Regarding LACP commands on Cisco 6509 to connect server

Hi All ,
We have to connect two servers to cisco 6509 (sup720 with MFFC R7000) switches and we have to configure LACP on the 6509 to bundle two ports to get 2 Gbps through put.
Each server has four NIC ports ..out of which two ports will be connected to Switch 1 ( active ) and remaning two ports will be connected to switch 2 ( standby).
We are going to use below commands for LACP on both the switches.Apart from below commands do we need to have any other commands to make LACP to work as soon as we connect the servers.

set port lacp-channel 1/1-2 mode active
Set port vlan 10 1/1-2

On the MFFC we have so many vlans along with vlan 10

Servers support LACP protocol only.

Interesting I thought all sup 720's were non hybrid and used IOS only . Guess you learn something everyday. Looks like it should work with what you
have as long as the servers are setup with lacp in a active/standby mode.

some specific service modules like CSM or other can require different approach

Cisco 6509 with Reliability 255/255, txload 238/255, rxload 8/255 interface

Hi there,
I'm having an issue with my Cisco 6509. One of Internet configured as trunk Interface direct with a HP7500 is showing reliability 255/255, txload 238/255, rxload 8/255.
The Issue is that my Cacti Server show me that only 10% of the link is in use but if you look at txload you can see that almost 100% of the bandwidth is in use..
What can I do in order to figure out what's going on with this Interface. I'm thing about to put wireshark and configure a port monitor in order to capture the packets.
Is anyone has any tip to do a troubleshoot with this issue??

Can not access FWSM via session command in cisco 6513 (VSS enabled)

Dear All,
              Today i received FWSM from cisco (RMA), I need to configure it as standby unit for existing FWSM active/standby setup.
IOS on RMAed FWSM is 2.3.4 and cisco VSS supports FWSM IOS 4.0.4 and later.
My issue is, I cannot access FWSM (IOS 2.3.4) via session command from cisco 6513 but could successfully consoled it without any problem. I have reloaded it twice and also tried to disable and enable power on it.

There is a limitation that FWSM running version older than 4.0.4 will not accept session from the switch if the FWSM is not seated into switch 1 AND if switch 1 is not active.
So to upgrade the FWSM you either need to use the console or put the FWSM physically in switch 1.

Configuring HSRP in Cisco 6509

We have 2 nos Cisco 6509 switches with MSFC II . VLAN's are configured in both the 6509's and now we need to have the HSRP for redudancy.

If i cross connect 3725 Routers on both 6509 then how existing HSRP of 3725 will work.

LLQ priority issue after upgrading to Sup32 on Cisco 6509

Hi,
I have 1x Cisco 6509 with Sup2 and MSFC2 and it is running on IOS (c6k222-jk9sv-mz.122-17d.SXB11).
I have following policy map :
Policy Map VOIP
Class IPPHONE
priority percent 75
and the following command on each interface:
service-policy output VOIP
those configuration are working fine on SUP2 with MSFC2 but last week I tried to upgrade the SUP2 to SUP32 on the switch and upgrade the IOS to the latest version (s3223-adventerprisek9-mz.122-33.SXJ4)
but when I try to put service-policy output VOIP on each physical interface I am getting the following error:
"Priority command is not supported in output direction for this interface"
and when I try to add service-policy output VOIP on a VLAN interface I am getting following error:
MQC features are not supported in output direction for this interface.
Please let me know if I need to change something after upgrading to SUP32.

Sup32 uses PFC3B for Hardware forwarding and implemenation of features like qos, acl, netflow etc
PFC QoS does not support these policy map class commands:
•bandwidth
•priority
•queue-limit
•random-detect
•set qos-group
•service-policy

ThinkPad USB 3.0 dock network port has problems with our Cisco 6509 switch

We purchased a ThinkPad USB 3.0 dock for and X1 carbon and the main issue we are having is the network port does not seem to work with our Cisco 6509 switch. I tried updating the firmware on the dock but it still hasn't fixed the issue. I was wondering if anyone else had run into this problem with any other networks out there.

I'm seeing the same issue with a ThinkPad W520. When I connect my ethernet cable directly to the laptop, my internet speeds are on par with my service provider of 18 Mbps. When I move that cable to the dock, I will only see 1.5 Mbps. I have two displays attached to the dock and I'm running Windows 7. I've updated the dock firmware and have installed the latest system drivers. Is there anything else to try?

Yes, you can do this as you stated. In essence you will want to configure both routers for roaming network. Please check out the following Apple Support article that describes this type of network. Although this article uses two or more AirPorts, it can be done with just about any manufacturer's router.

Trying to render smart filters at high resolution: 'Could not complete the command because Appletalk is not connected'

I'm trying to increase the size of a large file for printing as a banner. Whether I try to up the resolution or increase the size (maintaining the resolution) I get an error when the resizing finishes and it tries to recreate the halftone filter:
'Could not complete your command because Appletalk is not connected'
Any ideas?

I seem to be able to work around the problem by converting the image I want to halftone into a smart object. That said, the error has popped up again a few times, especially when I've tried to apply the filter to an object that's larger than the canvas. I have to crop it to the canvas size and then it seems to work. The message has also popped up doing other random things.
It seems to be connected to lack of space for my scratch disks more than anything (though correlation is not causation so who knows). What that has to do with a network error God alone knows though.

Command prompt to see remote connections

are there any command prompt commands to see which remote servers my apps are connected to? specifically database servers.

You can use:
netstat -ano (this command will show you all connections established, listening, etc.)
or
netstat -ano | findstr /C:"1433" (this command will show you all connections using 1433 port for example).

it will only officially be available early 2011 with the new release of WLC 7.0
However, there is a pre-Beta release and it seems ok to share with customers willing to try it out early.
No need to mention that you should not be complaining about bugs or any explosion induced by the beta software :-)

Cisco 1142 WAP Connection Help

We have a Cisco 1142 WAP connected to a Cisco Wireless Controller in a remote office area. For meetings we wanted to have more hard wired connections in addition to Wifi access for attendee's / presentors etc..My question is if we purchased a Cisco 8 port POE mini switch and put that in the middle between the WAP and Controller would that work? Or is there another business grade solution for a mix of Ethernet ports and Wifi?

Yes, sir. This will work. The only "problem" I see is your 8 port PoE switch. Let me explain:
The good part about Cisco's 8-port PoE switches, the WS-C3560-8PC, is that it is FANLESS. So even if you stick the switch right inside this conference or meeting room, no one will notice it's there (unless of course, one steps on the hot surface or gives the appliance a good kick).
This model has a 1Gig SFP or RJ45 port uplink.
Now the downside is not really that significant, unless you want to be pedantic about it. The access ports are all 10/100BaseTX only.
By the way, I have no way of testing the "compact" series of the 2960C and the 3560C. The Data Sheet itself is a bit "grey" so I won't make a comment about these two models.

Ciscoview Cisco 6509 VSS power supply LED indicators incorrect

Hello all
i am experiencing the following problem.
In the Ciscoview, the LED indicators of the power supply of Cisco 6509 VSS are represented incorrectly. All power inputs and fans are okay actually. however, in the ciscoview, there is only 1 green "INPUT OKAY" for each power supply. And "FAN OKAY" LEDS are off on Active chassis.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Check the PS at the back, is there a light? If there's no light, then you need to RMA the PS as it could be faulty.
If there's a light on the PS, then you need to RMA the switch.
