Refreshing MV when connection failed

hi ,
I am using Oracle 9i, in my mv refresh in the event of an ip addr change and it cannot makes the connection ,
will that data in my MV table got deleted as well or Oracle will establish the connection is ok first and only then does a MV refresh ?

As you may already know not all views can be refreshed with FAST method, especially the complex ones that select data from more than one table.
So the only refresh option for those views is COMPLETE REFRESH.

With all database versions older than 10.2.0.1 It is true that when you refresh the MV using complete method it does TRUNCATE the data before it refreshes it. This is true even though ATOMIC_REFRESH parameter is set to TRUE when you call DBMS_MVIEW.REFRESH (It is a known bug).
What is Atomic Refresh?
If this parameter is set to true, then the list of materialized views is refreshed in a single transaction. All of the refreshed materialized views are updated to a single point in time. If the refresh fails for any of the materialized views, none of the materialized views are updated.
If this parameter is set to false, then each of the materialized views is refreshed in a separate transaction.
But, if you refresh the materialized view using a refresh group you can force Oracle to do DELETE instead of truncate.
In general when you refresh with refresh group, your MV views will be transactionally consistent.

But make sure you have at least two views in the refresh group, otherwise Oracle will truncate data again.
So if the database link is broken, the refresh will fail and the transaction will be rolled back. None of the end users will notice anything unusual.

Any way to re-try to connect when connection fails

I developed SSIS 2014 packages importing data from MySQL to MS SQL 2014.
It is scheduled to run every 3 hours and sometimes it fails to connect to MYSQL (no problem with MS SQL) and it is always ok in the next run. As it is always ok in the next run, I think there is nothing wrong with the package itself. I believe it is a temporary
network issue.
To overcome it, I want the package to re-try to connect in every 30 seconds (or 1 min) for the next 5 times.
Is there any way to do this in SSIS 2014? Below is the screenshot of .Net MYSQL data connector I am using. I thought there might be something I can do in there but can't figure it out. I don't think there is a option to do it.
Any suggestions?

I will try it out..
If its executing the package from a job you can set retry attempts inside job step properties so that it will try it again after the first failed attempt. You can give a number based on how many times you want to retry it and also define a retry interval
to impose a delay betweeb two consecutive retries.

SharePoint 2013 - PowerPivot - The following connections failed to refresh.

Thanks for taking a look. I have tried countless blogs and other forum posts and can't seem to resolve this.
I am working on SP2013 with SQL Server 2012 in a single farm environment. My domain is on another VM.
I am using interactive refresh. (Click Data > Refresh All Connections) from the PP Workbook in SharePoint.
The connection is embedded.
I am getting the error "We were unable to refresh one or more data connections in this workbook. The following connections failed to refresh: (Name of my connection). The connection is using windows authentication
What I have tried:
I have checked ULS Logs, nothing showing up unfortunately.
I checked local system messages on server, nothing there.
I changed both the PowerPivot and Excel Services application pools to run under Domain\Administrator
I changed both the PowerPivot and Excel Services unattended accounts to run under Domain\Administrator
Ran IISReset command from windows powershell.
Restarted SSAS Services
Verified the Server was registered in Excel Services (Data Model Settings)
Verified that data refresh was enabled on the PowerPivot workbook at the site collection level.
In central administration I set the business hours to 6am - 8am for data refresh so this would not be an issue.
I verified that the Secure Store Service is started in central administration
I have also ran SQL Server Profiler and all I see is this error, i'm not even sure it's related. Searching the error hasn't helped:
"The commit or rollback request cannot be completed because there is no active transaction in this session."
I verified that Claims to Windows Token Service is running in central administration.
I've tried editing the workbook connection to use specified accounts as well. When I do that I get the following error:
An error occurred while accessing application id SP2013\Administrator from the Secure Store Service. The following connections failed to refresh: (My connection name).
Any help or direction would be much appreciated. Thanks.

If you're trying to connect to a Bonjour server on the remote network, that won't work over a layer 3 VPN. Use something like Hamachi or one of the SSH-tunnelling Bonjour proxy apps for that.

My iphone 5 won't call when i fail to connect to the internet via 3g.
At work i dont have wifi i have 3g, if i launch say the sky go app,or the iplayer, sometimes they work and everything is fine...sometimes they wont load as 3g for whatever reason cant get a connection at that particular time........ if i then try and make a call the call will fail. I've experimented 25 + times and this is definately the cause.
(note: when the 3g connection does work, the phone has absolutely no problem calling people)
Anyone had this problem?

Are you sure that the carrier's signal is strong where you are having this problem? Certain building structures and locations have poor cellular signal strength and this often results in the "No Service" indication. Are other users able to get service in the same locations where you have problems?

Connection failed when trying to connect to external Lacie hard disk

I have an external Lacie hard disk which sits under and is connected to my Airport Extreme base station. I access that volume by using the 'Connect to Server' option in the finder, and I can see the Lacie drive when I get to the stage where I click to 'browse' and then click the Network icon.
However, today instead of connecting as usual (after asking for password authorisation, etc.) I now get a temporary window message saying:
"Looking up, "x1-6........local..." I guess the IP address?
After 3 minutes I then get the following error message:
CONNECTION FAILED
The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and try again.
Yesterday I had a problem with my MacPro while trying to access info on the Lacie volume and with no response from the MacPro to shut down, I had to hold the start button down to get it to shut down. I then turned the Airport Express and Lacie disk off at the main plug powerpoint (I forgot to dismount the Lacie volume from another Mac running!). Hoping this would reset everything, but now this problem has happened!
Any help or advice on this would be much appreciated as I hold some key financial and business info on the Lacie volume and I can't access it now!!!

That's worked!
I did reboot Airport Extreme initially (had to switch off power to AEBS and Lacie disk as looks like there is no power switch on the AEBS?...and tried, but same problem. But then tried this again and all now works as before.
Thanks for your advice and the direct connection tip, which I was considering doing anyway if the conventional route didn't work.

"Connection Failed" when trying to connect to another Mac on my wireless network.

I am having an intermittent problem with the connectivity between my iMac and Mac Pro - the latter is the media server for our house. Occasionally my Apple TV's seem to lose connectivity to the Mac Pro too which is a real pain. Both Macs are running Mavericks and the Apple TVs are running the latest software too.
If I try to connect to the Mac Pro in Finder on my iMac, the Mac Pro is there but when I click on it I get "Connection Failed". Rebooting both computers seems to fix the problem but is far from ideal when mid way through a film!
The messages in console on my iMac when I try to connect to the Mac Pro in Finder is:
14/03/2014 10:20:33.542 sharingd[253]: SDSharePointBrowser::handleOpenCallBack returned -5999
14/03/2014 10:23:34.180 locationd[82]: could not open write stream for /var/db/locationd/clients.plist
I'm not sure if this provides a clue?

I've managed to connect OK using Connect as. So at least that part is solved. I will see if I can get any diagnostics as to why the Apple TV drops out.

Why do I get connection failed when logging in on app store on wireless, but Wired LAN works fine?

I've been having the same issue as many other people. On OSX Lion with latest updates as of 3/20/2012. Tried deleting .plist files, checking keychain access and even reset keychain. I still get the error of Connection Failed when trying to download updates or a new app from the app store.
I also can't connect to the iTunes "Account" area. It produces an error that the request failed (-1200)
I finally decided to try a wired connection instead of my wireless. Now it works great! So I removed my wireless network and re-added it. Back to square one. Work around for now is fine, but I should be able to use this over wireless, too!
I just now tested connecting to a different wireless network (EVO Hotspot) and it worked fine. So it's something specific to my office wireless network. Nothing changed on our firewall (I'm the administrator). It just stopped working.

Tried updating my iPad mini to iOS 8, it went into recovery mode and when I try to update then restore it on iTunes it says the download will last 300 HOURS and then it says something like "Connection failed"?

I tried uppdating my ipad then it went into recovery mode. I thought "oh no problem, my phone has done this before". So, I hooked it up to iTunes and started to restore/update it, but when the update began, it said it would take 24 hours to download. Already abnormal. Then, the number kept rising higher and higher until it got to 300 HOURS. Then, once it reaches a certain 300, it says "connection failed. please check to see that you have a working connection or try again later" or something like that. So, my iPad is now stuck in recovery mode and I can't exactly talk to people now. What do I do?

Sorry to hear about your issue. I would start your troubleshooting with the article below to check to settings of your computer to make sure your connection is good to the iTunes Store.

Open Sysem Preferences from your Apple () menu top left in your screen then select the Firewall tab.
Make sure the Firewall is turned off.

'Connection Failed' msg when trying to connect my TX to wifi

I have a Palm TX that I bought used. The seller said it was in good order (she bought an iPhone), everything else works on it, my router is a Linksys and is working properly for the laptop. I have been on the phone and live chat with Palm support (they say they can't help). I have read the major posts about common problems (by Wyrenut, I think and on brighthand). I have done a soft reset and a hard reset with no change.
HELP! The TX picks up the signal and shows our SSID. We use WPA-PSK and I've entered the key code several times and I'm sure it's correct. The TX also will pick up signals elsewhere, such as hotels and restaurants, but still says 'connection failed'.
Is there a way to tell if it is a hardware problem? If maybe I got a lemon? (I hope not) All else works properly. I can sync, etc.
Can anyone help? If it helps, I was told it is 2 yrs old. Also, I've emailed the seller and asked if the wifi connection was working when she last used it, but nothing yet.

MAC filtering is turned off by default in just about every router. If you haven't turned it on, then it shouldn't be in effect. I don't own a Linksys, but MAC filtering should be in the Wireless settings somewhere.
When you did the resets, did you test the TX immediately without a Hotsync? If not, it may be software-related.
Are you sure the router is set to broadcast in /b mode, or "Mixed /b and /g"? If set to "/b,/g, and /n" try backing off to just b and g, no /n.
