Regarding Java development

Hi Experts,
I am a newbie to java programming. I am trying to build java application By J2ee prespective..
Can you tel me as to how is it possible to create a JSP page..
Do u need to learn HTML coding also.. Will it be generated automatically..!
Best Regards,
Navin Fernandes.

Hello Navin,
Start from here:
http://help.sap.com/SAPhelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/f6/4345e8238fcd418197d6692e59d673/frameset.htm
You will find an easy to follow tutorial on how to develop your first J2EE application, which includes JSP, java bean and enterprise bean. It is helpful to know how HTML works, but you don't need to code in HTML as there are many visual editors like Dreamweaver which let you create web pages with drag and drop.

  • Flex for Java Developer?

    I am working on flex 1.5 from last 7 months.Ealier i hv
    worked on Java (1.5 Yr)
I hv created an application in flex sucessfully.
    My Qtn is:
Whether i have to continue with flex or move to another
    technologies like Struts etc.
Because i have nil knowlwge of FLASH.
    or
I hv to start learning FLASH MX. Is it necessary for
    Flex/Java Developer.
I am comfortable with action script if uses for Business
    Application but
unable to produce better designs using it.
    Please Suggest.
    with Regards
    Vinay

well vinay if u r thinking about -- Flex Front End to Your
    Struts Applications
    then ,,
Struts is an open source framework that facilitates the
development of web applications based on Java servlets and other
related technologies. Because it provides a solution to many of the
common problems developers face when building these applications,
Struts has been widely adopted in a large variety of development
efforts, from small projects to large-scale enterprise
    applications.
Although Struts greatly facilitates the task of developers,
it doesn't do much to improve the end-user experience: the
end-result is still an application delivered in HTML and using the
    traditional HTTP request/response mechanism.
    Developers—and organizations in general—are
increasingly looking for solutions to provide their applications
with a more engaging user experience that overcomes the limitations
    of HTML.
Macromedia Flex is a presentation server that addresses this
requirement and allows developers to build a new generation of Rich
Internet Applications (RIAs) that combine the usability of desktop
applications with the reach of traditional web applications.

  • What url should be given to java developer to call wsdl deployed by XI?

    Hi gurus,
I generate a web service by using integration directory, and in the wsdl file there is a parameter "location", which I think can be used by java developer to call the web service. However, they think the form of url should be http://.....?wsdl.
So my question is: where can I get this form of url? Any help will be appreciated.

    Hi ,
while generating the wsdl you should give an url in below format
    "http://host:port/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?channel=party:service:channel".
Then u can download the wsdl file and give to ur java developer. this file will be ending with.wsdl and file will contain the endpoint url, where the actual service is.
Again if this is not working and if they really want to download, then u should create UUDI registry in ur server and u shoul publish ur service in that registry. from ther developer can directly download the webservice.
how to configure and publish, u can search in SDN with  below topic's
"WebAS : A step by step guide for Configuring UDDI registry on Local Server"
"XI : How To publish WSDL generated from XI to UDDI"

  • Issue with create user and issue with Java Development tab

I have two issues with EP,
    1. When i login with Super Admin user, i am unable to Create any user from User Admin tab. Do i have to change the settings of the Super Admin? or is there any criteria for creating the user?
    2. How to assign any user the Java Development tab. Though i login with a super admin user i am unable to see the Java Development role and when tried to assign the role, there were no searches for that Java....

    Hi Adi,
by default the super administrater has got all permissions. Thus you should be able to create portal users when using a user assigned to the portal group Administrators.
In order to help you with your first question we need more information. Please describe the malfunction in detail. Have a look into the log files and post related error messages.
Regarding your second question: You will find the java development role in PCD
    pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.pct.pdk/Roles/com.sap.pct.pdk.JavaDeveloper.
If not, then you haven't installed the PDK business package in your portal.
Go to service.sap.com, choose downloads and search the package (PDK should do it). Download the package, and deploy on your portal using SDM.

  • Using CE 7.1 ESR with ABAP based web services requires java development?

    Hi All,
When developing a web service in ABAP, what java development must I do to make the web services available in an ESR that is located on CE 7.1?
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Mel Calucin
    Bentley Systems, Inc.

    Hi Stefan,
Someone told me that the difference between CE 7.1 ESR and PI 7.1 ESR is that to register the ABAP web service into CE 7.1 ESR you need to create EJBs and that you don't need to do this for PI 7.1 ESR (since ithe PI 7.1 ESR is ABAP based).  I didn't think that this was the case so I put this question in this forum to confirm this.   I am arguing to put in CE 7.1 because we don't need the PI 7.1 functionality.  This someone told me that we are more of an ABAP shop than a Java shop and that we don't want to develop EJBs whenever we develop ABAP based web services.
    Thanks.

You can get the SAP CRM java application from SAP CRM  installation media,
or download from SAP service marketplace.
I think you can find the info in the Development and Extension Guide
    The components
    x SAP-SHRWEB.sca
    x SAP-SHRAPP.sca
    x  SAP-CRMWEB.sca and
    x SAP-CRMAPP.sca
are designed to be modified and extended in the NWDI. They contain the web files for the E-Commerce
Applications, the IPC Web Applications and the Workforce Management Applications.
    For E-Commerce for mySAP ERP
    x SAP-SHRWEB.sca
    x SAP-SHRAPP.sca
    are designed to be modified.
If you plan to extend database tables you can modify the component
    x SAP-CRMDIC.sca,
    in the NWDI as well.
    The components
    x sap.com~STRUTS.sca
    x sap.com~SAP-IPCMSA.sca
    x sap.com~SAP-CRMJAV.sca
    x sap.com~SAP-SHRJAV.sca
    x TEALEAF.sca
are designed not to be extended or modified in the NWDI. They are required for compiling and building the
    applications.
After you delpoy  the SCAs to AS Java, and configure it with XCM, you can login the web shop.

  • Sap abap developer or java developer

    hi
I am an engineer (fresher) and i have two job offers in my hand one is java/j2ee developer and other is sap abap developer
i am not able to decide which one to choose and i have no idea that which one is better than other.
So if u were in my place then which offer will you accept
    Thanks
    Viron

    Hi Viron,
I had to make a similar decision myself a number of years ago. Based on my personal experience I would say the following:
    *ABAP Vs Java*
    - ABAP  is a business procedural language, only used with SAP. Therefore you need to ask yourself the question do you want to restrict yourself to working with one product. Also more importantly do you enjoy writing business related reports? i.e. if you would prefer to program games on mobile phones or be involved in developing a cutting edge software product then ABAP is not for you.
    -  As a general rule ABAP jobs command a higher salary over Java (in the UK anyway) as it is a more specialised skill. There are far more Java developers around.
    - You may feel like ABAP is a step back after programming in Java. Although ABAP supports object orientated programming, web services, web portals ect.. this is not commonly adopted. There is of course a disclaimer here as if you are going to work for a consultancy on green field SAP implementations then you are far more likely to adopt and use the above technologies. However if you are working on an older SAP system or in a support environment most companies are still using the standard R/3 Interface i.e. no web portal and the majority of their reports have not been developed using OO Programming Techniques.
    - You could get the best of both worlds if you can get a job as a webdynpro Java developer in SAP. Then pick up ABAP on the side. Having knowledge of both languages would make you highly employable as a web portals developer.
    - If you are strongly motivated towards Business Application Programming but would prefer to keep your options open to move into another area later in your career. Then you could look at working with Oracle Fusion, it is a software product based on Java. It is also the 2nd largest ERP tool on the market just behind SAP. This way you are building on your Java programming skills but not restricting yourself to working with an ERP software product in the future.
Hope this is of some help.
    Regards,
    Phil

  • How many systems in Java Development landscape?

For our J2EE development, we have installed a system with the JDI that we also classify as our Dev system.  Our QA system would be the test system.
But in the setup of NWDI systems, there is Dev, Consolidation, Test, Prod.  Can the NWDI/Dev system also be the consolidation system?  We don't really want to introduce 4 systems because our development activity is relatively simple.  I'm still thinking with an ABAP/STMS mind and trying to make the assimilations of how we've done it in ABAP for 10 years can translate to doing the same thing with a Java development environment.

  • Source Code Control for Java development in 6.20

I am new to Java development. How do you control source code (versioning/transport) for Java development with the base R/3 is 6.20. I believe Java Development Infrastructure (JDI) is only available in 6.40. Is this the correct statement? Anyone that has work on 6.40 with Java can explain?
Let say we have this setup:
    Applications are in 6.20
    Portal will be EP 6.0
Do we need Web AS 6.40 to develop Java for Portal with base R/3 of 6.20. Or we can use Developer Studio to create Java accessing R/3 6.20 and display in Portal 6.0. If this is the case, how do you manage transport is you are not using JDI in 6.40.

    Hi Nablan,
I believe you are development J2EE applications. JDI only runs with WebAS 6.40 which supports J2EE spec. 1.3. The developed J2EE archive will not be able to deploy to WebAS 6.20 which only supports J2EE 1.2 spec. So if you want to deploy the created software build from JDI and deploy it to WebAS 6.20, then the answer is unfortunately no.
But, if you just want the Portal be able to display your application in an iView inside, then maybe you can just develop and deploy your application to the WebAS 6.40 system. Then create an iView in your EP to point to the app in the 6.40 system. That way your app will not need to deploy to WebAS 6.20.

  • Nakisa Java: Development environment

    Hello,
We are implementing TVN 2.1 (Orgchart and Succession Planning).  The applications are installed running with Java, on Netweaver CE 7.1.
This is the first time I'm working with Nakisa on Java but have worked with the Microsoft IIS version.  I have a lot of experience with J2EE development with SAP.
With IIS, everything was quite easy: the application IIS folder was shared on the network and I could make any modification directly on the server.
With Java, this is not possible because the application needs to be deployed on Netweaver server, since it's not a Windows server but Unix, we can't share the application server.
Another issue with java is that any change made via the admin console requires a server restart.   Right now, we need to contact the server admin to get it restarted.  This procedure can be very heavy when it comes to make a lot of modifications or tests.
With Netweaver Developer Studio (NWDS), I know we can configure a J2EE server and then deploy applications and restart the server.
Or basis person just explained us that with 7.1, it doesn't seem to be the same procedure.  SDM port doesn't seem to be open and NWDS (7.1) doesn't seem to offer the possibility to configure a J2EE server.
My question is: Is there any document from Nakisa explaining how to setup a java development environment and how changes can be done efficiently to the application?  How can the Netweaver server be remotely restarted?
    Thanks for your feedback!
    Laurent

XML files can be changed using the Admin Console or directly (if you know what you are doing and have decoded) and replaced in application directory.  Restart NW CE via Start & Stop of NW AS to pick up changes.
This is also true for language customisations (custom.xml), XSLT changes, etc.
HOWEVER, anything changing below WEB-INF directory needs a re-deployment (usually this is done via a SDA EAR file that is deployed using NWDI).  Beware, this will overwrite the application on the server (e.g. if you've created a build in Admin_Config then re-deploy a new version of application then it will overwrite Admin_Config.  In other words, take a backup of any configuration and customisation you've created before re-deploying).
To answer your Q ... we have been using WinSCP to connect to the Linux file system.  Slightly convoluted way of doing it (you have to copy to local, edit, upload to server).  We have been given a local user to access NW AS so have been doing start/stops ourselves; doesn't take long (<5 secs).
    Regards,
    Stephen

  • Where to find out the log file under java developer role

    Hi,
I have some application created in NWDS. While running it after the PAR deployment and all. some exception is thrown. the exception iD is given.  I was trying to find out wher the log files are located in the portal so that I can analyze the exception.
I think it is under the java developer role....but under that......I checked the log viewer tool and all.....but exactly where the log files would be located. so that with the exception ID , I can search and find out the log for the particular exception.
    any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Steelman,
Use the search option in log viewer for this purpose. In the server it would be located in
    <i>usr/sap/sid/jc00/cluster/server0/logs</i>
    Hope this helps.

  • Why I cannot see the "Java Development " tag when I finished installation

    Hi all
I have finished my reinstall of SAP Netweaver, and granted administrator all roles, but I still cannot see the "Java Development" tag in the head of the page. I don't know why.
    How can I do it?
    Regards

    Hi Wang,
The Java development role comes after the installation of the PDK file to your portal.
For Java development role, download the latest PDK from SDN and then import the .epa file in the portal. After its installation you will see the Java Devlopment role. Assign the role to the user and refresh the portal.
    <i>Follow these steps:</i>
Once you have downloaded the PDK. Just extract it. You would have got the .rar file. For extracting this you use some rar extracter. If you want you can download the winrar from the following site:
    <b>Winrar Setup:</b> http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Utilities/Compression_and_Zip_File_Utilities/WinRAR.html
Then you can import this epa file into portal. When you will import this .epa file a new role for Java development will be added to the portal. Assign this role to your User.
For importing the .epa file .epa file u need to import from the portal (<b>System Admin>Transport>Import</b>). Here just give the path of your extracted .epa file.
    <b>Role Name: com.sap.pdk.JavaDeveloper</b>
Now you are ready to use the PDK from EP.
    I hope this helps you!!
    Regards
    Pravesh
PS: Please consider rewarding points if helpful or solved.

  • PI Java development

    Hello guys,
I need some documentation about java development in PI, can you peoeple send me some links?
Otherwise, can java applications in PI call customized portal web services? If there is docs about this, let me know, please
    Thanks!

can java applications in PI call customized portal web services?
This can be achieved in two ways using PI.
    1. Use standard Soap adapter (Java based) provided by XI.
    2. Use the Soap Lookup functionality to call this webservice in mapping.
