If by delete you really mean clear the contents of a cell, then just click once on the cell and hit the 'delete' button.

So it's not strictly true that Numbers does not delete one cell, ever. It can if you have a one-column table.
So never say never or not ever! Enough pedantry for today!

Hi Madhu,
According to your description, you can refresh the cube. But the users from a domain can't do this and get the above error. Right?
In this scenario, since you are the only user which can refresh the cube and the other user can't, it might be permission issue. Please re-grant the cube permission (Read/Write) for the domain users. See:
Grant cube or model permissions (Analysis Services).

Insert or delete single cells

How do I insert or delete a single cell?
For example, I want two columns of text. aligned horizontally, and, separated by a blank column.
The two text lists have been created in other applications.
So I copy list1, and paste it in cell C7.
Then I copy list2, and paste it cell G6.
oops. Now the lists are not aligned horizontally.
The easiest way to align the lists is by either delete a single cell in column C or insert a single cell in column G.
But I can't find the option to add/delete single cells.
Does that option exist in Numbers? If so, how/where?

My first thought on reading your post was: why are you using a single table for two side-by-side lists? If you had used two single-column tables you could use Delete Row or Insert Row to do what you want.
pw and John both gave you perfectly good solutions, and I just wanted to add my two cents worth. I don't see much value in the Add/Delete Cell feature that you are looking for. The action never ends there because there's always a followup question as to what you want to do with the data to the right of and below the affected cell. So, it hasn't saved you any real time.
Numbers has a very handy and secure method for moving a range of data. Highlight the range that you want to move. Then, Edit > Mark for Move. Now, click in the new starting location and Edit > Move.
There you go; several ways to recover from the inevitable oops. Depending on how soon you discover your mistake, Command-Z is probably the easiest fix.

Refresh a specific cell in an af:table

When some changes are made to a cell in a table, I would like to refresh some other cells (on other rows).
I currently only succeed in:
- refreshing the complete table (using a partial trigger). This is not a good option, because it takes too long and the input field focus is lost.
- refreshing other cells on the currently selected row. This is not a good option because some cells I would like to refresh are on other rows.
How can I do this?
Version is 11.1.1.4.0, but I'm willing to update to 11.2 if this is needed...

If you use an af:table this will not be easy as the components are stamped (meaning one component is used for one attribute of all rows). So to change the underlying data is the best option (as you may need to change fields not visible currently).
Javascript may be an option...

This is a wicked dumb question ... I have a fairly large table of data, and I want to line up the entries in one column with the entries in another. What I need to do is easily insert and delete individual cells? I can insert and delete rows ... I need to insert/delete individual cells.

Yet, I still cannot delete a single empty cell and have the column move upward one cell. After completing shift-command-x and shift-command-v on a single empty cells leaves an empty cell in the source destination. I wanted to delete it. My spreadsheet was small enough to shift blocks of cells upwards using "mark for move" until all the empty cells were at the bottom, whereby I then evoked the delete rows method. It worked but a bit kludgy. Better than before though as I hadn't used the "mark for move",

Not able to delete Cube & DSO data

I am trying to delete data request from upper & lower Data providers(cube & DSO respectivly).
Frst I tried to delete cube data using context menu option DeleteData.It generates dump "Time Exceeded". So I manually selected the request in cube manage & deleted.
Later when i try deleting DSO(that updates abv cube) data with context menu option gv similar dump so i manually tried deleting topmost req & it fails with following log.

Deleting Cube data takes up all DIA processes

Good day
We are in Bi 7.0 and I have a problem that I cannot find an answer for.
I have created a process chain where I delete cube data with event "Complete deletion of Data Target Contents" among loading data again etc.. When this process chain starts and get to the deletion part it will use up all the DIA processes in production (SM50) and bring it to its knees for more than an hour. If I do the same thing in DEV and QA, with the same amount of records (1 200 000), then it deletes within a few seconds. I deleted the contents manually in prod as well and the same thing is happening.
What can I do to rectify this or where can I check why this is happening?

Have you ever used the transaction RSBATCH? It controls how many processes are allocated to particular BW batch functions (e.g. DTP loads, Data deletes, etc.). In RSBATCH, go into the Mass Maintenance of All Settings for Parallel Processing. You should be able to find the delete that you're having an issue with by selecting the appropriate process type and the correct process variant. Compare the settings in Prod to your more manageable settings that exist in Dev and QA. This would most likely be the place I'd start looking.

Deleting a cell

I have a pull down menu that has 10 stacked cells separated by a line, each with type inside. I deleted the type of the bottom cell, but can not delete the cell, so now there is a blank box at the bottom. any idea how to do this?

How do I delete selected cells (not just delete its contents) in Numbers? In excel, this action would be followed by the option "shift cells up/left".

Excel may call that "deleting cells", but it's really just replacing the contents of the cell(s) with contentes of cells below or to the right of the ones "deleted." Numbers accomplishes the same task by moving the (contents of the) cells into place, replacing the cells to be "deleted."
In Numbers there are two ways to do this:
Select the cells whose content is to be moved in.
Drag the selected cells onto the top left one to be "deleted". Drop.
If the target cell is not in sight:
Select the cells to be moved.
Go Edit > Mark for Move (or press option-command-X)
Click on the top left target cell.
Go Edit > Move (or press option-command-V)

You can only uncheck the cell phone number. The only way to delete it is to use for FaceTime and Messages an Apple ID not associated with the iPhone.

Deleting cube or dimension via XML

Does anybody have an XML template I can use to delete cubes and/or dimensions from an Analytic Workspace, rather than using AWM ? I have a PL/SQL utility to create cubes and dimensions via XML templates (using DBMS_AW_XML.EXECUTE), but I'd like to build in functionality to delete structures if they already exist.
It looks like the Java API contains functions to perform these actions, but I'm not a Java person, and I'd like to trigger these actions from my PL/SQL utility, and executing XML seems a neat option.

I managed to find a way of doing it, using XML like the attached, where you replace CUBEXYZ with the name of the cube you wish to delete. Similar approach works for deleting dimensions.
