Regarding Alias Table import

I have a Time dimension in which 2009FY->2009q1->200901->20090101
20090102
for each month in this way
and child is weekly for 53 weeks with day as granularity, so its a shared hierarchy, the problem is i am trying to load an alias table its getting loaded for stored members but having a problem with shared hierarchy, plz could any resolve the problem
thanks in advance..
Ram

i surmise, you are using planning application... So only alias name is not present for shared hirarchy...

  • Re:Alias Table

Hi I am new to obiee, I have a doubt regarding alias tables in obiee..
I had a fact and dimension(Party), I created three alias tables for party and joines
    Fact.Primary Borrowerid=Party.partyid
    Fact.SecondaryBorrowerid=party.partyid
Fact.Primary officer id=party.partyid in the physical layer
so when it comes to BMM Layer do i need to make one party table and drag the two alias (party tables) into the party table or else is there any other procedure?

If you need any Party attributes interms something like
    Primary Borrower
    Secondary Borrower
    Primary officer
then you need to have logical table for each.

  • Alias tabls does really improves the performence

    hi all gurus
since long time i have one question in my mind about alias table
if we use alias table in physical layer, does it really improves the performance ??
so for i have used it for to avoid self joins,
can u give me at least one scenario regarding alias table?
Apart form that all are telling that one table is use full for more than one time that time we have to go for alias table
    is it true?
let us take small example as sh schema ,in that we have two facts, cost and sales and dimension like product, countries, time
here my question is to maintain start schema in physical layer we have to go for alias concept.
if we give direct joins to the fact with dimensions, will it decrease the performance ?
i don't under stand ,can any one clear about it?
    Thanks a lot in advance

The Answers is No for the example you described about SH Schema.
Aliasing tables, IMHO, doesn't contribute to performance gain/lag.
Aliasing concept is used to implement some complicated scenarios, like the one you described i.e. self joins.
Other examples would be a 1. circular join, 2. prevent clutter in physical layer, 3. set specific cache properties etc....are few i remember on top of my head.
In a nutshell, think of it as a modelling technique to implement complexities.

  • Importing Alias Tables

I've never imported an alias table into an outline from a text file before, and I was wondering if I could talk to someone that has. Essentially, I'm a little unsure what format the text file needs to be in to successfully import. I've tried a few ways, but with no success. If you're able to help, please let me know.Thanks.Clark [email protected]

  • Duplicate table  and  Alias table in the physical layer

    Hi,
I want a clear information regarding the duplicate tables in the physical layer of the rpd.
I mean what is the purpose of the duplicate tables in the physical layer.........
    thanks,
    chinna.

what do you mean by duplicate of physical table? is it Alias table?
    if then,
-> aliases are created to break the circular joins (which are not supported by obiee)
-> and, as per apps standards no operation can be done on base tables which are imported directly to physical layer. Only aliases are joined and will be used in BMM layer
-> useful to re-use the table more than one time , best example: W_DAY_D in apps rpd

  • Error while importing text file to Power Pivot via Table Import Wizard

    Hello there,
I'm a rookie at handling Excel to be honest. I've been trying to import a .txt file to Excel (it contains around 14 million rows of information) but Excel won't let me since it can only handle around 1 million rows per sheet (too troublesome to do such thing
14 times in 14 different sheets). Then I googled that Power Pivot let me handle around 100 million rows in a Pivot.
I'm trying to import this .txt file to Power Pivot by doing the following:
Home tab > From Text > File Path (insert .txt location here) > Finish
After that it shows the Table Import Wizard retrieving the rows from the .txt file. Problem is... at the end of the import (once it hits row 14,000,000 or so) it shows an error. It states the following:
"Memory error: Allocation failure : Not enough storage is available to process this command. .
The current operation was cancelled because another operation in the transaction failed."
Please note that the size of the .txt file is 900 MB.
Another thing is that, when I select the .txt file from its location at the File Path section, the "preview" field only shows 50 rows, not all of them. Is that okay to happen?
Is it because the size of the .txt file is too big?
Please let me know if you need more info in regards to this.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi AdiUser,
Only showing 50 rows for the preview is normal behaviour. Based on what you've described, it sounds like Power Pivot is running out of memory when you are loading this .txt file. Are you running the 32 bit or 64 bit version of Excel. Also, if you are running
the 64 bit version how much RAM is available?
If you're running the 32 bit version then the available RAM for Power Pivot is less than 1 GB even if the system has more than this installed. You can address this by installing the 64 bit version. If you're running the 64 bit version then it may be
that you don't have enough RAM to accommodate this amount of data and you may consider upgrading the RAM. Alternatively, you could try and reduce the size of the table in memory by using the preview screen to remove any columns that are not of use. This
is especially important if there are any column with a high number of unique values that aren't actually needed in the model. In addition to removing columns altogether, you could try filtering the data so that only a subset of the rows are imported.
This can also be done from the preview screen.

    Michael Amadi

  • SAP Query Alias Table in Info-set not working

    Hi Guys,
I'm having a bit of trouble with a query I'm writing in SQ01.
I am trying to create a standard margin report between two different costing variants that we use.
n order to do so I have had to employ the use of alias tables.
I have named the alias tables KEKO_2 and KEPH_2 accordingly and joined them in the info set with the same joins as the original tables (Left Outer to MARC on MATNR and WERKS)
However, when I have come to test the query in SQ01 I get a runtime error which states the following:
The following syntax error was found in the program
      AQA0MASTER_DATA=STANDARDMARGIN :
"Field "KEPH_2-KST001" is unknown. It is neither in one of the specified
    tables nor defined by a "DATA" statement . . . . . . . . . ."
But it is in a specified table! My alias table.
How can I make this query work?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Changing the LTS mapping in BMM layer  to new Physical Alias table

    Experts
I need to change the source table mapping in my BMM layer to new physical tables aliases.
I have finished BMM layer design (column name changes, business friendly names etc.) before actually creating the alias tables in the Physical layer and I know I hv to run for hiding now. I expected changing the logical source mapping to the new aliases will work but it's not the case though it works partially. Since the Column names are changed in the bmm, I have to manually change the Expression, Physical Table in the LTS column mapping tab for each non-matching name logical columns.
Column mapping is intact where both the BMM columns and the new Physical alias names match.
eg: CALENDER_YEAR(BMM) ---> CALENDAR_YEAR(Physical alias) mapping is intact but
Week Day(BMM) ---> WEEK_DAY(Physical alias) need to be changed manually.
    Any tips/suggestions will be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Tom

    Hi Tom,
I too do not see any other options here other than manually modifying the individual logical columns. When there is a new logical column, we have to map it manually to the physical column explicitly because the Admin tool will not know which physical column to pick up.
    Hope this helps.
    Thank you,
    Dhar

  • Table Import Data - "Insert script" - National characters

    Hi all,
it looks like that there is a problem with support of national characters in imported data file when method "Insert script" is chosen.
Table -> Import Data -> Open datafile "csv".
As far as in the preview window I'm seeing properly displayed national characters from csv data file and when I'm choosing "Insert" or "SQL Loader" method - data is properly imported to the table.
But when I'm using "Insert script" method, in generated script national characters are changed into "bushes":

  • About alias tables

What is the use of alias table in physical layer what is the use of it
if i am not using alias tables so what is the impact???
i heard that alias table is use full for avoiding circular joins and self joins
can you make me little bit clear on it
    Thanks
    sreedhar

I dont know whether it will improve performance but aliases are basically used when you want to do self join .One good example is to calculate second maximum salary .In that case you will make aliases of one table twice. In obiee alaises are basically used when you want to join same table with same fact twice .For example one fact can join to time dimesnion twice with diffrent join condition .
In that case you need to create alias of original table .If you join the same table with fact twice then OBIEE will throw an error that circular joins are not allowed,This is an example of circular join.

  • Alias Tables and Duplicate tables in Physical Layer

    Hi all,
I have a small doubt in physical layer. We have two options when we right click table, 'Alias' and 'Duplicate'. To create another instance of a table, can we use any one of these. Does it make any difference
    Thanks & Regards,
    Jagi

    Hi,
If u duplicate any table the join conditions will carry with respective tables , same name appending (TableName#1)
In case of alias u need to specify joins conditions explicitly
We can use same table with different constrains to the same table
Aliases used, if you need to replicate a physical table and not create multiple tables with the same data
If you delete any column in the Original table automatically deleted in alias
table and Its not reflected in Duplicate table.
    Steps:
Right Click the original table. Choose New Object and choose Alias.
The mistake most people make is try to bring in the same table again and rename it or choose Duplicate by right clicking the original table.
    Thanks,
    Balaa...

  • Confuse about Alias table

    Hi,
In the samplesale RPD, I saw a lot of alias tables and I check the mapping in physical layer, there is no mapping between source table of alias table and F, just have mapping between alias table and F, so what I want to know is what's the purpose of this kind of table? why alias it, why not use source table?
    Regards,
    anne

    Hi Anne,
There will not be any physical join between the source dim and its alias. If you double click on an alias table in physical layer, you can see the source table from which this alias is created. The main purpose of an alias table is to avoid circular join.
For Example: Assume you have a fact table with various date foreign keys like registration_date_fkey,resignation_date_fkey etc. In this case you ll have to join a date dimension's primary to these two foreign keys in the fact. You cannot use the same date dimension twice to achieve this, in this scenario create aliases for date dim ,name them as w_day_d_registration and w_day_d_resignation and join them to the respective foreign keys.

why do not try with expdp/impdp remap_tablespace?
    REMAP_TABLESPACEDefault: none
    Purpose
Remaps all objects selected for import with persistent data in the source tablespace to be created in the target tablespace.
    Syntax and Description
    REMAP_TABLESPACE=source_tablespace:target_tablespace
Multiple REMAP_TABLESPACE parameters can be specified, but no two can have the same source tablespace. The target schema must have sufficient quota in the target tablespace.
Note that use of the REMAP_TABLESPACE parameter is the only way to remap a tablespace in Data Pump Import. This is a simpler and cleaner method than the one provided in the original Import utility. In original Import, if you wanted to change the default tablespace for a user, you had to perform several steps, including exporting and dropping the user, creating the user in the new tablespace, and importing the user from the dump file. That method was subject to many restrictions (including the number of tablespace subclauses) which sometimes resulted in the failure of some DDL commands.
By contrast, the Data Pump Import method of using the REMAP_TABLESPACE parameter works for all objects, including the user, and it works regardless of how many tablespace subclauses are in the DDL statement.
    Example
The following is an example of using the REMAP_TABLESPACE parameter.
    impdp hr/hr REMAP_TABLESPACE='tbs_1':'tbs_6' DIRECTORY=dpump_dir1 PARALLEL=2JOB_NAME=cf1n02 DUMPFILE=employees.dmp NOLOGFILE=Y

  • Copying Alias Tables in EPMA

    Hi All,
Is anyone aware of an easier way of copying an Alias table from the 'Default' table to another alias table other than using the EPMAFileGenerator to export the metadata, copy & pasting the aliases to the other table and then re-importing the metadata? We are on v.11.1.2.1. Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
You can extract the .ads file from LCM, rename the alias and reload in EPMA using a profile for flat files.

  • Adding Alias Tables

    2 Questions:
I want to combine my member names and alias table (default) into a new alias table such that the new alias table would be (Member Name - Alias Default). Is there a way to do this through a script ?
Also currently we only have 1 alias table, default, will there be any considerable performance impacts to adding an addition alias table ?

If this is a planning application, alias tables have to be created with in the planning web and upon refresh it will be pushed to essbase. I dont think you can do this using a script for planning. Even if you create these tables directly in essbase, those will be dropped during the application refresh.
If it was an " Essbase-only " application you can import/export tables using maxl/esscmd.
Adding alias table will not shown a significant impact on performance. You can have upto 9 additional alias tables.
    Hope this helps!
